Been going to CB since the mid 2000's; used to be my favorite coffee shop for years, but it hasn't been for a while now. I still want to like them so badly, but every time I go, like every time, my drink just doesn't taste good. I keep going back in the hopes it will taste good again, and I try different drinks, but I've noticed consistently that they always taste Watery. Like, no matter what I order, it tastes Watery and bordering on flavorless. I wish their coffee itself actually tasted better. Like Peet's coffee for instance- their coffee actually tastes deep and strong, but the CB shots just taste flavorless. I'm not trying to hate, because I so wish this wasn't the case, and more than anything I am wondering what causes that ?? Anyways, the workers at this location are typically nice, the service is okay most of the time, and I appreciate how it quiets down at night and is a good place to chill in the later hours. I will also mention that I tried their iced tea in the hopes that it would be better than the watery coffee, but the iced tea was so strong that it was barely drinkable. I guess I just haven't found "the" drink that's worth coming back here for when there are so many other options for coffee nowadays. read more

I was in Simi Valley for an appointment and I was able to find a coffee bean and I was very satisfied. Overall, had a really good experience here. It nice inside and have many seats and tables to drink your coffee and hang out or do homework. They also have really good customer service!! The gentleman that helped me out was very amicable and when I put my number in for my points. He let me know all the offers I had, which was very nice of him. I ordered the honey oat latte iced with half powder and it was good, but I think they forgot to make it with half powder because it was a little bit more on the sweeter side, but it was still delicious. I have to love the interior of this place. It is so classy and they have a lot of great drinks and my favorite favorite favorite part is that they have absolutely beautiful dessert drinks, mango, strawberry, pure cookies, and cream, it is so nice to see that makes blending with coffee but what really did it for me was I had to have the jalapeño and cheese bagel heated up and a Doppio with with whipped cream, a.k.a. the dope O'Cain it was really comfortable to sit in. Everybody was totally cool. Laci and Sophia kept up a super friendly vibe. I don't think it's possible to have a bad experience when those two are working. I have to admit I will be coming back here to chill out on my break. They have outdoor seating in the very friendly and the bathrooms are super clean and do not require security lol this is a totally perfect place to chill and enjoy delicious pastries as well as some of the best dessert drinks I've had. read more

It's been a while since I have posted a review on my go to chain coffee shop. This is my go-to place for fancy teas and coffees....and an excellent place to go to in the summer for cool drinks. Today they had a tasting of ube and coconut- it was a very nice drink-refreshing and not overly sweet! What a treat! Today I venture out, with a new drink that had matcha, strawberry and more.....was yummy, although maybe it was a tad too sweet. Never less the drink served its purpose as it cooled me down on this very hot day! Today, I noticed that the store got new cups- check out my picture to see the new cup design. I am trying to figure out if I am getting more or less with the cup. Plus, they have a new stopper with a heart, how cute. As always, I appreciate the excellent customer service, even when the employees are busy. read more

I thought to give coffee bean another try since I used to love them. But I should've known better now that I just go to specialty coffee shops. The service was horrible! Ordered my drink. Just a simple iced americano. No cream no sugar, easy right? Well it's amazing when people that ordered after you with much more extravagant drinks end up receiving their drinks first. When I asked about my drink, they had not even started on it yet. I shouldn't have to ask about my drink for them to work on it. To top it all off they added so much water and barely any ice to my drink. I just know I will never be back to this place. read more

Went to this location for the first time and stood at the counter for 5 minutes waiting for someone to help me out. They saw me walk in and didn't offer any customer service or asked me if I was picking up an order. They need to train their workers better, instead of having them give that blank Gen Z stare and ignore their customers. The drinks didn't taste the same as they do in other locations, so I wasted my time and money trying out this spot. The staff were rude when I asked for a straw because they didn't have them out and available. Please teach these workers to do the bare minimum and be better. read more

We used to live close to a CBTL location and visited there fairly often. Then we moved, so that opportunity went away. We also used to visit the one in Thousand Oaks on Moorpark with the outdoor firepit, but that one is gone. I always recalled fondly the taste of the ice blended mocha cold drinks, so when we were in the area of this CBTL shop, I told Dear Hubby that was where I wanted to go after we had lunch nearby. The interior styling is familiar - the walls feature wooden shipping crate siding with stamped designs from exotic locales. Some of the global locations where the coffee beans or tea leaves hail from are featured in those designs. This particular store has minimal indoor seating; there are more tables outside. The cashier was very friendly and helpful, so that's a plus. They weren't too crowded on a Wednesday mid-afternoon, and my drink came out fairly quickly. The reason I won't give five stars for the visit is actually the drink itself. The ice blended mocha was too icy, or not blended quite enough. The ice chunks were large enough that they wouldn't feed up the straw very well. Even letting the whole drink sit for a while so the ice would start to melt didn't fully cure the situation. Not sure if the blender was getting ready to die / didn't have enough ice crushing power, or whether the barista didn't run it long enough? The taste was still there. They don't use coffee, so the powdered mixture dictates what you'll get for the flavor profile. There are limited options for decaf drinkers, but thankfully, chocolate is one of the choices. And it's a great flavor! read more

Order dry iced Americano and it did not taste that great and it was all ice and very little espresso.

I came here to get my To Good to Go order and when I got there during the pick up time, the bag wasn't prepared yet. After letting me know that she hadn't packed it yet, The server immediately got to preparing it. She finished packing it in less than five minutes and I was on my way. The bag was rather packed for what I had paid although there wasn't a ton of variety in it but she had warned me of that. I had gotten 5 of the egg bite packs and 5 or 6 everything bagels. It was a good deal. Overall, service was nice and friendly. The chairs were nice and comfortable and there was plenty of seating at 7:30 pm on a Saturday. read more

this is my favorite cbtl location to come to! i go to cbtl very often across many locations in Ventura/LA counties, and regularly come to this one. speaking on the last year, when i come in the evenings, the place is well maintained, the evening staff is always very warm and welcoming not just to me, but the many people i see them interact with, are receptive to my feedback, and overall make me feel comfortable being in this space. the tea lattes (ask for their tea menu card!) and ice blended drinks are very well done, even compared to other cbtl locations, and certainly compared to other non-cbtl cafés. i've come to this location since 2010 off and on, and have had the best experience here now compared to any other time in the past. i will always very highly recommend cbtl to friends over other chains, and recommend this place to anyone in the area or passing through. read more

What the hell is wrong with these girls that work at this location? The cashier did not say hello and just looked at my daughter and I. Zero personality. Then we go to get our drinks and one is hot as we asked for ice. I told the girl it was supposed to be iced and she proceeded to tell me it was rang up as hot. Ok no big deal, can you re-make it please? Barista was super annoyed she had to re-make it. She called out my name to tell me the drink was ready. I sometimes come here when I have a coupon on the app to use because coffee is so expensive these days, the past few times I went specifically to this location the workers are not friendly and they give more ice then they do the actual drink which is pretty unfair and cheap of them. Plus I notice whenever I say thank you to pick up my drink they just stare and not say a thing. Cute atmosphere! The matcha is fantastic, but I recommend mixing it before drinking! My first sips were super sweet, and then they became dull as I had a bunch of almond milk in the last half of the drink. Other than that, I highly suggest taking advantage of their app! The store had 6 or 7 customers in it, and every single person complained that either their drink or food orders were messed up, mine included. Before Starbucks was introduced before I moved to the bay and experienced other places such as blue bottle ,Phil's etc. The coffee bean is one of those places where you just know that you have virtualy unlimited choices of quality coffee and teas. This location was my first return to the coffee bean in over 7 years and I was pleased and satisfied without missing a beat. This is my favorite place to grab a cup of coffee and the only Coffee Bean around. In my opinion, they've always tasted better than Starbucks and the staff is very friendly and you won't spend an eternity there if you're in a rush. The only thing I would say they can improve upon is their pastry & bagel selection but it's no deal breaker by any means. I love the mocha ice blended and always try the seasonal items they have. Try the Mexican chocolate ice blended the next time they have it, its the best warm or cold. I wish there were more Coffee Bean & Tea Leafs around but I guess this will have to do for now. read more
