Overall the diner is setup like a typical, simple, breakfast diner, but they have The Flintstones playing on the TVs. There's lots of seating, so I have never had to wait. Really enjoyed this breakfast joint! I loved the fries ! They seasoned it with a type of seasoning similar to Cajun. The size of the original breakfast is large and perfect with 2 toast, 2 eggs, choice of sausage, ham or bacon and fried. I chose sausage. I don't remember any of my party finishing their breakfast but everyone left extremely satisfied. The food took some time to come out but I believe it's because they waited for all the dishes to be ready before serving my party of 7 which was also nice. This place feels more like a diner than a bistro. I like how they have the flintstones playing on the tv. The inside is quite outdated and run down looking. The parking is very limited, theres a few spots in the front and the back has some more. On the weekends, they are very busy. Everyone seems to come here for breakfast. This restaurant is an establishment in the East End of Hamilton for years, even though it is a Flintstone's themed restaurant with outdated decor. Besides the tacky furniture, old toys, and constant loop of Flintstone episodes while you eat, I think people who have eaten here have a soft place in their heart for it because of their food. Of course, a place like this wont serve your gourmet food, but what they do serve you is a massive amount of greasy, yet delicious, food at a reasonable price. Sundays and Saturdays must be their busiest days of the week because people in search of a good cure for a hang over line up to be served their fix. I have personally waited something stupid like 30 mins to be seated on a weekend, so that must mean they are doing something right. This place has made a name for themselves on their breakfasts, which are my favourite by far. I ALWAYS eat Fred's Feast, it could be 7pm and i will always eat their breakfast, because its just that good. My memory on the details of the breakfast are a little faint at this moment because ive been away from home for a few years, but you receive a dino sized meal for a good price, somewhere around $6.50. I can remember being absolutley stuffed with eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, toast, and homefries - which are astounding. If you are ever in the area and in need for a massive portion of food for a reasonable price and you are one who can over look the decor and the shabby servers, then come here and enjoy a breakfast. Great spot for a casual breakfast with friends/family. Dined with 3 on a Sunday morning around 10 am. The wait to get a table was minimal and understandable. The hostess was obviously flustered but was very pleasant to speak with. We all ordered the classic breakfast with 2 eggs, side meat, toast, and home fries. One guest was a vegetarian and a simple switch to tomato slices was accommodated. The server made a mistake in the type of toast one guest had asked for but we didn't mind and she was able to laugh it off, making the experience feel more authentic and less rehearsed. Drove by this place one evening and decided to try it the next time we had a hankering for breakfast. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday and the place was packed. Wait time was around 15-20 mins and the lineup was through the foyer door. Once seated the waitress took our orders and was back with our coffees in under 2 minutes. Added cream and sugar to my coffee, took one sip and our breakfast arrived! It was ridiculously fast. The restaurant is also very child friendly as they have high chairs. I always dread getting my chips and finding it soft. Today was a good day! Chips were on point- nice and crispy! The batter didn't over power the fish. I fully tasted the fish! I thought fish and chips came with coleslaw though?? That would've been awesome. Hubby got the seafood platter. It also tasted good and not too crazy geasy. Took and bit of time to get our order. I wish I had taken a picture of the meal I just received!! Absolutely disgusting I ordered a classic breakfast with eggs over easy and a pancake on the side. The eggs were runny with white and clear slime not to mention yolk all over everything on my plate. It was like a pile of breakfast blender food. My daughter ordered deep fried pickles and they were very rubbery. The waitress brought over the pancake after every one was done with their plates and napkins ontop of the plates. I told her I didn't want it now because my family was done eating. I told her that I wasn't happy with my food and she was very rude and offered to take my husband's pop off the bill.. the pop wasn't the problem. He enjoyed his pop. After 10 minutes of back and forth, she gave me a small discount off the breakfast but charged me full price for the pancake I didn't get. It's usually not that bad. I first came to this place and would have given 4 stars my first time but after repeated visits my experiences have declined. A few issues I'd like to present include... they will charge you for hot water... $1.00 I don't agree with this but i paid for it regardless. The food was much better the first time I came (maybe a different cook?) this time around the pancakes were baaaaad. Almost as if the batter wasn't properly mixed. The taste was very starchy and dry. Driven forth by the hungover need for brunch, and the crazy drunken antics of an individual who hadn't slept yet, a friend of mine and I ventured on a futile journey of locating a breakfast place that would actually be open on New Years Day. Luckily, she knew of a place. Perhaps it was the dust in my brain that was making a burning sensation with every synapse that fired, or maybe I was just simply tired, but I didn't even notice until we sat down and had our coffees in front of us that the room was full of Flintstones memorabilia. That's right. Stuffed to the tits full of this shit. "What sort of HELLISH nightmare IS this?!" I exclaimed. My partner then motioned towards the televisions posted around the room. From my vantage point, there were at least 8 TVs on, each playing a different episode of the Flintstones. Try as I might to focus on my brunch partner, I could not help avoid the lure of the closed captioned TVs, and soon found my eyes wandering away from the conversation and into trying to figure out the plot of each episode as they played on the myriad of tantalizing technicolour terrors around us. "Soon. Soon!" I thought, "I can leave this place" and continued to eat my food. The food was fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and the coffee (while sub-par to what this coffee snob normally drinks) was decent enough. The service left much to be desired, but it was New Years Day, wtf was I expecting? At last, the food was done, and the nightmare was soon to be over! Just then, my partner reminded me that we'd agreed to buying western sandwiches for everyone back at the party pad. We have been to the Bedrock Bistro multiple times, and have rarely been disappointed. The theming is neither as hokey or omnipresent as you might think. The menu is about as middle of the road as you can get- hmm maybe the food options are a subtle parody of 1960s America, just like its decor theme - but the food is well portioned, tasty, and reasonably priced. My daughter regularly goes for the chicken nuggets (previously these were actually dinosaur-shaped, but alas not recently), and their club sandwich is good too. The steaks tend to be flank, but what did you expect for $15? Special mention of the salad bar: it's bare bones (Tucker's Marketplace or the Mandarin it is not). However, its very existence is a plus and it's something you rarely find around here. Washrooms are decent. Decor has been updated since the Flintstones era (both the TV and the "real" versions). All in all a nice unpretentious place for a family meal. read more

Some mornings I'm lazy to make breakfast, so my other option is going to a restaurant - obviously! It's a casual place, you know, you don't have to dress up but doesn't mean you have to wear a full pjs or onesies either (although sometimes I think about it). It's a decent place for a brunch, nothing special compared to Cora or Wimpy. My favourite breakfast/brunch is strawberry crepes, even though they serve 3 pcs of crepes, but they're thin. It's not the type of crepes offered at Cora's. Well, it's not their breakfast specialty which is fine. I really enjoy going here for a brunch. It might take 10-15 minutes on average to wait for a table. Don't fear my friend, you will get your food about 5-10 minutes after ordering. Plus, their coffee is great! Bedrock has quality control issues and a big problem with their atmosphere. Even I'm the winter it feels like they run their AC and it's freezing cold inside. Really hard to be comfortable while you're shivering and eating. The place is usually always busy. Not sure why as the food is not that impressive. Homefries were good my first visit, consecutive visits the fries did not taste good. The staff is generally nice, but some do have some attitude problems. I received no compensation for the fact that the coleslaw I ordered with my meal was clearly past its expiration date. Even the lettuce on my sandwich smelled off and was very brown and wilted. Overall I would not recommend the Bedrock to anyone looking for a quality place to eat. read more

I frequent this place often and I do so because they have the best steak for steak and eggs. Their other food lacks in more then one department.. its average, nothing there is a wow factor other then their steak (witch is mouth watering). The server.. well ... haha let's just say it's a hit or miss. They do have amazing people that work there however they have a couple people that work for them that are just miserable and are not there to accommodate your needs or make your experience there great! I had an Incident there a short time ago, I was there with some friends, one friend of mine had ordered a BLT and the toast was over cooked for her liking, while at this point our waitress for some reason was no longer talking to us (being completely rude) When it came to the bill we had brought up our issues with the BLT we were than told it was in fact not over done and they were doing nothing about the issue. We had to speak with the manager (it went that far) Witch sided with us and took the BLT off the bill that was over 100$. It wasn't like it was a small bill to begin with. Great breakfast place, but very busy as a result. First time we went in on a weekend, and so had a 15 minute wait for a seat. They seem to turn tables over fairly quickly, but it gets quite packed in the little alcove at the front. The second time was mid-week and even then the place was hopping (though a seat for 2 came up almost right away). One of the best breakfast places in the area. Good selection, large portions. I will agree that the whole idea of mixing Flintstones with a breakfast joint is pretty odd, I don't think it takes much away from the experience. We have three kids 4 years old and under (twin 4 year old boys and a 2 year old boy). The many TV's around playing continuous Flintstone cartoons seems out of place, they are cartoons, and cartoons keep our kids attention. So, that's a win in my books. We've been here twice for breakfast so far. The food was great and came way faster than I thought would be possible. The portions were decent and the price was reasonable. Went to this place about a year ago on the recommendation of a friend. Had breakfast with my brother, father and a friend and we didn't wait long to be seated, The place was a little loud and it took a while for the food to be served, but it was worth the wait. The breakfast I ordered was very good and portions were huge which meant no one left hungry. I had so much that I shared with my brother cause I didn't need to eat that much. Atmosphere was a little tacky, but that was easily overlooked because of the quality of the grub. Don't believe the hype. Let me paint you a picture of the bedrock bistro: the first thing that hits you when you walk in is the musty smell of a carpet that has not been cleaned since heavy smoking was commonplace in restaurants. Once your eyes adjust to the dim lights you realize that the carpets match the drapes, so to speak. The decor is sometimes described as "nostalgic" but the truth is it's clear that the management has simply not invested in the fittings for decades. The overall effect is dingy and gross, but that's OK because it sets the stage for the food. The menu is cheap and the sleeves look about as old and tired as the decor. Poorly cut out printed slips stuffed into plastic sleeves inform you of the specials. The selection is wide, but unimaginative and staid. Another thing not changed since the 70s. Dining were my wife, my 2 young children and me. The few wait staff were clearly exasperated and overworked, several times forgetting things we asked for. But I won't speak of them here, they are clearly poorly managed in a crappy environment, trying to do their best. I ordered a steak, with fries. The steak came with veggies and a big pile of fries. The veggies were brutally over-salted and limp and soggy. I can't be sure but there may also have been sugar added, The fries were clearly low-quality frozen-to-fried and greasy, and unseasoned. I found the salt missing from the fries on my steak, I actually crunched through large salt grains in my first bite. Over-salted is an understatement as combined with the veggies it would have constituted a lethal dose of sodium. Good thing it was about 50% gristle and virtually inedible. $18! My wife ordered the fish and chips. Same awful fries that manage to be soggy and greasy all at once. 2 large pieces of fish that turned out to have a ton of heavy floury batter that soaked up the oil and made the fish disgustingly greasy. Wife could not even get half way through. The garlic bread with cheese app was, you guessed it, soggy and greasy and so heavy 2 bites was enough. Kid #1 had cream of carrot soup. It was very heavy, either butter or cream so thick that a few spoonfuls was all we could give her. Any more would have been child abuse. Kid #2 had a Quesadilla, which they ALSO somehow managed to make soggy, greasy and heavy. Also came with the terrible fries that they pile on plates like if quantity makes up for quality... About 15% of the food served was eaten. My wife took the kids to the car while I waited to complain. When the waitress came by with the water for the kids (that we had asked for 30 minutes ago) I let her know we were done. SHE at least seemed to care that we had a bad experience and took our dishes to the manager and explained our displeasure. The manager let her give us a 10% seniors discount. TEN PERCENT. Slightly less than the total amount of food eaten. This place might have a good breakfast that they lean on, but the dinner was simply disgusting. Someone there clued in that a particular type of clientele does not care about the quality of the food so long as its super fatty, super salty and there is lots of it. $50 in the crapper. Including the ridiculous discount. These people need a wake-up call. read more

There appears to be an all day breakfast and the homefries are amazing. The are covered in seasoning and were delicious. The philly cheese steak sandwich was also very flavourful. I ordered the chicken club wrap which was chicken breast, bacon, tomato lettuce and something refereed to as "zesty sauce" wrapped in a tortilla. Sounded great however I was a little disappointed with the "zesty sauce" as I'm about 99% sure it was mayo. I was hoping for something with a little more zest to it. I opted for the side salad which again I was disappointed to see was clearly bagged salad. For a place that boasts having a salad bar i was expecting something a little fresher and nicer. My lunch mate ordered the Brontosaurus Burger and while it lives up to the description (this thing is HUGE) the taste of the meat itself was a let down. If you are going to have a burger this large and want it to be anything more than a novelty item you really need to make sure your meat is seasoned well and this fell short of the mark. Don't get me wrong it wasn't terrible but it really could have been better. This place boasts a lot of regulars. At least 4 of the tables around us were full of older people who all had a good rapport with the wait staff. I how we found the them to be grumpy and slightly unpleasant. Try it or don't. Breakfast food is the quintessential to starting your day off right. The food is good don't get me wrong, its on par with breakfast food in general. It's not that hard to fuck up. I feel for the people working in the front and the back when Sharron and her 15 friends decide to come in for a breakfast party after their stupid tupperwear and Jackson Triggs party and expect to be seated immediately.
