Stopped into Twisted Cow Distillery while visiting town, and I honestly had never heard of it…read morebefore. A friend of mine lives in the neighborhood and suggested grabbing a drink there, and it turned out to be such a fun spot. I'm not usually a big cocktail person, but once I saw they had espresso martinis, I was immediately on board. Their cocktail menu is actually pretty impressive, with a nice mix of classics and more creative options, plus everything is made with their own spirits. The espresso martini was smooth, not too sweet, and easy to drink! Exactly what I wanted. If cocktails aren't your thing, they also have a small beer selection, which is nice if you're with a group and everyone wants something different. We went on a Friday night and the place was busy, with live music playing and a great vibe overall. Lots of people hanging out, chatting, and clearly enjoying themselves. It had that local neighborhood feel, like a place people come back to often, not just a one-time stop. This was such a great find and a perfect spot for a casual night out. Good drinks, live music, and a fun atmosphere made it a win. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

When a friend of mine, who like me also enjoys bourbon, suggested StillTheOne, I was excited to pay them a visit. That visit went in unexpected directions - not bad ones fortunately. Even though they have a small parking lot, you might not be able to find a spot. In that case, be prepared to park on a side street, possibly up to a few blocks away, and then be prepared to walk uphill a couple of blocks. The tasting area is very welcoming and cozy, with seats at a small bar, "bistro barrels," some long tables and at least one really comfy sofa. The owners are really knowledgeable and friendly. They're the type of people with whom I'd enjoy sitting down and having a conversation, if they weren't already busy running the place. This was a place where I was surprised that I wasn't fond of the bourbon. The whiskey and rye were more appealing to me. But the big surprise was the honey vodka. I've never been big on vodka or vodka cocktails, and I'd never had one I'd consider sipping. This one I would. Similarly, the gin was very interesting, and this would not be a gin I'd use for traditional cocktails, but would find other options. But this is still a really neat place to visit. Once you find which liquors and cocktails you like here, I could see spending a nice amount of time here with friends.

I'm a huge fan of the 914 Bourbon and the honey vodka. If you don't like vodka - you will still like this vodka. And if you like vodka, you will be drinking this stuff neat. It's unbelievable good and really smooth. They also do karaoke nights and have food trucks on Saturday so it's just a cool place to spend some time with other friends and just enjoy an authentic distillery experience that's a short drive from some great at restaurants.

Class came with $25 to spend at the bar. The velvet clover drink, OMG, so good. I had two and the lady next to me ordered herself one too and loved it. This place is truly a hidden gem. My friends and I were headed to Seven Tribesman in Wayne, but…read morerealized it was closed for a private event. We did a quick search, saw Jersey Spirits Distilling and decided to give it a try. I would have never known it existed since it's tucked in the back of an industrial complex. From the outside, it looks small, but it's pretty spacious inside. When we were seated, our server gave us a brief history of the distillery. I love that it's family-owned and all of the ingredients are locally sourced from NJ. There are so many different cocktail options, and some of them were so creative in their presentation. Since I was having a difficult time deciding, I went with the Espresso Martini flight. It came with a Traditional, Pistachio, and Jelly Ring martini. I also ordered a cookie butter martini. My favorite was definitely the creamy pistachio martini. I am so happy to have discovered Jersey Spirits Distilling and can't wait to visit again soon!

Just spent 3 hours at NJ Artisan Distillery and our group left with smiles on our faces, new…read moreacquaintances and a spicy taste in our mouths thanks to a special batch of liquor naturally named Hot Chocolate Sex (thanks uncle Jim!). The night started with a tasting of their super clean and smooth white rum followed by a smokey , more full bodied dark rum. Next we had a choice of a couple different liquors where I went with a "Suisse le bleu" absinthe drink. Made half and half with seltzer and a dab of ice, the liquor miraculously turned light blue. Strong smell of licorice off the top but the taste was surprisingly light and subtle for being 140 proof (less after being mixed obviously). The ladies had a coffee liquor which was the white rum mixed with soaked in Brazilian coffee beans. The entire time conversations were flowing between Brant(master distiller), Jim (NJ homebrew club advisor and drink architect), Doug (NJ homebrew flu. President and Brant's right hand man) and our group. Next we went on the distillery tour where Brant gave us his background and a bit of history. You can tell right off the bat that his passion comes from the heart and everything done at the distillery was carefully thought out from start to finish. After the tour, we were treated to more drinks and even a rum strawberry Gelato dessert... "hard ice". All I can say is wow! So tasty and just the right amount of kick. They need to put stuff on shelves in supermarkets! Also had one of their mojitos.... Very yummy. The crew then started talking about the different stuff they have distilled or architectured, which included peepski (melted peep for sugar base) and hot chocolate sex (rum, frap, Bosco, mead and hot peppers). Jim was nice enough to bring out his personal bottle of the hot chocolate sex which we got to try... Definitely interesting! They also brought out some local nj hot sauce to try with the chips. All in all a fantastic night!
