We had friends visiting from out of town and gave them options for lunch and they picked Cookshack! Another 5-star Cookshack experience! It's always amazing to me that these restaurants are in strip plazas but on the inside, they never seem like it. The look is so cool. Rustic but modern. White subways tile, raw wood, black accents, Edison lights. Love it, All the staff were top notch! Order at the counter, take a seat and they'll bring your food to you! For food, our group went with: the chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles, 3 piece tenders and a salad. Everyone LOVED their meals. This was my third visit to a Cookshack and I've ONLY gotten chicken sandwich and it was once again, it was perfection. My husband has only gotten the chicken and waffles and he said it was the only thing he plans on getting here. Haha. We know what we love. Download the Cookshack app and gets points for FREE food!
Pretty solid chicken tenders! The spice levels dont play! I always get a medium and it's the perfect amount of spice before it gets unbearable! (But once in a blue moon I'll get a craving for that Texas hot spice level) The staff are always very nice and attentive, especially this last visit we made! Young gentleman took our finished plates and made sure to ask if we needed anything. The sides are okay, I feel like they balance out the chicken very well!
I got food Togo! Got the loaded fries with coleslaw and brisket, a kids nuggets with shack sauce and kale salad and we got a 3 piece tender with sweet heat sauce and gravy and sweet potato fries! We wanted to try a variety! Everyone was fresh and delicious!
I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and was finally able to while running errands the other day. I like it! The service was fast and friendly! I ordered tenders with mild heat and a side of macaroni. They arrived on a slice of bread with some sauce on it. I could have done without the sauce as it was very spicy! I also ordered a side of remoulade which had a kick but a really good flavor! It's like campfire sauce with a combination of ketchup and mayo together with seasoning. Super yummy! They have a few beers on tap but I don't think they have a full bar. The Mac and cheese was country style and very tasty! The tenders were cooked just right and tasted fresh! Next time though, I'll probably get "no heat" as the mild with the sauce was on the spicier side for me. We'll definitely be back to eat again soon!
Hot chicken is popping up everywhere! Walking in we were greeted by a worker behind the register. She was kind, polite, and helpful. As we asked questions about the menu, she was able to answer them all and give her input on items. I ordered 5 pieces of tender hot and 2 no spice with fries. Also came with a piece of toast and a dipping sauce, I choose their shack Sauce. The sauce was nothing that stood out so it was just there. The tenders were a good size and the heat level was a good spice. I was able to taste a piece of waffle from my brother in law and it was a good combo. The waffle was fluffy and not dense at all. I almost for to talk about the fries and that's probably because they tasted like regular ole fries nothing special versus other places. Over all good place with good workers.
OMG! Soooo happy we decided to try this joint! Greeted warmly upon walking in. Place is open, clean and even has padded chairs! I had to order the chicken and waffle... medium spice.. with the dragon fries. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered 2 different sauces, and didn't even need it. Barely used any. Could have used another syrup, but made it work. That cinnamon butter... My wife ordered the 3 piece, mild, and fries with slaw... she ended up eatting most of my wonderful waffle. Portions are generous.. we're taking a box home with us. Definitely we'll be back!
Good, casual chicken sandwich/tenders place. Have mostly stuck with their chicken sandwiches - mostly because the chicken is crispy, well-cooked and heat preference can be adjusted. Buns, pickles and slaw that comes on it are also good. They're Mac n cheese as a side is very creamy and delicious! Value for the meal is good, though I think I will try their lunch special out - feels like at a place like Dave's Hot Chicken or Raising Canes, I get a bigger quantity of the side. And those include their sauce. In comparison, at Cookshack you have to order it as an additional add-on. That being said: it's a good sauce that is very good with their chicken.
Very rustic, cozy, and nice ambiance. The service was quick and good. Very helpful explaining the menu options. The food was just ok and the fries were really salty. Ordered the hog heaven and it was just ok. Somewhat on the warm to cool side temperature wise. The chicken strip on the bun was ok. Nothing fancy or special about it. I don't think I would make a special trip to come back again unless maybe in the area. Ordered the butterscotch ice cream sandwich which was sweet. Maybe it was just an off day for me.
I believe the quality of their food has decreased. My original review was around the time they opened this location. The last couple of visits have become more and more disappointing. We have not been back in a few months after my last meal there. I have only ever ordered the chicken and waffles there. The last time we went the chicken was very rubbery and did not taste right. I have not returned since that day. While this could have been an isolated incident, it left me not wanting to return especially because we have plenty other food options in the area. The staff is very nice and helpful when ordering your food. The space is large with many tables nothing special to it.
Cookshack is a cool spot to get some good chicken. The service was great and overall a cool spot to grab a beer and chicken. Also had the chance to try the ribs and they were average, a little dry for my liking. But overall a good spot and try at least once. The sides we ordered were kale salad and macaroni and those were definitely delicious.
So I overslept on the original restaurant that I was planning to go to. I drove to the Cook shack which was 4 minutes from my hotel and open until 10:00 on weekdays. I ordered Chicken (mild) and Waffles with French fries and sweet heat dipping sauce. The chicken was well cooked and crispy. The French fries weren't anything special. The waffles were fluffy and tasty. The waffles have a butter that puts you in the mindset of Texas Roadhouse that make them very tasty. The location has many televisions set to sports giving you a sports bar feel. I ordered my food, went and sat down and it was brought out to the table within 10 minutes. Overall would recommend or come to eat again on lunch. Waffle 4/5 Chicken 5/5 Fries 3/5 Margarita 4/5
Couldn't pass up the chance to stop by here after an hour or so at Baybrook. And just between me and the two or three people who read my stuff, I had procrastinated a few times before. The flagship food of this eatery is chicken strips. I know what you're thinking. "Chicken strips? I can get those at my kid's ballgame!" Yes, but I doubt those chicken strips are big as your forearm like The Cookshack's. Having ordered five at medium heat, I was about full when I took on my second piece. The amount of spices blended in the poultry was enough for a kick, but not to where I chugged multiple drinks. Fries were aplenty and just as good. They also have ribs here thus making a second visit here likely.
Great find. Be prepared to enjoy your meal. I ordered the Sleezy Chicken - a bowl of layered Mac and cheese chicken tenders and coke slaw. It was oh so good. I tried the hot heat and it was hot but the Mac and cheese and the coke slaw cooled down my mouth. My dad ordered the 3 tenders with sweet potato fries and he said things are definitely bigger in Texas. The tenders combines were larger than a breast and the sweet potato fries were oh so yummy. We are so satisfied. Room for improvement- the lemonade was water minus the lemon and unfortunately my Mac and cheese was cold but I still enjoyed the dish. McKinley was amazing. She is a keeper and understands customer service.

The Cookshack is a great lunch spot. There is a little bit for everyone and you can brunch it up, spice it up, or healthy it up! So, it's all thumbs up! The waffles and chicken was so good...the kale salad also made me feel healthy after a morning workout. I was able to split the spice level on the tenders and the heat was manageable on the Hot Chicken. The cinnamon butter on the waffles brought the house down with comfort. The service was also very nice. The ordering process was easy and the staff was able to explain the menu when we had questions. I did receive a small percentage off my order for military discount, I forget what it was exactly, but the friendliness and ambiance made it extra worth choose Cookshack for lunch! read more

Good spot! I feel it's more of a chicken spot than a BBQ spot but could go either way. I went here for an early dinner and definitely enjoyed my meal and beverage. The staff was friendly and helpful while ordering. They were happy to answer questions. The food came out quick after ordering but it was also not very busy at this time. The frozen margaritas were thick and tasty! The chicken sandwich was a solid one but not exceptional. The fries were seasoned well and crispy. The ribs slid off the bone and the chicken tenders were juicy and crisp. The macaroni was cheesy and not too liquidy as some places have. Seating was easy and comfortable! With plenty of spots to choose from and space for a larger party if needed. It was clean and tidy throughout the restaurant and drink station. Overall a good experience, solid food, friendly staff, and easy parking. Wouldn't say no to visiting again in the future! read more

Decided I was craving a spicy fried chicken sandwich and came here. Menu is relativity small which is a good thing so you're not overwhelmed with options. This is one of those places where you go to the cashier to take your order, they hand you a number, and then sit wherever you want and they'll bring you your food. The cashier recommended the chicken sandwich and the ribs so we decided to order a chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese, ribs, chicken tenders, and scorpion fries. They have a spice scale 1-10 and for the chicken sandwich we got texas hot which is a 9 from my understanding, the chicken tenders and ribs we got a medium which Is supposedly like a 5 and the scorpion fries doesn't even look like there's any seasoning in it, but it's supposed to be spicy. So is the texas hot really that hot? YES!!! Me and my fiancé could eat it, but it definitely wasn't enjoyable and that was our bad, not the chefs fault. Crunch and everything was solid though in my opinion. Mac and cheese was alright, nothing to write home about. I did enjoy the chicken tenders. They were nice and crunchy, not too spicy, and not dry. The ribs however were pretty disappointing and I would not recommend. Very bland and very dry. Fries were solid and very spicy even though you couldn't see any seasoning and when the food came out it was hot and fresh for sure. Price wise I do think it's kinda expensive and would only come if friends wanted to go here, but it wasn't a bad place at all. If I come back definitely ordered a medium spicy chicken sandwich. read more
Tried this place today. We had the chicken and waffles, sleepy chicken and the chicken sandwich. Here's our thoughts... Chicken and waffles were tasty. The chicken tenders, even without any spice, was nicely seasoned. Sweet potato waffles fries were crunchy and well seasoned as well. The sleezy chicken was good. The Mac and cheese was Rich and tasted of real and not processed cheese. The chicken sandwich I got was Texas Heat level. That is very spicy. It was enough to make me start to sweat. I think the hottest level might be too much, at least for me. It was tasty though. The dragon fries were also nicely spicy. After eating the sandwich though, they didn't seem hot at all. Lol Overall, this place offers good crunchy and moist chicken tenders and a wide variety of seasoning options. read more

First time trying and it did not disappoint. I took my order to go the place was very nice and clean. Everyone was super friendly I like the little bar in the front. I got a strawberry margarita and let me tell you it was strong but it's good and worth the price. I love that the food is delicious and not over the top it's simply. I will definitely be back and I will be eating in for sure! read more

My Aunt introduced me to the Cookshack. My aunt had Chicken and Waffles & I had the Sleazy Chicken. Her chicken & waffles started out right, with cinnamon butter. Then the chicken was juicy & medium spiced just right. The Dragon Fries were amazing! I love fries & these were !! I had the Sleazy Chicken. It was a bowl with Mac & cheese, coleslaw, chicken tenders in medium spice & shack sauce. I like spicy, so I could had gone one more up to hot. Some dragon fries were donated to my bowl, to up the spicy & fries-love-ometer. I rounded out my meal, with an adult beverage, The Boujee. It was a swirl margarita (frozen margarita w/ sangria topped with champagne) it was so delicious. Decor & ambiance was laid back chill mode. Service was excellent. Order at register & they bring it to your table. read more

We stopped to get dinner to go, this was our first time eating at the Cookshack and we were not disappointed! Our waitress was great and the inside of the restaurant was very clean! This was my first time here. My husband, a friend, and I were greeted by a friendly bartender/server when we walked in, and she explained the menu to us and took our order. I ordered the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, and my husband got the half rack of ribs and chicken tenders. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and when I got to our table, my food had already arrived. That was quick! The portions are fine--not huge like some of the other posters have noted--and the food is good. The chicken sandwich was well-seasoned and the coleslaw, pickles, and sauce all worked well together. The sweet potato fries were fresh and crispy. My husband said his ribs and tenders were nothing special; reminded him of Raising Cane's. I did notice that there was a piece of bread under his tenders and wondered why it wasn't Texas toast? Pros: clean, well-staffed, friendly, casual place. Menu was easy to navigate. I liked that you could get your own drinks and refills and that servers continued to circulate even after bringing you your food. Bathroom was clean. Cons: food is fine, even good, but not amazing. How good can a chicken sandwich really be? I dunno...just didn't seem like I was eating $50 worth of food in terms of portions and/or quality. Definitely would not object to coming here again if our friends wanted to--probably won't come on our own accord, though. read more

I decided to go to this restaurant based on its proximity to my hotel and the other reviews singing it's praises, and for the most part I concur! The service was very fast. I came in, ordered, immediately received my frozen margarita (the swirl, which is amazing, have to recommend) and received my food less than 5 minutes later. I ordered the chicken and waffles with the dragon fries, based on other reviews. The waffle was very tasty, if a little underdone. The cinnamon butter is delectable and my main recommendation is to use the syrup as you're eating your bites - if you pour it at the beginning it gets lost by the end. I went with the medium spice and it was so well seasoned and tasty and the chicken was juicy with jus the right amount of spice. I used blue cheese for my fries and some bites of chicken based on personal preference, but overall I would recommend it to anyone in the area! Good hot chicken tenders with fast service and tasty margaritas. read more

If you love fried chicken, then you'll love The Cookshack!!! Their chicken and waffles are amazing and full of flavor in every bite! The chicken sandwich is tasty and the coleslaw makes it even better! The service was amazing! The ambiance is great to meet with friends or a date night! 10/10 recommend coming here! read more

After a long day of tennis practice, I was really craving a crispy chicken sandwich, and this totally hit the spot. We walked in and it wasn't very busy. The staff are so friendly and nice! Our food came out quickly, and it was so delicious! My mom and I both got the chicken sandwich (hers mild, mine medium) with ranch and blue cheese sauce on the side. I ordered mine with a side of mac n cheese, and she got it with a side of sweet potato fries. The chicken sandwich was super flavorful, crispy, crunchy, and moist. Personally, I think I could've gone up a spice level because there was no spice for me. The sweet potato fries were seasoned and super crispy, but the mac n cheese was nothing impressive. I'm getting hungry writing this review! read more

Everything abt this meal was great. Got the chicken n waffles @Texas hot and the heat was superb. It was flavorful throughout. It was a lot of food & me n hubby could have split an entree. Also got a side of dragon fries & while spicy, it wasn't too hot, nice lil kick & garlicky. read more
Came here on a whim with coworkers for lunch. I have seen the restaurant before but never actually knew anything about it. What I got from it is that it's primarily a hot chicken restaurant but they also served ribs. There was plenty of seating and not too busy (we went around 12:30PM on a Wednesday afternoon). There was about 8 of us so we were able to pull up extra chairs to accommodate our party. You order your food at the front and they will bring it out to you. I wasn't really in the mood for hot chicken so I ordered the quarter ribs with a side of Mac and cheese. I didn't know what to expect but it was really good. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone and the Mac and cheese was very well seasoned. My only complain was the serving size. My meal definitely looked like a kids meal and I paid $13 where one of my other co-workers had a full tray of food and we spent about the same amount. Other than that I would recommend giving them a try. read more

I've driven by The Cookshack so many times and decided that today would be a good day for some chicken and waffles. I walked in and was greeted immediately. I told the young lady at the register that it was my first time ordering. She explained the menu and options. I definitely knew that I wanted chicken and waffles. As for the spice level, I know this is a hot chicken place, but I don't love spicy food so I opted for mild. They have an option called "not hot" which apparently doesn't have any seasoning on it. Mild on the other hand was seasoned, but not spicy which was perfect. For the side, it comes with mac and cheese. Mac and cheese with waffles just doesn't sound that good to me and the meal is already carb heavy with the waffles so I opted for a side salad with champagne vinaigrette. For the dipping sauce, I got the Cookshack sauce which the lady said was similar to the sauce at Raising Cane's. I love BBQ sauce, but I like to try the "house" sauce whenever I try a new place. I paid and was given a number to wait. It only took about 5 minutes or so and my order was ready. The guy that brought out my food asked if I needed any other sauce but I said the Cookshack sauce would be fine. He said it was his favorite sauce, but he did say I needed to try the mac and cheese next time lol. OK, noted. l didn't realize that the waffle and chicken were in separate containers, but I appreciated that. The waffle is huge, very fluffy and delicious. The maple butter and maple syrup were really good. There was a light amount of powdered sugar on the waffle which I feel they could have added more (what can I say, I have a sweet tooth). The chicken tenders are huge! The flavor was pretty good, but honestly could have used a bit more seasoning. At first, I didn't really know what to make of the Cookshack sauce, but as I ate more, it grew on me. It definitely added a nice flavor to the chicken. It also comes with a piece of toast, but I didn't have any because it's just a lot of food. The side salad is a side salad. Not much to say about that lol. The champagne vinaigrette has a bit of tartness to it, but it's not bad. I have enough chicken left over to eat with my salad for dinner later on this evening. The food is decent and the service was great. It's not the best chicken I've ever had in my life, but it's pretty good. read more

Service is always on point. The chicken always comes out juicy and flavorful. Plenty of sauces to pick from. The best hot chicken sandwich I've had! I got medium for the heat level and it was perfect. I didn't get the shack sauce but had all the other ingredients: cole slaw and pickles. Everything about this sandwich is delicious. The bread they use is so good!! For the side I got sweet potato fries and they were crispy but a little salty for my taste. Still good though. They are waffle-style. The price is well worth it for how much you get. It's actually cheaper than most other restaurants I've been to. The staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant has ample seating and is clean. This place will definitely be in my rotation! read more

Chicken Chicken Chicken , it was moist and hot the tenders are huge. The Texas Heat is a hell raiser so be prepared. The waffle was soft yet crispy with a tasty cinnamon butter. My side salad was fresh and crispy with vinegary dressing. Ribs were seasoned well and tender the meat fell off the bone . Kale salad was delicious but next time hold the peanuts. Nice place to meet for lunch or dinner. read more
