Chicken Tenders is still hot on the radar for food trends. Heard about Layne's when it was announced they were opening the Hou metro area. Location is on the heavily congested Fairmont corridor. Parking is decent and free. So I believe Layne's has a cult like following it's either you love it or you don't. Counter is at entrance and you order there. I went with the 3 tender combo with fries, gravy, and Texas toast. The food came out hot and fresh. The tenders were decent but not great. There was hardly any seasoning in the breading to make this tender stand out. The cream gravy helped. The restaurant is clean and the bathrooms were clean. There is alot of artwork around the building to give it some identity. The story behind the 6 clocks on the wall was cool. I've been here a handful of times now and every time it's been incredible! The spicy chicken strips are next level. The Laynes sauce has come out thick a few times and a little runny another time, but every time it was the bomb. The toast really stacks up well against Canes. I always thought no one would come close to Canes toast, well Laynes definitely does. The fries are also really good but the spicy strips are definitely the stand out. So far this location is the worst I've gone to . I ordered the Club Sandwich , it was burnt chicken tenders were hard there was no sauce on it and no cheese . Fries were old and hard as well . Service drive thru was quick ambiance inside im sure clam it was empty . But the food handling was terrible . Worst location for a new location management should really follow up . Horrible Customer Service, unprofessional staff ( mostly kids work there) long wait for an order, young men in the kitchen has his pants hanging down to his knees constantly pulling them up while preparing food. Laynes is one of the only restaurants with the dine in still open around the time i get off. Tonight i was absolutely starving, having a really bad night and genuinely already expecting the worst but Laynes absolutely came through. it was my first time here but i just expected it would be the same as canes and kind of is. i didn't catch the cashiers name who may be the manager but she was so sweet. As an Aggie with nostalgic memories of the OG Laynes, I always worry about being disappointed once a good place goes chain (lookin at you freebirds). But I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Had some pretty physical work going on at one of our new work training centers here in Pasadena so needed something quick and light near Home Depot for lunch. Several times and it hasn't disappointed. I'm a fan of the spicy tenders with gravy and a large y sweet iced tea. On a hot day the ice and that large drink is like gold long after lunch is over. In comparison to Canes, the food here isn't necessarily worse, but just different. Both the spicy and normal tenders are good, but the breading and juiciness is slightly worse than canes. The seasoning on each tender is definitely better than canes, though. Fries were better than canes, sauce was almost identical but Layne's sauce was slightly more pepperier. Lemonade here was better. Food took a little while to come out even though I only ordered 2 tenders, but this is a clean and calm establishment and the workers here are respectful. I would most likely pick canes over this, but I definitely recommend everyone to try Layne's at least once. read more

When I first heard about Laynes chicken fingers I was a bit confused but after looking more into it I was hyped to try it. And they definitely did deliver! There's some variety to the food here, it's nice and clean and a good layout for the restaurant. Service has always been fast and accurate. I've tried it more than a handful of times now and there does seem to be an issue with consistency in the food. One time I got bread and it was fine, the next I couldn't eat it because someone's hand slipped when salting it. The tenders are very small a lot of the time. One time the food was nice and crisp the next it was a little more greasy. Overall there's still improvement to be made for sure. In all honesty if the Canes line is too long then Laynes is great too. read more

Second, the food was delicious I thought it will be similar to Raisin canes but to me it has so much flavor. Third, the food was hot and fresh.
