Met up with cousins and their kids over at the Ship. Didn't think it was kid friendly but indeed it was. The place was quaint and casual, food was amaaaaazing. Ordered the fried perch which was seasoned amazingly! Sweet potato fries and the crab poutine which I did not think I would like but it was soooooo good and flavors were unexpected. Service was quick and my daughter and niece were pleased also with everything. Will definitely come back to Hamilton just to eat here

The French fries paired with their dill dip are absolute perfection drool-worthy, to say the least! Prompt and efficient service made the experience even better. It had rained the day we went and while indoor dining was bustling, we chose to sit outside on the patio, which was empty on arrival. Tables and chairs were wet but the weather changed and the sun shone again, drying up the area. We ordered several appetizers to share; bang bang shrimp (yummy), soup dumplings (yummy), spinach and artichoke dip (mediocre - have had better), sweet potato and regular fries plus dips (both very good) and dragon boat lettuce wraps (the crispy noodle and chicken with hoisin sauce and cashews was delicious and my favourite but the lettuce leaves had spoiled spots and seemed not to be thoroughly washed). I took the liberty of cleaning the lettuce before eating it. We also received dirty plates but bringing this to our server's attention quickly remedied the problem. Besides these minute concerns, the food and service and company were great! The patio filled up quite fast shortly after we placed our order and received our food. Arriving before dinnertime surely worked in our favour!

I observed a manager apologize to some people at a nearby table for the slow service, but we never received a similar (or any) apology. Our toddler is ordinarily very well behaved in public, but he sat in his high-chair for so long that he started to wail. Regarding the food, when it actually arrived, the portions were really small for the prices they are charging. I could have probably cooked something that tasted better at home, and I'm definitely no chef. Overall the place feels very grungy. This was our first time here and we decided that we're not going to be coming back.

My limbs, hands, nose, etc. were ice cold 30min into our dining experience. I could have used a heated blanket or snow suit to dine this place. We brought it up to staff and they basically brushed it off and said they were hot so "too bad." Ordered oysters and they came out completely submerged underwater. No joke, my oysters were floating in a pool. I think they let them sit in the kitchen for a while before they came out. Considered asking for a fresh order (and they offered) but was worried they would just replate them. Asked for them to be removed from the bill. Not in any hurry to come back... like anytime in the next 8-10yrs. If there was a manger around (never saw one - bunch of kids working), maybe it would be better? Who is the adult in charge at this place? Don't waste your time or money. I hope I don't have the double dragon tonight when I get home.
