Squared off tine fork with the thickness of a thread.

Went here to have an Old fashion and a snack. The old fashion was good though I forgot to specify the liquor I wanted and I wasn't asked. They were delivered and not set on the little square napkin. Weird. The bartender was nice though. The bar atmosphere was unpleasant with the garish overhead lights. One of which most have been going out as it kept going dim then getting brighter at a pace just enough to mess with your eyes. Never have I been so sad to order the "sip only" old fashion and not something that you could drink faster to get out of there. But we tried to give the evening a chance. We decided to try some truffle fries. They were horrible. Barely cooked, certainly not crisp, not even browned, and looked like they were sprinkled with Kraft parmesan cheese. You know the one in the green can no one buys anymore? That was not any truffle oil I've ever had on delicious fries. The fries were also the frozen, right out of the bag thick, fat fries. Ugh. The silverware is laughable. I've had better quality plastic ware. The tines were squared off instead of pointed so you could barely stab a fry. Plus I didn't know metal could even be that thin. My nail file is more substantial...the one I got at Dollar Tree. Wait! I bet the silverware purchased at Dollar Tree would be an upgrade. I will have to look next time I'm in. Heck, plasticware would be an upgrade.

I was pleasantly surprised by The Backyard. It's in a little building with large outdoor seating area. We beat the dinner rush on a Friday about 5 pm. Immediately greeted and seated. Our meals were cooked extremely quickly and everything was hot and fresh. My wings were first and they were hot and crispy. Then the burger and fries which my guy loved. Then the salad. I was shocked at the generous portion of avocado as you see in the photo. The pico was pretty spicy so I picked out some of the jalapeños. The only thing that might have made it better was adding some black beans but otherwise still delicious. My guy was missing lettuce, tomato and pickle on his burger so you may have to ask if you want it. He thought it was an ok burger.and fries but left as a member of the clean plate club lol. Very convenient, clean, friendly and affordable place.

We randomly picked The Backyard from Yelp to try something new. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was too hot to sit outside so we sat in the back at a small table and enjoyed happy hour with fried pickles and drinks. We had a great meal and a good start to our date night! This place is small and sweet! The outdoor area looked fun, open and inviting, but it was too hot to sit outside! Stop in and enjoy! We didn't try it this time, but the mac and cheese looked amazing!!

I never thought I'd be writing a rave review about macaroni and cheese, but here I am. I'm going to start with the portion is HUGE so sharing is almost necessary. I had the Nola and it was AMAZING. It was sooo cheesy and the andouille sausage and blackened shrimp were phenomenal!! I can't wait to go back and try the elote and the lobster! Oh! And the Lemon Drop flight was very tasty!

Now that's a burger! Lots of veggies, thick patty & melted cheese -- YUM!

Lots of food choices in the area within a mile. Backyard is unique for its neighborhood vibe -- laid back, no frills, no nonsense bar with plenty of big screen TVs to catch games! Vikki is the bartender who digs skydiving & mixes a great Smoked Old Fashioned from a well-stocked bar. Since there was a light crowd my order should've been taken earlier rather than wait 10 minutes after I got my Coke. Anyway, I promptly got my order, the Classic Cheeseburger & it didn't disappoint (check the pix)! Worth the wait - hell yeah! I'm picky about veggies. Loved the cool crispy lettuce & what may have been TX 1015 onions, my fave! Really added to its taste. White onions have a kick to it & kills the overall flavor for me. Oh man, the nicely seasoned patty rivals 3rd Ward establishments and that's saying something, folks. Griddle toasted buns top off a burger that satisfies on all levels. The fries are a bit of a minus for me. Other choices are available for a substitution price & only reason I stayed with fries. No tater tots here but should be added sans an extra cost. Lose the extra fee, please. Great conversation at the bar where I sat to watch games with staff & neighborhood regulars. No one is a stranger here. Nice positive vibe that keeps me coming back! Also try the Fruit Punch Beer from their personal brewery! Backyard should also get more sports fan patronage. This is a cool Sports Bar Dive!

    Brisket Omelette with grits

Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Little did we know the main star of their menu "Mac n' Cheese" is only served later in the day (I believe it's after 2 pm) so time your visit wisely. I had the brisket omelette. It didn't have a lot of flavor nor did my grits-I doused them in Cholula sauce and got through it. It was a hearty serving however as was everyone's plate in our party. There was one person in our party of 8 who's food took a while but that was an anomaly because we saw the kitchen move pretty fast. Our server Chris was quite the character and there was a team approach so everyone who came to the table did so with a smile. Three stars only because there was one bathroom for all patrons and the food flavor.

    Chicken Parm Mac (to-go)
    Adam H.

I hate to be 'that guy,' but ... meh. The quality here is phenomenal, and the menu is fun. I avoided this joint because of the whole trite mac & cheese thing. But I finally caved and ordered the Chicken Parmesan Mac to-go. First, the serving size and (once again) quality of ingredients is worthy. The menu description didn't exactly describe what I received, as there was nary a bite of fried mozzarella in the dish. There was plenty of fried -- and very dry -- chicken; the mac was cheesier than an episode of 'Three's Company.' Sauce was decent, except that there was little more than a tablespoon, which is hardly enough to define the dish. Hedging one's bets on a classic American dish that (mostly) is based on a blue box is risky, but these folks know their mac & cheese. It's good stuff, but I was mostly unimpressed. $14. Really? Good luck, guys.

Atmosphere was good. Food was fine. Our server Shelbi was stressed so could have been a little better. We may be back but not going out of our way.

Good music, great drinks, and amazing food. The steak tacos are top tier! Beautiful platings and really great flavors. Also get the Bloody Mary flight, chefs kiss on the spicy Bloody Mary. Our server was super kind and he was a great guide to this delicious menu, thank you Christian!

I am currently eating the OG Mac n cheese. It is amazing! I came yesterday evening and grabbed some type of specialty mule, it was great. I heard amazing reviews about their crawfish over the past year or so. Today I returned & decided to try some food. They have a full menu & I believe bar. All I can say is the customer service is amazing. I believe yesterday Tyler was here & today Vickie is here. They have both been amazing. As for the ambiance aspect of things it is great, they have Open bar area, A patio/outdoors area, and plenty space for families/friends to get together for a meal or a drink. & the parking is very easy & accessible for EVERYONE. Veterans/Disable/ Elderly...ect.

Restaurant Review: The Velvet Quarter 2234 E. NASA Parkway,…read moreSeabrook, TX My friend and I visited The Velvet Quarter with the intention of enjoying a relaxed meal on the patio. When we arrived, we seated ourselves outside, where there was only one other group present. Despite the patio being very small and the waitress coming in and out several times, we were never acknowledged or approached. After waiting for some time, I went inside and spoke with the owner, Adolf. He came out to our table and briefly discussed menu options with us. I asked specifically about the fish and chips, as we were told some dishes were no longer available due to an earlier rush. He said he would go check on that for me--but he never returned. Fifteen minutes later, we still had not received any service. When the waitress came back onto the patio again, I called her over and asked when we might be helped. She told me she "did not see us there," which I found difficult to believe given the size of the patio. After that interaction, she did not return to take our order. I went back inside and spoke with the owner again, this time clearly frustrated. He looked me directly in the eyes, raised both hands, and said, "You can calm down now." He repeated it in a tone that felt condescending and dismissive. I responded, "Thank you for giving me permission to calm down," and at that point, I turned around, walked out, and left with my friend to dine elsewhere. I cannot comment on the quality of the food because we were never served. I can comment on the service, which was extremely poor. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate the service a zero. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to The Velvet Quarter.

My vehicle broke down at the dock at Lakeside Yachting Center during a storm, and I couldn't find a tow company willing to come get me. I ended up being stuck at the dock overnight. The staff at Seabrook Classic Cafe were incredibly kind and let me come in to charge my phone while I figured things out. I was very hungry, so I ordered their egg sandwich, and it was fresh and delicious. Even though I live about an hour away, that experience made such a good impression that I came back later to try more of their menu. I'm happy to say everything else I tried was just as good. The stuffed jalapenos were excellent, very flavorful and stuffed with crab and cheese. I also ordered the chicken fried chicken, which was great, especially with their toast. The fruit bowl was fresh, and of course I had to get another egg sandwich, which was just as good as I remembered. They even brought us a complimentary slice of carrot cake, and it was fantastic. I'll definitely be coming back again to get more of that carrot cake, and next time I'd also love to try their prime rib. Our server was very friendly, and I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It has a cozy, retro diner feel that makes it a great place to sit down and relax. This restaurant has absolutely earned my business. Even though I live an hour away, I make multiple trips to the South, and I'll definitely be stopping here often!
