    Charcuterie

We recently visited this restaurant to try it a second time. My experience wasn't any better. It does well on Yelp, so it might just be me, so you be the judge: At first glance, the place looked dark and like a small shop cheese chop that was closed. I have come to realize that a trap door leads into the restaurant and opens to expose it from the other end. This feature must be new because I do not recall from my 2017 experience. I like this "Hogwarts-like" feature, and its neatness suits me perfectly. The setup inside is pretty nifty and romantic, which is exactly my goal with my wife. The small cozy establishment has a very long bar that eats up much of the space inside. This is not necessarily a problem, except that there is a dog excited for new guests, cutting into the already narrow path. The dog was kind of cute at first, but kept coming back and kind of disrupting the conversation. Except for mild chastising, the dog was just on an adventure. The lady running the establishment wasn't exactly on top of it, but it wasn't as if the dog was barking or jumping on anyone other than "making the rounds" to check us out, sniff, and stare when food came out. We did notice that the dog got everywhere, including cubbies with plates near the ground, which I hope were just there for decor. The nice serving lady seemed out of sorts (as if she wasn't prepared for clients). She needed updated menus with the wines or items they were offering included, but these had not been printed, I suppose. Understand that we had in mind a series of items from their website menu that were nowhere to be found in their more limited selection. So, we "adjust our palette" to select something else. We wanted a flight of wines (something we thought was a thing for them); she provided it, but it was as if it were a "side thing" because they stopped doing flights (?). She did say they were in the process of switching over seasonal vintages, though I am uncertain how this is part of why they don't do flights anymore. The flights came with one selection that was different from our choice because the wine had turned, so she just replaced it for us without feedback (one of the whites). It also came with a red that was turned, and we had to return it. No problem, in that she just brought us another choice. But she lacked communication with us to offer options on the first. Then came a second dog. This one was a bit barky, and the distractions only grew. I'm looking back at my wife, and right beside her is the yellow-taped murder scene that had once been the mood that had accompanied us that Saturday. The seats were not exactly comfortable because they were narrow (my butt is just too big for them, so that's on me). Yet, by now, the little things are starting to stack up into a big pile. I don't think round tables for such a small establishment work well, as was evident when other folks walked in (two couples who were sitting together but couldn't really "share" the tables). The charcuterie eventually arrived but lacked a few items that were supposed to be included with it. We did ask for the nuts because I really wanted those, but there were pickles and the like missing from the order. Whatever: at that point, we were hungry and, frankly, done with this place. Our dish, I will say, was lovely despite its missing parts. And tasted even better. There were no issues with this part; they have really tasty cheeses. The wines were OK (barring the one that was turned that we did taste). Look, my wife implored me not to write a review because our experience was so bad all we could do was laugh. In truth, I hate writing bad reviews. However, I don't consider myself picky or overtly critical, but I am on Yelp because I like to read people's honest experiences about an establishment and feel I should pay it back. This was my honest experience at The Cheese Patch, and perhaps it was a one-off, but it was mine and my last, considering my 2017 "go" had not really been a smash either. Maybe you would like it better than I did, so by all means, give them a go, but be advised.

Immaculate vibe, satisfying cocktails, proper wine selections and delicious cheese boards paired with unwavering service. This all made for a memorable and elevated experience in Patchogue. You'd be glad to stumble upon this rare find!

I came here with my husband to celebrate our anniversary and we had the best time! I definitely recommend going on a Thursday night for their jazz night. Service was great, food was delicious, music was amazing!

An excellent local cheese shop in the heart of Patchogue. Great for choose-your-own cheeses to go, lovely boards of cheese with dried fruits and nuts to enjoy there or to take with you to a gathering (or home for yourself haha). They create all different sized boards for events, parties, and holidays if you need a sharp looking charcuterie to bring with you somewhere. The Cheese Patch is a cute little spot you can sit and hang out with friends or family while sipping on wine and snacking on charcuterie. They host live music nights and other cool events and specials depending on the time of year. (You can stay in the loop by following their social media.) The owner, Paige, is very knowledgable about cheese and wine and gives great recommendations so definitely ask if you are looking to try something new!

This place looks like such a hole in the wall from the outside but it's anything but that on the inside. A couple of my girlfriends and I were so happy to sit in the front room and enjoy a delicious cheese, fruit and jam spread paired with some great wine. We had manchego, brie, and this cheese that has crystallized pieces inside. All the cheeses were so good! Come to find out that behind a bookcase that we sat by the whole time, there was a massive bar area and even a cute little shop! We were in shock! They're still working on the bar in the back which is debuting as a speakeasy in November. What a gem!

My friend invited me out as her plus one to share in a Groupon cheese and wine tasting experience. This is a lovely establishment, the inside is quaint and charming! When we got in it definitely took the owner a few minutes before she served us however she did seat us and give us water. It was odd though because my friend booked a 1:00 slot but the woman declared a 1:30 time was better for her in order to get things together. Idk what happened but their communication was definitely off. Any who, eventually she brought us out the cheese spread and 4 wines to taste each. The spread was beautifully put together and she explained in great detail about all the cheese and wines and where they come from. I definitely wouldn't have done this experience on my own but it was really nice! The four different cheeses we tasted were all unique in flavor and texture and the wines were also magnificent! The shop also sells cheeses by the pound and different meats and fondue trinkets. It's a very unique place and J definitely dug it.

If you're a cheese lover, you're not going to want to miss out on this! It was my first time ever going, and Paige, who is also the owner, was a great person to start off with! Not only did she go in depth on all the cheese selections as well as what type I would like most to create the perfect flight - but she was more than patient with me! We paired up with one good meat choice - although you could've done two cheeses and two meats, or any combination as long as it is no more than four. You can probably add more for an additional price, I'm not too sure about that. She put it out with dried fruits, crackers and even a very good jam that just ... WOW! Everything was so well put together. She is such a kind soul with such a beautiful establishment to match! They have a wide selection of wines, draft beer and cocktails to pick from. I had their Mojito - which let me tell you, packs a huge punch!! it's a great time though and tastes wonderful. Overall it was a very good experience with some amazing tasting cheese! My favorite cheese was the one to the far left, it is a sheep cheese. So soft and delicate to the bite! Any cheese lovers dream!

Wine, cheese, a view of Main Street what more could you want for a perfect Saturday date? We used the Groupon and were in for quite the surprise. We were given explanations of each tasting and which cheeses pair best with which wines. The fig jam and salted almonds rounded out the perfect cheese plate. The presentation and explanation were better than some of the "prestigious" wineries out east. We've given groupons here to family and friends. Additionally, as a part of the Patchogue Breakfast Crawl we tried the cheese fondue and it was such a delicious bite!

Great little cheese shop. Last night my husband and I ordered the cheese tray to share. We chose 4 different cheeses. They let you sample before you choose. My absolute favorite is the truffle tremor. The Saint Angel is also delicious and super creamy! I love that they have gluten free rice crackers to serve with the cheese. Paige the owner is a doll. Her son Spencer was working and he was a curtesy and attentive young gentleman. We checked in on Yelp and received 20% off. They have live music on weekend and do cheese and wine pairing with a appointment.

Say cheese! Also, say wine. At The Cheese Patch you should probably do both. My vino and dairy venture began via Groupon purchase (for 4) that was cashed in a few weeks ago. Results? A mixed bag of feelings, but a mutual "sure" on a future return. Let's get tastin'. First off, Main Street in Patchogue offers up almost any edible treat you can think of, so finding TCP right along this road is no surprise. The size might be what's startling as it's on the tinier side with enough room to hold a few handfuls of people before you might start feeling like a sardine. Luckily, we strolled in at a time when the place only housed two others besides our group of four. Second off (I'll keep up with what I started), we'll dive into the service. It truly started rocky as the woman in charge was a bit condescending, especially to the fact that we didn't have a reservation. Maybe I missed that part of the Groupon, but we weren't aware we needed one. Besides this, like I said the place was empty, and from that empty factor she was able to make it work...good move. The initial feeling of unfriendliness lingered for a few minutes as we grabbed a table and waited for our cheese plate and wine sampling (what the Groupon gave us) to reach our table. Though as soon as the woman brought things over, it was like a whole new experience. She turned on the fun and got real with us about cheese, wine, cooking, gardening, and just enjoying life. That flip in service saved this review a full star for sure. As for the wines and cheese, there wasn't a physical list to remember exactly what was consumed (and I didn't write things down in the moment...whoops), but we were given four cheeses and four wines along with some fig jam, cranberries, walnuts, and thin wafer crackers. The cheeses complimented each glass of vino surprisingly well. For example, one cheese held a great infusion of peppercorns. This matched up with a red wine selection that had a little bite to it. Okay wine and cheese, you've peeked my interest. Overall, The Cheese Patch started off a little smelly (and I don't mean from Limburger), but got its act together to really deliver a delightful time with cheese and wine. Like I said, would I return? Sure! It's an experience worth having more than once (perhaps with a reservation?). So if you find yourself in Patchogue and need your dairy (and liquid fruit) fix then check this spot out.

Yummy hard cheeses, loved this place.

The cheese patch came to the rescue for me! It was a ridiculous Thursday, live after five (NEVER AGAIN), and I saw this cute, bright spot that had just a few people inside and I thought, they have the right idea! I was so happy I stumbled in after braving the streets of these people flocking everywhere! They offer up a huge wine selection, craft beers, and this awesome pineapple cider.. this younger kid helped us, but he was SO good, he knew his stuff and he was better than some of the other people that consider themselves connoisseurs lol. He was very mild tempered and patient especially since we def rolled in there a little tipsy. There's a few seats in the front overlooking main street at a high top bar which is cute or you can sit round the bar where they're serving. It was such a cute set up. Had a really yummy cheese plate (we selected mostly hard cheeses) and they were all amazing. This one particular stuck out, a harder cheese that had a purple crusted appearance on the outside since it was soaked in wine (the name escapes me). It was really good. And the Gouda had some of those crunchy crystals that you love so much when you know a cheese is aged to perfection (beemster!) They had a really nice menu that I'd like to come back and try...

There's a small lot that's free and you can park on Jennings. (sorry residents). We went on NYE so had to park several blocks away. No biggie. The inside is dark and cool with a city-vibe. Ample bar space and 1-4 tops an some banquet seating that lets you look out over the street. We were greeted right away by what turned out to be our server and seated promptly by the windows (we had a reservation). Also greeted by a gentleman that we think might have been her dad. The young lady hustled all night and managed the crowd well. We never waited too long for her to check in on us and she was very helpful with selecting wine and clarifying menu items. That being said, THIS IS A SMALL PLATES JOINT. People expecting full-sized portions should adjust their expectations accordingly. We did, however, order the Trastavere seafood platter (medium) which came as a tower and seemed impressive. Two types of oysters (large and medium) were presented; briny and fresh and pretty damned tasty. There was also a ceviche and tuna tartare that was, unfortunately, a bit unremarkable, as was the shrimp cocktail (though the shrimps were pretty hefty). The American "black caviar" was a nice way to commemorate the meal. Nutty with a pop of salinity but maybe something you can skip. We meant to order the Carne e Formaggi but got the Gamberetto instead which was fine as it was pretty tasty nonetheless (made with shrimp but it almost tasted like smoked salmon). Virgola Manhattan was good but pretty standard. Follow-up drink of dirty Manhattan was blissfully salty and cold. But back to the menu: we are unsure if they have an actual kitchen back there which would also explain the small plates concept and oyster and chilled fish options. The bruschetta was tasty, as mentioned, but it seems like they cut and toasted the bread and topped it with the crudo. The other bruschetta options featured ingredients from other menu items that could be re-purposed for multiple dishes. Smart but expect this. We plan on returning and trying the charcuterie board (mix and match cheeses and meats) and some cocktails. Overall, a nice night out and a nice option for dining and drinking around Patchogue. Cheers!

The place has such a fun vibe, with beautiful art decor and bar. Service perfect in every way with Jane and Mark handling everything so efficiently and friendly personalities so fun! The food so good and so much for guests. They even packed up five bags of leftovers for us! Price reasonable. Very! This should be the only place you consider for bridal or baby shower. Also, they are open to public in the evenings but we had the whole place closed down just for us. Aaron great guitarist. My daughter was so happy! Thank you, Lindsay, Jane, Mark and Aaron for the best time ever!

It's one of my favorites. The Mediterranean plate is another one of my go to's. Last time I went, they were out of some wines so we opted for a red blend which was good. It's a small restaurant/bar so if you're looking for cozy and quiet, try to go earlier. If you get there on a Friday night after 8, it' can get very loud because they usually have live music and it gets busy. My friend and I made a 6:30 reservation so we were pretty much finished with our meal before it got really busy in there. They usually have great live acoustic music so stay to check them out!

It did not disappoint. The minute we walked in the door we were sold. Kimberly welcomed us warmly and a jazz quartet was playing. We chose a table by the bar with two comfy chairs. We ordered the two tiered Sandwich and pastry selections, along with mimosas, all delicious! Brunch and jazz, what a wonderful combination on a Sunday afternoon. We cant wait to return another time for dinner.

Which was if you didn't order from Tiers ? You basically paid for the entertainment....a personal pizza with vegan cheese cauliflower crust ...3 coffees a piece of banana bread= $77.00 !!! I was flabbergasted...!! My friend paid bit o was like what the heck!! Never going back... she could have mentioned that there would be a fee for entertainment. She did not. Never going back.

They have one large high top table that accompanies large groups. Otherwise a small dining area in back (emphasis on small and tight), but cozy. The food comes out all at different times, smaller dishes meant to be passed and shared. A friend we went with had said the menu changed a little from the last time they came but overall the same. What we ordered and tried was all phenomenal. Can't go wrong with the Brussels sprouts and Braided short rib. The veal meatballs were mouthwatering and bread with Gorgonzola. Chefs kiss every bit. Ugh the dessert display, and variety can't be beat. I can't wait to go back and try them all!!! The atmosphere is dark and stormy, dim lights, with a gentle flicker of battery operated candle light. The bar area was packed it takes up the whole front end. A convenient location in Patchogue to walk around and a large public parking area in back, be careful of the permit only spots. Our waiter Mike was friendly, explained how the kitchen functioned and made recommendations, never pushy and timed his visits perfectly.
