Wow! What a fantastic bakery! They have so many fresh, delicious Mexican pastries at low prices. The person at the front was super friendly. This bakery exemplifies the best of a small, family-owned business. Definitely worth checking out.

Cute little bakery on Lyndale ave! It's very obscure, but it's such a gem. The person at the counter asked if it's our first time and they gave a little tour of the cafe! They are also a good person to ask if it's your first time trying Mexican pastries! Overall, it's very affordable and good amount of seatings too.

A HUGE selection of authentic Mexican sweet breads

This weekend, we tried this viral local Mexican cafe on Lyndale for incredibly affordable and comforting Mexican sweet breads. The aroma of fresh baked bread fills this tiny cafe as an extensive collection of pastries is continuously stocked from the kitchen oven. We tried numerous pastries, as well as one of their three sandwich offerings. The chicken sandwich was made with fresh ingredients in their fluffy in-house bread, with jalapeños for a rather fiery kick. For the price of USD 1.5-2, you can find a buttery empanada, an airy Concha with a sweet Vanilla shell for the perfect crackle, or even a tender bread roll stuffed with chicken and zesty jalapeños. While we did find their sponge cake and flaky pastries to be a little dry, this place definitely gives value for money with their authentic Mexican breads.

I am so glad a Mexican pastry shop opened up a few blocks from me. Welcome to the neighborhood! First off, let me say that some of these reviews show that people aren't educated about Mexican pastry tradition. These pastries are made with lard and are, indeed, made to be dry. You are supposed to eat them with coffee or milk. If you want a moister pastry, ask the people working which are their pastries with a higher moisture content. Hopefully that helps you have a better experience. However, in general, yes, these pastries are drier (and it's not a mistake). Customer service here is great. I know a lot of the Mexican pastries but they were really helpful and told me about all of them. They are more than willing to help guide you. Service is great! I ordered a strawberry empanada, which was delicious! I also ordered the breakfast burrito because it was 1:30 and I hadn't eaten yet. It was spendy (I don't think anymore expensive than everything else is right now) but it was worth it! Burrito was made fresh to order. Walked it home and it was still piping hot! Came with a salsa on the side. It is also a generous size, it's not a small burrito. Highly recommend visiting Papa Chuy's. I'll definitely be going back to try out more of the pastries and find my favorite!

Glad this place opened up close by. Husband and I have walked here multiple times and we will be back to try the yummy looking French toast.

I live in Oregon. My bestie and her daughter moved from here to Minneapolis area awhile back. I wanted her to have a Mil Hojas cake for her birthday since I can't be there with her to celebrate. Found Papa Chuy's here on Yelp a few days ago. . I called them and asked if they could make her one and deliver it to her two days later. They were so helpful and accommodating. It was not a close-by delivery for them. It probably took them 30-50 minutes each direction, but they didn't hesitate and sent me photo confirmation upon delivery. Made the whole process extremely easy. Great communication and service all throughout. My friend got her cake today and Mil Hojas is her favorite. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you Papa Chuy's! You'd better believe I'll be calling again to order.

The food was super good, very quiet atmosphere. I am a Spanish speaker so it was easy to communicate with everyone. The concha was super soft and not dry on the inside. Sandwiches were great too!

I would give it over 5 stars if I could, very good food!! People working were very kind and welcoming.

I attended solo but luckily really liked the group I was assigned to. We wanted everyone to work on things they enjoy and allowed everyone to try some parts of the important tasks (making pasta and pastry dough). Your enjoyment might really depend on what your group is like. You can buy wine and beer to drink while you take the class, and those were reasonably priced I thought! $9 for a glass of wine and I think $8 for beer. The class was chaotic since we were making three courses and things needed to be done at different times, but the chaos felt like how it really is in a kitchen making multi course menus, so that didn't bother me! The assistants were great and helped us stay on track and helped if we were struggling with anything. I can't say I learned much from the class (which is why I only gave 4 stars), but I sure had a lot of fun!

The chocolate almond croissant is next level--flaky, buttery, and packed with rich, decadent flavor. And don't even get me started on the breakfast sandwiches--they're gourmet-level masterpieces. Every bite is perfection. The vibe & service here is warm and inviting, with the irresistible aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries filling the air. Whether you're grabbing a coffee, treating yourself to a pastry, or diving into one of their soups or salads, this place nails it every time. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. Cooks Bellecour is an absolute gem!

I am not usually a coffee drinker, but this place has great lattes. So smooth and not too sweet, which I love! I wish they had a medium-sized drink as their small is too small, and the larger one is a bit too big. I've always gotten the bigger size and ended up finishing it throughout the day!! My favorites - chai latte, spygirl (lavender/honey latte), solid gold (turmeric latte). Still have a few others that I want to try while I am still in MN. The lobby itself is very stylish, with big dark bookshelves, large plants, big fireplace, cozy and comfortable seating, tables, a pool table, etc. When we visited it was decorated for Christmas and that alone was worth the visit! The coffee was delicious and service good. My husband and I both ordered the seasonal "Shakespeare's Fool" which was delicious in decaf and regular. The latte art on top was a plus! The only downside or thing to know is that this location will not accept Spyhouse giftcards because it is part of the hotel. I came wanting to use one, so this was a bummer but I understand and the barista was very apologetic. As a side note about the business, it's impossible to check your giftcard balance online. So while I'd like to use my giftcard, I'm unsure if I will realistically be able to soon!

I didn't have a reservation and i could sit at the bar, but the server seeing it was just me, took me in to the bar area where there were some single high chair tables. I tried a local beer and then decided on a good old fashioned burger, but was able to subtitute my fries with mashed potatoes. Once the food was ordered it came out fairly quickly. Burger was awesome. I just didn't see condiments on the table, but I'm rather a plain jane for food, unless I had ordered the fries. I was wavering on dessert but then I saw the giant peanut butter cup filled with marshmallow fluff, so it was on. I was planning to come back to try the ricotta pancakes and bring back some peanut butter cups for my staff, but time got away from me. So if y'all are reading this review, is there a way I can get these shipped :) If in Minneapolis again will definitley be hitting this spot up again.
