Stopped in again earlier this week for lunch. There is a new menu and a friendly lady at the Register. The food was great as usual. I ordered the wrong thing from what I was reading on the new menu but ended up with the Cajun Dinner. It was excellent and I had not ordered Gumbo like I usually do at a Cajun Cafe, and was glad I did not. The portions were excellent and I did not want more to eat. The Cafe was cleaned up with all table tops wiped clean. It was mid afternoon and there were 4 other tables being used by patrons and they all were commenting about their food. VERY IMPRESSED - the atmosphere is that of a fast food chain, but the menu is that of a Louisiana roadside cafe. We had the crawfish boil special which was delicious and cooked to perfection - it even included a free margarita! The staff and management were very friendly and service was excellent. This place was pretty decent! I think you're paying upper end of average and there definitely aren't a lot of seafood boil places in Denton, besides Shell Shack. I think She'll Shack is a little cheaper though. I have heard that if you dine in, it's free booze! But I've only gotten it to go. My boyfriend and I decided to get 1 lb snow crab, 1lb shrimp, corn & potatoes, and sausage. We also got an order of the boudin balls. In total I think we paid around $85... I'm from Houston so when it comes to my "boil in a bag" I like it saucy. I decided to go with the medium spice and the seasonings that combines them all; garlic, Cajun, and I think lemon something. The catch does skimp on the sauce. As you can see in the pictures, before it's poured out, it already looks a little on the light side. But once it's poured out, it's just enough to cover the shells. You don't really have any extra to dip. * The boudin balls were tasty but a little over cooked. Good flavor though! * The crab legs were very small. Not a lot of meat. I'd say every few legs you got a empty one. Definitely don't want to pay 30+ for a lb of crab where I don't get much. * The sausage was AMAZING! * The shrimp was good! Definitely had more sauce in the bag than the crab. They were also a good, plump size. In my opinion, The Catch is decent. So a couple of my friends wanted to check this place out. My friend raves about the Lewisville location so I was extremely excited to try this place. We came opening week so knew it might be packed. I had to pick up my kids from preschool at 2 pm so I figured if we got there at noon, it would give me plenty of time to hang out and enjoy my lunch. Haha. That was positive thinking on my part. I received my appetizer of fried green tomatoes right away. Delicious and hot and crispy but had to ask for some dipping sauce. My friend got her app as well. Good to go. Then, about 30 minutes pass by. I get my way over cooked crab legs. It was like eating rubber and I couldn't get the meat out of the shell. But I was the only one to get my food. My 2 friends just sat and watched me try to tear apart those poor legs (definitely died in vain). We go ask about our food, it's coming out they say!! Then another 20 minutes, ask, same response. About 1:15 pm, (my friend and I carpooled), she asked for a refund because we had to leave by 1:30 pm. After going back and forth for 25 minutes with the staff/manager, she finally got a refund, my other friend had to order food for her family so she said she was just going to wait. I didn't even eat my crab legs. BUT, the manager Jessica, who was obviously extremely flustered, apologized and said to please come back and try them again, on the house. Just mention her name. Cool. Fast forward to today, I wanted to give the place a second shot. When arriving, it was not so busy inside yet the drive thru line was pretty intense. I asked the register lady if Jessica was around because she said I could get a comped meal. Very rudely, the lady said she's not here but we only comp if it's been a week from the incident. (How many incidents do they get??) I told her I came opening week in November and she replied it's February. I said yes it is but was never informed of such a policy. She ends up calling Jessica, I get my comped meal, which she said, "well next time you'll only have a week to use your meal." Did she just imply that I'll get a free meal again because they'll mess up again?? Haha, weird response. She then asked what I had last time and I replied crab legs but I don't want that this time. I just want the fried fish/shrimp platter. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes which I said I'd be happy to pay for those. She rang it up and charged me $7 but with a glaring annoyance. I was very nice about this the whole time FYI. Still threw in a $8 tip in the jar. Asked for a hurricane and water. She pours beer...and I was like dang, the hate is real. Lol. Asked again for a hurricane, she said oh yea, you did say that. Well, at least she admitted one wrongdoing. The fish was hot and amazing, the shrimp were HUGE and oh so delectable, fries were good, and the boudin ball was weird but probably just not my thing. Came with plenty of sauces and we enjoyed our meal. Will definitely be back and hopefully they'll have their staff trained for better customer service practices. The blonde who served us and was running out drive thru orders was very attentive and deserves recognition. First time here and loved it! Went through the drive through and ordered Shrimp Étouffée and Blackened Shrimp Tacos. Both very good. Fries had a Cajun seasoning on them which was awesome (may ask for extra on top next time). Loved the hush puppies too. Definitely will be back. read more

It seems like this place was built overnight! I drive by on my way to and from the grocery store all the time and one day it was just there- remodeled with a sign and everything! I was a little uncertain since that building is cursed and nothing seems to last very long, and perhaps because I'm still a little bitter about losing Pollo Regio. Also, I've never dined at one, but have checked out the menu for the Flower Mound and Lewisville locations before, and I wasn't expecting them to choose a location with a drive thru. Curses aside, I think this place has a chance. For the past several weeks, every time I pass by the entire parking lot is full and the drive thru is starting to wrap around the building. I really wanted to try them out, but I also avoid exposing people to me getting hangry in a long line, so I finally decided to order through Door Dash last week. We ordered the Captain's Combo, large chicken tender plate and the OMG beignets. I must say that the portions are very large and very reasonable for the price. I did like that I could try a bunch of different things, especially seafood, without breaking the bank. I wouldn't recommend the beignets, they were super doughy and the flavors were muddled. Possibly rushed because they are both new and super busy, but I suspect a recipe that doesn't fit my preferences or expectations. Not really a big deal, it's not the main attraction. I stole one of my husband's chicken tenders (he's not really into seafood) and I have to say I was impressed! Great cut and seasoning, all white meat, perfectly fried! I can't imagine returning without at least ordering a small for later, they refrigerate well (I may have stolen a second one out of the fridge too... that's not really important) and are very satisfying. My husband has a big appetite and couldn't finish in one sitting, so order a small, share or plan on leftovers. Definitely worth $10.99. I got the Captain's Combo because I can't resist options. The cost may be $17.99 but it really is a lot of food, I would recommend sharing with at least one other person. I was eating on this thing for at least two days, lol. I thought the fish and shrimp were pretty solid, satisfied a seafood craving and were clean. The seasoning on the fish was a bit subtle, but I did like the batter and crisp. The shrimp were fried very nicely and I got big juicy pieces. The fish were two huge pieces and I think there were 4 or 5 shrimp- food comas make the details a little fuzzy. Fries really come down to preference. These fries are battered, but also pretty limp. I prefer my fries crispy, but my husband really liked these. I thought they were fine, they tasted good, but aren't really my thing so I would probably try the coleslaw or red beans and rice next time. Again, nothing wrong with them, I just mention it so you can order your sides based on your own preference. The boudin balls were okay, but the flavors didn't really match my expectations. They weren't bad, they even had a bit of a kick, but I didn't especially care for them. I've been trying to decide what it was- was it over seasoned perhaps? Too starchy? The truth is, I'm not fully certain what it was about them, but I'm leaning towards disproportionate seasoning, which probably means it was just that one batch and the next ones might be exactly what I'm expecting. Won't really know unless I try them again. Eh. The hush puppies were very small, which always makes me sad because I love me some hush puppies. These were too dense in my opinion but I did like the taste and completely loved the crunchy outer edges. Despite being on the dense side, I won't turn these down in the future, but you should probably order an extra side of these or you'll be bummed with the amount. Keep in mind, this is one order in their first month when they are still working out kinks and are extremely busy. It can't be easy to open a restaurant during COVID19 so if anything I would give them 4 1/2 stars for that if Yelp allowed it. I'm not sure I want to deal with the crowds or a long line to try them again, but I do plan to return in person once the hype dies down and try some additional items. Their menu is pretty extensive and they also have gator (really want to try that), oysters, etouffee, gumbo, po boys, tacos and options that come fried or boiled. Not sure if they can execute that many options but with this much variety I think most people will find a few things they like. A dessert or side may or may not meet expectations, but the entrees are solid and that counts for something with me. In fact, if they prove to be consistent over several more visits (consistency is my jam) then I would gladly give them 5 stars later. It's nice to have some decent seafood offerings so close to home and I always appreciate a place providing good value for your money. read more

I thought this might be helpful to someone who has never been to this location before and is curious how the tiny drive-thru works. I know I sure was. Check it out! I went on a Wednesday. They open at 10:30am but I wasn't able to leave my house till 11:30am. 11:41am arrive 11:49am order 12:01pm paid 12:15pm food! The food was SO GOOD. So I got a shrimp poboy combo (you can't order poboys ala carte btw) with fries and hush puppies. I also got the fried fish and fried shrimp combo. For that for my side I got red beans and rice and hush puppies (hush puppies come with all meals). And those hush puppies were GREAT! I normally don't like hush puppies but these were nicely fried and had a great flavor. The poboy was great, the fried fish and shrimp were EXCELLENT. I think I have found a new favorite Denton restaurant! My girlfriend also got shrimp étouffée and some beignets. She really liked both items! Notes: Excellent service and they made sure to read my order back to me which was nice. I saw two couples sitting on the patio and it seemed like they were waiting a while. I ordered Dungeness crabs and got snow crabs. I was very disappointed. YELP customer service refunded my money. However, the sauce was excellent. I liked the sausage in it. It was the real Andouille sausage. Most places use smoked sausage, which doesn't add any flavor. If they had put Dungeness instead of snow crab legs in it, I would have given the meal 5 stars. read more

They no longer serve banana pudding or fried jalapeños. Very disappointed but even more disappointed by the change in food quality. I ordered shrimp etouffee because crawfish is no longer offered either. The roux was off in color and flavor. The gumbo was way overcooked and the sausage had gotten that overcooked dark shriveled up look. The red beans and rice was mostly rice. The beans were small and the whole thing was way over seasoned. Gave The Catch a try recently. Used the drive-through. The menu trick.. two speakers one on the left one on the right pull up more to the right... that's the microphone to talk into. Good choices of seafood. I ordered the fried shrimp basket with seasoned fries & hush puppies. It was good/tasty; the shrimp was plump, crispy, cooked well; fries were decent; hush puppies were good but too small. Overall not bad. I have 2 cons: 1) drive-through wait was longer than expected... Only two cars ahead of me... But took 40 minutes to finally get my food.
