Cabo's used to be a great waterfront bar with good food, music, and atmosphere, but it has gone completely downhill. On a Friday night there were maybe 20 people, no band, no DJ, and the place just felt lifeless. They don't even use the downstairs anymore--no more sitting on the swings watching the water, which used to be the best part. The building is falling apart: chairs are peeling and broken, bathrooms don't work properly, and the TVs are awful. It honestly looks abandoned. The only positive left is the staff--they're friendly and do their best--but even they've been cut back. The owner is clearly running it into the ground. Maybe they're planning to sell, and if so, I can only hope someone buys it who actually cares. Really sad to see what this place has become.

I love this place. I usually sit outside on the patio over the water and have a margarita. The margs are so good! 2-3 will have you feelin great @ $6 each. The food is really good too. My friend and I usually come here when we decide to go out for girls night. Saturday nights they usually have a small live band inside. Just a really good atmosphere, good food and friendly staff. Also DOG FRIENDLY PATIO no breed restrictions!

Fun spot on the water. I usually stop for a bite and drink when I take the boat out on the lake.

Poor management, poor wait staff and very rude. The management is the most unprofessional I've ever seen. I do not recommend this place.

It sits tucked into the middle of a working shipyard and repair station, perched high on stilts, looking out over the boat canal that cuts toward Clear Lake. Boats nose in nearby. Machinery, water, salt air, and the honest clutter of a place that actually does something surround it. That, to me, is already a good sign. The place still has that new-restaurant sheen on it, but not in a sterile, corporate way. It was busy when we went--boaters, locals, the kind of crowd that usually knows where the good fried things live. There was something about it that reminded me of Outriggers under the bridge: casual, loud enough, coastal, and unpretentious in all the right ways. Now, the food. I ordered the shrimp basket, expecting the usual sad parade of frozen, breaded, food-service mediocrity. That is not what showed up. These were real Gulf Coast shrimp, plump and properly fried, with a batter that tasted homemade--cornmeal, spice, crunch, and restraint. Close to perfect, if we are being honest. And the hush puppies? Dangerous. The kind of side dish that stops being a side dish after the first bite. I could have sat there with a basket of those, a cold Shiner Bock, and called it dinner without complaint. The waitstaff and bar crew were friendly, quick, and seemed genuinely glad to be there, which is not nothing. Food came out fast. The whole experience had the rare pleasure of a place exceeding expectations without trying too hard. I went in unsure what to make of Sammy G's. I left knowing exactly what I thought: I will be back, and probably more often than I should.

Best Bites takes you to Seabrook!…read more Today, while visiting my grandson, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Athena's Corner Greek Restaurant in Seabrook, and it was absolutely delicious! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm Mediterranean charm. The restaurant is beautiful, inviting, and filled with Greek-inspired décor. You can choose to dine inside or relax on their lovely outdoor patio. Our waitress, Rachel, was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. She made us feel right at home! We kicked off our meal with a couple of appetizers, and they were every bit as impressive as they were delicious. The hummus was smooth, creamy, and served with warm, fluffy pita bread. We also enjoyed the falafels--perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, and even better dipped in their spicy feta spread! For my entrée, I chose the Lunch Special featuring a savory spinach pie, served with a fresh Greek salad and a cup of their famous Avgolemono (Greek lemon soup) . It was light, comforting, and packed with flavor. My grandson ordered the Chickpea Salad , a dish he loved so much on a previous visit that he couldn't resist ordering it again. That's always a good sign! My husband selected the Stuffed Shrimp Special . The plate was absolutely beautiful--jumbo baked shrimp stuffed with a savory crab dressing, served over a bed of mushroom orzo. It tasted every bit as incredible as it looked! If you're ever in Seabrook, Texas, and you're craving something fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, I highly recommend Athena's Corner Greek Restaurant. You'll enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, outstanding hospitality, and food that's made with care and bursting with authentic flavor. Best Bites Approved! Have you been to Athena's Corner? While randomly Googling, I remembered Boondoggles and decided to give the 'old place' another try. My first visit was for a dinner with classmates from UHCL; my second was with my brother. The eatery looked practically the same as it did nearly eight years ago. Its dive bar meets German beer hall vibe is still very much alive, and the place was still bustling with people. I came in with fish and chips on my mind, but a lengthy scan of the menu led me to the Florentini Chicken, while my brother ordered the shrimp po-boy. The Florentini Chicken was really good, and I think it's a solid choice for the health-conscious. The chicken was tender and the vegetables were perfectly crisp. My only wish was that the entire dish had been a bit larger, as the mashed potatoes were gone in just a few spoonfuls. On reflection, while the Florentini Chicken deserves a try, I'll probably stick with pizza next time. I asked my brother how he liked his shrimp po-boy, and he had no complaints, so I'll take that as a sign he enjoyed it. Price-wise, while the costs may have risen over the years, they were not unreasonable.

My vehicle broke down at the dock at Lakeside Yachting Center during a storm, and I couldn't find a tow company willing to come get me. I ended up being stuck at the dock overnight. The staff at Seabrook Classic Cafe were incredibly kind and let me come in to charge my phone while I figured things out. I was very hungry, so I ordered their egg sandwich, and it was fresh and delicious. Even though I live about an hour away, that experience made such a good impression that I came back later to try more of their menu. I'm happy to say everything else I tried was just as good. The stuffed jalapenos were excellent, very flavorful and stuffed with crab and cheese. I also ordered the chicken fried chicken, which was great, especially with their toast. The fruit bowl was fresh, and of course I had to get another egg sandwich, which was just as good as I remembered. They even brought us a complimentary slice of carrot cake, and it was fantastic. I'll definitely be coming back again to get more of that carrot cake, and next time I'd also love to try their prime rib. Our server was very friendly, and I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. It has a cozy, retro diner feel that makes it a great place to sit down and relax. This restaurant has absolutely earned my business. Even though I live an hour away, I make multiple trips to the South, and I'll definitely be stopping here often!

I used to come here all the time with an ex-boyfriend but haven't been back in years. I made the drive from Katy to Bacliff to pick up some vintage garden trellises, and at just two miles away, I immediately knew lunch had to be at T-Bone Tom's. One of my favorite things about this place is the absolutely massive outdoor seating area. It's covered, so normally it's a fantastic place to sit without roasting in direct sun, but after several days of heavy rain mixed with Houston humidity and temperatures around 90 degrees, there was absolutely no convincing anyone in my party that sitting outside for lunch was a good idea. Only my second time ever sitting indoors here. The place was already bustling by 11:30 and packed by noon, which tells you everything you need to know. We were greeted immediately when we arrived, and even though we came through the back entrance for patio seating, the hostess was cheerful and accompanied us to the dining room, where we were also immediately greeted by one of the indoor hostesses. Our server Joshua was excellent throughout the meal--friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always on top of things. We started with drinks and boudin balls, which came with four and ranch dressing. I tend to go through phases of what I'm addicted to, and right now it's boudin balls. If it's on the menu, I'm ordering them. These were fried to perfection, hot, and delicious. A great appetizer to start the meal. While we waited to order our main course, there were two things our table seemed to rave about: giant drink glasses and crackers. It sounds silly, but not having to constantly wait around for refills makes a big difference. And crackers on the table? It seemed like memory lane for the older members of our party, who quite enjoy bits of nostalgia. So few restaurants bother doing little things like that anymore, so my lunch selection was awarding me kudos before the lunch even started! Mom and Mark split the 14 oz. ribeye with spinach and potato salad. Although splitting two sides might have been enough, Mom added a side of mashed potatoes for herself. It's always a toss up with restaurants and steak. True mediums aren't always a true medium--you have to order medium rare or medium well to get it just right. But the medium here is actually a medium. Mom kept talking about how delicious the steak was and said it was one of the best she's had in a long time. If you know my mom, compliments don't come easy. It's a big deal. Ha. I ordered the plate I always get: the Monterey chicken with fried okra and spinach. It may have been years since I was last here, but this dish is as excellent as it has always been, if not better. The chicken was incredibly tender, cooked perfectly, and covered with flavorful mushrooms and onions. I also really love that their vegetables are homemade rather than straight out of a freezer bag. The fried okra and fresh spinach were wonderful. Berta ordered the chopped beef sandwich with potato salad. They gave her so much beef, there was enough for two people to enjoy that plate. She ended up taking more than half home. We finished the meal with vanilla ice cream and their infamous bread pudding, which was warm, rich, and easily enough dessert for four people to share. Mom had ordered it for herself and said she didn't want to share, but when she saw how big the portion was, she asked Berta and I to join in. T-Bone Tom's is a popular place among locals and tourists alike. It offers great food, a fun atmosphere, friendly service, and remains one of those places that still feels uniquely Texas in the best possible way. We'll definitely be back, and much sooner this time!
