My family and I stopped at Pappas Delta Blues while in the area. We parked, walked in, and were greeted by several friendly hosts. We were then seated pretty quickly. The restaurant had a several sections for seating and a large bar area with interesting decor. After being seated we waited awhile before our waiter came over and greeted us. He was very friendly and took great care of us the entire time we were there. He got our drink order and gave us menus. After a few minutes he returned with our drinks and took our order. To start we all shared an order of rolls. The rolls were good. They were soft, hot, and a good size. The butter melted on them as it was applied. My son ordered a steak with the macaroni and potato salad. He doesn't eat sides so my husband and I had a lot to share but he said his medium cooked steak was delicious. My husband ordered the prime brisket combo which comes with brisket and another choice of meat. He chose pork plus two sides which were cream corn and smashed potatoes. He finished the meat and said it was good. He really liked the flavor of the cream corn. I ordered from the brunch menu and got the brisket benedict which comes with brisket and a poached egg on top of a biscuit and a side of hash browns potatoes. I wasn't sure what to think with the combination of brisket and poached eggs but I was pleasantly surprised. The biscuit was thick and strong enough to hold all of the ingredients. The brisket was a nice addition. It was semi salty and tender. The poached egg was a positive bonus. I like eggs and the way the yolk tastes all over everything. The combination of the ingredients made a savory benedict. The hash brown potatoes were good. The potatoes were crunchy on the exterior and the bigger potatoes were soft on the interior. They were mixed with small green onion, grilled onions, and peppers which gave them a hint of extra flavor. I tried the macaroni and it was really good. It had a crumble on it which I liked plus the macaroni was tender and the cheese flavor was there. The potato salad was okay as it had some good sized potatoes but it only had a a little flavor. The mashed potatoes were okay as they were soft and smooth with a hint of butter. The cream corn was delicious. It was creamy and very flavorful. My husband and I both agreed that it was the yummiest and tastiest side. Overall Pappas Delta Blues was a good stop to have lunch. The restaurant has lots of seating, the service was great, and the food was pretty good.

Sunday's Deviled Eggs

First time eating here. Such a great atmosphere. This place is lively and the staff were very friendly. Our waitress Courtney was very helpful explaining the menu. We started with an appetizer. Sunday's Deviled Eggs smoked pork belly & homemade pickled onions, with Crystal hot sauce. I got the Rib Combo. Along with the Ribs I chose Smoked Pork Belly. The two sides I chose were Pit Smoked Beans and Beans and Green Beans. Everything tasted great! Very generous portions. We were brought some bbq sauces but to be honest the food tasted great the way it came out. Definitely coming back.

Stopped by to celebrate a family birthday. On a Sunday afternoon, this place seems to be popular with families. The wait staff was kind and helpful. The food selection was vast. We were a party of five and we tried the parker house rolls, and boudin as appetizers. I had the fried shrimp with mac and cheese and glazed carrots. Others at the table enjoyed the pork belly burger, chicken and waffles and brunch plate. Notably, the boudin was smokey and contained brisket (yum). The rolls were a little lighter than I am accustomed but they were warm and tasty. I will certainly return to try more of the menu selections.

I had the catfish, and it was really, really good -- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I genuinely enjoyed my meal from start to finish. The service was great, and the atmosphere had a cute, country-style vibe with light music in the background that wasn't too loud, which made it perfect for conversation. It felt like a relaxed, welcoming spot that's ideal for a family dinner or casual night out. Overall, Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse is a great place, and I'll definitely be back.

Blackened catfish, slaw and beans!

I'm giving this a 3... the food was outstanding as were the cocktails. Our server on the other hand was less than stellar. Flighty. Ditzy. We had to ask for flatwear, we had to flag down another server for drinks.. it just wasn't up to the normal standards for a Pappas restaurant. But, all the food was really good. My catfish ate like a steak.. seasoned perfectly!

I visit this place today and it was my first time and I gotta say I am very impressed. Nicholas M was my server. He was very happy very professional and very knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended a few things on the menu, but I ended up trying their prime beef brisket with green beans and mac & cheese and it was delicious. Also, they made it super special for being my first time there that I got a free dessert. I highly recommend this place. The food was amazing, The service was great and the price was also great. I will totally come back here. Ambience was very great as well.

It's high time for an updated assessment of Delta Blues Smokehouse (DBS), which I last reviewed with a solid four stars in November 2017. Following my visit last night, I'm happy to report that DBS is now deserving of a full five stars. I've been to DBS quite a number of times since it succeeded the late Bone Daddy's almost a decade ago. What brought me back on this occasion was Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW), an annual culinary event that allows diners to give back to the community. At $39, DBS's HRW dinner is, in my book, a certified grand slam. My three-course meal began with the house salad, followed by a meat platter featuring two pork ribs with slices of beef brisket and pork belly, and was finished with a warm pecan cobbler. As I waited for the salad, I worried about how small each dish might be, but I was quickly proven wrong. The fact that it took me quite a while to finish the salad alone was a great indication that everything else would be just as sizable. The salad was fresh, though I do wish the croutons weren't quite so massive. But that's a minor detail, and it certainly didn't detract from the meal. The meats were, without a doubt, the major standout of the dinner. The ribs along with the cuts of brisket and pork belly were accompanied by tasty bowls of creamed corn pudding and cole slaw. I focused on the brisket and the pork belly first, and they were perfectly tender, juicy, and bore a great hint of smokiness. You might think with just two ribs, I ate them in a flash. However, that wasn't the case; the ribs were huge and so rich with deliciously sweet meat that easily fell off the bone. I even told the bartender--I was sitting at the bar to catch the Astros game--that because there was so much food, I almost forgot about the ribs! The pecan cobbler was a fitting ending to a truly massive dinner. The dessert itself was big beyond belief, but despite being stuffed, I still managed to make my way through it. I could describe it as sweet, rich, and satisfying. The ice cream that served as the foundation had melted, which I didn't mind at all since it meshed well with the pecans. To conclude, this HRW experience at DBS was nothing short of a five-star meal. It was truly one worth participating in.

PRIME BRISKET COMBO. Add the Rib!

This is good! Darn Good too. Brisket & Pork Belly Combo with a rib add on. Mac & Cheese with the Pork & Beans and a cold beer. Put a fork in me a call it done. Really good bark in the super tender meat then splash the Spicy Vinegar in the Belly and yoy got a winner

Good but overpriced

Went there for Father's Day 2025 and again for my wife's birthday July 2025. The food is pretty good, the restaurant is nice and all, the service or just okay. On father's day we were sat at a table with a constant condensation drip from the ceiling. I don't want that moldy water on my food. On my wife's birthday, they had a waiter that was in training and everyone starts somewhere, that doesn't make the experience any less irritating. They were really nice and all just forgetful and overwhelmed. This place was better when it was Bone Daddy's back in the day.

spirit-free Peach Pit and spirit-free Summer Breeze
Mark H.

Great food and drinks! We went for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon. We had a spirit-free Peach Pit and a spirit-free Summer Breeze! As you would expect, the spirit-free version was cheaper than the version with alcohol. Great that they have tasty mocktails. So important to encourage the designated driver. Appetizer: we shared a great plate of fried green tomatoes. Parents shared a brisket combo with smoked turkey and two sides: pork/beans and honey glazed carrots with only a little honey. One of us shared a Czech beef sausage with creamed corn/jalapeno and pork/beans

Stopped in with friends for a lard night bite. The place was not very crowded because they were closing in a hour. The food came out good and fast. Piping hot and fresh. Our waiter was very attentive and showed his face often Good food and a good time hanging with friends

Sticky Pork Belly Bites

We were in Houston for my Husband's work. He has a lot of cousins in Texas, and they always talk about the great BBQ there. I LOVE good BBQ. There is only one good place in San Diego, and our most favorite place has always been Virgil's Real BBQ - NYC! I found this place on Yelp, and I can officially say it is now our #1 favorite BBQ place thus far!!! Oh my goodness... let me tell you! Pork belly is a must! So tender and delicious. The ribs were huge! Also very tasty! The chicken wings were exquisite, and seasoned so well. The star of the show has to be the fried chicken though!!! Perhaps it's just me, because it's my favorite food. Oddly enough, it's hard to find excellent fried chicken... We're already trying to find an excuse to get back to Houston, JUST so we can eat at Pappas Delta Blues again! We were talking about nothing else on the plane ride home!!!

Blues Beef Brisket Queso

We came here with a party of eight on a Saturday and had an early reservation of 5:30 pm but it was still packed. We ordered a range of dishes, from steak, chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, brisket sandwiches and burgers. If you are the type of person who wavers between chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak, I can tell you that the chicken is better, but it is saltier. The burgers were reportedly good cooked at Medium and the brisket met expectations. Going back to the appetizers, the brisket nachos were a hit-it has beans!!, as was the brisket queso, and the chicken wings. For dessert, the mud pie was shared and it was as chocolatey as it was rich. They have screens and a bar area, but most people seemed really into their tablemates so the TVs didn't attract much attention. Service was good for the most part but we did have an incident where we waited entirely too long for the last two entrees (burger + brisket sandwich) to hit our table, but the manager addressed it, and also took those off our bill -which we didn't expect, simply wanted everyone to enjoy their food simultaneously. This is a bit of a drive for us but if I'm headed to/from Galveston, I'll keep it in mind for a stop.

Raspberry gin drink, I think it was Rose colored glasses

Delicious northern Indian/himalaya dinner. We are always looking for a good Indian restaurant and…read morewe have found it. A group of us one for dinner and we tried several different dinners and shared them amongst us. We were seated quickly and they accommodate our group of 10 easily, we placed our order in the food, came out, reasonably quickly. The main course started with a salad, and we ordered both garlic and buttered nan. Our main courses included mahkani chicken, vindaloo, fish, chicken biryani, spinach paneer, momo dumplings, and several orders of King of Texas platter. The flavors were wonderful, and when we ordered a few of us, ask them to dial up the spice, but be careful. The service was very good and attentive, and the restaurant was relatively quiet from noise. Some restaurants are just super noisy, and TAJ is not. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, I know you'll enjoy this restaurant.

Food: 4.6/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 4.5/5 Food- Let me preface by stating that I am not Indian nor Nepali. That being said, this is probably my favorite Nepali/Indian place in this area (albeit there are only a few). Here's my opinion on all the dishes we ordered on our most recent stop: Fish Pakora: Nothing too crazy, but still good and well seasoned Piro Chicken Wings: Really good flavor, but way too spicy for my family personally (we are not crazy on spice, though) Goat Tandoori Momo: Really good, no notes Chicken Makhani: Really rich in flavor, incredibly buttery Lamb Handi Curry: Amazing as well, though enjoyed Makhani more Chili Lamb Jerky: Probably the weakest dish we got. Just not my vibe and tasted like I was eating bones the whole time. Shrimp Noodle Soup: Accidentally got this dish, but not a disappointment in the slightest. Probably my favorite bite of the night. Shrimp Stir Fry Noodles: Also incredible with lots of standout spices added in. Garlic Naan: Never misses Chicken Biryani: So much depth of flavor, went perfectly with the meat dishes we ordered. Service/Ambiance- Great, with not much to complain about. Music was a little bit too loud considering how calm the restaurant's atmosphere would be otherwise. Servers were great and speedy even though it was late and not too crowded. Great place. There's not much more to add. Himalayan Taj is seemingly simple with no flashy presentation in how it's designed, but that allows great food to really shine. Despite my issues with a few of the dishes, this place is really worth a visit whether you're by yourself or with a large group.
