It's been a while since my first review of this place. They use to have impeccable servers but since Kristen has been gone, the service is mediocre. It wasn't too busy and the girl who served us tonight didn't even advise us of her name. Nonetheless, she wasn't too attentive and that's me being nice. It's a good thing my son loves this place but he'll be going back to college and it was his choice as always. He too complained about the service. Wow! This place is a hidden gem. My friends and I went and were blown away by it. The food was enough to feed an army. The Mac and cheese pans are big enough for at least two people. The Stoner fries are fantastic! Ask for extra sauce. Oh, and Christian helped with food and drink suggestions plus he is just fun! It's a local business with a relaxed feel. Will definitely return. Nice hidden gem in the heart of Seabrook! I wouldn't have expected this kind of a place there, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. We ate outside on their beautiful patio. It's well decorated with patio lights and they're equipped with heaters on those rare cold nights you'll find in southeast Texas. They're known for their specialty mac & cheese dishes. I got the Viet Mac which is mac & cheese with a Vietnamese twist. Came with steak slices, ginger, basil, and drizzled with sriracha and bread crumbs. This was unique but delicious! Of course it's not authentic Vietnamese but it surely is a great fusion. The owner was super friendly and came out to talk to us for a while. I'm really interested to try their other macs, so I'll definitely be back on a nice day to enjoy their awesome patio! read more

Every single time me and my husband have coming here with our pup has never been disappointing. Chris and Shelby are always welcoming to us. Especially the regulars. I will say this is the place to where your dogs are welcomed with love. Knowing that Sam's boat rejected our baby and so did Dan's pizza which I believe is being run by different owners. Food is absolutely great. Never had a let down. I love the classic burger and the hot dog as well. Very filling for my tiny stomach. Love the atmosphere and vibe. Service was very slow it took them 20 minutes for someone to notice us and bring out drinks and another 30 to take our order and that's with me having to waive down a server! From the comfort food to the comfort environment. Overall not a horrible experience but it definitely did not live up to the hype. Came in on a Friday night and sat right away. The restaurant was pretty bare for being a Friday night but it was nice and clean. Our server wasn't very personable and just seemed annoyed to have to be waiting on us. Our 4 entrees came out at different times with the first person waiting a little over 10 minutes before everyone else was served. Even then, one order wasn't complete and was incorrect. Getting the extra things that were supposed to be included took a while again. And I'm talking mustard and lettuce, so it was nothing that should have taken very long. We were having some drinks but even those took a while to get from the bar...that we were sitting next to...in a pretty bare restaurant....with a group of 4 sitting at the bar. We had to remind the server about a drink and were told the bartender was working on it. Then saw her walk to the bar, tell the bartender, who then proceeded to give her the canned drink before bringing it over. The food was ok but didn't have that homemade taste we were hoping for. They used to have gluten free and vegan Mac but not anymore. My wife has sensitivities to those so she was looking forward to trying that. Not a huge deal there, just for anyone that may be looking for those options. Before we could order a last round of drinks we were presented with our checks, so we took that as it was our time to leave. I want to like this place so much as the ambience was great but the service was just bad and management/owner unfriendly and it ruined the experience. It seemed like they were struggling. Food was good but came out wrong after a very long wait. Then bill was wrong charging us for the wrong food and they were put out to fix, as if it was our fault they made something we did not order. Felt like them having business was an inconvenience and the female owner/manager/bartender was just doing us a favor by existing. Quite awkward meal as a whole. It's been a year since I've been out here and had to come back. I lover the food a year ago and love it even more now. These tacos are hands down some of the greatest tacos I've had in a long time. Meat was tender and well seasoned. Tortillas were thin which was great because I could taste everything in the taco without the tortilla taking away from it. Pork belly bites were delicious and the service was excellent. The location itself is easy to get to and great for a date night or just a nice evening dinner. Love this place!!! read more

Since I never got a reply to my email I'll post it here. Dear Jared K, I am writing to follow up on my recent experience at The Backyard. On March 2nd I spoke with a manager regarding the poor service I received. I was promised a gift card as compensation for the situation, but unfortunately, I have yet to receive it. As I mentioned in conversation via mobile with the manager I had to wait almost an hour for my food. To begin, it took an unreasonably long time for my food to arrive. By the time my order was finally brought to the table, everyone else in our party had already finished eating. I was left waiting for so long that, at one point, I decided to cancel my order, as it seemed unlikely that it had even been started. To my surprise, my food arrived nearly 30 minutes after I had canceled, which leads me to believe my order was never even put in properly. I had ordered poached eggs, which, quite frankly, I didn't expect to take over an hour to prepare. That is completely unacceptable. My experience was so far below the standard I expected from your restaurant. The delays and lack of communication were bad enough, but the situation only worsened when the waitress arrived with my order. When I informed her that I had canceled my order and no longer wanted it, she had the audacity to get an attitude with me. Quite frankly, the only person who should have been upset was me. I was the one who had to endure an absurdly long wait and the inconvenience of a canceled order, not her. To make this situation even worse, I never received my food, never received the gift card that was promised, and -- to this day -- never received a reply to my initial email. I have to say, your commitment to disappointing customers is truly unmatched. To be honest, I have no interest in further communication, nor do I wish to receive the gift card. No amount of money could persuade me to return. read more

My family visited on a Sunday afternoon between lunch and dinner. The restaurant is in a house. It's super cute and cozy. We spent time checking out all of the different artwork. We were able to seat ourselves. Our server immediately greeted us and brought us water. She and the other servers were all friendly and helpful. We ordered several items based on reviews we had read. For appetizers, we chose pork belly bites and Parmesan truffle fries. The pork belly bites are a must try! They had ample amount of sauce on them and were tender and delicious. For meals we decided on wings. We ordered lemon pepper, which is a dry rub, and hot honey garlic, which is a sauce. Both wing flavors were equally good so order based on what you know your palate preferences are. My youngest son ordered the cheeseburger and fries. He didn't offer a review haha. We also ordered OG Mac and Cheese which is great for someone who isn't trying venture out to new tastes. It's the perfect amount of cheesy goodness. We also tried the Viet Mac. It is in interesting blend of flavors that goes surprisingly well with the macaroni. We will definitely be visiting again! read more

All right, here we go buckaroos. The backyard is a wonderful place for carbs,fa and more carbs. Not for me that is not the greatest food to help with my summer bikini line. But, the food is so good it warms the cockles of my heart.(I have no idea what a is or why it is associated with your heart.) I digress! They do the most amazing things with mac and cheese. I really enjoyed the Mac& cheese with bacon and a bottle of liquid carbs. It is the perfect place to eat comforting food for the working class. Yahoo. It is definitely not fine dining. But, it is wonderfully good food. Going to the backyard fulfills all of those cravings for good food, and good proportions I always leave with a very contented belly and a smile on my face. If you are running a marathon and need to carb load, this is the place. If not then just enjoy the food and undo the top button on your jeans, you will take me for that later. read more
