Angry Mac--two cut-up chicken tenders over fries with mac 'n' cheese and special sauce.

I stopped by the new Angry Chickz in Webster, which is off of Egret Bay Blvd in the Marinagate Shopping Center. If you're not familiar then it is the strip plaza adjacent to Scout Bar, and across the street from Ichiban. Upon entering Angry Chickz, I was heartily greeted by a large female staff of (I guess we'll call them angry chicks), though actually they were very pleasant. The music volume was loud so I'm going to ding them on that. Restaurants usually do that to encourage diners to eat and run, especially when there is limited seating. The layout kind of reminds me of Urban Bird except a smaller format and an even smaller menu. At first glance, there seemed to be only four combos available: (#1) two hot chicken sliders; (#2) two hot chicken tenders, each on a piece of white bread; (#3) a slider and a tender on white bread. The last one is the weirdest, and least appetizing: (#4) two hot chicken tenders over a bed of buttery rice topped with slaw and secret sauce. I mean rice does go with a lot of things, but slaw ... really? Additionally they offer mixed bowls, so I decided to go with the Angry Mac (medium heat level), which is two chicken tenders cut up over a bed of fries and then smothered in mac & cheese and special sauce. Food temperature and texture were spot on, but the taste was nothing special. The spice level of the chicken and fries was a perfect medium, but nothing to write home about. I've had more decadent mac n cheese from Chic fil A. With a drink the total was just over $17 so not the best bang for your buck. Since there are a lot of new places in this strip center, you kind of have to fight for parking, and not having a drive through is not good business in this economy. By all means, give Angry Chickz a try--you could tell your buddies you ate an angry chick. However, if you want more menu options and better ambiance then my advice is to go to Urban Bird or Cook Shack.

I love their Angry Mac. Got it with medium spice. Their Mac and cheese was really creamy. Service was awesome. Definitely recommend to my friends!

The potato salad was a huge surprise, I'm usually not a potato salad person, but this one was a solid 10/10. The only thing I wouldn't recommend was this French-style side (it looked like a giant turd ). It was a 0/10 for me. I took one bite and couldn't eat the rest. The peach cobbler was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really wow me compared to everything else. Overall, the food was incredible, especially the brisket. I'll definitely be coming back. 10/10, highly recommend!

Definitely my favorite of their meats), jalapeño cheddar sausage (super juicy), coleslaw, bacon Mac n cheese (creamy and goood), and the meats came with pickled jalapeño, onions, and pickles. We also got the beef ribs, which were good but a bit salty, and a mix of the lean and fatty brisket -I definitely preferred the lean cut since it was already super juicy. The potato salad was hearty and good. Slicing the brisket! The workers were all so friendly!

We tried the turkey, brisket, and jalapeño sausage, and every one of them was delicious. The brisket was especially impressive--moist, incredibly tender, and so soft you didn't even need a knife to cut it. The sides were very good, but the meats were definitely the highlight of the meal. One thing we really appreciated was the toppings bar, which included pickles, onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, and two different barbecue sauces so you could customize each bite. They even had a mini soft-serve ice cream machine for a little dessert after your meal, which was a nice touch. They also offer family meal options, making it a great choice for larger groups. That was frustrating, especially after spending $40 on a meal and an appetizer. Overall, the small portions, poor quality steak, incorrect order, and lack of immediate customer service made this one of the worst dining experiences I've had. We ain't in Queens anymore…read more For years, I've eaten on Shah's all around the borough, initially out in Ozone Park and Briarwood before finding a real audience in Sunnyside. Now that they've sufficiently blown up around NYC, I was a bit shocked (and excited) to see them finally come to H-Town. What's the verdict? It's good enough to pass muster for NY standards (#1), is open super late, and will likely be my go-to Halal food for the foreseeable future. Since I've only had it in cart form, I'm still a buggin over the fact it's become a franchise. It's similar to my shock of eating Halal Guys at a store for the first time. The digs feel as foreign (prices, large, clean and bright interior) as it does familiar (taste, logo, etc.). Even though I had a laugh seeing the wall photo-mural of a Shah's cart in Times Square, I did appreciate the nod to Ozone Park with the 121st & Liberty street signs. The chicken + lamb combo platter ($12) is and always will be the winner. The lamb had the same kind of seasoning that most Halal spots out here try to replicate but can never get right. The rice was fluffy, and the white sauce was easily the highlight. I can understand why they've decided to bottle it up and sell it as liquid gold. It makes every meal better. Kofta ($12) and chapli ($13) are rarely my favorites, but I knew I had both in platter form. The addition of adding chickpeas and these other salads is not something I'm used to from the carts (#2) but I loved the fact it was drowned in the white sauce with a dash of hot sauce. The latter is supposedly extremely hot, but I didn't find it that spicy. While I have to say the cheeseburger was a bit of a disappointment (overly bready, thin patty), the pakora chips and french fries were fabulous. They were perfectly seasoned, had a nice crisp, and frankly would be an excellent, gut-busting addition to any platter. I don't love the extra charge, but I hope they remain consistent with it. This store location in Westchase along Westheimer is an up and coming part of town. There are numerous Middle Eastern businesses in the adjacent area, along with an abundance of parking spots and a good amount of late night activity. Service was friendly but I do hope they keep their standards up. As time goes on, I'm 100% convinced this will be a destination for the many late night meal seekers and fans of NY nostaligia. __________ (#1) Which automatically supersedes a lot of the ones here in Houston. Just keeping it real. (#2) Is the chickpeas a Houston thing? Genuinely curious.

All the servers were prompt and helpful and our food came out quickly. The korma chop was heavenly like last time - so well-flavored and savory! The beef was definitely a good choice. This is a nicely sized spot next to the Jusgo plaza in Houston Chinatown, so plenty of parking and also food options. It's tucked in a corner but should not be written off. Its a pretty casual sitdown restaurant and we were welcomed and sat pretty quickly on a Saturday around 8:30PM. We were provided menus and started ordering everything that sounded good (within reason for 2, sorta). We ended up getting the Uyghur polo with lamb shank, Uyghur goshnaan, korma chop, garlic cucumbers, mint tea, and a yogurt for dessert. This was more than enough food for 2 but I wanted to try a bunch and this is me holding back. The Uyghur goshnaan was very crispy and the filling was flavorful and juicy, good lamb flavor and nice spices. The Uyghur polo with lamb shank was great and the pilaf had a nice sweetness with raisins that cut through some of the fatty richness of the lamb. The korma chop was also super flavorful with a nice savory sauce and noodled with an excellent texture, very QQ. I don't usually order cucumbers at Asian restaurants cause I can make a cucumber salad pretty easily at home but the one here was very good. Excellent refreshing crunch and garlic flavor to go with all the other dishes. The mint tea was also nice to wash down the mountains of food I was inhaling. I also enjoyed the yogurt, it's a thicker yogurt like a Greek yogurt and topped with honey and raisins. Again, a nice sweet/tart treat that didn't feel too heavy after everything else. I definitely need to come back as I didn't even get my big plate chicken but it'll be hard to choose between all the options. I def recommend this spot, esp if you like lamb as all the dishes we had were excellent and priced fairly for the portion and current economic situation.
