In Terrell for a wedding and asked a local for a Sunday morning breakfast recommendation and he suggested Terrell's Cafe. It's typical of small town cafes. Located in an old building, it's simple, unpretentious with friendly staff, good service and very reasonable prices. I thought the prices were unbelievably low. The food was good. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The hashbrowns were just like I wanted them, extra crispy. The only food complaint is the busicuit was to sweet for my taste. read more

the fat lady with terrible mascara got mad when we jokingly asked if they had complementary orange juice and she said we were complaining about a 3 dollar drink and that only fancy restaurant have complementary orange juice and that's not a fancy restaurant so why are you there also the food wasn't that good and you only get one refill. read more

If you like TexMex and a little bit of everything else along with some reasonable prices this is a great try for lunch. I love their cheese enchiladas with chili con carne on top. I have tried their fried blooming onion which I loved also. Tea is great and does not cost you $3.-$4.00 plus neither. read more

My husband and I went there a couple of days ago and in the past the food was good no complaints. But this time the food was terrible, I could not eat it and sent it back because the pinto beans were sour and my entree was overcooked. When we got the bill I was charged for half of what I couldn't eat. I didn't mind paying for my husband's meal because he did eat it even though it was not very good either. We will not go back there ever again and we will be telling all our friends about it. read more

The food was great. It tasted like it was made that morning, not frozen and reheated as in some chain restaurants. The waitstaff unfortunately was somewhat overrun. (One staffer looked like she had it all under control and another looked like they would rather be someplace else.) As for the decorating, yeah, dated and clearly the last thing on their mind. Service absolutely sucks. Waited thirty min to even place order after rudly asking what we want to drink no hello how are you just what do you want to drink. For 2 cheese enchiladas and one taco sure took a while to have ready. Never again offered a single refill and order still came out wrong. Only 2 other tables here and it's ridiculous. If the older ladies aren't here it's straight trash I wouldn't even give one star!! At this rate your customers will find elsewhere to eat where they can get service with a smile and a Waitress that doesn't slam the plate down on the table an walk away! read more

I know, we're all looking for that great hole in the wall, or Mom and Pop's diner. I found both! Let's see, decor circa 1960, check. Magic marker menu boards, check. You see where I'm going with this. Tables and chairs straight from the 1950's. I like! She brought us chips and hot sauce, which I wasn't expecting. The BEST chips and hot sauce I've had in a while. Delicious! Glenda picked an all veggie plate, while I got the Patty Melt with fries. Both were old school delicious. Places like this are a taste bud treasure. Dessert? Too full, next time. Nice home cooked feel about this place. The overall look of the restaurant is dated, but don't judge a book... (you know the rest). From Mexican to American, there is a variety to choose from. I had the Carne Asada and my wife the Burrito platter and chicken tortilla soup. We both agree the lunch was good but could use a little more spice. The soup was on point (recommend). Place looks like a total dive. And it is...meaning that it's an old, dated simple cafe style building that has seen its better years with KILLER breakfast food. I've eaten here multiple times, all for breakfast. They have American breakfast classics like pancakes & biscuits and gravy but the stars of the show are their Mexican style breakfast dishes. Huevos con fajitas, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, breakfast burritos. All EXCELLENT. Combined with good, friendly service and absolutely unbeatable prices. read more

Have been going here with my boyfriend for a while but it's clear they've gone down heel. Came in today and got a three plate enchilada meal only received two , some brown guacamole, and charged 1.99 each for sopillas when they are supposed to be 4.99 for an order of three only got 2. Besides the poor communication , serving old food?? When I called to fix the problem because again we go here all the time , a younger lady on the phone sat and said "ok" I asked again what do you mean okay? - only thing she said she could do was refund the guacamole. LOL. I've always paid the same price got the same thing and the price was still the same yet food quantity and quality very much so different . First time I ever came here I let slide the hair and undercooked chicken slide , but now years later this ? No . They won't be here long . Going down heel like every other place . Words cannot describe how disgusting this place is. Me and my wife have not been here in years and on our first visit back I was reminded of exactly why. Not only did I find a black hair in my salsa but I also found another black hair in the pico that came with my fajitas. I paid for our meal before saying something to them so they would not think I was trying to get it for free. What really sucks is that this place is hands down the most affordable restaurant in town...well of course there's a reason for that and you get what you pay for folks! read more

I ordered the ten large shrimp came with three sides the shrimp are the ones you get at dollar general and I'm not messed up about it except the grease they are cooking with was black the shrimp and fried okra where drench in black grease the okra was soggy the Cole slaw is and acquired taste the put jalapeño in it beware of this place then when I told them about the food they said I had to pay for it untouched when I said no way they told me there was not a manger available and sent what looked like a 16 year old kid out you don't send a kid to conduct adult business I highly recommend you do not spend your money here cheap ingredients and they don't service there fryers read more

This is a small hole in the wall type of the restaurant. The other customers are nice the food is good. Service is good, nice variety on the menu. Normally has a daily special for lunch. People who eat here or not review readers . They just want a good meal at a nice price. So this is a message for the owners or managers "OMG clean that place up it's nasty and it stinks." Sorry you need to hear this on a review because you can't see it or smell it for yourself? You should've use the shut down time to clean that place. Service was good, but we specifically came for dessert and coffee after seeing the dessert options online. More specifically- peach cobbler and praline cheesecake. They were out of the peach cobbler- understandable- so we got the praline cheesecake and coffee. Coffee was ok. But the praline cheesecake I was actually looking forward to it because I've had it somewhere else before and it was amazing! Well, this one was NOT amazing- to put it mildly. It tasted like they put the praline on top of the cheesecake and then heated it! Ew! Everyone knows that cheesecake is supposed to be served COLD! It was so gross. I thought I would give this hole in a wall another chance. When you first enter the foul stinky smell is still there, it's still filthy. I'm sure if this small town had a Health Code it would certainly fail. So many other issues, too many to write down... Wanted some good breakfast, looked on google and this place popped up. It's definitely a hole in the wall, but the food is amazing. Some of the best Mexican/American breakfast I've had! They have a variety of foods and I ended up getting the huevos fajitas and I cleaned my plate! The staff are very friendly as well, it's such a good little diner. Man I can't say enough good things about this place. We came down to the Christmas Tree farm to get our tree and decided to eat in Terrell and so glad we picked the Terrell Cafe. The prices were amazing, the food even more amazing, and the portions were so filling. This is the type of place people love to come to because it's just so good all around. We were traveling through Terrell Texas on Sunday on our way Home, and started to look for a good place to eat. We happened to find The Terrell Cafe and it was great! I had the chicken Fried Steak and my Husband ordered the Fish! Keep in mind this is a Tex Mex / American Restaurant and they automatically bring you out delicious homemade chips and salsa, which was plenty for an appetizer but we decided to try the fried pickles spears and they were awesome! My CFS came with a salad and I ordered the bake potato ( counts as two sides) and it was so tender and had a great favor! My Husband's fish came with two sides and he eat every bite! I think our bill was in the low thirty dollar range which included our soft drinks! The service was wonderful and they even gave me a free desert of fried ice cream for Mother's Day! I base this review on food, service and value. The Terrell Cafe is right off the chart. Deservedly everyone raves about the homemade chips and salsa. But we had the chicken fried steak and chicken livers for lunch and they were fantastic. The sides were great and portions generous. Belinda was not only attentive but friendly and helpful.
