We came here for a girls dinner (plus my 1 year-old son) because my 5 year-old niece wanted to try a new place, and being self-proclaimed foodies; my sister, mom and I obliged. We were sat immediately even though the restaurant was fairly crowded. It was hard to choose what to get because there were lots of delicious sounding options. My sister got an appetizer - fried spinach and artichoke sticks. They were delicious! We enjoyed our dinner and our time together. Our waiter was wonderful, and the restaurant was very comfortable during our time there. The restaurant was busy, but didn't feel overly crowded and it wasn't too loud to have a conversation. It's not a huge place, but it's not cramped. We all agreed that we would come here again. read more

A decent place for a wide beer selection and bar food. Atmosphere is dark and mostly clean. Service is good -- not great. We arrived here after the typical Friday afternoon lunch hour; there was still some business happening. The manager was our server ... at least initially. Another dude took over until we had an issue with our appetizer (restaurant's fault, and they owned it, though the issue pretty much caused me to lose my appetite.) Food here is cooked fresh to order. Fish & Chips and Chicken Fried Steak were worthy. Fries were also served hot and crisp. Never did get the malt vinegar, but oh well. Would I come back? Sure. But I cannot give this joint high marks after my first visit. read more

Honestly, this place is great. Great beer selection, yes, but the real treat is the stellar service and excellent food. Seriously great, the food is really good. After stopping at and leaving one of our favorite lunch spots, J.Henry's came up first in my Yelp search. Located in a strip center, this place is pretty low key, but does have a growler fill drive through! Can't beat that! We sat at the bar, as usual. After a couple of small samples, hubs and I selected a beer from the many, many brews on tap. Most beers were from Texas breweries, which I really like. I had a salad with grilled chicken which was delicious. The veggies were cold, fresh and crisp. The chicken was warm, tender and juicy. Hubs had a fried fish sandwich which he said was excellent; perfect breading, tender and hot. French fries were thick cut and delicious. Excellent place for a beer, lunch or casual dinner. My friend and I needed food after having a few drinks at The Davenport. Luckily, J. Henry's is practically next door. It literally took less than a minute to drive over. When we arrived, it wasn't busy at all. It was open seating so we grabbed a booth, and the bartender came over quickly to take our drink order. I wasn't sure what I wanted so I told the bartender the types of beers that I like and he suggested the Altstadt Kolsch. It was really good and smooth! My friend had the 3 Nations Blue Raspberry Sucker Punch. They have 51 beers on draft and most of them are from Texas breweries. You can also purchase growlers: 64 oz. for $10 or 32 oz. for $7 plus the cost of beer. The food didn't take long at all to be brought out to us. My friend had the coconut shrimp. She subbed the fries with mashed potatoes. I ordered the herb crusted salmon. It was seasoned well, but was a tad salty. The flavors were delicious though. The veggies (carrots, squash, zucchini, asparagus) were prepared al dente and were very flavorful. I really enjoyed my meal! read more

had the tomato soup and the avocado sandwitch . the tomatoe soup was to creamy for my taste but it was good and the avocado had way more bacon it was too greasy and salty but you know we paid 15 dollars plus tax during lunch so i had to eat it over all very nice people fast services. read more

Love this place. Great beer selection - they have a beer board with about 40-50 selections that changed periodically, with seasonal options sprinkled in. Service is attentive, friendly and helpful if you want a recommendation. On top of that, their food is delicious. Not average burgers and fries - they have great sandwiches, salads and fish n' chips options too! Of course there are also great starter options too. Located on Clear Lake City Blvd just off Hwy 3, it features a small outdoor patio and plenty of parking lot space. This place was a great find. It's been here a while but we just recently tried it and the food is excellent (sorry we are not beer people, we are just here for the food). Staff and service is excellent. Fish and chips is EXCELLENT . I do wish the larger tables would remain separated and only be pushed together when needed for larger groups. A few times we've been and there's minimal seating so two tables pushed together only have 2 people at them but if separated could be better utilized for 2 groups. read more

My first time at J. Henry's and Trace was our server. I went with a group of ladies at lunchtime on Friday, November 14th. All together we had fish & chips, blackened fish tacos & greenbeans, wedge salad & poblano soup & chicken salad. Oh, and the soft pretzel! Every dish was so so good and Trace was spot on in menu knowledge, very personable and efficient. It was so good that I had to bring my husband for dinner on Saturday. We enjoyed a couple craft beers and the soft pretzel. This time I had the blackened fish tacos & greenbeans (they looked so good at lunch on Friday). They did not disappoint! My husband had the bacon wrapped, stuffed chicken with grilled slaw & garlic mashed potatoes. His plate was delicious too; you know we shared our dishes with each other! Robert was our server tonight and he was just fantastic as well; was helpful with beer selection, answered all our questions! I wish I had taken pictures of the food, but we scarfed it down before I thought about taking pics! Ten out of ten. Great food, great beer, safe neighborhood, great atmosphere, friendly, knowledgeable servers. We will be back! read more

Amazing burgers that we order from the fire station when we don't like what our wives packed us.

My daughter an I went for lunch for a daddy/daughter date. First impression is the place is clean and all the Covid stuff is being done like it should. We sat down and were greeted right away. Our server, I believe her name was Jill, was so nice and attentive. We ordered the chicken fried steak, and fish and chips. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The beer selection is awesome and I was able to try a coupe I've been looking at for a long time. The prices are pretty reasonable considering the quality. I highly suggesting saving room for the pretzel dessert. You will NOT be disappointed. I'm not a huge fan of sweets but dayum. My daughter could not have enjoyed our visit more. Food be bomb dot com! They can change anything if you don't want out that way. The servers are always great they see you walk in, they grab menus, go straight to you, and ask what kind of drink or started. Every time I leave I'm full and have a smile cause there's nothing ever wrong. We really like J Henry's Draught House as well as their sister restaurant in League City. Very nice menu with tasty choices and the kitchen does a great job at least 90% of the time. Ample selection of taps and the wait staff can usually guide you to something new if you want to try a new beer. A great place for friends and family. read more

Here I go, being the contrarian again. We'd been to this location in it's two prior lives, but this one seems to have broken the curse and this was our first visit. This is one of those restaurants ( actually a pub ) I can't understand the attraction. Maybe boy's thing meets girl's thing here or something. Or server was disinterested. Perhaps she should look into another line of work. Male servers and what appeared to be the manager were in a huddle shooting the stuff [euphemism substituted]. While waiting for our food we tried two beers on the list. Both had a strange taste. One was terrible and the other not good. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I've drunk beer all over Germany -- been there at Octoberfest. I'm not a fan of strong hops flavor but I can drink it, these just were not something I want to drink. We got the poblano chicken soup and the bacon, avocado and grilled cheese sandwich. The soup was bland and pretty much tasteless. The sandwich was passable but nothing I would mention to friends. When out of 6 things the the best is the fries, you know you're in the wrong place. Small place but good ambience. A few televisions are here for sports and so on. Lots of draft beer selections- around 50. All craft beers. Good selections of craft beers- so definetely something for a beer lover or a beer noob. Easy on the pocketbook, so you won't have sticker shock. Didn't order much, just some snacks. Got the pretzels and beer queso and some fries. We got a couple of beers each. Pretzels and beer queso was good, not too salty and nice flavor. Fries were good also- thick cut home style variety with a good seasoning. Server was great and very attentive. Menu is currently a qr reader thing, so be sure you bring your phone. Every time I come into Houston to visit I have to stop into good ol J Henry's for some tasty pretzel bites with their house made beer cheese and some buffalo cheesy meatballs. They have a number of beers on tap from around the world and are always willing to give you a taste and make educated recommendations if you're unsure on what to order. I had an IPA and sour this time around and I highly enjoyed both of them. I also had their buffalo chicken Mac n cheese which was pretty delicious.
