Food: Chicken fried steak/ Grilled pork chop there were no complaints. Good portions for the cost and definitely seemed fresh. Even the sides were delicious and fresh tasting. The ONLY downside is parking. I didn't subtract stars for it because there is still enough room to get around. But definitely use cation with bigger vehicles and especially trailers.

And whenever we take a drive like that, we make it our mission to find a highly rated local lunch spot. This one was on the way home and looked promising, so in we went. I will say this for Texas. Onion rings are everywhere here, far more than when I lived in California. I will happily take that as a win, because the heat for about nine months of the year is not my jam. Sadly, the onion rings were not listed as one of the many sides (so we couldn't get them as a side with our meal), but we ordered them as an appetizer ($8.99 I think) with blue cheese dressing. I am not a ranch girlie, and I stand by that choice. The blue cheese had huge chunks in it, which makes me think it might be house made (bonus point!). Now, the rings. I am firmly Team "Battered" Onion Ring over Team "Breaded", and these absolutely delivered on the team battered. They were almost chicken-fried, -- super craggly, crispy, and deeply satisfying. These were the star of the meal, so do yourself a favor and order them - but you need a friend to share them with, its a heavy portion. They also have great lunch specials, most around eleven dollars. I got the pot roast with two sides, refried beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. After indulging in the onion rings, I was not exactly starving, so I ended up with enough leftovers for another full meal. The pot roast was nicely shredded and tender, and the gravy was rich, flavorful, and worth every calorie. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, (he's obviously on a diet!), with fried okra and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was forgettable, but everything else on his plate was solid. Service was friendly and efficient, and this place definitely fills up at lunch, so plan accordingly. A very good roadside stop, and proof that sometimes the best meals happen when you are just out running errands.

Strolled over to Chili's and were met by three people who were barely out of childhood and couldn't care less. The gum-chewing, poorly articulate child seated us. The temperature was also chilly & the music was too loud for conversation, so we left.) Circling around, we came upon Twin Peaks, which neither I nor my husband had previously experienced. PROS: Upon entering, we were met with a reasonable temperature - not hot or cold. Two lovely ladies greeted us in a professional and friendly manner; and we were seated. Our server "Nadailine"(sorry for the spelling) arrived and was just divine, getting printed menus because my phone wasn't reading the QR code, bringing drinks quickly, taking our orders, delivering the food, and making sure everything was good. We started with an order of the Mini Crispy Tacos. Delicious. I ordered the Fish and Chips (seasoned fries), no vinegar; but ketchup please, and a side of Mac and Cheese. A Coke to drink. Everything was excellent. My husband had an Arnold Palmer (three, actually) I call him a heavy drinker. They were replenished quickly in a fresh glass each time. He ordered the Chicken and Shrimp combo, grilled and blackened. It came with some seasoned fries. Honey mustard, cocktail sauce, and ketchup included. Cooked perfectly; and delicious. CON: The only complaint is when the sound was turned up on the TV screens it was WAY TOO LOUD. We did make a request to have it toned down a click or two; and perhaps that happened; but my eardrums still hurt. It would have been sufficient at half the volume. Patrons (and workers) should not have to sacrifice their hearing while trying to enjoy a meal and conversation when watching the game. What started as perfection, missed the mark when the atmospheric noise became unbearable.

We were a party of 5 and arrived around 7:30p. There was no wait, but the restaurant was pretty full. The bar was completely full, but there were a couple of tables behind the host stand, we were seated quickly after the table was cleaned. The restaurant itself is rather small, and when the sun's out, it's very bright. The ambiance just felt a little off in comparison to other locations, but we couldn't really put our finger on why. We were all hungry! Lol so we ordered too much food as usual. Our drink order was taken and arrived quickly, but everything else took quite a while. We ordered two appetizers, the queso and the loaded tots. These also came out relatively quickly, but the tots were not as ordered so we had to send them back. It took a minute to find our server, and then another while to get them back. All the while we didn't have silverware, we finally had to get some from the host, but apparently all of the actual silverware was being washed, so we were given disposable with the promise we would get real silverware when it was clean - but it never came. Our food didn't come out altogether when it finally, did arrive, but eventually I think we got everything, we just had to eat what we had as it came. The salad was fresh for a bar, which was nice. The fries were inconsistent. Some of us had warm soft fries, others were hard and chewy. Wings were also inconsistent and mine were cold. The mac and cheese was very good. The surprise entree for the evening was the beer cheese cheesesteak sandwich! Despite the lackluster first experience, I would go back just for this sandwich or order it to go! We spent just over $100 for 2 appetizers, 4 entrees with two extra sides, three sodas, and 1 beer. The price wasn't too bad, but the service and food was ok at best. Maybe we'll try another visit in the future when they're not so busy and see if things are better...
