We checked out JJ's on the Docks, a nice little diner right by the water with a bit of an east coast vibe. Great location and a relaxed atmosphere overall. For drinks, my wife and I each grabbed a bottle of Rickard's. They serve it in a frosted glass which is a nice touch, but... the price was pretty wild. Paying around $9-$11 for a bottle/can felt a bit excessive. We started with the Broccoli Cheese Poppers, which we've ordered at other spots before since they're usually vegetarian-friendly (my wife is pescatarian). I thought they were really tasty, but unfortunately my wife had almost finished one before realizing there was bacon inside...and it wasn't listed on the menu. When we asked to confirm, it was pretty disappointing. She was understandably upset, especially since she's been pescatarian for over 10 years. It would've gone a long way if they at least took it off the bill, but they didn't, and that definitely hurt the overall experience. For mains, I ordered JJ's Meatloaf; really solid dish. The mashed potatoes were a highlight, veggies were cooked nicely, and everything had great flavour. Only downside was the bun that came with it got pretty soggy. My wife ordered the Grilled Fish Panini; she liked it, not amazing, but good. The fish was fresh and flaky, and the bread had a nice garlic bread vibe. Overall, it's a decent spot with good food and a nice setting, but the beer prices and the issue with the unlisted bacon definitely took away from the experience. JJ's is a pretty typical small town restaurant. Nice view of the dock, has a nice little patio for the nicer days. Unfortunately this weekend was still a little too windy and chilly to sit outside so we got a seat inside by the window instead. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered a clubhouse sandwich with fries. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and tasted great. The clubhouse was quite stacked so it was pretty filling. Visited Grimsby to see the fall leaves and decided to eat here for dinner. As soon as we got there, the staff was very warm and welcoming We got the petite corner meat loaf meal which comes with a slice of meat loaf, frozen veggies and mashed potato. The meat loaf was drier than I anticipated, but the mashed potatoes were one of the highlights! It was very creamy and tasty. We also got the roast beef dinner. It came with Yorkshire pudding, veggies and the same mashed potatoes. We got the beef medium rare but I recommend you get medium as the meat was too rare/chewy to be cut into properly. It also lacked seasoning, and we didn't realize there were seasoning packets and bottles on the table that could be used for our food. Lastly, the coconut cream pie is apparently well known at this restaurant, so I had to try it. It was delicious and had a strong coconut flavour. read more

We stopped in to grab breakfast on our way to Toronto. There was no one seated inside so we sat by the window. The cups had paper straws which I thought was cute and also it's good for the environment. As we looked at the menu we overheard two of the waitresses were discussing issues about the boss loudly in the restaurant. Now we like to hear a bit of drama but we heard throughout our entire meal as well. The food wasn't served warm at all. I ordered a side of eggs and they were cold. The french toast which tasted really great, weren't warm either. They literally could've used 2 minutes in the microwave or something. But I don't send food back, so we ate it and it still was good. They just would've been great if they were freshly brought to us after making. The restaurant has great potential but with professionalism of the staff and the lack of serving warm food it will remain just good. read more

When to JJ's for the first time. Fantastic Fish 'n Chips. Great waitress and atmosphere. Would definitely go there again.

Great food and amazing fish and chips. BUT: I would advise the restaurant to do better on their COVID-measures. This review is really for those who are looking for restaurants during the pandemic. The man at the front (could be the owner) who was inside and who took down our name, had NO mask on. Two other wait staff inside also had no mask. Poor measures but good food. Hope the staff sees this so they improve. read more

We had a family brunch at JJ's. 6 adults, 5 kids. They accommodated us well and the food came out quickly and it was delicious. I had the Eggs Benedict with home fries and it was yummy. Service was excellent and we had a room almost to ourselves even though the restaurant was fairly full. The experience was enjoyable and I recommend JJ's with no hesitation. read more

Newly built, JJ's is bright, clean, well priced and has friendly staff. There is a cute patio (not on the water, but the restaurant is accessible via boat). We went at lunch time. I ordered from "all day breakfast" menu. My friends ordered a burger and and omelette. The food arrived quickly and was fresh with neat presentation. My meal was simple, and overall everyone was happy with their food. I would say the food was brilliant, but was enjoyable. 2 egg meal was $6. 99 during the week. Hard to beat. Would be very happy to go again. If they would do a little more to differentiate themselves on the menu, then I would say they have a real winner here! read more

My dad and I are fish and chips fanatics and this was one of the tastiest fish and chips we have had! If you're debating whether to get the coconut cream pie, just add it to your order. One of the best decisions I've made. On one takeout visit the gravy was missing and the owner personally called me within minutes and offered to hand deliver it to us. We stopped over at this new restaurant for a dinner. We had fish&chips and baby beef liver. They were delicious and tasted so fresh. I liked the crispiness of fish&chips and falvours of beef liver! Great spot! We stopped for lunch on our way to Toronto. Service was very friendly and food came quickly, freshly prepared and very good.

This place is a real hidden gem. Right on the water this place is family owed and makes a mean breakfast. I live in Toronto and Randomly stumbled upon JJs a few Months back on my way to Niagara Falls. I'm here again now as I made a point to stop here again for a fantastic breaky. John the owner is a real nice guy and makes sure his patrons are well looked after. I heard the coconut lime pie is out of this world and I will be back on Sunday on my way back to Toronto to try it. Definitely a must try if on your way to Niagara! read more
