Last night was approximately the 3rd or 4th time ordering food from Gators. The first few times it was pretty good but last night was another story. I ordered a Filet and it was decent. The steak was tender and cooked right but had more fat than usually found in this cut. My sides were awful. The baked potato (which was loaded, minus chives) had tons of cheese on it, not in a good way and that's it! The potato was hard with a weird texture. It was not like a nice hot fluffy potato should be. I ordered sautéed mushrooms to go on my steak and never have I tasted anything this bad. It tasted like burnt, dirty, greasy grill. I couldn't eat either the mushrooms or potato. My side salad, was lousy, a 7 year old could have done a better job. I didn't dine in so I can't attest to how that is but for $33.00 for just one meal, I was extremely disappointed. So many places are not upholding the good ole, "make good food, make return customers" and Gators unfortunately is one of them. If you don't make consistently good food, expect to lose customers. There are way too many other options. I highly doubt I'll ever eat here again. read more

What a terrible garbage experience. Saturday 7:45 3 tables and 4 servers and we waited over 10 mins to get acknowledgment from the server/bartender girl just to get drinks- then another 10 to order. The servers were more worried about snacking and gossiping than doing their jobs. The fact no one was here and they were this slow is pitiful. While the server was nice to wait that much to order was annoying. The restaurant itself self is clean but the bathrooms were not. The food was good- the shrimp gumbo was delicious but the shrimp were so big you had to take em out to cut them to enjoy- but that's not a problem. The crawfish was meh- no flavor-but nice size and garlic butter helped. The chicken wrap was good and plentiful. Overall not my first choice when we come into town. Hopefully they can fix staffing and being more timely! read more

Gators is our go-to local watering hole -- Great weekly specials and friendly staff/service every time we visit. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon after doing some shopping and tried their sample plater appetizer and it was the perfect size for sharing. Pizza eggrolls were AMAZING and the cheese curds were perfect. Really good fried pickles too. This is a great spot for families, people looking for a local restaurant to support and a good spot for sports fans -- Lots of room at the bar and plenty of TVs. read more

Lunch: Valeria kept coming to our booth too many times & too frequently. She seemed shy & was very soft spoken. Maybe she's new or part-time? Food came with no butter for cornbread; we asked for it and got only 1 that was so cold it didn't melt. Also had to ask for extra napkins. Something to add on to menu for Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is "Ranch Dressing sauce". ... one of us didn't like the Ranch Dressing, and it wasn't in the description on the menu. And PLEASE toast the bread on both sides, so it won't get soggy and fall apart like it did. Pork chop was very good and moist. All portions were very good for the price. The atmosphere is great. The layout is good.. Our server Kaedlyn was very good and made sure we had everything attended to quickly and courteously. The beer is nice and cold. The food leaves a little to be desired. The lemon pepper wings lacked lemon pepper and were very plain. The mushroom Swiss burger was cooked perfectly, to my wife's instructions, fully cooked... but was still juicy. The cornbread was good also. It's worth the trip overall. read more

When it comes to eating out in Dickinson, you have to go off the beaten path to find some solid establishments. That means traveling east or west along FM 517 in an attempt to satisfy what you're in the mood for. The newly opened Gator's Bar and Grill seeks to change all that, and safe to say, it appears to be a harbinger in offering great, no frills dining along Dickinson's segment of the Gulf Freeway. I came here just before the post-work surge a little before 5 p.m. yesterday. It was easy to get a seat as I was situated in a booth mere moments after I walked in. My first takeaway of the place was it provided an atmosphere that it was open to all i.e. you can bring the whole family here. Seeing as it has "Bar and Grill" in its name and TVs at each corner, the uninitiated could be forgiven for thinking it was built for sports fans. However, that's a different story for a different day. I had my heart set on having their flamed grilled pork chop, but alas, they were sold out. In its place, I got the grilled chicken breast. My first go-around here commenced with a surprisingly big bowl of the baked potato soup. Hearty doesn't even begin to describe it. Every spoonful had me figuratively giving myself a pat in the back because as someone who loves baked potatoes, it occurred to me that they'd taste even better in some other form. Given its size, I was on my way to stuffed halfway through the bowl. The grilled chicken arrived before I finished the soup. At first glance, I was impressed with the presentation. Bowl of mac 'n' cheese on the top left, the entrée on the top right, a hunk of cornbread on the bottom left, and last but not least, the basmati lemon herb rice on the bottom right. Surely, the kitchen staff prepared my meal with excellent precision and care. Wow, just wow. The chicken was on point. Not only was it huge, but it bore a taste I would describe as fresh and devoid of grease. I really tasted the faint smokiness from the grill. And that to me says home cooked. The mac 'n' cheese and the rice made for nice pairings; I really enjoyed them both. Service wise, John A. really took care of me. He was frequently checking on me to make sure I was doing alright, as well as kept the sweet iced tea flowing. It would be really cool to come back here and have him as a server again. It's my hope the business succeeds as it's located in a strip center that doesn't have much places to eat. As I said earlier in the review, Gator's could start a trend in the Dickinson dining scene. read more

5 Stars!!! I hate to admit that I've passed by this intersection almost daily and never thought twice about this place. I'm uncertain how or why, but I always thought this was some rowdy adult bar. Boy was I mistaken! It's extremely kid friendly and the food is actually delicious. My mind was own when we stopped by last night after walking through the Christmas lights at Hopkins park. This place is very clean and the owners are local firefighters. I had the pleasure of speaking with them and they're so kind and humble. Very good people! The food was way above average. It's like your local Chilis or Applebees vibe, only the homemade food was a perfect 10! Our waiter, Shai, was spot on! He handle our kiddos perfectly and gave exceptional recommendations. This guy was so awesome that when my husband went to tip, he felt the need to disclose that our large table was already charged automatic gratuity, but that'd he really appreciated our generosity! I've driven by this place literally hundreds of times and always thought I should stop in and see how it was. Finally had a chance Sunday afternoon. I had a mushroom swiss burger with fries. The burger was very good, cooked perfectly medium rare, and the fries were excellent. The place was very lalaid back for Sunday afternoon. They had the games on but was still able to have a great conversation. The bartender, Kaylee, was attentive and very pleasant. Service was quick, the beer was cold, and the place was nice and clean. We never had gator before so we weren't sure what to expect. Yep- it tastes like chicken! It may have been better if it was not over fried. The butte cake was so delicious! If you are not a fan of asparagus you may still want to try this one. They don't taste like asparagus, but more like fried pickles. So me and my wife had dinner and it was a good start , great waiter and great vibes with board games and sports on the tv ...till we get to our food ! I order the brochette plate which is just shrimps wrapped in bacon with jalapeños and cheese .. well as you can tell in the photo I have no cheese and the only jalapeños was cute into tooth pick sizes lol the one in the picture is the biggest piece I got .. some didn't even have cheese or jalapeños lol... so the manager came over and was super passive aggressive telling me there is jalapeños and cheese which obviously got nothing lol so they got mad at me bc I didn't want to get a new order and get refunded for my food not the even the whole check lol and they still never even apologized for that ...will not be going very disappointed in management and how they treated me .... read more

Sat at the bar and received some of the worst service we have experienced. Bartender was too busy waiting hand and foot on the guys at the corner of the bar. She made our first drinks, never came back to take an order or to even ask if we wanted additional drinks. We sat for 45 minutes. Finally had to yell across the bar just to get our bill. Mind you it was me and my husband and 3 other guys at the entire bar. When she wasn't occupied by them she was stocking the bar. Just didn't give two cares about us. What a great hidden gem! I came from Scallywags where they seemed annoyed to serve and the drinks were just average to this spot and what a difference!!! From the moment I came in I was greeted with a smile and Phoenix served me up a frozen coke and Southern Comfort and treated me like I was family. I get that vibe here that everyone works very well together to bring speedy and friendly service. Management has hired the best of the best here. I later ordered some Kickin Bourbon BBQ wings and so delicious...more sweet and tangy than spicy ,which was what I was in the mood for. But there are several other flavors if tangy/ sweet isn't your thing. The menu is a great variety of burgers, wings and salads and such. While I was eating another gentleman checked on me to make sure I was ok. I was just blown away by how much everyone here is on it and genuinely cares about the customer. I was admiring their unique bar and was informed they had the middle piece with blue lighting surrounding interesting bottles specially crafted. It casts a beautiful soft, blue hue around that whole area that feels very chill and relaxed.I love when places put their own flare with special touches like this. Gators Bar and Grill What an amazing lunch! I read that some firefighters owned it, so wanted to give it a try. They have an art egret with fireman artwork out front. The frwy exit is a nightmare, but the relaxing atmosphere, delicious food with unique options and specials, personable waiters (John was great) and this patio looks fun when the weather cooperates...were all worth the traffic. Fried PICKLED asparagus and blood orange margaritas with some house wine started the lunch off right. Catfish special is Thursday's special and was huge with perfectly fried fish. The chili was homey and delish - also they use it for Friday's Frito Pie special. I had the bowl with Mac and cheese and grilled chicken that comes drizzled with bbq sauce, but I eyeballed spicy andouille cream sauce on another appetizer and asked them to sub the drizzle and it was FAB. They didn't even blink at my request - super nice! I am a very picky Mac n cheese person and this was cheesy, homey, and I even had to take half home for tomorrow. They have specials for each day, lunch specials, a happy hour menu and even a low carb /gf menus. They had shelves of games in tubs for families and life-sized Jenga on the patio too. We ordered the grilled shrimp that came with two sides (I ordered grilled asparagus and herbed rice) and hubby ordered the build your own burger with bacon and fried egg- super juicy! This is a newly opened bar and grill that we decided to give a try. There are some obviously new things about this place - including the wait staff. It was so awkward every time the waiter came to our table. The food was not bad, but it was a little overpriced in my opinion. We ordered cheese curds for $10.95 and there was probably about 20 of them...maybe. Then, we ordered a grilled chicken sandwich to share for $13.95 but it didn't come with cheese so they added shredded cheese for $1.95. LOL. Overall, I probably won't be returning. read more

Our party of 5 stopped in for lunch after church. (We like to try new places every week) It wasn't very crowded and we were greeted & seated promptly. Our waiter Corey was very courteous and attentive. They definitely need a beer list to hand to customers and so the waiters know what they stock. Corey had to keep checking to see if they offered the beers we wanted. We had wings, fries and pretzel bites. The food was really good.
