The California omelette was delicious but the potatoes were not. The coffee was good as was our service. It is nice inside and there is easy parking.
Nice spot to grab breakfast with both tons of space and tons of options on the menu. We didn't have to wait long at all on a Saturday morning, and the service was prompt and friendly throughout. I had a veggie omelette, breakfast potatoes, and an English muffin. All pretty standard fare, and all pretty good! Nothing was insanely wowing, but it all really hit the spot. I also went all-in on a dirty chai since we're pretending it's fall already, and that was surprisingly good as well. Not too sweet, and loaded with caffeine. Bonus points to them for being directly across the street from the hotel we were staying at. Just a nice, classic, quality breakfast spot.
YUM! Loved our meal here. This place is massive, so even though it was busy, we got our name in and waited less than 10 minutes. SPACE This place is huge but still feels cozy! Tons of different nooks and rooms, all decorated well. SERVICE Service was a highlight here - efficient but friendly and very personable! FOOD Their breakfast/brunch menu is where it's AT. I had a hard time narrowing things down, but got the Ole skillet with chorizo and a side of tortillas and it was incredible. I love that they have so many gluten free options - so great! I didn't get a drink, but saw many people at tables around us drinking iced coffee from MASSIVE mason jars. Love it. This is a must for brunch in Boulder!
Eat in The Buff! 30 years running, The Buff Restaurant continues to be one of the busiest places to eat in Boulder. After a recent stay across the street, I ate here two mornings in a row for breakfast. The first morning, we were able to snag a seat quickly. The second morning, I dined in solo a little bit closer to brunch hour and after a few minutes I was able to snag a coveted seat at the bar. I commend the front of house team, especially the hostesses, for managing this busy busy BUSY line of people with total ease. True hospitality professionals. Sitting at the bar, I watched them deal with all kinds of people; mostly pushy, hungover, or impatient people who wanted their table ASAP. They deserve a raise! When it comes to food, no one leaves here hungry. Portions are large and so is the menu. Is it revolutionary? No, but it's consistent and well-prepared breakfast food. +American Skillet // Potatoes, diced onions, and blended cheddar cheese. Simple, yet tasty. My eggs came out the way I like them, toast was buttered, and I doused the whole thing with Cholula. This is the kind of breakfast I'll make at home, this is what the doctor ordered. +Steak & Eggs // Top sirloin breakfast steak and eggs with choice of toast. Massive portion...of course I cleaned the plate. Little outdated with the greens and orange slice garnish, why is it there??? No one eats it! I asked for medium rare and got medium. Could've used more seasoning, but once it combined with the potatoes and eggs we were cooking. A solid dish that cured the craving. Service was great all the way around and I think this is what they do best. Serving this many people in such a short span (7am-2pm) is tough work. I applaud the operators for running a tight ship! The Buff is a reliable breakfast spot in Boulder!
Great food and friendly service. Although there is usually a wait, the wait goes quick, so don't let it discourage you from going there! They have a lovely dining room with a good atmosphere and a large menu with lots of variety. We love the Buff! (Also the $0.99 mimosas and bloody Mary's are so fun!)
This place is a Boulder staple and "iconic" or so I've been told. Went here for a work lunch and it was relatively busy. It's primary focus is brunch. Hours are 7-2 everyday to give to you an idea of menu items. They have a crazy drink special where it's 99 cents for a Bloody Mary, mimosa, or tequila sunrise (all on tap) with the purchase of an entree. We had the cheeseburger and B L T T. It was decent, but next time I'll go for the breakfast items as I think that's where they shine.
The most wonderful breakfast restaurant!! On our 5 day stay to Colorado Springs, we drove two hours twice to have The Buff. We ordered the Two Step (which has delicious house potatoes, perfect pancakes, and the best bacon) and the Biscuits and Gravy. Absolutely delicious!! The service is great, too. Even with a wait, we were seated quickly and the food came out faster than we could believe!! Very cozy vibes. Wish we lived closer or had one in Michigan!
Decided to do a little road trip over to Boulder this morning at The Buff Restaurant. We got there around 9:30AM and was shocked to see how busy it is. Not because it's so good, but thought with the university out for summer it would be less busy. I put my name in and was pleasantly surprised it was only a 10 minute wait. Our waiter was friendly and very chatty which was nice. I got the Rustic Benedict which was really good. The only thing I would do differently is get rid of the bacon. The chopped of bacon crumbled reminded me to much of bacon bits. It was still very good and definitely a much have for someone who like a good comfort food.
The service gets five stars, they are always so friendly here. The ambience and food is closer to 3 to 4 stars, more of a fun place rather than a craving something specific place. But they have all the basics of breakfast and lunch and they work hard to manage the crowds. We eat here every couple of weeks.
If you're looking for a good, classic brunch spot, the Buff is your spot. They've got every classic brunch element covered: seasonal-flavored pancakes, fresh squeezed oj, hearty skillets, healthy lighter options. We ordered the Matterhorn and olé skillets - both really delicious, I wish the potatoes were cooked a tiny bit more. We also got the classic eggs benedict which was perfect. We ordered yummy seasonal lattes that weren't too sweet which was nice. The service was quick and friendly.
Molly was so kind and patient. I asked for samples of the chili was really good. I had the French toast with fried chicken and potatoes a little piece of pineapple and strawberry and maple syrup. They had dollar bloody Mary's and dollar mimosa with entrée my daughter's friend got this delicious looking coffee that could probably feed two or three people. The food was good. The service was good. Homemade ketchup.
While in Colorado, my family and I stopped in for brunch. The weather was perfect and they have a great patio area! They have a large menu with a lot of options for those with dietary restrictions, too. Lastly, they have $0.99 bloody Mary's, mimosas, or tequila sunrises (with purchase of an entree, limit of 3 drinks per person). Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

While traveling for work. I asked where I should eat and this was their first recommendation. Let's be honest, "Eating in the BUFF!" is a great slogan. I came for the breakfast and was glad I did. I tried another local spot but The Buff is much better. I ordered "The Med" omelet w/potatoes, a bagel, cream cheese and preserves. An orange juice and coffee. The OJ was good but next time I'll order the pint, because the small is basically a shot glass for the amount that I normally drink. I did not have to look far to see that the staff seemed to enjoy working here as it showed in their service. The restaurant was very clean and the service was much faster than I had expected. With the number of guests, I anticipated waiting longer for my food. However when it came out, it was quick, hot, fresh, flavorful and enough to fill just about any appetite. Thank you The BUFF for a little chuckle from the name but also a great place to visit next time I'm in town. read more

I am currently in a food coma state since I had no self control on my shameless gluttony. Well this is a rare feeling if you are gluten free, and dairy free. I usually come to the buff to celebrate special days, and not at all because of the price, but just because of the ambiance and vibe. It feels traditional yet casual... kind of the feeling you get during holidays. It is also one of the few places in Boulder that attracts families.... And no it's not just CU Boulder students. It's a great mix of all sorts of people that makes Boulder, well Boulder. We ordered: 1/2 caffeine oat milk latte GFO Ole skillet GFO French toast & fried chicken All are 5 stars. I have not had fried chicken this good and GF. They mentioned that they make crumbs out of their GF bread. The flavor and texture was perfection. Reminded me of the south. If you can't find GF chicken & waffles, then this is the next best thing. They did ask if we are celiac and we are not, I am not sure how that changes things... maybe just the oil they fry in? Ole is a delicious & popular skillet if you love southwest flavors. The coffee is pretty good too, not the best in Boulder since we have so many epic coffee shops. But it's still a good cup of latte, and I'd order it if I am there for breakfast. The wait. We went there after a hike between 9 and 9:15am on a Saturday morning and our wait was around 15 minutes or less. I think thats kind of like the cut off. It you go there after 9:30am especially on a Saturday... it will get crowded and you will have a longer wait. Parking can also be a problem after 9:00am but we have gotten lucky and always find a spot... the only available spot. This breakfast costed us $41, and honestly it could feed 3 people. The staff is absolutely lovely and very patient esp. considering how busy it gets on Saturday mornings. read more

What a delicious lunch! The Burger and the Vegan Skillet were both very delicious! The ambiance is awesome and the service very friendly and prompt! Highly recommend for a weekend brunch or lunch! read more

Great location, great service, but no buffalo burger?! We stopped here while passing through town specifically because I thought they'd have a Bison Burger (it is a buffalo themed restaurant after all). I was very disappointed to learn that they don't, however the rest of the experience was good. I opted for the Huevos Rancheros which were great. They also offer $.99 mimosas or tequila sunrise with your meal (max 3). The interior was clean and comfortable, and our server was super friendly. I would recommend this place and stop again if in town. Really wish they had a bison burger though. read more

Delicious eatery with a large menu of options. Everything sounded amazing but I opted for the Vegan Buffaquiles. I pretty much inhaled it! There are several vegetarian options (this is the only dish that had vegan in the name). Everyone else in my party enjoyed what they had which ranged from a turkey club to chicken & French toast. The best part of coming around brunch time is the 99¢ drinks. Yes, you read that correctly. You can order up to 3 mimosas, bloody marys, or tequila sunrises. Cheers! read more

I ate in the Buff, ok now that we've got that out of the way. This is actually a kid friendly place, I say that because they had tables set up in the atrium for toy donations to kids displaced by the wild fire. At first I thought they were actually selling them but then I read the sign and it touched my heart how the community was there for them. We came back to eat a second time, I liked the French Toast I had the first, but didn't want that to be my only impression so, I got the Chicken & French Toast. It comes with hash brown potatoes on the side which amounts to a good deal of food. The coffee is a little expensive but it's free refills and they're generous enough to offer to fill up your thermos if you bring one. read more

This is one of the more popular breakfast spots in Boulder... but not the absolute best. We got the Veggie Omelette, a scrambler and the pecan quesadillas. The pecan quesadilla was a little too fried for my preference, but everything else was average. The people were very nice and the line was long to get in on a weekend. I would recommend Snooze over the Buff! read more
This place was a pleasant surprise! My girl and I were passing through Boulder to head to the Rockies and were needing some good food. The Buff did not disappoint! This is definitely a local college hangout and has great vibes from the moment you walk in. I was nursing a pretty serious hangover and was pleased to see that they offered $1 bloody maries and mimosas! I ased for extra spicy on the bloody and it was delicious. And for a dollar, can you beat it? We both ordered one of their scrambles, I forgot what mine was called but it had mushrooms and was delicious! If you're visiting Boulder or even just passing through, you need to stop here and check it out. Waiter was awesome and gave me some good recommendations for local "produce." read more

I was really excited to visit after completing a sunrise hike in the Boulder area -- we were super hungry and saw the great reviews. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as an expansive drink and food menu. My friend, who is vegan, also had several options to choose from. I ordered one of their specialty coffees topped with whipped cream -- they offer milk substitutes for no charge too! However, the coffee just tasted average, but looked beautiful. For almost $7, I would've preferred something stronger, more fragrant, or unique. As for the meal, we both ordered their chimi (vegan and non-vegan) which is a fried burrito topped with cheese, salsa verde, and served with rice and beans. Once again, it was average. The portion size was decent, but the taste wasn't memorable or amazing. However, I was very impressed by our server. She noticed my Florida drivers license, struck up conversation, and frequently checked up on us. Overall, Buff is a dependable restaurant, but not my top choice! read more
Two choices, two winners. I had a gruyere, mushroom, Canadian bacon omelet with roasted potatoes and an English muffin. The bacon added a smoky salty taste, and the other components shined as well. My wife had lemon rind, pecan pancakes. It had great flavor but was dry until she added syrup. Then it became moist with a nice crunch from the pecans. If you sign in on Yelp, you get to chose between a free mimosa or bloody mary. read more

I went here for the first time and absolutely loved it. The service was amazing. Our waitress was so kind. The food was some of the best food i've had. It all was top tier quality. The lemonade is to die for. The ambiance is nice and rustic almost. It was an amazing experience and I'll definitely be back!! read more
My friend is a picky eater, but she even liked this place, so that says something! We shared a chicken and French toast from the griddle collection of the menu and a Chai iced tea as well. I'm so glad we shared everything because the portions are huge! The chai tea was delicious and came in a giant mason jar. The French toast came with battered chicken, two strips of bacon, and homestyle fries.This dish was very tasty and so filling. There are so many different menu options to choose from. The look and feel of the restaurant is nice as well. We are on vacation and found this restaurant from other reviews on Yelp and are so glad that we did. We would certainly return if we are ever back in Boulder. read more
Stopped in here during a very quick morning trip to Boulder based on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! It has a spacious but cozy interior, including fire places. Our waitress was so friendly too! The food is the reason for the 4 star vs 5. It was average. It wouldn't keep me away. One thing is that they were very large portions, so prepare yourself! Even the latte I got was so large. I laughed when they sat is down. It was very delicious! read more

The food and service were amamzing!! The yogurt is made in house and absolutely incredible. The skillet was very good, perfect mix of potatoes egg and chille. The food also came out very fast, atmosphere is excellent also. Would reccomend to anyone looking for breakfast in Boulder CO. read more
Great place! There is a long wait on the weekends but that's typical for all brunch places in the area. Servers and staff were all very nice. Got the white buffalo which is a iced white mocha. It was very tasty and it's huge! You can also get 99 cent mimosas and bloody mary's which is a great deal. My boyfriend got the bloody mary and enjoyed it. The food came out super fast. I got the blueberry pancakes which were so big and very tasty. My boyfriend got the matterhorn scramble and enjoyed it. Good vibes! read more

A cute brunch spot downtown Boulder! We were lucky to get in quick after a morning hike in Chataqua. Convenient to other cute shops on Pearl Street and the food was great - definitely big portions. The only reason we didn't give a full 5 stars was the mimosa was on the smaller side for the price point. read more

We came here after an early morning hike in the Boulder area. It was around 10am and already very packed, so we got lucky in that our party of 3 was seated right away. I ordered a cold brew which was perfectly strong and delicious. For my entree, I got the chorizo chimmi with no beans. Portions were huge! I did enjoy the chimmi but felt that it wasn't as packed with ingredients as it could have been. I had a lot of excess skin that I discarded. Overall a decent meal and decent service! read more
