Initial table Service was slow. Drinks took a minute. Smash burger was cooked beyond recognition . Disappointing. Second poorest margarita I've had this week. Afraid I can't recommend beyond dropping in for a beverage. read more

We were in the neighbourhood (tbh, for another place that said they were open and were not ) and saw that One Duke was open, had room, and we always wanted to try it so away we went. Lovely patio with shade (it was 30+) and we were fixing our table number and how everything works. You go to get a disposable menu, order at the window, and a delightful server comes to your table with your food. We had the oysters, and chicken wings (not pictured. Ate too fast). The wings were plump and juicy- mine were lightly dusted/battered so had a bit of a fried chicken feel, which I loved! I got dill flavour, and ranch dip. Hubby had a very tasty lager, and it was just the perfect patio lunch! Will definitely return- total neighbourhood gem! read more

Ambience and Food is awesome. Staff are very friendly and patio is excellent on a hot summer day! Always look forward to going!!!

They decided to come out with a new menu and I specifically went in for one of their new dishes... They "didn't make" goat cheese balls ...this is 3:30 PM on a Friday!! This place is aggressively overpriced, I was gonna give them a chance with this new menu because I'm a vegetarian and they had a couple of new options... I left having only one cocktail - on an empty stomach read more

Went in for drinks with friends, ordered pasta (my favorite thing at restaurants). Was shocked when the pasta arrived, looked like they had made a child. Where's the rest of it? This is the problem... -$18.50 for a child size portion -and ultimately at a pub, you should get pub size portion food bizarre read more

Hey, this is one of the most inviting restaurant/bar in the #HamOnt core. The waitresses give bright smiles on arrival & always remember your name! Food tastes great & so good you may need to head home & nap! I jest but One Duke is a one of a kind place that you need to visit and relax while having a good meal on their patio! Have a chance to try it out, you won't be disappointed! Kimberly Robyn read more

I've tired plenty of things from here and they all were delicious. My favourite is the oysters or the wings they got some great toppings for the oysters and great flavours for the wings. Everything else you'll get will also be good. Great drinks also. Servers are great and very kind and pleasing and the ambiance is of a bar. Got some spots with a couch and TVs all around to watch. Got some spots at the high chairs and table as well as the bar. Food comes out quickly and I was never disappointed! Can't wait to go back, crave those oysters almost everyday read more

This place has really hit rock bottom. My friends and I stopped in for some half price wings and quick beer. The service took over an hour to get 4 pounds of wings. The server felt bad that she made us wait so long that they gave us a free pound of wings. When the wings came out they were uncooked. We asked for the waiter to comp the uncooked wings and after making a call to the manager they stated that she couldn't comp our meals. I then asked her if she would eat the wings she served us and she flat out said no but was still going to charge us for them. She continued to let us know that the reason they're uncooked is because they're frozen which is a whole other can of worms. I know the wings were half price but I still wouldn't like to pay for salmonella poisoning. If I could give this place a zero star I would. Hamilton has some amazing spots, this one is definitely not one of them. read more

I randomly chose this restaurant with 4 of my other colleagues as it's close to where we worked, and it surprised me! The food was pretty good and all of us were very satisfied. I ordered the fish burger with the duke salad. Both the quantity and quality were great! I liked it. The only thing was the waiting time was a bit too long, way longer than what we expected. read more

Staff were so kind and accommodating. I had a lot of questions and they patiently addressed them all. Thank you for be so understanding!

Just called a few minutes ago to place an order. Who ever answered the phone was the SNOTTIEST person ever!!! I was going to be a first time customer and I love to support local businesses, especially during these times. However I will not tolerate rude, snotty ppl... ordered somewhere else. read more

Is this a pub? is this an Italian restaurant? We went for a friend's birthday & I was really expecting a pub... It was a pleasant surprise when I looked at the menu. They had a beat salad that big enough to share and I had the pizza as my main. Everyone seemed pleased with their selections. My friend's veal sandwich was delayed so the waitress comped it which was nice. (The restaurant was super packed and we had a big party so I guess it was forgotten?) It was affordable, I guess we are used to Toronto prices maybe? **if you go, try the beat salad!! Lots of beats!!*** read more

This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. I have been living around the corner for about 4 months and I went today for the first time. The food was absolutely delicious! Please do yourself a favor an order the "Chicken Antojitos" I am definitely coming back for more of those. The sandwiches we ordered were really good too! The service was great! (It wasn't too busy but I like to believe that's how it is all the time) and the environment was great also! (Nice paintings on the wall) I am definitely coming back! read more

This place is hit or miss. one server is really nice, helpful, and patient. and did not smoke in fromt of customers. The rest were Rude. not helpful, and impatient. They also smoke and swear in front of guests. When a server is a pro they make the meal enjoyable. A rude or obnoxious server kind of ruins the whole experience. this place needs to be more consistant. - to bad because my first visit was great My second visit ~not so much. read more

One Duke is a Hamilton institution, boasting classic pub food with a twist, fantastic oysters and a casual yet intimate atmosphere. Situated next to a historical building ( a castle that has been converted into apartment buildings ) and a short walk from Augusta. Food is good, service is excellent. Overall One Duke is charming and dependable. read more

Super fresh and tasty Oysters. Medium flavor, a little bit salty, love it! We two had 16 oysters and still wanted more. Oysters here are not worse than the pro Ouster bars. The crab cake is also a good choice read more

Me and my girlfriend have been eating at One Duke for over 6 years now. We don't come often enough for them to recognize us as regulars but it is definitely on our short list of places we eat out at. Their smoke salmon club sandwich is delicious and so is the Ukranian dinner. I would also recommend their Bob Marley pizza which is definitely unique and is guaranteed to make you come back for more (it is on the spicy side though which may not be for everyone). Finally they offer both Delirium and Newcastle Browne Ale which are amazing beers although for different reasons. My only qualm is that the place feels a bit understaffed at times especially during patio seasons which results in long wait times. read more

I was just there tonight. The service was excellent. The setting very nice. The food was very good with a lot of selection. I had the "Polish Dinner", authentic and filling for a good price. My wife had the appetizer, Gnocchi, which she really enjoyed. Our friend had the Duke Burger which was made on site and very good as well. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting casual dining that is of good quality and value. read more

their food is incredible and worth every penny. living downtown my fiancé and i made a deal to not go to the same restaurant twice, as a way to try all the amazing food in this area.. but we've been to one duke multiple times, as just us and also with groups and no one has ever had anything but great things to say. the food and service is great- so we keep going back! read more

Came for steak here but it wasn't available today. But salmon and oysters were delicious.

Stopped in for dinner and had the perch fish and chips special. Was not good. The fish was not properly prepared at all. The fillet WITH SKIN AND BONES was fully battered and deep fried as you would a boneless skinless fillet. I did not know this and ended up with a mouth full of fish; skin, bones and all. My last visit I had the ribs. The sauce was good but the ribs themselves weren't great, alot of cartilage and not many full rib bones . I doubt I'll be back. read more

This is a very nice casual bar. I hit this place every time I am in the downtown area and in the mood for a few drinks. If you dont like tons of people this is your spot! Service isnt the greatest unless your at the bar but still notable for the number of staff. Foods good to, love the Sweet chilli Thai wings and Bob Marley Pizza! read more

We've been coming here for years and have always loved it. I believe they came under new ownership however and have changed some things on the menu. Usually a bit understaffed it seems, though servers that are there do their best. I've ordered the bob Marley pizza... a little too much cracked pepper on top. Fish tacos were very over cooked. And the curry fries no longer have goat cheese, and more of a hollandaise sauce with mixed shredded.. wouldn't recommend those. Bruschetta, antijitos, and salads are always great ! read more

Sub par food. Sub par service. Sub par decor. This place is almost always empty - for a reason. It could be awesome if they got a makeover, a different menu, and better management. read more

I'd never heard of this place but a friend suggested we try it out for lunch since it was nice and close. We went at around noon on the Saturday of a long weekend, so weren't too surprised that it was quite empty. It filled up a bit more while we were there. The waitress was pleasant enough and we took a table on the patio which offered a fair bit of seating and plenty of welcomed shade. I ordered the bowl full of chili and my friend ordered the smoked salmon sandwich with side salad. Our food came in good time, and although the chili wasn't exactly how I prefer it (slightly too sweet) it was a large bowl (I couldn't even finish half), served with a substantial amount of nachos - it also had some kick to it and was quite well done. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich, which I sampled and even though I'm not a salmon fan I enjoyed it with the combination of cream cheese and fresh cucumbers. I saw several other people with the smoked salmon sandwiches so it could be a popular menu item at One Duke. Average prices, good service, quality food - I look forward to trying it again. read more

Watered down drinks -hamburger was nothing more than a big hunk of meat -pretty sure "special sauce " was ranch dressing from a bottle -boring, overpriced won't be back. Person with me had pizza-commented that it was boring/needed spice read more

Although the service was ok. The food was disgusting . Looked and tasted like it was previously frozen then thrown in the deep fryer for too long. We won't be going back !Seems like the kind of place that locals like to hang out to drink. Even the drinks seem to be watered down. read more
