This is what 30 oysters looks like!
    Soren S.

We were in the neighbourhood (tbh, for another place that said they were open and were not ) and saw that One Duke was open, had room, and we always wanted to try it so away we went. Lovely patio with shade (it was 30+) and we were fixing our table number and how everything works. You go to get a disposable menu, order at the window, and a delightful server comes to your table with your food. We had the oysters, and chicken wings (not pictured. Ate too fast). The wings were plump and juicy- mine were lightly dusted/battered so had a bit of a fried chicken feel, which I loved! I got dill flavour, and ranch dip. Hubby had a very tasty lager, and it was just the perfect patio lunch! Will definitely return- total neighbourhood gem!

Went in for drinks with friends, ordered pasta (my favorite thing at restaurants). Was shocked when the pasta arrived, looked like they had made a child. Where's the rest of it? This is the problem... -$18.50 for a child size portion -and ultimately at a pub, you should get pub size portion food bizarre

Patio time @ One Duke today! The tagline is "Just Duke It!" & couldn't have said it better myself!

Hey, this is one of the most inviting restaurant/bar in the #HamOnt core. The waitresses give bright smiles on arrival & always remember your name! Food tastes great & so good you may need to head home & nap! I jest but One Duke is a one of a kind place that you need to visit and relax while having a good meal on their patio! Have a chance to try it out, you won't be disappointed! Kimberly Robyn

This place has really hit rock bottom. My friends and I stopped in for some half price wings and quick beer. The service took over an hour to get 4 pounds of wings. The server felt bad that she made us wait so long that they gave us a free pound of wings. When the wings came out they were uncooked. We asked for the waiter to comp the uncooked wings and after making a call to the manager they stated that she couldn't comp our meals. I then asked her if she would eat the wings she served us and she flat out said no but was still going to charge us for them. She continued to let us know that the reason they're uncooked is because they're frozen which is a whole other can of worms. I know the wings were half price but I still wouldn't like to pay for salmonella poisoning. If I could give this place a zero star I would. Hamilton has some amazing spots, this one is definitely not one of them.

I randomly chose this restaurant with 4 of my other colleagues as it's close to where we worked, and it surprised me! The food was pretty good and all of us were very satisfied. I ordered the fish burger with the duke salad. Both the quantity and quality were great! I liked it. The only thing was the waiting time was a bit too long, way longer than what we expected.

Is this a pub? is this an Italian restaurant? We went for a friend's birthday & I was really expecting a pub... It was a pleasant surprise when I looked at the menu. They had a beat salad that big enough to share and I had the pizza as my main. Everyone seemed pleased with their selections. My friend's veal sandwich was delayed so the waitress comped it which was nice. (The restaurant was super packed and we had a big party so I guess it was forgotten?) It was affordable, I guess we are used to Toronto prices maybe? **if you go, try the beat salad!! Lots of beats!!***

Great dinner with high school friends and life long friends.

Super fresh and tasty Oysters. Medium flavor, a little bit salty, love it! We two had 16 oysters and still wanted more. Oysters here are not worse than the pro Ouster bars. The crab cake is also a good choice

The only regret I have with this place is the fact that my wife and I waited two years before we came back. We were were worried that after two years the first time we were there was so awesome, with all the things that could change we wondered if it would still be good. Well, it was. We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary and we were so happy to be at Born And Raised again. The menu doesn't miss a beat. We started out with a couple of appetizers, steak tartare, and burrata done in a seasonal style with butternut squash. I thought it an odd combination but it was so amazingly good. Then our mains, I had the rigatoni with meatballs, and as a special feature item my wife had tagliatelle with braised short rib. I am always critical of Italian food given that my grandmother, mother, stepmother, wife, and mother-in-law are masters at it, but let me tell you their rigatoni with meatballs is the real deal. The sauce is amazing, pasta cooked perfectly, and meatballs were so delicious with every bite. The server was even cool about getting me some extra bread to clean up that sauce with which was an extra treat. I was able to beg for a couple of fork fulls from my wife for the tagliatelle with braised short rib, and it was so delicious. Oh yeah, and one other thing, in both cases the portions were fantastic. None of this two forkfuls thing for presentation, it tastes good, you're there to eat and eat well, and they deliver. They vibe in the place is very cool noise levels are fair, and they were playing some cool old school music when we went. All of the staff were friendly, and attentive always checking in. Can I recommend that for dessert you order their pecan pie. It's so amazingly delicious, as is the scoop of vanilla ice cream they dolloped on there. Yeah, I may have had to have put in some extra time at the gym the next day, but that kind of eating gave me high I rarely get in restaurants, and I wish the same for all of you that take this recommendation to heart. Well done to the staff of Born And Raised, and I promise it will NOT be another two years before we are back again.

However, service was friendly and our food tasted great (and visually approved by a Portuguese friend)! Without having a comparison point, it's hard for me to say whether this was "authentic" or not, but we enjoyed our food. Pricing was a little high for the paella, but it's not often that I get to try Portuguese food, so I was fine with it.

Salada Portuguesa - Comes in small or large size. Pretty nice salad with mixed greens, cucumber & tomato slices, red onion, and drizzled with olive oil vinaigrette. You can opt to add goat cheese. Mixed Seafood in Pimento-based Sauce & Garlic Bread ("special" appetizer of the day) - Large portion for an appetizer... comes in a large bowl with 2 different types of mussels, clams, scallops, tiger shrimps, and 4 large toasted garlic bread. You can ask the sauce to be non-spicy. Pao (Baked Bread) Stuffed with Cod - Best dish in the restaurant. It's quite large and best to be shared. The Pao is freshly baked, crispy on the outside and soft, tender, and very aromatic in the inside (cod mixed with garlic and other spices). It's so good that it can be a filling meal on its own when paired with salad. Bacalhau Da Casa - Cod loin is quite salty, but comes in a nice big chunk with bones. The grilled vegetables are over-cooked and very mushy. The roasted potatoes are ok. Grilled Pickerel - Portion size of all the fish and seafood dishes is quite big. This one comes in 2 large & long pieces of grilled pickerel, topped with a delicious tomato-based sauce. The seasoned rice with peas is very yummy! It also comes with grilled vegetables (zucchini, red pepper, eggplant). Arroz De Marisco - The large size comes with a good amount of shellfish and rice. It's more saucy and has more liquid / broth compared to the more mainstream Spanish paella. It's best to let the liquid / broth evaporate first (it keeps warm really well), to give time for the rice to soak in the sauce. This dish is quite flavourful and I like the mix and amount of shellfish (king crab legs, lobster, mussels, clams, black tiger shrimps, bay scallops, etc.). Dessert: Portuguese Tart topped with cinnamon & ice cream - The Portuguese tart comes out warm, with crunchy crust and soft topping. It's one of the best Portuguese tarts I've had. The cinnamon sprinkles just take it to the next level.

It's similar to taro but less starchy, and it has a slight savouriness to it that complemented the syrup and whipped cream on the French toast so well.
