Had the crab poutine and while massive it tasted old and fishy. Ordered the French onion burger and while also big, the meat tasted expired. I was sincerely worried that I would get sick later (so far it's the day after and I'm fine). The optional ceasar salad upgrade was delicious though. Server was great and super friendly. The staff was quick to correct this, so I am presuming it was just a strange accident and not something that occurs frequently.

They were able to sub with Swiss Cheese, but I wish they offered a classic Swiss cheese and mushroom burger, or elevated it with aioli. These options were only available with the Bison burger. The regular burger was tasty and moist as usual, but I probably had 2 days' worth of calories in the one meal - my own fault. I was hungry. There was an abundance of fried onion straws - too much actually, so I removed quite a lot to my plate. Next time, I will stick with the classic burger. Service was fair - our server seemed to have the majority of tables in another section and out of view. We were her only table on the one side, so it was a bit difficult to get her attention. Atmosphere and decor was good. Over the years, I've been disappointed that Turtle Jack's in general has changed and reduced their classic menu choices. I used to love their Apple Brie Burger with special sauces, bruschetta with reduced balsamic vinaigrette, and brunch menu. I'm sure it was more labour-intensive so I get it, but it was the reason that this restaurant stood out from the rest in its early years. I will try their dusted chicken wings again in the future. I have seen other reviews where they changed their recipe, so I hope that they didn't alter a good product.

We started with the Broccoli Cheese Poppers, which we've ordered at other spots before since they're usually vegetarian-friendly (my wife is pescatarian). I thought they were really tasty, but unfortunately my wife had almost finished one before realizing there was bacon inside...and it wasn't listed on the menu. When we asked to confirm, it was pretty disappointing. She was understandably upset, especially since she's been pescatarian for over 10 years. It would've gone a long way if they at least took it off the bill, but they didn't, and that definitely hurt the overall experience. For mains, I ordered JJ's Meatloaf; really solid dish. The mashed potatoes were a highlight, veggies were cooked nicely, and everything had great flavour. Only downside was the bun that came with it got pretty soggy. The wings were plump and juicy- mine were lightly dusted/battered so had a bit of a fried chicken feel, which I loved! I got dill flavour, and ranch dip. Hubby had a very tasty lager, and it was just the perfect patio lunch! Will definitely return- total neighbourhood gem!

I observed a manager apologize to some people at a nearby table for the slow service, but we never received a similar (or any) apology. Our toddler is ordinarily very well behaved in public, but he sat in his high-chair for so long that he started to wail. Regarding the food, when it actually arrived, the portions were really small for the prices they are charging. I could have probably cooked something that tasted better at home, and I'm definitely no chef. Overall the place feels very grungy. This was our first time here and we decided that we're not going to be coming back.
