We stop by there for dinner tonight and I must say everything was delicious I had gotten the shrimp platter My husband got the catfish platter with extra catfish okra and coleslaw everything was cooked fresh if I could give it a 10 star I would it's just a wonderful place we just love it,it's going to be our new place to eat dinner read more

Other locations I have eaten at were good.......however, NOT the case here! The beans were sour and the rice was hard, hush puppies also disappointed. The gator tail was good as was the garlic bread, unfortunately that was the only thing good about my dining experience. As I got up to leave my meal which I had scarcely picked over I saw at this point what sealed in stone my forever opinion of this establishment.....A GIANT 2 INCH LONG ROACH sitting across from me in the booth! This location needs to be inspected and in my opinion shut down! read more

This restaurant has been in a serious decline since it opened. I have visited this restaurant four separate times. The first time was when they first opened. They had a very large crowd, but they managed to get the food out in a timely manner. Although, it was hard to reach our server after we were served our food due to the large crowd, but in the end we had enjoyed our night, and the food was delicious.. The next time I ate from this restaurant it was delivered through Uber. I ordered the Poboy since when I went there the first time my friends who were with me said it was so good and I also ordered boiled seafood, which is also some thing else that I've never ordered myself, but I've heard good reviews for. The seafood to me had too much of a lemon taste because they left the lemons in there other than that everything else was good in the boiled seafood but the Poboy was dry and cold. The third time, I went there in person again with more friends. There was a bit of a wait for our food, even though there was only two other people other than us three in the restaurant. Once we received our order, the Boudin balls was great but the shrimp in the seafood boil seemed over cooked and mushy. The fourth time I ordered from this restaurant was again through Uber this time since I usually order these from there, I got the Boudin balls, red beans and rice and hush puppies. For starters the hush puppies were dry, and had a almost stale taste. The Boudin balls were smaller then they previously were ,they had a weird smell and they came with no sauce to dip in. It was also served with a lemon slice which go all over the bottom of 2/6 of my Boudin balls, and caused it to be very sour and soggy. The red beans and rice was a good portion, warm and tasted great as always, which is what has earned this restaurant a two stars for me...... it was originally going to get a 1 star. read more

All I've heard is about this New joint. My wife called and said, let's do Lunch. She absolutely loves crab, so I decided to get a boil and one of the platters. Crab might of been the worst we've ever eaten, and everything else was just Average @ Best. Cold Water was the highlight of the Meal. Don't waste your money! read more

The food is hot, fresh and crispy! The sauces are a complete delight! Service was prompt. And the facility was fresh and clean. I will be back! read more

The Catch - Red Beans & Rice Jumbo Shrimp Catch Fried Fish - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Denton, Texas

I was originally excited to see the Catch in Denton as good fried shrimp is one of my all time favorites. My original home town had shrimp stands aplenty. The management in Denton, though, has to get their act in order, particularly regarding the drive-thru. First of all the drive-thru menu states that baskets include Catch Fries and a Hush Puppy. What it doesn't say though is that fries are a "side", at least according to the order takers and I've had at least five over the past month or so. On my first drive-thru purchase when asked for my side selection I said coleslaw, expecting fries and coleslaw. When I arrived home I had coleslaw only. Each purchase is a new experience. Sometimes they'll ask for a sauce selection, sometimes not. Today was a perfect example of the total disarray of the ordering process. Today I ordered a 10 Jumbo Fried Shrimp basket with fries plus a small Coleslaw side. I thought that was very specific. The clerk then asked what size shrimp I wanted and whether I wanted them grilled, blackened or fried. We cleared that up but nothing was mentioned about a drink though I didn't need one. When I arrived at the window I was handed a large coke which I never ordered. Once my order was handed to me I proceeded home to find no coleslaw. It's a shame because the food is delicious. I just know they're literally turning business away with this ineptitude. read more

So good! Shrimp was tasty! Fish was perfect balance of flavorful and crispy. Hush puppies made my day. Yummy margaritas. What else could a girl ask for??? read more

Mind Blowing . Everything was amazing. Service was excellent! Seasoning of everything from rice and beans to snow crab "full house" sauce was exceptional. read more

Great seafood! Come here just to get the fried shrimp basket with their catch sauce. Great customer service every time we come.

It is a fast-food style restaurant, but the food and service were great. The catfish was seasoned well, the hush-puppies were crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside, and the fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned well. The gentleman that took our order was very polite, he made conversation and made the experience that much better. read more

Very disappointed in our first experience. My husband went to pick up some lunch and was planning just to go to drive-thru. That didn't work out due to the vast waiting line so he went inside. The music was blaring and gave him a headache. Needless to say he was not in a good mood when he got back home. I ordered a shrimp and oyster combo but there were no French fries with it as stated on the menu. The taste was ok but really soggy. My husband didn't like it at all. Really overpriced for what you get. Will be very hard to get my husband to go again. read more

New place with good catfish and shrimp. We have been a few times and it was fresh and good.

I chose the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp were VERY small and over-cooked. I had the 8 piece basket with okra and a small drink. Lunch totaled over $20. Nope. Won't do that again. read more

Really enjoyed here More than hoochies or any other seafood spot in Denton don't feel fooled by the size this place has one good seafood and Ron has the best customer service really appreciate him getting me right on the first time read more

We didn't even get a chance to taste the food. After a lengthy wait in the drive through the young lady couldn't get our order right. When she read back gumbo instead of etouffee I simply said we'll come in and order. The staff wasn't friendly or helpful. In my 8 minute wait the only words said to me were, "this register". It seems I went to the wrong register for my to-go order. We wait again. Finally, I asked the young lady standing there if she could take my order and she says, "I have to put in these orders - in order as they come and they were before you. I'll get to you when I'm done with these." Sadly, we left. Not angry...but more disappointed. We'll try again when management either hires more staff or at least friendlier staff. read more

I was really looking forward to their Denton location opening, because we love seafood and haven't been a fan of the seafood places in Denton since moving here. It doesn't hurt that with Covid-19 we' have not eaten in restaurants much this year, but have been doing a lot of delivery. If I were to title my review, it would be "We were NOT disappointed." We ordered and split the Admiral's feast, decided to share some fried green tomatoes, and I tried their gumbo. We both have decent appetites,, but the Admiral's Feast is as large as it sounds. With the included fries, which are pretty good even after being delivered from the other side of Denton, it's really a lot of food. We both enjoyed everything in the Admiral's Feast, but I could eat 3-4 pieces of the white fish and nothing else. That was some of the best fried fish since we lived in the San Francisco peninsula and were 15 minutes from Cook's Seafood. Don't get me wrong, the catfish and oysters were really good too, and the shrimp was big enough to have a really excellent shrimp flavor. If you've eaten a lot of Shrimp, you'll probably know what I mean. The gumbo wasn't the best I've had, but it was good. I definitely wasn't disappointed and will have some the next time I've got a craving; because it will do the trick. Instead of saying that The Catch is now the best seafood in Denton, I would say that they are the ONLY seafood in Denton. Forget the rest, seriously. Do yourself a favor and you'll be hooked like we are! read more

First time at Denton location. Breads done perfectly, fried fish is exceptional, Cajun fries are the best I've ever had, po boy was so authentic I thought I was at Acme Oyster House in NOLA. Sauces taste scratch-made. Even the hush puppies were a whole new level. Manager Lawrence runs a great place, with friendly staff who know how to make great food. read more

Our first order this week - we used pickup. It was very fast. We got catfish, white fish, red beans/rice, and gumbo. Not especially spectacular. Rather mealy and not flavorful. We won't go back. read more

We were so excited to try this place but it was not a good experience. The fried food is fairly good but the boil, not so much. The shrimp was cooked too long and it was rubbery, the crab looked like they killed a baby crab for the legs, they didn't have any silverware to crack them with (not even a metal fork). The staff weren't helpful and kind of rude. My son had to go to the bathroom and there was no soap (in the dispenser or the pump). At least they had free alcohol so I could drink my dinner instead... the place is at the old Long John's and honestly I'd rather have Long John's over this and that's saying a lot. read more

Jessica and her team are amazing. This was the best Cajun food I have ever eaten, outside of the French Quarter! If you are a fan of seafood, this is the place to be. read more

I just ordered the "regular" catfish meal from Doordarsh. Unlike the luscious picture of 4 filets in the app, a "regular" is one 1oz filet of catfish. For $9.99. I called to see if an error was made. Nope, no error. And it doesn't even taste very good. I'm terribly disappointed. I will not order from The Catch ever again. I'm renaming them The Dud. read more

The Catch - It's small and paper thin. For TEN DOLLARS. - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Denton, Texas

The food is always good! I highly recommend this place! Fritters are off the chain. For Fish or shrimp, this is the place!

This place never disappoints. My wife and I have tried several things on the menu and it's always fresh and delicious. I don't dare eat there or I'd be going back for seconds so we use the drive thru. read more

I went to this location today to try something new and I was highly disappointed with the food. First off, I ordered garlic bread as an appetizer and found a fly cooked into the last piece of bread and notified the server immediately, they then offered to bring out a fresh order but I declined since it took away my appetite. I also thought it to be highly unprofessional of them to not even offer to take it off my bill knowing that there was an insect in my food. Secondly, the food was not as flavorful as we thought it was going to be. Definitely not worth the price or experience. read more

I have lived in Denton since July & The Catch gave me my first racist experience. The manager intentionally walked around greeting everyone but me while I waited for my food. When she was FORCED to talk to me (because I had been waiting for 40 minutes) she didn't even greet me. She said, "what's the name on your order".... well HELLO TO YOU TOO!!! I got home w/ scraps for crab legs, not to mention they were cold. I DO NOT recommend, especially for the community of color!!! read more

I'm very hopeful that this restaurant will become a success in the future. It has some work to do. Especially, considering there is another seafood restaurant down the street. I've tried the restaurant 3 times in a week and 1/2 span. I will say the restaurant food (catfish) is lacking taste. Imagine eating fish with no taste. I decided to have them with cocktail sauce and that doesn't taste quite right either. More of a sour flavor and I've had plenty of cocktail sauce. Next, there needs to be transparency about ordering. I ordered twice and picked up without anyone asking or requesting to prepay. The 3rd time they demanded a card to place a togo order. I decided to just go in person to order and just go through the drive thru. Expect to wait at least 20 mins. You just go ahead and park your car. So I finally get my food and go home. I get home and I notice smaller packaging for the side item...I got an incomplete side. How do I know? Well I've ordered the same thing over those three visits and my side was incomplete. I called to verify and I was correct. Well now I proceed to eat my food and then I notice something else. One fish is missing batter on one side...it got curled it the oil I suppose but someone that packed my order would see that. Anyways, I hope this restaurant can get it together. Makes there fish tasty and not bland. I mean not even lemon could make it better. read more

Stopped by this place when I noticed how busy it was. I figured that it must be good, and it was. We tried the Admiral's Platter which has a little bit of everything (fried fish, shrimp, oysters, and crawfish tails). The fish tasted fresh and was fried perfectly. I always worry about getting oysters and shrimp so far from the coast, but these were excellent. The "catch fried fish" uses a corn meal batter, and the "whitefish" is flour based . They also have catfish, gumbo, and a boudin balls. Yum! We will be back! read more

Had a great meal, between the four of us we tried just about everything. Gave them four stars, only because it took a little bit to get all our order. The manager came over apologized and personally so that we got our order right. For being open only a few days, and packed on a Friday, the manager I think her name is Jessie is doing an incredible job. Give them a bit and this is going to be an easy 5 star+. We will be back. Oh and the free Margaritas helped. read more

Food can be pretty decent but they don't have any proper utensils to eat the crab legs, the boiled shrimp was over cooked and didn't come with any potatoes or anything. Just shrimp. A little disappointed but I'll try again. read more

We ordered the Captain's combo, and extra piece of fish, and chicken tenders for dinner. Everything was amazing! Fish was cooked perfectly and the chicken was juicy and not over fried. Definitely will order again read more

Food was fantastic, ordered fried catfish/shrimp combo. Crispy and great flavor. Hush puppies great too. Definitely will be back. The only reason I didn't rate a five because door to patio seating slammed every time someone went in or out. Staff also used this door to take food to drive through!!! So annoying!!! We left quickly after we finished because we just couldn't stand it any longer! read more

Cold grilled shrimp and cold (not crispy) crawfish tails. Catfish was crispy and hot...was probably added last since everything else was cold. Beans and rice were okay. Lots of employee noses below masks. We will give them one more chance but on a cold, rainy Saturday, we wished we had gone to Frilly's which is very consistent. The lady at the register was very helpful...the place was very busy which I was glad to see. P.S.- the blackened whitefish was so salty plus cold we couldn't eat it...also strange tartar sauce. read more

Great food but honestly terrible service. I went thru the drive thru and they had me park only to forget about me for 45 minutes.

It was very good. We enjoyed it very much. Cole slaw was okay, but everything else was great. They need a bigger place. Nice people.

This place is not good.Within an hour eating here my husband ordered shrimp broil he started feeling sick he definitely got food poisoning here. Beware!!! read more

We dined in at The Catch in Denton, TX on 2/21/21 at 2:00 p.m. The food was very good, and the staff was scrupulous about cleaning the tables. However, the cashier, the person handing out the food at the drive thru window, and the waitress who delivered our food to our table were all wearing their masks underneath their noses. I had a direct view into the kitchen, and one of the kitchen workers wore no mask at all the entire 45 minutes we were there, while cooking and plating food. I think he might have been a manager as well. It's a shame, because the food was good, but I will not be dining in or picking up food from The Catch again, at least as long as COVID is a problem. read more
