I love the Buttered Tin's frozen French apple pie from the grocery store, so I figured I'd try the actual restaurant. First impressions: the space was bright and clean, with lots of seating. We were given a table number by the hostess, then ordered and paid at the counter and sat down. Service was quick and friendly! The breakfast burrito was delicious and enormous, perfect to split. Street parking in the area. I imagine it could be busy, but we easily found a spot on a holiday weekend morning.

This place did not live up to our expectations. We got the Caribbean Grain Bowl & the Loaded Hash Browns along with a latte. While the menu has a Plant Based identifier, usually a promising sign there was only ONE thing on the menu plant based which was the Caribbean Grain Bowl from the lunch menu. The bowl itself was good and filling. The Loaded Hash Brows were pretty bland. I might try this place again because the atmosphere was relaxed, kid friendly and the staff were kind plus I have also heard the baked goods are really good! *Skip this place if you are vegan.

I've had The Buttered Tin on my radar for the better part of a decade--originally the St. Paul location--but never quite made the trip. Now that I live closer to the Minneapolis spot, I finally gave it a shot via a promo "surprise bag." Ended up with three cinnamon rolls. Truthfully, I'm not a big cinnamon roll person, so take this with a grain of sugar--but they were decent. A little on the dry side, and I found myself wishing they came with some frosting or glaze. Not sure if they were day-olds (maybe part of the surprise?), but they weren't bad. Just not a game-changer for me--but again, I'm not the target audience there. What did impress me was the lavender lemonade. Really flavorful--bright, floral, and refreshing. It was a little strong straight out of the cup, but once I watered it down at home, it hit the spot. Definitely something I'd go back for. Also spotted some lavender honey for sale, which feels like a bit of a find--lavender-anything can be hard to come by, so I consider that a small win. Apparently, I'm on a lavender kick now? Looking forward to trying more from the full menu next time--maybe something warm and savory to balance out all the sweet.

Mediterranean Grain Bowl (GF, V) $18

I ordered the Mediterranean Grain Bowl (GF, V). Overall, it was good for a healthy lunch. I'm not a fan of olives, but that's just personal preference. The Tzatziki sauce was served generously. I only used a third. I also got to try a bite of their cinnamon roll. Soft, sweet, and just the right amount of indulgent for my one bite. Ordering is done at the counter, and it's self-service for water and seating. A casual setup with decent food. Nothing too unique but I would come back to try some more food if nearby.

We just had basic eggs and bacon. Bakery case looked delicious, I'll go that route next time. Restaurant was clean. Plenty of street parking available. Service was fine.

Went to The Buttered Tin in Northeast Minneapolis for Saturday lunch with a friend and the Dill Pickled Grilled Cheese was unreal. (Dill Havarti and provolone cheese, dill pickle chips, and peppadew relish on toasted sourdough bread.) I also added bacon to mine. For a high traffic place they had a really good system of flipping the tables and I don't think I saw one person waiting even though the line was out the door. Parking note: it's street parking so make sure you are prepared to parallel park in winter haha

Met some friends out for brunch after New Years, we got our food ordered before the morning rush. There was lots of different seating and our food came out pretty fast. Loved the chai latte and the eggs benny. The potatoes were just okay. Overall, definitely recommend checking it out and I will definitely be back to the NE location

Kwy lime bar, tumeric coffee, cinnamon roll

Quick and friendly service, fun but loud restaurant in general. The key lime bar was amazing! The turmeric coffee came from a powder and was still gritty in the drink, but not a bad flavor.

First time trying breakfast at the buttered tin and it really made my morning! Went to breakfast with the fam on a Saturday around 9:30AM and it was very busy. Be prepared to wait in line, but it goes quick and seating wasn't to awful. It is a seat yourself, order at the counter type of place. Started with a decaf coffee (very good quality) and the biscuits and gravy. The cheddar and thyme biscuits were the star of this dish! The gravy was savory and packed good flavor. The eggs were soft and fluffy. And the pickled onions added a nice balance. Everyone was so pleased with their meals! Such a lovely experience and love that they prioritize farm to table cooking.

    Pierogi Meal

Pierogi meal was delicious! Pierogis were crispy on the outside with fluffy potato on the inside, served with a not-too-horseradishy horseradish cream sauce. Partnered with over easy eggs, thick buttered toast + strawberry jam AND a sausage with pickled cabbage on top. Hearty, tasty, savory, all freshly prepared and served quickly.

The buttered tin is amazing! The interior is cute and a really nice vibe. I've tried multiple things here and everything is great! The apple pastry is delicious! Their salad dressing on the breakfast side salad is delightful. It is so fresh I loved it.

I'm visiting from Portland Oregon where breakfast/brunch is a sport. The establishment was busy yet ran very efficiently. The food was amazing and the staff couldn't have been any more friendly and accommodating. Their commitment to excellence shines through in the food.

Loved this place! Was recommended it by a friend and it did not disappoint. I've tried a few things, but love the egg sandwich and the French toast. Have been back several times and always a good experience!

I attended solo but luckily really liked the group I was assigned to. We wanted everyone to work on things they enjoy and allowed everyone to try some parts of the important tasks (making pasta and pastry dough). Your enjoyment might really depend on what your group is like. You can buy wine and beer to drink while you take the class, and those were reasonably priced I thought! $9 for a glass of wine and I think $8 for beer. The class was chaotic since we were making three courses and things needed to be done at different times, but the chaos felt like how it really is in a kitchen making multi course menus, so that didn't bother me! The assistants were great and helped us stay on track and helped if we were struggling with anything. I can't say I learned much from the class (which is why I only gave 4 stars), but I sure had a lot of fun!

The vibe & service here is warm and inviting, with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries filling the air. This place was practically across the street, so we decided to take a breather from the hectic festivites and come here. Immediately we were greeted with cooling A/C and much-needed silence. Cool and quiet... the perfect escape. The place was decked out for pride with lots of colorful flags representing many of the wonderful ways to be queer. Definitely get bonus points for their allyship. I got a bottled Coca-Cola and my hubbie got a simple cup of brewed coffee. They had a reasonably-sized menu with even some smoothies and such listed, as well as a display of bakery items. A chalkboard showed their three seasonal beverages, which looked fun (though not my cup of tea). One of the employees was very helpful when I requested a cup of ice to go with my Coke; I needed the extra cool down after all the time we'd spent in the sun in the heat! We sat at one of the tables and appreciated leaning back into the chairs with back support for several minutes. Whew! Perked us back up nicely. There isn't a ton of space/lots of places to sit and I was kind of shocked the place wasn't flooded with queers, lol. There was quite the line for the bathroom though, according to my husband. The decor is nice and neat. I think I spotted a small selection of board games you could break out if desired too, which is fun.
