Drive thru or walk in. Always loved the i cold brew teas: peach jasmine or mango. Their matcha latte is also good, it's more milky but kinda in a good way that you also still taste the matcha. Definitely not the bitter type of matcha so you either like it or not. Also they use pebble ice for those who care. read more

It really saddens me to have to give a 1 star review. This is usually our go-to coffee shop. We prefer this over Starbucks and there's one in the neighborhood. However this morning when placing our order for 2 vanilla americanos and 2 chocolate croissants, we were given 2 vanilla lattes plus one chocolate croissant and one cinnamon roll. Oh and not to mention, our dog was in the back seat practically hanging out the window waiting excitedly for her biscuit. That wasn't given to her either. I think management needs to reassess the "B" crew that was working today's morning shift. read more

Thoroughly disgusted and more so disappointed with my experience with The Coffee Bean. There was a major problem with my receipt that I didn't notice it until the payment was completed. I tried to get a refund right away, but that wouldn't go through. I was told that it would take a few days for the refund to process. It never did, I went back was told it would take a few weeks to review the situation, every time I would go back and explain the situation. I was told it would take two weeks or so to review the problem, those two weeks have now turned into almost four months. I still don't have my money back, if Coffee Bean is that hard up for finances s, they should set up a GoFundMe page and not try to steal from an old man who just wants a cup of coffee and not his bank account drained. read more

Don't be fool by the hours posted in Yelp or even their own app. This store closes lobby AT FIVE PM. They don't have a separate hours for lobby listed in their app for lobby, so i guess they just list the drive-through? It's very misleading. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 12314 Poway Rd, Poway, California, 92064 It's an arduous task determining whether or not the current, "Brain Trust", that is managing (mismanaging) this business is deliberately sabotaging their enterprise with its many extremely over the top frugal practices or is that they're just so congenitally obtuse that they actually don't realize that they're alienating and destroying their customer base. Information and Knowledge can cure Ignorance. However, willful resistance and staggering stupidity are just hopeless cases. They have even resorted to scapegoating an old homeless man as though he is responsible for their forthcoming bankruptcy with projectionism like, "He smells bad." He was regular a customer who was scapegoated and banned from the store as the rationale for its inevitable forthcoming business failure. What really smells bad is that the ventilation fans in the restrooms have been turned off in violation of the sanitary code. Evidently this was done in a misguided austerity effort to save electricity. The hot water from the faucets in the restrooms have also been restricted. After 2 short pumps of hot water from the customers' restroom hand washing sink faucet the temperature returns to a reduced flow of cold water again. The restroom hand soap dispenser has been broken for at least the past 2 months. The customer is left wondering how anyone could satisfactorily wash their hands before eating in this establishment. The electrical outlets that patrons use to charge their cell phones and laptops are so loose that the electrical plugs cannot make contact and plugs often just fall out from the outlet. The maintenance of facilities there is slipshod to say the least. The stainless steel canisters in dining room lobby for dispensing the eating utensils are totally bereft of even plastics spoons, forks, or knifes, including napkins. If a customer needs an eating utensil or napkins they must reenter the que at lobby kiosk to beg for them. The place has become the proverbial, "veritable joke", on "How Not to Run Your Business." When I asked about their standard operating procedure regarding their bagels, it is to not throw out their old stale rubbery textured bagels that are well beyond their expiry date. They will just continue to sell them to their unsuspecting patrons and tell them that they were just delivered this morning. The texture is such that it's impossible to bite through them. On the lack of spoons; how many times do they think a drive-thru patron is going stir their hot coffee drink with their index finger before going somewhere else? Bankruptcy is inevitable for that store as they're nowhere close to competing with the real coffee pros like Starbucks. read more

I stop here on my way home from work to grab my afternoon coffee and tea for my daughter. The employees are always very nice and welcome you as you walk through the door. Usually I order our drinks (via the app) and they are ready when I get there. Today was super busy. The drive thru was packed and was full the entire time I was there and inside was equally as busy. The wait was a little more than usual but it was understandable because it was busy. The employees were really nice and they were keeping up the best they could. They asked if I was the mobile order and apologized for the wait. And even gave me a gift card for my next drink. It wasn't necessary but they did and it was appreciated. It made my day. Not good. It used to be a great spot for a cup of ice coffee. Now, it's really bad. I ordered an iced mocha, the rude lady was mean and totally not interested in serving us customers. Ice mocha turned out 90% ice, 10% drink. Out of that 10%, it tasted burned and bitter. The whole cup of mocha is so nasty, I have to ask them to make a new one. This is a lousy coffee shop. I have had no prior issues with this coffee bean location until this one day early Sept when I encountered an incredibly rude, unprofessional and frankly racist employee. Because I sometimes share a chocolate ice blended drink with my child (and for portion control), I asked if they could split the drink into 2 cups. Usually this isn't a problem. That particular day I needed a little caffeine boost but didn't want caffeine for my child, so I asked if I could pay for an espresso shot to be added to one of the cups. The employee said no, and I said that's fine. But this is where it gets weird. Even though I had accepted the response, the employee proceeded to condescendingly tell me that I am asking for more and trying to get away from paying less. At this point I was annoyed but still replied in good faith that it wasn't just abt cost but about portion control for the child. Somehow this made the employee more mad and he began a tirade about how it's about me trying to make him do extra work and pay less. Bear in mind that he already said no to my request and I already said fine, so this was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. At this point I was angry but tried to maintain my composure so I told him he had a bad attitude. His response was because "I DEAL WITH YOUR KIND ALL THE TIME". There was no reasoning with this person who seemed bent on publicly berating me for a request that I was willing to pay for and was denied anyway. So I spoke to the manager. As I tried to calmly explain the situation to the manager, the employee continued to taunt and yell from behind the counter. Considering the manner in which I was spoken to, as well as the phrase "I deal with your kind" used towards me, I can only conclude that this obnoxious behavior was racially motivated. The manager was nice and apologetic, but did not inform me if any action would be taken. The employee was also bold enough to say nothing would happen to him despite my complaint. If coffee bean and tea leaf continues to employ such racist individuals after an episode like this, I won't ever feel comfortable to return to any of their establishments again. read more

During my college days, I'd take advantage of their wifi, delicious drinks, and quiet environment. Much quieter than competing cafes, which is crucial when you study! -FRIENDLIEST SERVICE. This is the first drive thru location I've seen . I think they used to be a Del Taco here . It's a nice big location with two restrooms . Lots of seating and WiFi . Love the sugar / milk station as it was large and could help multiple customers at once . The cashier was so sweet ! Zam was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a medium ice coffee in large cup as I love the chewable ice here . Coffee came out quick and tasted great . Perhaps a bit too much ice compared to coffee but no biggie . Alyssa, girl at the window, short pixie hair, always wearing a hat, had massive attitude for no reason. We had a smaller than usual order and clarified at the window. The girl gave so much attitude for no reason. I have a milk allergy so I clarify at the window, "this is oat milk right?" She said, "you said it three times so yes it is oatmilk!" Mind you, I said it once at the speaker. She handed us a sandwich, untoasted and we had asked for it to be toasted. "Next time ask at the speaker if you want it toasted." When normally they ask if we want it toasted. She blamed us and said it with attitude. We've had respectful servers before, but this time, definitely not. Also, they're always out of everything. Anytime we ask for a sandwich or something they're always out of it. Every time, at least one thing we ask for is "out". I've never had someone be so disrespectful here. Walking in, you'll see plenty of tables, chairs, and outlets (any student's best friend!). This is a great location to get some work/ study done or catch up with a friend. Noise level is pretty average: not too loud, not too quiet. I came here on a Saturday morning to get some studying done. I was greeted by one of their employees, Terry. She was super helpful and knowledgeable with menu choices as well as kind and patient. (Thank you, Terry! ) She recommended the hazelnut iced coffee so I decided to order that and a lemon loaf. Hazelnut Iced Coffee (3.5/5) -The coffee is slightly too sweet for me but still enjoyable. I recommend their iced coffee if you're not much of a sweet tooth. Lemon Loaf (3.5/5) - Their loaf is okay. I have to admit, I am quite loving the staff, service, and product being set forward at this Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf location. I have visited several times and each time I have purchased something different, but it has all been the same, down to the great friendly service and purchased items, great stuff! Highlights are an item I recently enjoyed, the pumpkin spiced doughnut warmed up. The doughnut was very moist and came with a sugary. but not to overly sweet glaze. The doughnut provided a very good mild spice and pumpkin flavor. Sometimes, they over spice them, which kinda ruins the pumpkin flavor, but this one was just right. Other items I have eaten are the maple pecan scone which was great and the toasted everything bagel, another nice treat. I have enjoyed several drinks from here, including a Cafe au Lait, iced coffee, regular drip coffee, and green tea. My favorites so far are the Cafe au Lait and the cold brewed coffee. The au lait was quite the robust little cafe in flavor and strength. Its flavor was king and they put just the right amount of frothy foam on top created by the hot milk. Their iced coffee was quite good as well. I was pleased the way it held its robust flavor even after being iced and sitting in ice while I worked away. Every time I have entered this place, I have been great by an employee, and what every employee I encountered at the counter has been up beat and friendly. I have been coming to the coffee bean for a while now and I just love the staff! They are always so pleasant and I really feel like they make my day better. I typically go through the drive thru, but I went inside the other day! The inside was super clean and welcoming, I think I will definitely have to come here more often to work. Whitney is such a nice person and always has a smile on her face. I can tell she loves what she does and she does a great job! She always makes my drinks super fast and they are delicious.
