Jambon Beurre heated up at home

I enjoyed when they were in Cooks of Crocus Hill so I decided to stop by. The entryway is very tight, with the front door being extremely close to the register. As a result, everyone waiting to order, or exiting, or entering and looking to scoot to the dining area are on top of each other. I actually just stopped in for the shortbread cookies, which were always good in the past. Since they're being added to a gift bag I won't get to taste them. However, I imagine/ hope they're still delicious. While there I decided on something for myself, the Classic Jambon Beurre. Being at such a nice establishment I had high expectations of something special, but sadly it was basic and disappointing. The bread was dry, chewy and thick! Thankfully, I was home, so I placed it in the skillet with some butter and it pressed down. If you have a panini press use that. I don't know if they can heat it up as I didn't ask nor was it offered. However I highly recommend inquiring should you get this sandwich. Anddddd, if you get it, again it's very basic. It could have used something else to make; a little mustard, pickle, a compound butter, some greens in a vinegarette, something. I get that it's classic, but at $16, it needs more. Anyway, my 3 stars are heavily influenced by the sandwich. However, it's a nice place with lots of other options that (based on past) I'm sure are scrumptious.

I've grabbed takeout from the bakery/cafe a few times, dined in for breakfast once, and enjoyed a 3-course tribute dinner. All of my experiences here have been lovely! Recs: matcha, chai, banana bread, chocolate croissant Parking in the area is mostly metered. It can get super busy on weekends!

Stopped in for lunch on one of the best days of the year weather wise. Grabbed the grain bowl and an iced latte and sat out on the patio in the sun. The bowl was a small light lunch portion for the price, but still tasty. The iced coffee is always so tasty. It's a smaller spot so can be hard to get a table during prime hours but I was there for a late lunch mid week so there was ample seating. The food came out super quick and the staff was all so friendly. I am always tempted to buy every single pastry. I've never had one I haven't loved! The crepe cake is ALWAYS the right choice.

I've been to their Edina location before and the pastries were amazing, so I had pretty high expectations coming into this one. First of all -- definitely make a reservation. It's always packed, especially if you're going with friends. We ordered the French onion soup, carpaccio, and gelato. The French onion soup was my favorite -- classic, rich, and exactly what you'd want from a traditional French spot. The gelato was good but leaned a little too sweet for my taste. The carpaccio was tasty, but the portion felt pretty small. That said, I absolutely love the vibe. It's such a cute, charming spot -- perfect for a girls' night or a cozy dinner. Overall, a solid experience, especially for the ambiance.

The class pace is great for beginners and advanced chefs, and they have a great selection of classes. Note that they have you in groups of 6 - we ended up making new lifelong friends. Overall great learning and experience! They ask for feedback at the end of class and you also get a discount for the shop. I have also purchased croissant and danishes from the storefront and they're top tier.

I was greeted when I walked in and several staff members answered my question about the parking. Luckily I had been on the easy to navigate website beforehand, so I knew what I was after: knife storage and an apron. I located those and then allowed myself a little browsing. I think the sunny feeling was only partly sunshine through the windows; the lighting is very nice, and soon someone asked if I needed help finding anything. I also noticed the large cooking classroom. I got a croissant for the road in addition to my small purchase. I think this is my new favorite croissant in the Twin Cities! Up until now it had been Rose Bakery.

We stopped in here after nearby workout class. I started with a creme brulee croissant and wish I had gotten second. I had a french omelet and the eggs were perfectly cooked and the cheese melted into each bite with the perfect amount of flavor. It looked like it may be hard to grab a seat, but there was plenty of turn over and we got a seat right away. The atmosphere was relaxing and filled with positive energy - people catching up, on a first date, or even reading. I am excited to come back to try more pastries variations & grab a coffee.

Passing by the window I thought it was a long shot and almost passed right by. I doubled back when I saw the chalkboard said open seating at the bar. We lucked out and got a high top for two right away. Guess what. They even have wings. Duck wings- something I didn't even know I wanted. Their small plates were perfect and we loved everything. The duck wings were a delicious mix of savory and sweet - dark moist meat like a turkey leg but sauced with a sweet orange glaze. The shrimp cocktail had the biggest shrimp I've seen in my life. The Brandade Fritters had a nice crispy texture and spicy sauce to take them the extra mile. The Trotter Croquette was also just so interesting - almost like a crab cake texture but so meaty and savory. We just couldn't stop so we had the chocolate mousse cake as well. It was to die for. It reminded me of my favorite Sebastian's Joe's ice cream - raspberry chocolate chip since it was paired with a raspberry sherbet. The Mousse was on this like crumbly stuff I that told my husband reminded me of that layer in à DQ cake (in the best way). Just all around perfect texture and flavor combos. I also really appreciated their NA cocktails. Most places do not do them well but I am happy to say that their Tonic 11 was very good. I can't wait to come back and try the other ones. Service and the ambiance were also very nice. They were so welcoming even though we just wandered in off the street at prime time on Valentine's Day. The interior is beautiful with high ceilings, romantic lightning and even intricately tiled bathrooms. They really paid attention to every detail and it shows.

If you ever had thought about taking a cooking class, (but were nervous) we would highly recommend this one or any that Chef Aaron leads. The class lasted 3 hours, It seemed like 1 hour. It was such a fun evening! The event happened in Rebecca's home and it had such a lovely laid-back feeling. Plus the food was delicious! Conversation flowed easily, she gave us pointers on cooking and it really felt like both of us got to do an equal amount of cooking. We brought our own wine as well, since we were celebrating a birthday. I especially liked that we got to take home a copy of the recipes to try again later. I'm very glad that this was different from just going to a big kitchen area with a chef who gives instructions at the front. This was much more hands on and felt much more personalized. We were able to work within both our dietary restrictions (kosher and vegetarian) and it never felt like we made it hard or difficult. Very fun, I would do it again. Thanks Rebecca!

Introduction to Ayurveda is more than just a cooking class, but an invitation to think about your…read morerelationship with food and eating. Most cooking classes start with some small talk about the menu, maybe a glass (or two) of wine - Nalini starts with a 15-minute guided meditation that culminates (warning: spoiler alert) with a small food offering that makes you keenly aware you are what you eat. She then discusses Ayurveda and the principal of eating foods balanced to your body (kind of sort of makes sense, but I'm still thinking how much I love bacon). Then the kicker - it's not just how you feel about taste, but also how you feel afterward (needless to say, I could still feel the delicious Prather Ranch corned beef sandwich I had for lunch). The food we cooked - soup, rice and green beans was simple and delicious. It was fun to learn how to mix and prepare Indian spices. But the real learning is to really think about your food. I'm not at all ready to give up corned beef or bacon all together, but even for a couple meals every week, to think about balance, energy and how you feel afterward. Thanks Nalini, hope to do another class soon!

First of all, the class was held in Nalini's apartment, which is beautiful. Right off the bat, you can tell Nalini is incredibly knowledgeable. She is also kind, warm, and respectful. I learned a lot about Ayurvedic principles and some of the basics of Indian cooking; however, I didn't even get to use my knife! I guess that would be my only criticism; I expected to do more cooking than I actually did, and to learn more about actual cooking techniques. I think maybe the class size was too large, as I felt there were "too many cooks in the kitchen." Otherwise, it was a wonderfully positive experience. The end result of our labors was delicious! I can't wait to go buy up some spices and try the recipes for myself. I'm definitely interested in some more classes with Nalini, (especially her Dosa making class) as well as one of her culinary tours to India.
