The first time I ate here was around the time they first opened and they hosted a Yelp event here. I was impressed then and have eaten takeout from here multiple times since. They specialize in Shanghainese cuisine though they originally carried more unique dishes, they have adapted over the years to accommodate the non-Chinese clientele in the area. Can't blame'em since they gotta make what sells, though a bit of a shame since it seems the chef, restaurant and Chinese cuisine have so much to showcase outside of the more generic staples* that are popular in the US. That being said I can recommend the following: - Shanghainese lions head meatballs $17.95: they make them large and fluffy here, goes great with rice. They took it off the menu for a couple years though brought them back in the last year and a half. - flounder filets in wine sauce $15.95: tender white fish with woodear mushrooms, a little heavy on the sauce thickener though overall tasty and fish never tastes fishy. - "crispy" deep fried flounder $23.95: kinda an American-Chinese take on battered and fried fish, tasty and a large serving that could feed 3-4. Not actually crispy if you take it to go since it's covered in sweet and sour sauce. - kungpao chicken $13.95: a decent preparation here, fair amount of diced chicken, savory with a hint of spicy. - sautéed spinach w/garlic $12.50 or sautéed water spinach with garlic $13.50: simple leafy veggies cooked well. Overall the serving sizes are reasonable for the price and area. Will be back! *general tsou's chicken is not real Chinese food, though I admit sometimes I order this myself and enjoy it :)

Very chewy and looks like old crispy, which is not crispy at all chicken

I used to love this place some time ago. It was one of the best Chinese reataurant in the neighborhood. After the chef was changed- the place got so much worse. I ordered crispy chicken today, which used to be great before. Now its not even possible to eat it- so disgusting. I wish old chef would return or somebody else was hired who can cook better. What a shame!

Soup dumplings had a flavorful broth, though scant in amount; each piece was ok the compact side. The dan dan noodles could've used more minced meat and sauce. The tofu lacked pepper and chili oil and was somewhat bland.

I ordered food delivery for a set time, and the delivery came right on time. The deliveryman was friendly, and it's nice to have such reliable and quick delivery service. It's always so nice to enjoy this food in the comfort of my home. I finally ordered the frozen Pork Dumplings and frozen Crystal Shrimp Dumplings. The pork dumplings had thick skin but was stuffed full of filling. Shrimp dumplings are my favorite order at dim sum, and I have a specific preferred flavor when it comes to crystal shrimp dumplings. These had that exact kind of flavor, so I was happy to find a delivery place that has good ones. There are whole shrimp pieces with skin that wasn't too thick or thin. The Pan Fried Pork Soup Dumplings were just as good as they were last time, but the Pan Fried Pork Buns surprisingly had just as much soup -- or was it just juiciness? -- as the Pan Fried Pork Soup Dumplings. Both have their different flavors, but I liked the Pan Fried Pork Bun flavor more. The bun was soft but not too thick.

The food is good but not too special. The soup dumpling skins were well made and thin, with a lot of soup inside, but the meat didn't have a great texture. The duck was solid, a little on the oily side for my tastes. The red bean puffs tasted good but weren't quite crispy enough.

The Bund had grand opening for their new American classic breakfast today, small and reasonable priced menu.

Just went to tried their Bund Toast, sooo delicious , they have cute menu, and their price so affordable especially with their 20% off, but is limited only.

Oh, and that's supposed to be the spicy chicken with hot peppers. Horrible. 3/9/25. Horrible.
    Sonia R.

Ok what the heck!!! I had been ordering the wonton in hot oil and fried rice and beef with hot pepper all the time but the last 3 times food sucked, not spicy at all , if anything sweet... Even though they'll ask you the spice level and every single time I always select very spicy but tell me why I feel I'm gonna catch diabetes!! So wanted to try one last time and give it a shot and guys don't waste your money. If you want your food to be extremely sweet then go ahead and if you want to pay $20 for a sprinkle of truffle in your fried rice, go ahead and if you want chicken that literally taste like sweet sauce and sesame Then go ahead. Oh, and I've only been there twice physically and let me tell you when you walk in. They're rude. They charge you a dollar for a teaspoon of hot oil to go. Hence I always decided to just order in and excused their rude behavior but now never again the food sucks and I'll be just throwing out $50 worth of food.

When is this place gonna reopen for takeout?

Hi Kevin We will open towards the end of next week, with new items and added Dimsum to serve our loyal customers. Thank you very much for supporting us , we will see you soon!

04/17 owner (David K.) admits here it's (covid) closed, 04/21 eater.com says it's takeout open, so which is it?

Yes the Bund is closed for now. Eater made an mistake because the restaurant that is still open is called Bundonbroadway located at Broadway in Astoria. TYVM

Does The Bund offer beer and wine? Thanks!

For dim sum, the carts are out and about with freshly steamed dishes. The cart ladies are so efficient. They will show you what they have and then push additional dishes on you to try. They are also motherly, urging you in Chinese to eat the food while the food is hot and not let it sit. They are sharp eyed, looking for diners who express interest in the dishes in their carts. It is a crowded, noisy, and wonderful place. You eat, look for dishes that catch your eye, and then eat some more. You also get to watch all the other diners enjoying food with their family and friends. For dinner, it was always done family style. We usually order lobster and shrimp dishes, as it is a seafood restaurant. However, all their other dishes are really good, so it is hard to say what is a favorite dish. Anyway, I encourage my friends to come here. I highly recommend Asian Jewels for the terrific food, great staff, and atmosphere.
