The place is located on a main street with enough parking. The shop is cozy, with fantastic staff working there. I was going to the winery on the weekend and needed some excellent cheeses and meats. This place offers a good variety of cheeses which you can try before you buy. The lady helping me knew a lot about cheeses and flavors and helped me with my decisions. The cheeses were outstanding and went well with our red wine. The place is on the pricy side, but it is totally worth it read more

This place is just so awesome! Anytime I need a good cheese it's my goto. The staff and owner are fabulous - this last time I took my daughter (who recently discover cheese) to find out which one she liked most. They let us sample a range of awesome blue's, and then we grabbed her a wedge of her own "nibbling cheese" that I'm not allowed to touch. Make sure to try their sandwiches, mac and cheese, or charcuterie boards (or supplies for them). They are all fantastic! read more

Cute little shop! The staff is always very kind and knows what they're talking about but not overbearing which I appreciate! Tons of different cheese to try and other things here and there. They're also always more than happy to let you sample the cheese. The parking could be better, but it's not usually super crowded. I'm definitely going to try some of their food next time I go! read more

Loving this spot for cheese! I can't wait to go back for a sandwich and to try more cheeses to make an awesome cheese and charcuterie board for a picnic or hang out. I love that all the cheeses are marked with the type of animal it's from: cow, goat, or sheep. read more

Oh my goodness! When I walked in I felt like I died and went to cheese Heaven! The cheese selection is amazing! There is practically every cheese known to man here and the best part is there not stingy with allowing you to sample the meat and cheese. Best cheese shop I been too! Great place with a great selection. Very knowledgeable staff. I have gone to Babylon cheese cellar several times. Each time my experience has been better than the last. The quality of products are exceptional and the customer service is even more accommodating. If you are looking for high quality cheese, meat, condiments, and more. Very nice shop. It's clean and pretty. The staff is super polite and helpful. They have a pretty nice selection of cheeses and meats to go with it. The staff definitely knew their stuff. I'll definitely come back again. I am a cheese lover by birth but this place took my love of cheese to the next level! I can't wait to go back and get more cheeses! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! read more

If you don't get your cheese from here, I feel sorry for you. The selection is always plentiful and the staff is knowledgeable and very welcoming. It can be overwhelming shopping for cheese but not at the Babylon Cheese Cellar. You can try different things or ask for recommendations and I promise you will never leave disappointed. It is also a one stop shop with meats and all the fixings for a show stopping charcuterie board. Don't sleep on the grilled cheese menu also! read more

Came in for the first time today and the store smelled like what I'd expect heaven to smell like when we walked in. Bought their hot hot honey and we had to get the Miller Place grilled cheese with fig jam and bacon. Twist our arms why don't ya. The owner was very friendly and gave us some cheese to try as well. Looking forward to coming back in before dinner parties to stock up. High recommend if you're walking around the village. read more

This place is a true gem. Seriously. Go and buy some cheese. They have hard-to-find items to compliment your cheese, including different very unique high-quality salumi. So many great cheeses to try with a knowledgeable staff. Even grilled cheese if you are craving it. It's also so adorable inside - so much love put into it. Cozy and warm and filled with everything that dreams are made of if you're a cheese lover. They offer cheese platters and graze boards for events, but are also open for regular retail hours if you want to make your own. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. read more

An absolute hidden gem in babylon! They have an enormous cheese selection and the staff is extremely knowledgeable with all options they carry. I was so impressed with all the amazing products they also carry, such as honey, spreads, crackers etc! They offer tons of options for cheese platters and my favorite thing of all, they offer grilled cheeses! Grilled cheeses are one of my favorite food and I was so happy to stumble upon all the cool options they had. They just released breakfast grilled cheeses so we had to try those and boy, they were delicious. 10/10 would recommend this place as they have SO much to offer! read more

The first time trying this place was about a year ago and I was amazed at not only the huge array of cheeses on display but also how incredibly knowledgeable the staff was about their product. I spoke with a woman who works in the shop who specifically studied and is certified in cheese making and cheese chemistry ( Mind-blown!!!) Tip; if you enjoy learning about where your cheese and meats come from, 100% Go to this place!!!! While this place is pretty far from me, I happened to get another taste of it again at a recent event I had with a local company, and now I know I will be a frequent shopper making road trips here! The cheese platter was absolutely stunning and everything tasted so fresh and flavorful!!!! Their platters are actually HUGE for the price, so you will always get your money's worth on catering orders. Another tip: if you ever go into the shop.. just please try the Prima Donna Gouda Cheese. Just do it, you will not regret it!! Overall, the shop, service, and quality of the meats and cheeses are absolutely 100% high quality! go check the out read more

I love this place. There are so many different cheeses I haven't heard of and it smells so nice every time I go inside. The staff is so nice and isn't over my shoulder when I check all the cheeses out. I had tried the Guinness cheese and it was DELICIOUS. I want to go in and try more cheese and have them for parties and such. I definitely recommend this place to get a different cheese. read more

Overdue review I was obsessed in finding a caterer that did 'grazing tables' out in LI for my 50th Bday. I was very lucky to find Babylon Cheese. While the grazing table was unavailable my party day, the platters they made for me in lieu, were absolutely incredible. My experience with Jessica, was just amazing - from the day I came in to plan my platters, up to the point she came to deliver them on party day. She sat with me on planning day for over an hour, picking and choosing cheeses and accompaniments. She was so helpful, and made the very overwhelming task for me, super fun and easy. The platters were just stunning, and a hit with my party guests...I live 30 mins away, but they have a customer for life. Classy little gourmet shop...pls open another one in Nassau!! It was an extremely cold day today when we meandered into this quaint little store in the village. We were grateful for the heat but even more so for the warm friendly smiles & hellos that greeted us. There was a nice array of cheeses but I was surprised to see many other items were available. They had Cornichons, Jams, Crackers, & more even a favorite of mines Duck Rilletes! I settled on the Humboldt Fog, which was stronger & more tangy but creamy on the tongue. Stevie got the Drunken Goat which was firm but creamy. Both delicious! We were able to taste many cheeses until we found the ones we wanted. Nicole was extremely helpful in this process. As we were about to leave we noticed Nicole was wrapping up some Prosciutto. So she gave us a taste. It was not aged long so it was sweet, mild & not as salty as older Prosciutto. Quite delicious! Yes we took some of that also. Wonderful experience. That's what shopping small businesses are all about. It should be an experience not just a transaction. On our way out Nicole recommended that we go next door for some wine. Now that's great small business etiquette! Thanks Nicole! 2-13-2016 read more

Soooo amazinggggggg! I've almost tried every grilled cheese so far. Never disappoints. One of my favorite ways to treat myself

If you love cheese, or even kind of like cheese, this is the place you want to go. They have a great selection of not only cheeses, but breads, meats, and anything else you'd need to make an amazing cheese platter. They have cheese in every price range and their staff has more cheese knowledge than any place I've ever been. Plus they make INCREDIBLE grilled cheese in house (which is a must try). Staff: They are incredible and patient. You can go in with zero cheese knowledge and learn everything you need to know. They give recommendations based on other things you like and even let you try the cheese before you buy. Products: The quality of their products is awesome. They have a Napolitana dried cured sausage which has become a staple in my house. They have a great variety of cheese and meats for even the most diverse cheese boards. We even picked up the elusive guanciale on our last visit. Classes: They now offer classes from Cheese Plate 101 to Pasta Party (for 6-10 people). I haven't attended one yet, but it's on my list. Overall Impression: I adore this place. Great food, great staff, fun environment. read more

Babylon Cheese Cellar - Brie and fig jam grilled cheese with a glass bottle coke. Delicious - Cheese Shops Near Me - Babylon, New York

One of the things that I love in life the most is cheese. Cheese + wine = perfection. They have a wonderful selection here, and lots to sample out front. If you want to try something else you see in the case, they will gladly cut the cheese for you and allow you to sample it. Yes, I'm aware I used "cut the cheese". I like cheesy humor. Okay, okay - I'll stop now. They have a very knowledgeable staff here if you want to talk cheese. I always get the gruyere, yum! They don't carry Emmentaler, but that's okay - the delicious gruyere makes up for that. Additionally, they sell olive oils, jams, little snack crackers and the like. The sandwich board outside has bore the slogan "Sweet dreams are made of cheese, who am I to dis a brie" for a few months. It's cute, but it's been the same for awhile so I think they should update it. May I suggest..."The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese" or "Cheese always a woman to mascarpone". Hmm...that didn't make much sense. Perhaps...."The Manchego of La Mancha looks so gouda in bleu (cheese). Alright, alright...I'll Swiss...err, I mean, stop. read more

So cute in there, but their grilled cheeses lowkey suck I wanna like them so badly but they're so painfully average

Attention all cheese heads! Get your butts in here STAT. This shop has been here for quite some time but I've always dipped around it due to their lack of seating and wine, however, you can totally still enjoy the hell out of what this place has to offer in the confines of your own home or a friends ... Bring your own wine ;) .. Ok ok so it's a cute little place .. Much like you would expect in babylon.. Nestled up right next to solo and molto vino... They have ridiculously aged diverse cheeses in here, don't fret though bc the chick working inside will help you find what you're looking for and even let you taste some if you are on the fence... Primadonna and beemster were just what I was looking for and my parents loved them as well.. I love the salt crystals in the cheese, so amazing. I also highly recommend the fig jam, it is So good! I actually ate it with my eggs .. Yum! This cheese doesn't really go bad which is the best bc it's so rich and well aged.. You don't need a ton of it either as the richness hangs around in your palate .. Pair it with a nice, rich, aged wine... And maybe even a nice, rich, aged man... LOL.. Kudos to the cute, preggers chick in here she def put up with me being Whiney as all hell I think she knew I was hungry, prob why I got samples... She sensed it lol.... Love this place! read more

Is it weird how much time I spent in this cheese shop?? I grew up in the area but since moving out of state about 10 years ago, don't really spend time exploring the new local places when I'm in town. So glad my husband noticed this place and suggested we drop in. The selection is superb, like a proper European cheese shop. The samples are ample and varied. And the owner and staff were so knowledgeable and seriously passionate about good cheese and their pairings. Their cheeseboards look stunning and I'll have to order one someday. As we were waiting for our cheese to be wrapped, some teens came in (unusual, not really your typical teenage scene right?) and ordered some grilled cheeses. Say what?? Did not even notice the giant menu boards focused as I was on all the beautiful cheese in the cases. Uh yes please. The woman kept apologizing that it was taking a long time to get the cheeses perfectly melted. We were in no rush, and clearly you can't rush perfection. WTH I could have died and smothered myself in my sandwich right there and been totally cool with that. Can't wait to go back. read more

Once you enter this store you will have a hard time not buying everything in sight. They have such a beautiful display of cheeses, speciality meats, nuts, etc. the staff is extremely kind, knowledgeable and takes their time helping you with a selection, which is perfect for me because I'm extremely indecisive because I love all cheeses. They also offer classes for $20 on Wednesday-Saturday nights for learning the proper way to cheese plate, tastings etc. you can bring a bottle of wine as well during the tasting. read more

Lots of cheese, but don't let that fool you. Two things right off the bat. While I was waiting to be helped, I noticed the owner preparing meats and cheese without gloves. Not for nothing, but there was a sink right there in front of her. They did have a great selection of cheeses, but their so called "fresh mozzarella" was anything but that. I'm wondering how long it was exactly sitting in their fridge. Rethink your next trip to the Babylon Cheese Cellar, you might have better luck at Whole Foods or Stop and Shop. read more

I stopped in on whim to find some mozzarella to use for making mozzarella sticks.  I was told that, although they have mozzarella, it wouldn't work well for making mozzarella sticks, because of the moisture content.  I love the honesty! I would have just grabbed a slab of cheese, only to be disappointed later. It didn't matter though, because I ended up buying several other cheeses - mainly because they smartly put out samples of everything!  Each time that I thought that I found one that I liked, I tried another one, and added that to my order. The person working was very knowledgeable, and I just loved the setup of the shop: very pleasing to the eye with smart display choices.  I'll definitely visit again! read more

While my family of 15 just ate lunch next door , we decided to go next door and purchase cheese , while waiting outside because clearly 15 people can not fit in the store a teenager probably working for minimum wage walks outside to rudely say we can not wait outside it's for customers only, which we indeed were customers waiting for our family member to complete the purchase , she then proceeded to give us dirty looks while we are waiting. Such a shame. A small business that needs business during a pandemic should be grateful for any business. VICKI was her name rude as can be. read more

This store opened up in Babylon Village right before Christmas 2011. They are expensive but it's worth the money so I don't stop in all that often. The owner knows his cheese and will offer you a tasting of anything you consider purchasing, in general he's very nice and will give you a tasting even if you don't buy. You can still buy some cheese and pay less if you opt to get 1/4 of a pound of a certain cheese, and you can share 1/4 pound between 2 or 3 people. They have fresh mozzarella available and it's usually $5 which I think is cheaper then some supermarkets. This is a great store and I hope it stays open so I can come here for many years. read more
