We had friends visiting from out of town and gave them options for lunch and they picked Cookshack! Another 5-star Cookshack experience! It's always amazing to me that these restaurants are in strip plazas but on the inside, they never seem like it. The look is so cool. Rustic but modern. White subways tile, raw wood, black accents, Edison lights. Love it, All the staff were top notch! Order at the counter, take a seat and they'll bring your food to you! For food, our group went with: the chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles, 3 piece tenders and a salad. Everyone LOVED their meals. This was my third visit to a Cookshack and I've ONLY gotten chicken sandwich and it was once again, it was perfection. I got food Togo! Got the loaded fries with coleslaw and brisket, a kids nuggets with shack sauce and kale salad and we got a 3 piece tender with sweet heat sauce and gravy and sweet potato fries! We wanted to try a variety! Everyone was fresh and delicious!

I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and was finally able to while running errands the other day. I like it! The service was fast and friendly! I ordered tenders with mild heat and a side of macaroni. They arrived on a slice of bread with some sauce on it. I could have done without the sauce as it was very spicy! I also ordered a side of remoulade which had a kick but a really good flavor! It's like campfire sauce with a combination of ketchup and mayo together with seasoning. Super yummy! They have a few beers on tap but I don't think they have a full bar. The Mac and cheese was country style and very tasty! The tenders were cooked just right and tasted fresh! Next time though, I'll probably get "no heat" as the mild with the sauce was on the spicier side for me. We'll definitely be back to eat again soon!

Hot chicken is popping up everywhere! Walking in we were greeted by a worker behind the register. She was kind, polite, and helpful. As we asked questions about the menu, she was able to answer them all and give her input on items. I ordered 5 pieces of tender hot and 2 no spice with fries. Also came with a piece of toast and a dipping sauce, I choose their shack Sauce. The sauce was nothing that stood out so it was just there. The tenders were a good size and the heat level was a good spice. I was able to taste a piece of waffle from my brother in law and it was a good combo. The waffle was fluffy and not dense at all. I almost for to talk about the fries and that's probably because they tasted like regular ole fries nothing special versus other places. Over all good place with good workers.

OMG! Soooo happy we decided to try this joint! Greeted warmly upon walking in. Place is open, clean and even has padded chairs! I had to order the chicken and waffle... medium spice.. with the dragon fries. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered 2 different sauces, and didn't even need it. Barely used any. Could have used another syrup, but made it work. That cinnamon butter... My wife ordered the 3 piece, mild, and fries with slaw... she ended up eatting most of my wonderful waffle. Portions are generous.. we're taking a box home with us. Definitely we'll be back!

Mild Chicken Sandwich w/Side Mac & Cheese

Good, casual chicken sandwich/tenders place. Have mostly stuck with their chicken sandwiches - mostly because the chicken is crispy, well-cooked and heat preference can be adjusted. Buns, pickles and slaw that comes on it are also good. They're Mac n cheese as a side is very creamy and delicious! Value for the meal is good, though I think I will try their lunch special out - feels like at a place like Dave's Hot Chicken or Raising Canes, I get a bigger quantity of the side. And those include their sauce. In comparison, at Cookshack you have to order it as an additional add-on. That being said: it's a good sauce that is very good with their chicken.

Good spot! I feel it's more of a chicken spot than a BBQ spot but could go either way. I went here for an early dinner and definitely enjoyed my meal and beverage. The staff was friendly and helpful while ordering. They were happy to answer questions. The food came out quick after ordering but it was also not very busy at this time. The frozen margaritas were thick and tasty! The chicken sandwich was a solid one but not exceptional. The fries were seasoned well and crispy. The ribs slid off the bone and the chicken tenders were juicy and crisp. The macaroni was cheesy and not too liquidy as some places have. Seating was easy and comfortable! With plenty of spots to choose from and space for a larger party if needed. It was clean and tidy throughout the restaurant and drink station. Overall a good experience, solid food, friendly staff, and easy parking. Wouldn't say no to visiting again in the future!

Very rustic, cozy, and nice ambiance. The service was quick and good. Very helpful explaining the menu options. The food was just ok and the fries were really salty. Ordered the hog heaven and it was just ok. Somewhat on the warm to cool side temperature wise. The chicken strip on the bun was ok. Nothing fancy or special about it. I don't think I would make a special trip to come back again unless maybe in the area. Ordered the butterscotch ice cream sandwich which was sweet. Maybe it was just an off day for me.

I believe the quality of their food has decreased. My original review was around the time they opened this location. The last couple of visits have become more and more disappointing. We have not been back in a few months after my last meal there. I have only ever ordered the chicken and waffles there. The last time we went the chicken was very rubbery and did not taste right. I have not returned since that day. While this could have been an isolated incident, it left me not wanting to return especially because we have plenty other food options in the area. The staff is very nice and helpful when ordering your food. The space is large with many tables nothing special to it.

Cookshack is a cool spot to get some good chicken. The service was great and overall a cool spot to grab a beer and chicken. Also had the chance to try the ribs and they were average, a little dry for my liking. But overall a good spot and try at least once. The sides we ordered were kale salad and macaroni and those were definitely delicious.

So I overslept on the original restaurant that I was planning to go to. I drove to the Cook shack which was 4 minutes from my hotel and open until 10:00 on weekdays. I ordered Chicken (mild) and Waffles with French fries and sweet heat dipping sauce. The chicken was well cooked and crispy. The French fries weren't anything special. The waffles were fluffy and tasty. The waffles have a butter that puts you in the mindset of Texas Roadhouse that make them very tasty. The location has many televisions set to sports giving you a sports bar feel. I ordered my food, went and sat down and it was brought out to the table within 10 minutes. Overall would recommend or come to eat again on lunch. Waffle 4/5 Chicken 5/5 Fries 3/5 Margarita 4/5

Great find. Be prepared to enjoy your meal. I ordered the Sleezy Chicken - a bowl of layered Mac and cheese chicken tenders and coke slaw. It was oh so good. I tried the hot heat and it was hot but the Mac and cheese and the coke slaw cooled down my mouth. My dad ordered the 3 tenders with sweet potato fries and he said things are definitely bigger in Texas. The tenders combines were larger than a breast and the sweet potato fries were oh so yummy. We are so satisfied. Room for improvement- the lemonade was water minus the lemon and unfortunately my Mac and cheese was cold but I still enjoyed the dish. McKinley was amazing. She is a keeper and understands customer service.

Couldn't pass up the chance to stop by here after an hour or so at Baybrook. And just between me and the two or three people who read my stuff, I had procrastinated a few times before. The flagship food of this eatery is chicken strips. I know what you're thinking. "Chicken strips? I can get those at my kid's ballgame!" Yes, but I doubt those chicken strips are big as your forearm like The Cookshack's. Having ordered five at medium heat, I was about full when I took on my second piece. The amount of spices blended in the poultry was enough for a kick, but not to where I chugged multiple drinks. Fries were aplenty and just as good. They also have ribs here thus making a second visit here likely.

Our son took my wife and I and our grandsons out to lunch today. For my wife and I it was our very first visit. What a first impression!!! The young man behind the counter, Isaac, was most pleasant and informative. He knew the menu inside out and asked us about our preferences, etc. By the time it came to paying we were quite impressed with this young gentleman and his professional demeanor, so much so that I asked him just how long had he been CEO of Cook Shack! That was his pride in his work showing. The food arrived quickly and we enjoyed it. Into our meal, Isaac stopped by to check on us, and I said to him: "You told us about everything on the menu, but you didn't tell us how GOOD the food was!" He replied: "I wanted you to find that out on your own!" That reply came with a warm smile. Cook Shack and Isaac were great parts of a very pleasant day. Thank you! read more

The BEST HOT CHICKEN I've had! They have the perfect hot chicken--it's fresh and they offer it as chicken tenders, chicken sandwich, as chicken and waffles, or as chicken tacos. You can even do just ribs or ribs and tenders. My husband and I have gone twice now and will continue to visit. We've had the sandwich, chicken and waffles, and tenders with ribs. For first time visitors I do recommend the sandwich to start and their shack sauce is delicious (kinda similar to Cane's). I recently tried the ribs which fell off the bone and were so juicy. They have a heat selection for your chicken and even ribs: not hot, hot, medium, Texas hot, and finally AMF **requires a waiver to be signed**. I go with the medium as it's a heat that builds up. I've tried the Texas hot which is a solid heat (I equivalate it to Jinyas inferno hot) but does linger. My husband tried the AMF which can be deceiving--doesn't feel hot until you take another bite and then you're reaching for your drink. The ambience is what you'd imagine: country and sports bar feel with TVs around with sports on. They do offer beer, margaritas, and wine which were also really good. For those who eat at the restaurant, the service is FABULOUS. They come by and see if you anything and help keep the tables cleaned up. The staff is so friendly!! It also helps that they play good music too (variety of pop, hip hop). If you're wondering if you should try it than this review is your sign to check it out! read more

My sister n law said to try this place out so that's exactly what I did. My boyfriend and I have been to "hot chicken" restaurants but never specifically here. You choose your chicken option, then a spiciness level. I ordered a tx hot chicken sandwich w/ Mac & he ordered chicken & waffles in medium w/ dragon fries. The food came out pretty quickly! Let me just say the portions are quite big in my opinion, I left extremely satisfied and FULL. My sandwich was delicious and spicy. I wasn't a fan of the Mac but that doesn't mean others won't love it....next time I'll order myself the dragon fries. You order your food as you walk in at the counter and they'll bring your food out to the table. The place is cute inside with great service. I can't wait to come back here!!!!!!! read more

First time being here and it was amazing. The food is so good. The medium spice chicken sandwich is the safest bet if you like a bit of spicy, as it has the perfect blend of tastefulness and spice. From the moment we got there the customer service was so good and friendly. They helped me decide what I wanted and the manager was great and it felt like they were always checking up on me to make sure everything was good or if I needed anything. I've been back 2 more times after and it has been the same experience. Side note- The AMF spice level is extremely spicy especially if you are not conditioned to spicy food. There is a waiver you sign when you order it because of how spicy it is. I tried it and it singed my taste buds lol ;) read more

The chicken strips were huuuge and tasted amazing. The Cookshack sauce is one of the better Cane's sauce dupes (it is a little sweeter to me). We got regular fries but I saw other people's sweet potato fries, and they looked AMAZING! We will definitely be coming back here. Also, one of the employees gave us samples of ice cream sandwiches that were pretty good! I would say that Cane's sauce is better, but overall I would choose Cookshack over Cane's because the chicken is far better, the atmosphere is fun, and there are more food and sauce options than you can get at Canes. I definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

After seeing all the posts on a local foodie page, we had to check this spot out for ourselves. I had the Heights location on my radar for some time, but this location is way more convenient. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Now on to the food. I went with the 3 piece tender meal and got it all with Texas Heat. I also got an extra side of cole slaw to go along with the Dragon Fries to combat the heat if needed. For my sauces I got ranch and sweet heat. They only give one sauce and charge for additional ones. The sauces are small so you end up getting up charged a bit if you're a Big Dipper. This meal was heat on top of heat on top of heat! I can handle pretty spicy food, but these tenders quickly put me in my place. I was sweating from pores I didn't even know I had. That being said, the food was delicious but I would definitely take it down a notch or two next time. I did try the regular tenders and they were very tasty. It's a tad bit overpriced for tenders, but it's quality food. I'll definitely be back! read more

Holy chicken Batman! This place is amazing! Thankfully my wife found this on her face book suggestions. The fooood is amazingly good. I ordered the chicken sandwich (Texas hot) and fries, wife had chicken tacos (medium) and my 3 year old had the kids chicken bites (that she thankfully didn't feel like eating which meant I got to enjoy some). It's rare I focus solely on the food first but man oh man every meal was amazingly good. I had no idea how great chicken with awesome batter could taste like. I'm definitely coming back...pretty soon I'm sure. The restaurant itself is nice, clean, new, cool atmosphere. Highly recommended. read more

Right on the money. And I mean the price, the food, the speed, and the friendly service. I came in and got a bitchen chicken sandwich (Texas Hot) and it was a great spice level. I am very into heat and this was a good lunch level of spice for me, I will bring back the boys and do an AMF spicy challenge. The sweet potato fries were great and crunchy. I hate soggy sweet potato fries and these were top notch. Also, the slaw on the sandwich was very good. Nice to have good tea and lemonade on a constant flow too. This is a return spot for lunch. 100% Very much recommend read more

On paper I should love everything about this place, but they just fail to execute. The chicken is just not really very flavorful. That means that if you get the hotter options, all you get is blind heat without any real depth of flavor, and if you get one of the milder options, you just get rather bland chicken. The chicken has not ever been particularly juicy either. Their fries are just alright too, being good enough to eat but not tasty enough for you to crave them. Rather pricy too. It's a shame that Clear Lake has been pretty hit-or-miss when it comes to most hot chicken offerings. read more

You order first and they will bring the food to you. I ordered the chicken waffle with dragon fries. They give you so much of the sides that I was pretty contempt with my meal. The chicken was very piping hot and crispy while the waffle was soft on the inside and crunchy texture outside. I will be coming back to try their other dishes. read more

Me and my bf went out to eat at this place for the first time and we had the chicken and waffles and chicken sandwich and 2 sides. The sides that I had got were Mac and cheese and he got sweet potato fries. The fries in this photo of his chicken and waffles were SPICY. How are sweet potato fries spicy? He ended up not finishing his food and I felt pretty bad. :( Although the quality was great but idk if I'll come back. read more

I found myself asking what sets this chicken sandwich apart from the chicken sandwich trend and competition. Two things, how spicy you can make the chicken and the fries. Overall, the Cookshack was good service, clean, and the food was good. They are clearly geared for chicken tenders and ribs. My boyfriend got the Texas Heat tenders and was not disappointed. Staff was on it and very attentive. No complaints there. They did turn up the ambient music while we were there to a level that made talking, just across the table, difficult, but it was early in the dinner service and we figured the younger staff were trying to get amped for the incoming crowd. My biggest complaint was the grilled chicken salad. For a chicken place, I thought they would have big chunks of tender grilled chicken. I mean, it is their signature menu item. But this salad had sliced *deli meat* chicken. It was incredibly disappointing, especially since the other flavors (dates, goat cheese, and almonds) were great together. The salad comes with a champagne vinaigrette, but I subbed for ranch dressing (I am from rural Texas lol). Their ranch dressing was super runny and didn't stick to the lettuce at all. Ended up being a pool of dressing at the bottom of the bowl. Honestly, Jason's Deli has bigger, better chicken for their salads, which shouldn't be the case. Overall, they were good at what they should be, just plain tenders, but bombed at just a basic salad. read more

Amazing!!! Try this place people!!! If you are gluten free the ribs and fries are amazing!!! Fries have a dedicated fryer and the manager Stephen helped me with options on the menu and knew well what was gluten free and what wasn't. I had a good selection of things to order. Maybe next time I'll get a salad...and dragon fries! Lol. So glad to have an awesome new option of places to go for a great meal while making my husband happy to enjoy hit chicken and waffles! ( not a gluten free option on that yet!) read more

First time visit. To Go order. I used Yelp to locate a BBQ restaurant and found Cookshack... decided to try due to high reviews. It appears their forte is chicken rather than BBQ. The ribs looked good but we're disappointing in taste. My gut tells me they come frozen/cooked and Cookshack simply heats them. Going with a 3 stars due to service and the attitude of the employees. Will try their chicken next time. No more BBQ. read more

Heard about this place through a coworker. It's located 160 West Bay Boulevard in Webster Texas. We went Sunday June 30,2024 around 3:30pm. It was not busy probably because it was after lunch rush and before dinner. The employees kinda looked bored but friendly. You place your order at the counter ( reminds of just another fast food joint) but it's brought to your table. I ordered the 15 piece "shack bites ". They offer several levels of heat; not hot, mild, medium, Texas hot and AMF (adios my friend). Ok I like a challenge so I ordered the AMF. The counter person taking my order said that I had to sign a waiver. ( A waiver really!?!, whatever! ) So I signed. I chose fries for my side and ranch for the dipping sauce. My bites were served hot (temperature) and fresh. The fries however were not , barely warm, but tasty. So if you are a chili head and like spicy stuff it maybe worth a try. Now if jalapeños are remotely spicy to you, then I recommend not even trying. Drinks are self serve. I didn't order anything from the bar. Ambiance. So the place is a cross between a fast food joint and part sit down restaurant. Sure there's several tvs ( all on sports, what a surprise [ sarcasm emphasized ]) Country music on the speakers. Just an observation. The tables are rough cut planks with an epoxy coating. To me it makes it seem sticky. As mentioned earlier the soft drinks are self serve with not many choices from the fountain heads. So overall I personally don't think it's a place that I would go out of my way to visit again. You can go to Popeyes and get the same " bites" basically. This is only my opinion. read more

The service was great. Everyone was attentive and helpful and the food arrived quickly. The food is good, but not spectacular. The chicken sandwich turned into a soggy mess after a couple of bites and the slaw was a bit sweeter than was needed. The only real knock is the value. There are places that have food that is just as good for a fair but less and the ambiance doesn't justify the extra cost. The area around the soda machines was sticky and some were just carbonated water. read more

It was my wife's and my first time to visit the Cookshack, and we had a very nice meal and enjoyed top notch service. At the register counter we were greeted by friendly staff who explained the heat levels and spices involved. I was excited to try an AMF chicken tender (spiced with Carolina Reapers and Habanero) along with Texas Hot (Habanero), and ordered the spicy Dragon Fries on the side. I can see why they have a waiver for the AMF heat level, as it is quite intense and legit, legitimately well-flavored with astounding heat! The 'Texas Hot' were very hot and well balanced heat and flavor. I will get both next time, as well. My wife ordered the grilled shredded chicken kale viniagrette salad which is EXCELLENT. The team member who rangvus up, a female whose name I failed to note, came by our table and asked how everything was. I said while it's all very good, perhaps the Dragon Fries could use more Dragon seasoning to which she offered and promptly delivered a small cup of additional 'Dragon' spices which I sprinkled atop the perfectly crisped fries. The heat level on the fries was thereby more befitting the name, and I sincerely thanked her. The restaurant manager, Mr. Jonathan Ramirez, also came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. He took the time to tell us about the company origins, orher locations, and the many wonderful menu offerings. Upon hearing I had consumed one of the AMF tenders, Mr. Ramirez was so kind as to suggest we try a sample of the Cookshack's Butterscotch Oatmeal ice cream sandwiches, which we found to be absolutely next level delicious; it also extinguished the 5-alarm AMF fire in my mouth! A wonderful restaurant manager with a team of friendly, motivated company representatives, Mr Ramirez and his team show customer service and satisfaction is a sincere core value at Cookshack. We will be back, again and again. We are so happy you are now a local attraction to Webster, TX. read more

The staff here is always so upbeat and friendly, and very welcoming to any and all who come through the front doors. If you're craving some GOOD fried chicken tenders, this place is the place to be at. I was craving chicken and waffles and this is a great spot for exactly that. When you order, you can select the different levels of spice for your chicken. I've only ever had it at the medium spice level. But even then, it's still not too terribly spicy. So next time I might increase the spice level. They also have different dipping sauces as well for your chicken. Their cookshack sauce is pretty yum and similar to Cane's special sauce. My boyfriend likes the traditional gravy with his tenders, which is also good. I also ordered the half rack of ribs; and they're very delicious. I'm super picky about my BBQ ribs, but these ribs were pretty top notch, especially for a mainly chicken place. You can also order beer and margaritas here too. The food comes out relatively quick and each time, I have never been disappointed. It is definitely my go-to spot if I'm ever craving chicken tenders or chicken and waffles. Very good food. When they say HOT they mean it. Not one of those places that over estimate the heat levels to placate the brave of palate used to other spots who say hot just to advertise. More food than we could eat at the table. Good snacks for later! Cold beer as well. read more

It's good but not tumble 22 good. The Washington location cook shack might have bigger chicken sandwiches (everything fresh) but tumble 22 gives you twice the burger size with double the fries. Both really good. I go to both. Definitely worth the shot. read more
