Sheng jian bao

Fantastic sheng jian bao, almost thought I was in Asia for a second. You know it's good when it's the main place in the food court with a line.

Pork dumpling

Came here for one of my food crawls in flushing and it did not disappoint! I loved the flavor of the soup inside each dumpling and it's so meaty! Very good for the price you pay. I will say they only have 1 sauce and I'm not a vinegar person so that's the only thing I have to say but other than that, loved the food! It's inside a food court so plenty of seating.

Pork buns 6 for $10

One of the busier stalls at the New World Mall is Liu Liu. Everyone gets the friend pork buns which are 6 for $10 or 8 for $12. Menu is in Chinese only but staff speaks English. Service is quick as the buns are ready to serve. Ample sauces. The buns are so hot (temperature wise) when you get them and are almost inedible unless you want to burn your face off. They're actually better in my opinion a hour later. Crunchy. Juicy. Overhyped. Yeah.

Shengjian bao

This place is legit. Nestled in one of the corners of New World Mall's basement food court, this spot is slinging shengjian baos like it's going out of style. They have two giant pans running to keep the bao production effective and it's definitely a sight to see. As with any spot in new world, you order and then fight for your life to find a table. $10 for 6 buns felt fairly priced. The buns are compact at first glance, but at first bite they're very generously filled with meat. Just be careful though, these things are soup filled and you won't want it exploding everywhere. That being said, the flavors and textures just work. Crispy bottom, soft top, and juicy/delicious meaty filling. What's not to love? Pour in some vinegar or chili oil to mix things up and you have a great snack/meal depending on your hunger levels. I could easily destroy all six, but I'd say this is best eaten as part of a food crawl with other people. Overall, 10/10 would recommend! Sure, the food court may be a bit overwhelming (especially during the weekend), but if you navigate correctly, you'll be rewarded with some great food!

$10 for 6 super juicy buns. These come out piping hot so do wait at least 10 minutes before biting into one or you'll burn the roof of your mouth. Recommend getting the spicy chili oil and vinegar and adding those to the buns. While waiting for the buns, if you've come in a group, search the food court for tables as it can be tough to find one. They take cash and card here so that's a plus in flushing.

The buns are absolutely delicious! I love the crispy golden bottoms. Just by looking at it you would never expect there to be soup inside but there is quite a bit and it was super flavorful. I do wish I grabbed more spicy chili sauce but now I know for next time, it just takes the flavor of the buns to a whole other level. The servers were nice and service was super quick. Definitely a must grab if you're ever at the new world mall!

Liu Liu Sheng Jian is clearly known for their pork buns, which they were slinging nonstop while I was there. That's always a good sign. The buns were authentic, flavorful and reasonably priced. Taste-wise, they were really good and had a nicely cooked exterior. Just a heads up: they're pretty greasy and very filling, so plan accordingly. One order goes a long way. It's located in a food court, so there's plenty of seating, which makes it easy to sit down and enjoy them while they're hot. If you're in the mood for something hearty and satisfying, this is a great stop.

Saw this place on social media and knew I had to check in out! At $10 for 6 pan fried buns, this is a pretty affordable option compared to a meal in Manhattan. Definitely get the vinegar and the chili oil that is next to the register. It really cuts through the richness of the buns. What's great about these buns is that they have soup inside, so I recommend the XLB style of biting one side, pouring the soup out onto a spoon, drinking the soup, and then eating the bun. Unfortunately it does get kind of heavy after eat more than 2-3, so if you are coming with friends, I recommend just one order (of 6 or 8) so that you can share, and hopefully to try the other stalls in the food court. I came alone and am from out of town, so I ended up eating it all and didn't have room to try the other places that also looked pretty good.

Pan fried soup dumplings, hot off this giant pot I mean, I can't complain! They were bursting with flavor. We waited a few minutes and it was ready. Be warned, the chili oil is spicy and the dumplings are hot temperature wise! It's located in an all Asian food court with lots of seating.

I got 6 piece Sheng Jian Baos for $10. They are located in a food court so there is lots of seating. The service was very quick and no-frills. The sheng jian baos were steaming hot with lots of soup inside! The filling was plentiful, and the wrapper is thing. The bottom is perfectly crispy. Personally, I like the outside being more like a fluffy bao, but this was a great contender!

Easy to order and made fresh right in front of you! For $10 you get 6 crispy bottom pork buns. They're super savory, satisfying, and an easy hit. The wrapper isn't too thick but thin enough that it doesn't overwhelm the juicy pork filling. I was also impressed because they're filled with soup (be careful and don't burn yourself!) but the bottoms somehow stay crispy. Self serve soy sauce and chili oil.

Keepin it real out here in NWM We actually had this spot catered for our wedding day breakfast, wasn't amazing cause of takeout, but having it right then and there, while theyre hot a steamy hits different. Always soupy and boiling hot. Always has a line now so... be prepared

We finally came with a large group to try this place out. We opted for the 8 baos for $12. It was underwhelming. The dough felt too thick and undercooked. The bottoms could've been crispier. They were a little messy to eat. The flavor was okay. I think maybe it's just not our preferred style of baos, but I would've preferred a thicker fluffier bao or a thinner crisper shell.

The pan fried buns here are good, juicy on the inside and the bottom is slightly crispy. Probably about as good as you can get in the U.S.

Luckily, there was only a short wait for our party of two at around 12pm...but I suspect the wait can be much longer later in the afternoon or during peak dinner times. Once your number is called, you go up some stairs to the eating/tabled area. There are tables and chairs for 2, 4 and more guests throughout the large space. The pace of the restaurant is very fast...as soon as you are seated, you are given tea and your waiter comes over right away to take any order you are ready to give. Its helpful to ask for a menu while you are waiting for a table so you know what to order when asked. We had some soup dumplings as well as a (large) soup. Everything was very good and out in about 15 minutes...very fast. The soup dumplings were great...but as expected are filled with piping hot broth so be careful when eating. They have some other appetizers and dishes available. There are also some drink options including cold teas, soft drinks and beer. Overall a great experience...despite visiting on a busy Saturday, we were in and out in about 40-45 minutes. Street parking can be tough in the area but there are a few garages around...one of the more reasonable options is the garage at the Skyview shops which currently charge about $6 for up to three (3) hours and is a short 5 minute walk away.

Another great pickup, another awesome packaging job…read more Driving 15 mins home and food still arrives hot and crispy. Udon noodles are delicious, rolls are crispy, xiao long bao are the best in Flushing, IMO. Ordering online from their website is best, plan to allow 30 minutes for your order to be ready. They'll email you when it's ready. Until the next great meal!!!!

The filling was decent, but the vinegar on the side was too mild. I'm used to a darker, more robust vinegar with XLB, so this didn't quite hit. Braised pork - very tender and flavorful, served with quail eggs. This was one of the stronger dishes. Yangzhou fried rice - not too oily which I liked, but served with only 5 an small shrimps... Sweet & sour shredded potato (cold dish) - slightly spicy, I really enjoyed this one. It was part of a promo where you can get it for $1 when you spend $30 on entrees, so definitely worth adding. Overall, I enjoyed the meal. Not everything stood out, but it's solid enough that I'd recommend it, and I'd come back to try more of the menu.

However, recently it's been hit or miss. Today was both - the garlic pork belly cold dish was super tasty! The garlic chili oil was spicy, sweet and fragrant. The pork bun ( I have eaten at almost every establishment that serves pork buns in flushing) was disgusting. The pork was almost grey and the it smelled like it was a day away from spoiling. It's really hard to justify a bad experience like this when there are literal hundreds of flushing vendors that serve the exact same cuisine with better quality control. Catch me a Zie Wei Xiao Chi next time I'm in the mood for a pork bun.
