When we moved to Denton, I automatically found The Catch (wanting seafood) and let me State, they delivered!! Amazing food & service.​​

Im giving them five stars because they just opened, the food was solid, theyre slammed, and the staff was great. Read on for more detail. Food: everything was rock solid except for the etouffe. To me it was way too much tomato and not the white wine holy trinity flavor Ive had before. We had fish and it was clean tasting and awesomely fried, shrimp and catch fries (fried shrimp were the highlight of the meal, huge and great batter) and a crab boil with cajun sensation butter sauce. The thing about butter sauce is to me, its stupid, it doesnt impart any flavor to the meat and makes it harder to eat. Put that on the side and call it good. I know its a trend, but its a stupid trend. That said, the body meat on the snow crab was the best Ive ever had. Super tender and clean. The FREE drinks flowed freely and our server Joy was incredible in every way. The hurricanes and margs are frozen and that was an awesome surprise on a sunny afternoon. Super busy still, and I hope they realize there is a BIG part of Denton as a university town that takes Covid very seriously, in terms of wiping down outdoor tables and surfaces in general. I'll start with: the food is wonderful. The seasoning is great, breading is crunchy, love the hush puppies. But they are so. Slow. This is the third time we've ordered from them. The first time, we ordered in the drive thru and waited almost 40 minutes. The next time we tried a delivery service, took well over an hour. This time, I was put on hold for almost 30 minutes. I always drive thru. I ordered the 2&4 with Whitefish. I quit eating catfish a very long time ago! Today i was given catfish fried the way they do whitefish. How do I know? I eat here once a week and never get catfish. I know what catfish filets look like. I took the order back in. They tell me it is the whitefish. They show me a cornmeal battered catfish and say see this is the catfish. And I say this does not look like whitefish it's too thin and rolls like catfish. The whitefish filets are thicker than what they gave me. They assure me that it is whitefish. I get back to the car and tear it apart and it's definitely catfish battered like they do the whitefish. It's tough as shoe leather. I will be pausing my weekly visits for lunch. I may come get the beignets every now and then. They went from being super busy to occasionally busy. I really do enjoy this place. It can be very difficult to find a decent fast casual seafood place, so I'm happy this place exists. The food is great quality and I've never had a bad meal anytime that I've eaten here. It's a very small location as it was converted from another fast food place so it can get pretty busy and the drive through can get pretty backed up, but I think the food is definitely worth it. read more

What the Sam hell?! I have lived in Denton 2 years and never eaten here?! This is THE best seafood and Cajun in Texas. My god the portions are huge, the prices are good, and the food is incredible. Denton, did you know you had seafood this good sitting in a damn shack on 380? These shrimp tacos have like 12 shrimp in them!! The gumbo is incredible. The seafood boils are like 1/2 to 1/3 as much as places nowhere near this good. I want to come back tomorrow. read more

Food was great! We got the grilled shrimp tacos and jumbo shrimp basket. If you ever get the grilled shrimp tacos, be sure to ask for light coleslaw--it was a little messy. For something considered fast food, the quality was great, and it tasted like something from a sit-down restaurant. The reason I knocked off a star is because of the long wait in the drive-thru, but that is to be expected because of the quality of the food. read more

Everything has been good over 6 visits, other than (1) the shrimp etouffee which once was overloaded with file and another time tasted of stale shrimp and (2) the garlic butter shrimp had much too much garlic bite for this garlic lover - i.e., the garlic needed some (more?) cooking. The catfish filets, although good whether blackened or fried, are a bit too small. Larger filets would be much better and paying a bit more would be well worth it. read more

Yeesh. Took a friend of mine here for her birthday. She is from southwest Louisiana.... she was not impressed. The crawfish had cayenne pepper on top of it. The water was not seasoned. I ordered the chicken and it was terrible. Ice cold, flavorless, and way overpriced. Avoid this place if you are looking for decent sea food. I definitely won't be back. read more

My husband and I finally got a chance to eat there. The food was great as well as the service. I don't remember the guy name that took our order he said he worked at the one in Dallas and came over to help out. Very friendly I even went back the same day with our daughter. ate there in april 2021.....usually don't bother writing reviews ( this is my very first),but thought i must bc of the seriousness of this. went through drive in to place order. very s-l-o-w bc after ordering had to pull up and wait. finally received food & came home to eat. it was about 3 pm so put food into the refrigerator until 6-ish to eat supper. reheated in microwave. green beans were soooo spicy that i couldn't eat themafter 1 bite, it took a cup of milk and 2 ice cream sandwiches to cool my mouth down. what if this would have been served to a child as a healthy vegetablefinally threw them in the garbage if they had been listed on menu, as spicey, never would have ordered themsuggestion: either list as hot & spicey on menu -or- change recipe. i will never make the mistake of re-ordering them if i ever order againjury is still out on this one. read more

I have to say I was extremely disappointed not only in the service the food was sub par! We have never had oysters that were bone dry and seem they were not freshly shuck!!! Not mentioned our Togo order came out with my husband food and he was finished long before i got my and oysters! I thought I'd ordered red beans and rice. Had asked for them. I in experience young man proceeded to shove the receipt in my face to let me know i didn't order it. I would have gladly paid for them since i asked twice about them thinking I'd had ordered it! Ordered two Captain's Combos and a side of red beans and rice. Boudin balls were huge and tasted great. Catfish was not crispy. Hush puppies were very dense. Red beans and rice was good. Missing were the eight jumbo shrimp that should have came with the order. Contacted them through their website but never heard back from them. For the price there are much better options. read more

Ok. The fried pickles were really good not overly breaded and still a nice crunch. I ordered the crawfish tails and red beans and rice. Just okay. My wife ordered the the catch sampler and she liked the whitefish and the rest was ok. The biggest complaint I would have is the beignets ARE BISCUITS COVERED IN POWDERED SUGAR. My husband and I finally tried The Catch and what a NICE surprise! His fried shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the red beans and rice, again perfectly seasoned, just a hint of spice that didn't overpower. We've driven by numerous times and the parking lot is always full. I know why! "Catch a load of this line," I said to my hubster, Kip. He didn't laugh and insisted we waited in the thing, even though it was spreading through two parking lots, past three crack mattresses, and a shady Sonic drive-in. Of course, he immediately passed out from all the 'ludes, so I was forced to wait while he snored along to Mariah Carey's Christmas album. when we finally got up to order, the crabby attendant couldn't hear me over the sound of Kip puking into the backseat bucket and the rumbling trash can the employees were jettisoning box after box of garbage from, rolling it around the asphalt on wheels as loud as lobster screams. Kip ordered the kid's chicken tenders because he likes to stick it to the man, paying less to combat ageism. I decided to have the gumbo, the etoufee smothered catch fish, and the sausage. Holy mackerel was the total high, so I fished around in my wallet for the hundo I earned at the fetish ball back before COVID stripped me of my civil liberties. Look, the food was great, but they forgot my sauces, my gumbo, and the paper bib I asked for for Kip -- he's a messy Bessie when he eats fried chicken. Aside from the service issues and the fact that I dropped ten bucks for gumbo I didn't get, I would say catch me outside this restaurant again someday, maybe when they get their act together and I can breathe my spit in people's faces again. This restaurant has been in a serious decline since it opened. I have visited this restaurant four separate times. The first time was when they first opened. They had a very large crowd, but they managed to get the food out in a timely manner. Although, it was hard to reach our server after we were served our food due to the large crowd, but in the end we had enjoyed our night, and the food was delicious.. The next time I ate from this restaurant it was delivered through Uber. I ordered the Poboy since when I went there the first time my friends who were with me said it was so good and I also ordered boiled seafood, which is also some thing else that I've never ordered myself, but I've heard good reviews for. The seafood to me had too much of a lemon taste because they left the lemons in there other than that everything else was good in the boiled seafood but the Poboy was dry and cold. The third time, I went there in person again with more friends. There was a bit of a wait for our food, even though there was only two other people other than us three in the restaurant. Once we received our order, the Boudin balls was great but the shrimp in the seafood boil seemed over cooked and mushy. The fourth time I ordered from this restaurant was again through Uber this time since I usually order these from there, I got the Boudin balls, red beans and rice and hush puppies. For starters the hush puppies were dry, and had a almost stale taste. The Boudin balls were smaller then they previously were ,they had a weird smell and they came with no sauce to dip in. It was also served with a lemon slice which go all over the bottom of 2/6 of my Boudin balls, and caused it to be very sour and soggy. The red beans and rice was a good portion, warm and tasted great as always, which is what has earned this restaurant a two stars for me...... it was originally going to get a 1 star. read more

We went this evening for the first time, placed our order at the counter & then sat outside on a picnic table. We waited, and waited, and waited for over 30 minutes to receive our food. Brought two out of our three meals & the 3rd meal came even 10 minutes longer. Very disappointing. The food was tasty & we requested tarter sauce which we never received. We were going to order beignets but it was 7:30 & the line at the counter was 4 people deep, no thank you. I don't think I will return for a long time. read more

A quick update to an earlier review. Maybe coming here during lunch time on a Friday during Lent wasn't our best idea ever. The place was SLAMMED! The parking lot was full, and drive through was very, very slow. We watched someone go into the restaurant as we got in the drive through line and she came out a few minutes before we got our food, so the line wasn't slower than the restaurant itself. I can't blame The Catch, they were working on it as best they could. But I think we won't be going there on Fridays during Lent for lunch again. OK, the important stuff - how was the food? I had a oyster po-boy, my wife had a shrimp taco plate. Both were very good, and the french fries were also great! Almost as good as Gyro-360's fries, and that's high praise. Perhaps if we'd have eaten them there instead of at home, they would have been better. Next time, we'll have the fries there. We also split a slice of Key lime and it was great! So, all in all, we like this place. A lot! read more

Hour and a half long wait in drive through. Told me they forgot about my order when I called. Food came cold. They served beans and rice in a container with paper at the bottom.... It is a fast-food style restaurant, but the food and service were great. The catfish was seasoned well, the hush-puppies were crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside, and the fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned well. Other locations I have eaten at were good.......however, NOT the case here! The beans were sour and the rice was hard, hush puppies also disappointed. The gator tail was good as was the garlic bread, unfortunately that was the only thing good about my dining experience. As I got up to leave my meal which I had scarcely picked over I saw at this point what sealed in stone my forever opinion of this establishment.....A GIANT 2 INCH LONG ROACH sitting across from me in the booth!
