Attended a wedding shower in mid October. Great weather and we were able to utilize both the inside and outside areas. Robust and colorful, the layout of tables, chairs, couches, gardens and more make it easy to gather and connect with other people. Buffet-style platters of food got down to empty before they were replaced with new trays. Food was tasty and all guests seemed to enjoy everything on the menu.

Excellent drink creations and interior design. This place is such a beautiful spot for delicious drinks with friend groups or for a date. It can get super packed and noisy on the weekends or when a popular food truck is outside (you're allowed/encouraged to bring the food in with you). They do have their own kitchen too for when there is no food truck. Be prepared for some extended wait times for your drinks when it's busy. They were definitely understaffed during my last visit. One bartender and two servers for the entire inside and outside area on a packed day on the weekend is just not enough and puts so much stress on the employees, who were super sweet and friendly despite the high fast-paced workload. So sit back, enjoy your time, and maybe get in the order for your next round a little ahead of time before finishing your drink. A favorite spot of mine for sure!

Cocktails and mocktails

Came here on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate a friends birthday. I have been very excited to try this place out since sampling some of their spirits at a liquor tasting at my local liquor store. The decor is very 70s inspired and it was fun to look at all of the different details that they had and the seating is also very cozy with couches and coffee tables. My husband, sister and I arrived a half hour earlier than my friends did so we attempted to go to the bar to place our order but the bartender told us to sit down and order from the server. It took the server about 20 minutes to come over and take our order and another 20 minutes to get our cocktails. I ordered the lavender haze mocktail; it was delicious. My sister also ordered a mock tail which she enjoyed and my husband enjoyed his cocktail. When our friends finally arrived, there were too many of us to fit inside so we sat on the outside on the large patio which had lots of space for us. They continue to discourage us from ordering at the bar so we had to wait for a server to come see us outside. This took about another half hour. My husband sister, and I decided not to order another drink because of how long it took to get the first round and it also seemed like we couldn't pay for our drinks separately this time so we decided to not order anything to not confuse the bill. If we had been able to order separately at the bar ourselves, we probably would've ordered two more drinks each. When the server arrived for the first round of drinks for our friends, he spilled one of them and the glass broke. He promptly returned with a replacement however he left the glass shards all over the table. Our friends finished up their drinks and we were very excited to leave to go grab lunch and more drinks at Blue Point. Maybe it was just a staffing issue, not sure, hopefully they can rectify the disorganization for the future.

This review is for a special event at this location. The facility has many inside and outside areas to explore and spread out. There's a parking lot behind the building. The STAFF was AWESOME, the kindness was genuine, and each staff member made you feel special. The bartenders are artists and put 110% in each mixed cocktail that they made. The passed appetizers were piping hot. If you're having a future event for work, a large party or a wedding, etc. I highly recommend that you book this facility.

Interior bar and retro vibe.

Talk about a moment of revelation, but upon my first real understanding of the location of Better Man Distilling, I realized it is in fact the old Blue Point Brewery. Huh. That was kind of cool (and a little jarring) to see as my wife and I pulled up this past summer for an outdoor movie night, but hey, I'm glad the place is being used for libation purposes. Let's back track a bit and fill out the intro as Better Man Distilling hosts some fun events at their indoor/outdoor distillery including film features such as 13 Going On 30 (a favorite of my female and one I was willing to watch to check out the entirety of BMD). Although not spending much time inside, the interior is definitely a more open space than Blue Point ever was with a retro yet cozy vibe. The exterior has a decent amount of tables and seating though where they show the movie (a projected screen against a storage structure) might not have been perfect viewing for some. Luckily, my wife and I got to Better Man on the earlier side and we were able to snag a relatively close and centered spot. Better Man has that internal bar, but the rest of the place runs on wait staff who were friendly and did a nice job checking in throughout our time there (including during the movie). We were never truly looking for someone to help us out which is nice. It was also pretty cool to see that the menu of items they had featured food, drinks, and a handful of movie-themed/named choices. It added a little pizzazz to the evening. What was also "pizzazzy" was their happy hour pizza deal. You get two drinks and a pizza for $25 which is a nice price, though BMD has some really creative cocktails (which are not part of this deal) though we were still able to do a little up charge dance and make those drinks work. Let's talk food first because the pizza, spreads (we got a trio of different types) and chocolate/strawberry popcorn (a movie item) were all quite tasty. I'll even quickly mention my wife's second drink (a piña colada based off of the movie menu) was also tasty and quite big. And therein lies my one big gripe with Better Man and a factor that takes the review down a star. Better Man's signature drinks come out looking like art. The colors, toppers (I had a toasted marshmallow on top of mine), and glassware creates some beautiful drinks that are indeed quite tasty and well-balanced...except half of their drinks are ice. Yeah, a giant circular ball of ice looks cool in a small glass, but a lesson on volume will quickly tell you that this cuts out quite a lot of liquid. So does a giant rectangular slab of frozen water in the middle of a tall glass. Both are examples of the ice found in our (my wife and I) drinks. I mean I don't expect any place to necessarily dole out huge libations, but those ice shapes just made me feel a bit slighted on the price and amount of drink I'm actually getting. Maybe that's just me. Overall though, Better Man Distilling is a pleasant spot to chill out, catch an outdoor movie (in the warmer months), try some tasty grub, and definitely get some well made cocktails (albeit with a lot of deceiving ice in them). That frozen factor won't stop me from returning because I did enjoy the setup, staff, and everything Better Man had to offer. Now if only they could do a retro Blue Point Brewery evening. Hmm...

This place was great from the people, to the ambience to the drinks - I did the tour lasted a little over an hour - Mike was leading the tour and he was awesome - so knowledgable and thorough. It started out with a complimentary cocktail. The place is decorated beautifully - with a ton of seating - the outdoor space is just as nice with different themed igloos to rent out. I had the Carrie Bradshaw drink which was really good.

Always a fabulous selection of drinks and apps. My favorite lavender bees knees. The charcuterie board is full with a nice selection of cheese, meats, fruit and crackers.

What a great movie night with my daughter and neighbors! First, I love that Bettermans provides such a nice space that's family friendly. It's great to give my fifteen year old a girls night out with mock tails and food. Let's talk about the food! I failed at taking pictures because we were hungry and the food looked so good we just jumped in. The harissa steak and bulgar risotto is by far a top item in the menu! The pizzas are great too, the vegetables and the prosciutto were both perfectly flavored with a nice crust! Outdoor movie, we'll, it's a cute idea but no regulation. The table next to us had 2 dogs, and the one kept begging for food from our table, they were actually quite annoying and the two women were trying to yell over the speaker which they sat right in front of. I would suggest for movie nights, have some kind of courtesy rules in place because it would completely change the experience. Poor staff was sweet as can be, but they looked like they could have used another person on tonight! I will say, considering they seemed short staffed for the event, they still pumped out good service and quality food.

On Sunday 15 of us arrived here from Queens, for our friend's 40th birthday.. Such an amazing place! I will start off by saying Gabby and Mike! Phenomenal staff. Our drinks were delivered fast even during the tour and our tour was amazing with Mike. He's such a great communicator. It wasn't dry or boring he kept us interested, answered questions! Love the decor inside and outside of the area. Drinks were smooth but still powerful and the appetizers were great. Best drink was requested by Gabby. It's called black berry something lol but it was refreshing!

FRIGGIN' LOVE THIS PLACE! Atmosphere: GREAT. They've done such a great job renovating this place since taking it over from Blue Point. All around cool vibes. The new indoor seating is great as well. Cool bar area, nice vibes. Outdoor seating has heat lamps and theres always great entertainment. Service: very good! The staff is just great all around. Very friendly and efficient. It sometimes takes a while to order but never anything to complain about. Food: they usually have some type of food truck or local restaurant providing food. From Tokin Tacos to the Cheese Patch..there is always an option for something tasty. Drinks: SO GOOD. & so creative! I love that they always have specials but I can also just get a solid gin martini if i choose.

A friend of mine lives in the neighborhood and suggested grabbing a drink there, and it turned out to be such a fun spot. I'm not usually a big cocktail person, but once I saw they had espresso martinis, I was immediately on board. Their cocktail menu is actually pretty impressive, with a nice mix of classics and more creative options, plus everything is made with their own spirits. The espresso martini was smooth, not too sweet, and easy to drink! Exactly what I wanted. If cocktails aren't your thing, they also have a small beer selection, which is nice if you're with a group and everyone wants something different. We went on a Friday night and the place was busy, with live music playing and a great vibe overall. Lots of people hanging out, chatting, and clearly enjoying themselves. It had that local neighborhood feel, like a place people come back to often, not just a one-time stop. This was such a great find and a perfect spot for a casual night out. Good drinks, live music, and a fun atmosphere made it a win. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

He was helpful with making a drink recommendation based upon our personal drink preferences. I opted for the strawberry fields and it was fantastic and refreshing. Riverhead is a great place to spend the day sampling local brews, grabbing a bite for lunch, and now you can grab a beautifully made cocktail in the middle of all that. Patrons were spaced a part appropriately and all employees had their masks on. They had a list of cocktails, samplings, and small bites. We ended up trying a couple different cocktails, none of which disappointed, and a flat bread that really hit the spot. Drinks were made fresh and will set you back around $12. Warning: you'll want to try more than one! The Blue 71st was one of the best and most interesting gin & tonics I've ever had. After spending the weekend getting soaked by drink prices in the Hamptons I was also happy to discover that prices here were incredibly reasonable. A standard mixed drink is $10, cocktails are around $14. Twin Stills is a family owned business with a cool history of how they got started. Their whiskey comes from an old Portuguese tradition of single small batch distillation. They have moonshine tastings, three for $9.00. Pick your flavors and enjoy! My favorite was the Apple Pie Moonshine, which we bought a couple bottles of. They also have a few whiskey's, vodka and brandy as well and if you want a full drink they have cocktails and beers too. Really a very cool spot on Long Island to have some quality moonshine. When we were there, a food truck was also parked out front, so on a nice day you can pull up a chair outside, grab some food and enjoy the best moonshine in the area, and some great customer service. Lentz_explore

No friends, this isn't a review about something I whipped up in a bathtub during the prohibition…read more Nay, instead we're talking about some legitimate moonshine (and mixed drinks) from Twin Stills located out east on the North Fork of Long Island. My wife and her family finally swung by this spot back at the beginning of the summer as we tasted up some delightful libations. Now truth be told, I had already sampled several moonshine flavors made at Twin Stills as you can often find them selling bottles of their o'OldTymer alcohol at farmers markets and places like Total Wine. And I've passed the actual storefront a ton of times while heading out east, but never once did I stop in (until now). I mean, it's honestly nothing special, the interior of Twin Stills. You have a tiny bar of a few seats and walls with their various moonshine flavors available. Outside you'll find a handful of tables so on warmer/nicer days you'll be able to sit and sip your moonshine which is what we did. Well it was almost only me who partook in their offerings as I was most intrigued by the fruity flavor options they had. Apple Pie is the best, but one I've tried prior, so I decided to do a "flight" of moonshine with other flavor options. I went with raspberry, mixed berry, and coffee as my three choices. Oh and I put flight in quotations because with moonshine, your samples are itty bitty. The price isn't horrible though at $9 for the trio. I'd also say that none of the flavors were horrible either, though coffee might've been a bit too strong and mixed berry didn't taste like anything specific. Raspberry, on the other hand, was outstanding. I wanted a bottle of that, but there was one other flavor I wanted to sample before my purchase (well I would've liked to have tried chocolate but it was sold out). The lady behind the bar gave me a free fourth taste of blueberry moonshine which was almost as delicious as the raspberry. In the end, it couldn't beat out that raspy winner, and so a bottle of raspberry was bought. Backtracking for a sec, I did mention I was almost the only one to drink at Twin Stills, but I can't forget to mention my wife's cocolada drink. This was a mixture of muddled fruit, a moonshine flavor, and coconut cream. She ordered a raspberry option (because it was the best flavor, of course) and boy was it a tasty mixture. I'd definitely want to try to copy that simple recipe at home and make my own. Yum. Overall, Twin Stills Moonshine is a lovely little Long Island spot with quality alcoholic concoctions. Perhaps a few moonshine flavors miss the mark, but most are delightful and worthy of drinking on their own, over some ice, or just grab that coconut cream and start the party. Regardless of how you drink it, just know it wasn't made in a bathtub...I think.

In that case, be prepared to park on a side street, possibly up to a few blocks away, and then be prepared to walk uphill a couple of blocks. The tasting area is very welcoming and cozy, with seats at a small bar, "bistro barrels," some long tables and at least one really comfy sofa. The owners are really knowledgeable and friendly. They're the type of people with whom I'd enjoy sitting down and having a conversation, if they weren't already busy running the place. This was a place where I was surprised that I wasn't fond of the bourbon. The whiskey and rye were more appealing to me. But the big surprise was the honey vodka. Similarly, the gin was very interesting, and this would not be a gin I'd use for traditional cocktails, but would find other options. But this is still a really neat place to visit.
