On UCR campus so super busy. The line moved a little slow but once you ordered everything moved quickly and we got our drinks and were on our way. Staff was super nice and helpful if you had any questions or needed a drink/food suggestion. Store had plenty of indoor seating and there are lots of nearby spaces to sit outdoors and around campus. Looked like most were studying or caffeinating up before heading to their next class. I loved the fact this location also does mobile orders, something I have not seen on other campuses before. This place is overall mediocre but I feel that it may be a chain problem, though I haven't been to other locations yet. - The jalapeno cheese croissant is pretty good, it's like other ones I've had. - The cinnamon roll was interesting, it wasn't very sweet or like other cinnamon rolls I've had, but it was pretty big and i enjoyed it. - The pumpkin spice latte was honestly a bit terrible, and im saying this as someone not usually picky. The coffee just tasted off, and sometimes I've had a mediocre PSL at Starbucks, but this was just very odd tasting and I am not sure where the pumpkin spice flavor was- it was very weirdly artificial tasting though PSL syrups already a bit artificial on its own. - The matcha strawberry cream latte was not bad the first time I tried it though it was a little mediocre if you enjoy matcha a lot- it was very very sweet and I only liked it because I enjoy super sweet drinks. The second time I had it, they barely gave any strawberry puree and it was like drinking milk. Service: The staff are super super nice and doing a great job with all the lines and crowds! Ambiance: Usually incredibly crowded but makes sense for a college campus. Not the cleanest at all times- but again, makes sense for the constant crowd coming in and out. The line was long af but that's expected because this is literally located on UCR's campus. I went here for a tour and my friends and I wanted a drink. The last time I went to a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was like 10 years ago wow. I didn't know so much had changed. I ordered a Large Vanilla Ice Blended Drink because I like Ice Blended stuff and I was sure I would like vanilla. When I first drank it, it was good, but I soon got tired of how sweet it was. I also forgot that this drink had coffee in it. And honestly, I hate coffee. The smell and the taste. So when I was only like 1/4 of the way done with the drink I was already over with it and wanted to throw it away. But I kept drinking it cuz I wanted something to suck on while I walked around wow. This place was packed af with people studying but like how can you even concentrate when it's loud asf too. Wow! If I liked coffee, I would like this drink better. But it's also too sweet for me. Usually Coffee Bean drinks are not my favorite but believe me when I say that the Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte changed my life. This drink is too good! I give it a solid 15/10! It is so good, I'd say it's better than the Matcha Soy drink at 7Leaves. Literally a MUST TRY. The Large size was $5.15. A matcha drink at Coffee Bean doesn't sound the least bit tempting, but trust me when I say you have to try it at least once. So creamy and delicious! The Iced Matcha Latte will be my go-to drink every time I'm at UCR now. The service here is great. The servers are friendly. Really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt having background and love for coffee shops but have had a horrible experience. I started my experience with a vanilla latte with oat milk, after the first time I had allergic reactions and threw it away but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and reordered the next time thinking I psyched myself. Nope, yet again I had an allergic reaction, this time i convinced myself to complain and asked if I ordered it wrong and was then explained by a nice dude at the bar that theres dairy in some of the types of vanilla. Ok, that makes sense but confused as to why it wasn't explained as most likely when people ask for dairy alternatives its because they don't want dairy in the drink. So he gladly exchanges it for a vanilla cold brew ensuring it doesn't have any dairy. I love the drink and get it a couple times. But in those times twice had I have to throw it out multiple times. Either due to it not being oatmilk, wrong vanilla(powder instead of syrup I assume), or recently when I ordered it again, I walked out of the shop and noticed a lot of milk around the top and sides but I had no napkins so naturally I just licked it and wiped it off. Seems to me it was whole milk that was spilled all over my cup cause I again had an allergic reaction. Just seems crazy to me because If my allergy was any worse I would have died 4 times doesn't seem much consideration for cross contamination or care of allergies. read more

This location is directly across from UCR's HUB and is mainly open during the academic quarter system. There are limited hours during summer sessions, with the exception of being opened on the weekend before finals. Every time I've ordered iced coffee here, it's always watered down and the coffee is weak in flavor. On the other hand, the hot drinks are fine here and so are the ice blended drinks (the Malibu Dream is my favorite and is basically a strawberry banana smoothie). I ordered a large cold brew and a lemon poppy seed muffin as well. I took a bite into the muffin first, since I was really starving, but it tasted a tad bit dry. I would recommend drinking your coffee first before biting into the muffin, because it actually seems to make your pastry more succulent and tasty that way. The aftertaste of drinking coffee first will usually have that effect on whatever you eat. Other then that, coffee and pastry is a pairing must if you've ever not enjoyed one or the other by itself. Overall, I loved my cold brew and pastry. They were really delicious! I also noticed how busy this location can get, and I totally understand from the employees standpoint..that you can't always float around and cleanup every single minute of the workday. So I appreciate that although the location can get a bit dirty, this cafe looks really clean, considering the high volume of students coming in. So regardless of the negative reviews that this location sees, I would hope that the staff keeps moving on forward. And one more detail I noticed! It's definitely not a location to study at if you need your peace and quiet (unless you got noise cancelling headphones, then good for you Glenn CoCo!). But most of the reviews I am seeing below are 3 stars or below because of it not being a good location to study at. What else would you expect at a university where thousands of students attend? There's bound to be a location where you can study in peace and silence. But if the location ever decides to close down for construction just so it can satisfy the needs to expand a little bit more, then more power to Coffee Bean! Having attended UCR as both an undergrad and graduate student since 2015, I can say that I've seen this shop at its best and worse. The new remodel, however, is above anything I've could've imagined. It's so spacious, welcoming, and I can tell the barista are happier with the new blenders, brew stations, and counters. *This location is located in the middle of campus (UCR)* You might not even care about the ratings of a chain restaurant because you'll tend to come here anyways. The drinks here are sub-par and they don't have any special selections other than their ice-blended drinks, which are much too frozen for me. If it's cold, I'll tend to get the hazelnut + white chocolate latte. For service, it's a bunch of college students who are trying to get by. The cashiers are always really friendly but everyone else seems too tired out of their minds. If you really need coffee and don't want to go to Ivan's or Bytes, then I suggest coming here. They're always looking to Improve their customer service and if the drink is not how you like it, they will remake it for you. I love coming here to grab a quick brewed coffee on the run. They are always on point with my coffee, but unfortunately today my coffee tasted sour. Of course we all make mistakes, and I understand if they mess up my drink because of the amount of orders they have. So I went up to the register, and asked them if I could get a remake nicely. The barista grabbed my drink without saying a word, and remade my drink while she was talking to her co-worker who was rolling her eyes. I felt upset because I come here almost everyday, and I never experienced anything like this before here. I worked at Starbucks before, and I have to say, every time one of my customers told me their drinks tasted off, I would gladly fix it for them. Bought a gift & a coffee the cashier didn't even bother to give me an envelope for my GC, proceeded to ask for a receipt, hmmmm well lemme guess, you have no receipt paper. Yup I was correct. Before 8 am this place is pretty empty, so grabbing a coffee is really quick and easy. The baristas aren't all that happy, but most students aren't before 8 am. I ordered the vanilla latte, hot. In my opinion, it's better than a starbucks vanilla latte. It's creamy and delicious, however, it isn't very strong. If you want a strong delicious coffee served by really happy and friendly servers then I would recommend Bytes. If you're rushing to class and you just need something to keep you awake so you can get through it then this place is perfectly acceptable. Plus it's great that they are open at 7 am, whereas Bytes doesn't open until 8 am. The location is right in the middle of campus, so that's nice too. read more

Terrible! Where do I start... I came in on a Monday afternoon, they had three people working. One seemed to be getting trained by a guy that seemed to not be paying attention to what the newbie is doing. I ordered a small Iced blended hazelnut with coconut milk and chocolate beans. When you're already on campus and need a little pick me up but Starbucks is too far, why not go to Coffee Bean? I don't go here for the "coffee" in their name but more so for the "tea". I personally like Coffee Bean for their iced tea, ice blended, and tea lattes, not so much for their coffee (that's what's Starbucks is for). I love the drinks I get from Coffee Bean and ideally I would rate them a 3.5 or and round up to 4 stars, but I've had more bad experiences here than good. THE DETAILS: Located on campus (obvi); it's closer and more convenient than walking all the way to the UV for Starbucks. I understand that this location is extremely busy due to the rush of students and professors, but the service here is far from impeccable. The line to order is slow. The line to retrieve the drink is slow. Sometimes I find myself waiting for 15mins, but I can tell my fellow colleagues are trying as hard as they can while still smiling. THE DRINKS: Like I said, I don't come here for the coffee. I used to think Coffee Bean was meh until I found THE drink. Omg my favorite drink here ever is the Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearl Tea Latte (you can just say jasmine tea latte). I've gotten it both iced and hot but I prefer it hot. Jasmine tea is my favorite tea and this latte is absolutely delicious. The flavor of the tea is strong and in latte form it's perfect for a cold day. My second favorite drink here is the Pomegranate Blueberry ice blended. It's yummy and refreshing, perfect for a hot day! I've ordered regular iced coffee a couple times before but it's just average, nothing special. THE FOOD: I've ordered the everything bagel and the onion bagel with cream cheese for breakfast. I don't think you can really completely mess up on a bagel, so I thought it was pretty good. I sure love my carbs. THE END? This is a pretty standard coffee shop in the middle of UCR. I give it 5 stars because the drinks are tasty as heck. My recommendations: -Matcha tea latte(XL is $4.65) -Chai ice blended($6-$7, basically a smooth tea slushie) The service is good and quick. I can go here between classes and get in and out in about 10 minutes with a bit of a line. Can't recommend it enough - I love the drinks. They have routinely forgotten to make my drinks and I wait and see everyone who ordered after me get their drinks before me. They don't write names on cups so I've seen many people pick up other people's drinks on accident. They randomly place some drinks that you order there in the mobile order window and again, no names on drinks so as they pile up no one knows whose drink is whose or what the drink even is. Warm weather go-to's: - Matcha ice blend / iced matcha latte - Hazelnut ice blend / iced hazelnut latte - Iced Earl grey tea latte - Chai tea ice blend Cold weather go-to's: - Matcha tea latte - Hazelnut latte - Earl grey tea latte - Chai tea latte See a pattern? I try to get my drinks with soy milk (if I'm feeling fancy and I find an extra 60 cents on the floor) so it's creamier but it's perfectly fine/delicious/desirable/NOM with just the default! The only snack I've ever had here was the blueberry or cranberry/orange scones. They're pretty dense and occasionally dry (especially if you don't get it warmed up at the store) but they're relatively cheap for their massive size (the size of my whole hand) and really fill you up for a few hours if you're looking to avoid hearing grumbles during classes. Obviously if you're going to go during class rush hours your drink isn't going to be the best (i.e. too icy, old coffee, watered down, etc.) because of all the customers but if you go a few minutes after the rush it makes a total difference! I've never had a terrible experience here because of the kind and attentive staff (if you aren't happy that they aren't chipper when taking your order, remember that these workers are students too - cut them some slack!!) but -1 star because of its cramped seating area to the right. The worst place I have ever gotten coffee from... Coffee Bean ruined my first experience. I know UCR has been trying to step up in making their campus look 'nicer' but I think in general, the quality of some of the services provided there are just terrible. Environment/atmosphere: I would have to agree with Chanel C. This place is pretty darn bizzy during the school year. So you should always expect to wait in line, OR go between classes. Music wise... definitely does NOT feel like a coffee joint, but a club blazing all sorts of music, inside, and outside on their patio. If it were turned down just a little, i woudn't complain, but its just loud peroid, with all the customers, and workers. It is nice, and brand new inside, but, its sooo damn tight in there, and not as spacious as you would think. its hard to find a table to yourself, or find a chair for that matter, you're better off sitting outside. Service: Don't even get my start. It just sucked, BAD! It's not fast at all for a coffee place. You would think they are but you will definitely find yourself waiting for your coffee up to 5-10mins, or even forget your order.... Overall this place could do better, but I think they need to hire other people who are NOT students, in my personal opinion. Food/Drinks: Quality is sadly poor... I only went here once, and thats all it took. I ordered a caramel frap, and let me tell you... that shit was water/icey as hell. I don't like the fact that they don't accept gift cards which sucks because I wouldn't go out of my way to go to a coffee bean out side of campus.
