Swings at Bubble Jungle
Tara T.

Absolutely love it here! Tied for first place as my favorite Kemah bar. The food truck is amazing, they have crawfish quesadillas that are to die for. The vibe is super relaxed and chill- the swings are our favorite place to be but they have games out there too like jenga, darts and corhole. Service is super quick. Sometimes they even have an outside bar incase it's busy inside but usually the bartenders are on top of it anyway. Tina and Cody are our favorites out there!

Service each time has been fast, and consistent. All of the staff we have worked with knew the menu, and had great suggestions. They also frequently checked in on us and we didn't wait too long for anything. The most recent visit had Brad working with us, and he did a great job. Food wise, Gouda Mushroom Burger is fantastic every time. A great mix of flavors, and a hefty burger, you will not be disappointed. Every time we have come here, someone gets it. The fries are also well seasoned and tasty. Highly recommend. I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Chicken. This was absolutely fantastic. Served over a bed of sauteed serrano slaw (which was amazing, I usually don't like slaw), this delightful concoction was stuffed with cream cheese spinach artichoke and cream cheese with a balsamic glaze over the top. It comes with very good mashed potatoes. I don't like most restaurants potatoes, so that's a bonus win. Really enjoyed, would get it again. The beer! They have a really good menu that rotates. They have local craft brews, in addition to your standard domestics. They also have ciders for those that don't fancy a beer. Our last visit I had a Belgian Tripel, and a Pumpkin Stout. Delish! A great spot for a lunch or chill dinner. Plenty of tv space for games. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

I'm finally dusting off my old 2017 review for Boondoggles to provide an update…read more I returned here last night for a pre-birthday outing. While randomly Googling, I remembered Boondoggles and decided to give the 'old place' another try. My first visit was for a dinner with classmates from UHCL; my second was with my brother. The eatery looked practically the same as it did nearly eight years ago. Its dive bar meets German beer hall vibe is still very much alive, and the place was still bustling with people. I came in with fish and chips on my mind, but a lengthy scan of the menu led me to the Florentini Chicken, while my brother ordered the shrimp po-boy. The Florentini Chicken was really good, and I think it's a solid choice for the health-conscious. The chicken was tender and the vegetables were perfectly crisp. My only wish was that the entire dish had been a bit larger, as the mashed potatoes were gone in just a few spoonfuls. On reflection, while the Florentini Chicken deserves a try, I'll probably stick with pizza next time. I asked my brother how he liked his shrimp po-boy, and he had no complaints, so I'll take that as a sign he enjoyed it. Price-wise, while the costs may have risen over the years, they were not unreasonable.

Saloon Door Brewing: Worth the Hunt Some places announce…read morethemselves. Others make you wonder whether your GPS has developed a sense of humor. Saloon Door Brewing is the second kind: tucked into an industrial complex in the Clear Lake area, somewhere you could easily overlook if you weren't looking for it. Not exactly the setting that screams, "Your afternoon gets better here." But that's the beauty of it. Find the door, step inside, and the search starts to make sense. This is my kind of hidden gem--not because it's trying to be mysterious, but because what matters is waiting inside: remarkably good beer and a place where you can actually enjoy the company you came with. The selection is excellent, but my personal favorite is Tasty AF. Imagine Guinness crossed with a Snickers bar. Dark stout meets chocolate and peanut butter--the sort of combination that sounds like somebody got carried away until you taste it and realize they knew exactly what they were doing. It's dessert with a brewery address, and I mean that as a compliment. If choosing feels like a commitment you're not ready to make, get a flight. In mine, each little glass seemed to outdo the one before it. You pick a favorite, take another taste, reconsider. It's a good problem to have, and a much better way to explore the selection than staring at the choices and pretending you already know what you want. But the beer is only half the story. On my visit, the room wasn't loud. Nobody had to lean across a table and shout a perfectly ordinary sentence three times. You could have a beer and a conversation without either fighting for your attention. The place was simply pleasant. That sounds like faint praise until you remember how many bars manage to make sitting down feel exhausting. Saloon Door gets the important things right: beer that tastes unbelievably good and an atmosphere that lets you appreciate it. No need to complicate the verdict. It's a huge winner. So pull it up on your GPS before you head out. Treat finding it like a small scavenger hunt, with a good conversation and a very good beer at the end. Some destinations are worth a little searching. This one absolutely is.

It's an easy place for all kinds of gatherings, especially ones with big groups and a thirsty penchant for beer. In a place like Webster where chains rule and suburban life is abundant, Saloon Door stands out as an excellent local option. It may not look like much from the outside and even the interior is minimal, but that somehow doesn't matter when groups of people are enjoying their brews together. They host all sorts of events and also allow for private use of dare venue space. Any first timer should absolutely indulge in a beer flight with some kind. The brewmasters are kind enough to let folks sample to their heart's content. Not everybody is beer savvy (#1) but they do a good job of recommending the right ones for any given palate. I appreciate their selection of stouts, ales, light brews, and IPAs. I have a fondness for their peanut butter milk stout, as well as dar dildo pickle gose. The tasty AF is also a good one, as is the lava imperial hot rock beer. The ladder has an ABV of 11%, so it is the most potent one in their lineup that I know of. Most breweries like this aren't always known for food, but there are some nice deals to be had here. Their taco Tuesday nights are popular since board games and happy hour beers are apparently a thing. The Friday deal for $15 inlcudes a burger, fries, and a beer would is very affordable in these times. Thursday nights they activate their projection screen and do a " a retro video game" night with plenty of multiplayer and beer specials. I always look forward to coming here. There is no pretense, plenty of good service, and even more good beer. __________ (#1) ::::coughs:::: me.
