Visited this spot when I was in the area recently as I only had a little time for lunch. I went with the smoked salmon plate - it was fresh and delicious (however, I didn't need the parchment below the food - it made it hard to cut the salmon or bagel and just made a mess). I never know this restaurant was here and have passed many times - it's definitely worth a stop (it's not a huge spot so I've heard it can get really busy). I feel if they were served with an aioli the flavor may be much better. My main dish was the catfish with eggs and hash. The fish was very well seasoned but the eggs I ordered scrambled with cheese as well as the hash with cheese was horrible. They slapped a slice of American cheese on top of half of the side of eggs and a slice on top of the hash. The hash wasn't seasoned at all. I don't use salt on my food but that day I tried and that didn't help at all. I was disappointed as I expected to be blown away from all the hype from the reviews and even from the owner. We understood the restaurant closed at a certain time. We understood , we would not be able to "microwave" our food if we ordered for them and it was cold. But who says that. That was a first for me. I never knew people would ask for their food to be microwaved at a restaurant that should be serving hot food but OK. We understood very clearly and was very polite with everyone. We honestly should've left and found another place to eat. However, to our surprise everything closes relatively early in Chicago. Anyways , he was very rude and as a business owner myself knowing how to talk to people is KEY. You can tell his employees (2 young females) wanted to help and accommodate us as best as they could but they were SCARED of the owner and his "strict polices". The chalkboard menu reminded me a lot of batters and berries so I wonder if this place is owned or run by one of the former chefs there. They offered a lot of brunch favorites that I typically would like as well as their special menu. But I was really disappointed to see that they were using AI menus. I'm not one of those people who shuns AI for everything but something about AI food menus. I truly do not like because the food does not look like what you actually get. Would recommend (brunch). Stopped by over on the north side for a nice Saturday afternoon brunch, right away you can see the vibrant decor they have. They have outside and inside seating with open window concepts on the side booths (with no bug issues surprisingly). We did not have reservations (they are not on OpenTable, unsure if they do reservations; can double check me though) but were able to be sat right away seeing that it was only 2 people (may have been like 10-15 min wait if not). We were met by our server We started with the Mimosa Flight that came with 4 flavors of mimosas to choose from (Peach, Dragon fruit, Pomegranate, Cranberry), is honestly able to be shared between 2 people as that's what we did but I do recommend getting your own if you are coming there for a good time (one more flight would've gave us a good time if you know what I mean lol); so many mimosa flavors to choose from. For the food, they had a special French toast of the week which was the Oreo-theme French Toast that I wanted to try but could not be due to having nut allergy and they made the specialty French toasts on the same cook station as the other ones that posed a cross-contamination risk. I hate that I missed out on it due to that issue, just something to think about if you have food allergy and wanting to order particular menu items, but I still found an amazing dish, nonetheless. Pancakes had perfect consistency; they weren't too sweet, which I actually appreciated, and had a butter on the side that was absolutely amazing. The eggs were also scrambled well, the cheese was incorporated in chunks which was questionable but didn't really ruin the eggs at all. The meal was good nonetheless; they seem to have very good menu items (overall rating: 9.3/10) Furthermore, I would recommend this place if you want a good Black-owned brunch restaurants with even better drinks and vibes. We showed up with a group of 6 and were able to get a table outside in the shade right away. The espresso martinis were delicious. My tuna melt was excellent and we all loved the breakfast corn dogs. However, upon entering, we weren't given a warm greeting or acknowledgment, which was disappointing. As a Black-owned establishment, I really wanted to feel that sense of warmth and hospitality from the moment we walked in, and unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. The restaurant was also extremely busy and very loud. The staff seemed to be constantly running around, which made it difficult for them to provide attentive service. We ordered several items from the specialty menu: the red snapper with potatoes, oxtails with purple grits, jumbo lump crab cakes, and deviled eggs. Overall, the food was decent, but everything came out warm rather than hot, which made it feel like it had been sitting for a while. The deviled eggs were overly seasoned, while the rest of our dishes could have used more seasoning. Our waiter was super nice! I'm sorry I can't remember his name. Despite how busy it was, he had a great attitude, and I'd be willing to give this place another chance, especially if he were our waiter again. Also, be aware that an automatic 18% gratuity is added to the bill. I wasn't necessarily upset about it, but I would prefer the option to determine my own gratuity based on the customer service experience I receive. The flight of French toast?! Amazing! 1 million. I was surprised at how amazing it was. All of them, every darn flavor was just dreamy. All of us ordered the chicken and waffles and we really enjoyed it. The waffle comes with a chipotle hot sauce syrup that's interesting. Waffle is nice, it does have a lot of all spice so if you are ok with that, it's cool. Chicken was flavorful and seasoned well. Service was great. We really liked our server as she was very attentive and pleasant. Gratuity is already added in the bill which is cool. Parking is tough! You will circle to find parking a bit but go as early as you can and park by McDonald's. Sundays free parking! read more

Came here with a friend at 10:30am on a Saturday and there was no wait for a table which was amazing. We sat outside and the ambiance was ok, the seating was a little outdated but the area is nice. The service was amazing and quick. I got the nova lox sandwich and it came on a board so I could build it myself and this was delicious and an amazing idea! I loved putting my sandwich together and the ingredients all tasted fresh. My friend liked the fruit and said the waffle was tasty. The French toast flight also looked amazing, but we decided to not do a heavy sweet breakfast and I was still impressed with their other food options. Overall: great brunch spot in Lincoln Park that's reasonably priced with good service. Would definitely come back. read more
