    Crescent jambalaya with chicken
    NiNi F.

I can't give my opinion on service because I got my food to go. I've been having a taste for jambalaya lately and ordered here to go. I ordered the crescent jambalaya and added chicken. I'm so disappointed in the quality of the food. The chicken is dry. The sausage was good by itself. I'm aware the rice is cooked in a tomato broth but all I taste is tomato. The jambalaya it's self has no flavor. The amount of food received is good for price but there's no flavor to this.

    Happy Hour Every Day 4-6

Storyville popped up on one of my social media pages. I immediately added this to my list of places to visit. One weekend I was in the downtown area and decide to see what the hype was about. It was Happy Hour as well. I loved the red plush couches. I walked inside and this place was lit. I waited until I was seated at the bar. It was packed with people celebrating birthday's. Music was loud and the patrons were loud. After, I was seated the friendly bartender came over with a glass of water and menu. I didnt have to wait long to place my order. I ordered the catfish nuggets and fries. Their machine for the frozen cocktail was out of order that day. For dessert I ordered the sweet and savory beignets $2.00 each. I like the New Orleans decor theme and intimate setting. The food wasn't what I expected. My catfish nuggets wasnt fully cooked and had a bad fishy taste. My beignets were semi hard and wasn't tasty. The 2 stars are for the wonderful service of the bartender and the nice decor. The food was disappointing and the music was way too loud. The atmosphere has more of a club vibe than a restaurant.

I love this place. They have great food. I will admit that I prefer the dinner menu over the brunch menu. I also love the live music and the fact that it is the speakeasy. It is dark and Moody with knives to New Orleans wish I love. The staff is always friendly and communicative and accommodating.

My boyfriend and I were on vacation and were excited to try Storyville based off the raving reviews. This place did not disappoint and I'm still thinking about the food we had. We were redirected to check out the "speakeasy" located downstairs which had its own bar and sitting area. It was a little smaller and gave vampire lair which was a vibe. I had the red fish étouffée and the fish was so tender. Everything on my plate was flavored to perfection . My boyfriend had the red fish jambalaya which is basically the highlight of our trip whenever someone asks about it.

Valentines Day wasn't what I expected at all trying Storyville for the 2nd time! Arriving 5mins late after our reservation it was cancelled before my kid and I even arrived! I let the establishment know ahead of time that I would be late due to untimed traffic but to my surprised we arrived right before the reservation well, five minutes later. As we approached the front desk I let the lady know it was a reservation and of course no reservations were found or could not be found. A few minutes later another lady approached us at the front desk and she then stated "oh that reservation I canceled it" and I then asked her why when we are here. She said we don't hold reservations after 15minutes, must I remind you it was 5 mins after and still she repeated the statement before. How petty could she have been...five minutes come on. Not to mention, she was embarrassed to say she had already cancelled the reservation when I sent my message prior to the present conversation. With the staring contest upon us, she then tells the hostess to check us in and she begins to seat us at the furthest table in the corner as possible! How disappointing and rude of the server. As she begins to seat us, she then says you ONLY have an hour as we have other reservations.....AS IF I DIDNT HAVE ONE EITHER! A joke I tell you! I then asked for a glass of water for my child and I. We then proceeded to leave. I don't respect or honor that type of behavior nor mannerisms. I don't care how famous or popular a place is. Customers is what keeps the business running. Food for thought. I often wonder if Donna I believe the server named. I wonder if he has cancel others reservations before waiting till the actual time of reservation to modify. I will not be back and I will never spend my money here. The first & LAST time! Plenty of creole Joints in Chi Town!

September of 2024 I landed in Chicago for my daughter's Navy graduation, Yes my baby is a United States Sailor. After making our way through the city from Navy Pier on foot we finally decided on this resturant, and I have to say hands down Chicago has some of the best tasting food, except their pizza. Omg I got teary eyed saying goodbye to my steak. It was literally the best steak of my entire life. Service was so amazing. The interior was like nothing I'd ever seen for a resturant and they have a lounge downstairs with live music. The drinks are a 6 out of 10 but all I cared about was the food. My daughter's plate was incredible, so was her virgin berry mule. This place is phenomenal, a true treasure in Chicago.

Had a great birthday happy hour for this girl at Storyville. One of her favorite places.

Best beignets I have ever had in Chicago. Really nice bartenders and wait staff. Even though they were preparing for a big special night, they took great care of us at happy hour. Wonderful small plates for happy hour.

We thoroughly enjoyed an early evening dinner here recently. The space is dark and woody. Music was New Orleans jazzy wonderfulness, and the decor consisted of rotating old timey Mardi Gras photos. Fun, fun, fun! The craft cocktails here were terrific. I recommend the "Bayou Margarita" with mezcal for its fresh, tangy smoke flavors. The Savory Beignet appetizer came to us hot, crispy and full of goodness! My House Salad with Ranch dressing was well balanced and large enough to be filling. My companion loved his Shrimp Po Boy sandwich with housemade crispy fries. Recommended.

The yummy Bourbon Street Old Fashioned! $16

Came in with my wife past 7pm on a Thursday night. Not super busy and dinner service winding down. Wife had the Jambalaya, a bit too spicy for her, but very good. She liked it as it wasn't "runny". I had the Seafood Gumbo and much I thought it was awesome, just the right size and not just a bunch of rice thrown on top. Full of seafood and sausage. The added fresh beignet was like a dessert! I also had the yummy Bourbon Street Old Fashioned which hit the spot. Our waitress was nice and attentive until the very end as she had some friends at the bar it appeared :-) The walls had cool framed TV screens with some period pictures that made things interesting. Although the last TV frame appeared to be set for horizontal instead of vertical display. Found street parking around the corner on Clark. Probably not that easy on a Friday or weekend night. Not super expensive like many places downtown. We will be back.

Sweet Beignet ($2 each during happy hour)

Came here for happy hour and had a great time! We arrived just a bit before the end up happy hour (around 5:40) and were able to get seated and put in a full round of happy hour items. The happy hour menu includes discounted house cocktails and frozen drinks (frozen marg or hurricane), and a nice selection of small plates and shareable items including a 50% discount on all of their regular menu shareable plates which are basically appetizers. To drink, my wife got the bayou margarita which was refreshing and a bit fruity, while I got the $6 happy hour old fashioned which was a steal and didn't skimp on the alcohol. We split a bunch of food including the happy hour wings and fries plate, one savory and one sweet beignet, Cajun chicken arancini, cornbread, and off the normal menu a cup of gumbo. The chicken wings were a half order which means only 4 wings, but they were surprisingly big and fried until crisp outside but juicy inside. The chicken arancini were interesting, with a creamy savory filling but most of the flavor came from the thickened etoufee sauce they're served with. The gumbo was pretty watery and didn't seem to have a good roux for a base but was spiced and seasoned well, pairing well with the rice and the savory beignet it comes with. The real standouts, though, were the cornbread which came with a huge portion of 5 big chunks all glazed with an addicting honey butter sauce, and the savory beignet which came with a cup of their addicting creamy intensely savory crawfish cheese sauce. Aside from the gumbo, I only ate from the happy hour menu so I can't comment on the full dinner service; the cocktails seem a bit pricy but the dinner options looked and smelled good when the diners around us ordered them. However, the happy hour options alone are definitely worth a visit!

Came here for happy hour on my bestie's birthday trip. The staff was amazing and let us sit inside even though they weren't open to the public yet. The drinks were bomb! We didn't eat but the friends of ours that did loved their food. The vibe gives very much "Nola speakeasy". Would definitely return.

I took my Mother here yesterday for a Pre-Mother's Day Brunch. The greeter Sophie is sooooo sweet, and personable. Donnie was amazing, our servers I forgot their names but they were great! I had the shrimp skillet BEYOND 10/10 the seasoning, HUGE shrimp , a few vegetables....so yummy for the seafood lovers. My Mom had a breakfast platter along with a side of grits and listen the grits are a flavorful type of grits. If you're looking for an intimate, brunch place that has 90 mins of unlimited mimosas and New Orleans type food and feel. This is the place for YOU! Storyville gets 10 I'll def be back because I want to check out the live music band

    bar area, love it

All the premier dinners come with salad, cheese, fondue, and the chocolate fondue - You are just choosing what protein you would like. The Prince Geja combination has a little bit of everything. However, we most liked the seafood which includes lobster and the scallops were to die for! Also the beef also cooks well. Favorite dipping sauce included the pimento mayo, chimichurri, and garlic butter. The cheese fondue is quite rich and the bread is quite filling so maybe get as much cheese as you can on each piece of bread. The chocolate fondue, I think is actually the best course as the Belgium chocolate melts so well and has a decadent but not overly sweet flavor. It pairs well with all that is provided for dipping, which includes poundcake, rice Krispies, strawberries. They also have some liquor that they light on fire at first so you can roast the marshmallows. It is such a well thought out experience. Service flows very well from two waiters who take your order set up your fondue pots for each course, but be prepared to spend at least 2 hours on this experience. Check out the Groupon but also I read a review that they just tack on the extra $50 so it's not really too much of a savings. Not sure if this is true.

Also appreciated that they were accommodating for the vegetarian in our party. Everything except the cheese course can be made vegan friendly as well. The service was top notch! They were quick to refill items and answer any questions we had. The location is classic fondue restaurant, cozy and romantic. However, also perfect for catching up with a friend. Back Again - Gemini Pt 2, but this time for brunch!…read more I enjoyed my first dinner experience here so much last week that we had to come right back to try their weekend brunch. From the start, the hostesses were inviting and lovely. The restaurant is very pretty, warmly blending a modern style with a touch of classic French bistro elegance. I'm mostly so impressed with how versatile the restaurant actually can be, shifting seamlessly from an elegant, upscale dinner setting with its beautiful U-shaped marble bar to a bright, whimsical, and enchantingly airy brunch setting. The fully opened bifold windows are adjacent to the pergola-topped patio, letting a glorious, cascading breeze drift through the space to create a wonderful indoor-outdoor flow and a lively weekend energy. Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered: Super Green Vegetable Salad: The kale, broccoli, avocado, asparagus, and peas were crisp and fresh. We loved this so much during our first dinner visit last week that we had to order it again for brunch! Spectacular! Nova Lox Platter: The wild salmon topped with diced red onion, capers, and hard-boiled egg crumble, served with an everything bagel and a side of chive cream cheese, was excellent. French Onion Frittata: The rich gruyère and caramelized onions were wonderful. If you're a French onion soup lover like me, this is a can't-miss!! Definitely will be reordered and often. Fantastic! Daily Omelette: Ordered from the special menu, featuring black truffle salsa, mascarpone, and Calabrian chile honey. It was absolutely phenomenal, perfectly cooked, and the flavor combination was incredible. Our server, Sarah, was excellent and made the experience even better - we even share the same name! The management team was also incredibly warm and attentive, stopping by our table to welcome us back. Returning twice in one week says it all. This restaurant has made it into my regular rotation and is hands down one of my new favorites!

I came here with three others and we all ordered different things from the brunch menu along with a few drinks. The atmosphere here is open, modern, and pretty eye catching, we all heard a few negative comments about brunch here and rather than just taking words of advice we came anyways. To be honest we should've went elsewhere, the only thing about the food that actually seemed to have any flavor was the fries and even they were a little salty like my wallet when we left LOL The Jumbo (not so much) Lump Crab Benedict at $25 was honestly boring lacking any flavor also it didn't even come with potatoes I ended up sharing my Lincoln Park Turkey Club that was good but even it was pretty basic at $21, the Burger at $21 literally looked like something off the kids menu the bun was bigger than the patty LOL and the Blackened Chicken Caesar at $19 was more like an appetizer size and the chicken at least it was juicy not dry. Other reviews about brunch here seem to be about the same and honestly I think it's funny they don't even try to elevate their food when so many say about the same things. I think the only reason why people come to this place is 1. It's located in Lincoln Park and 2. that makes it a trendy spot to eat. So why bother fixing anything when it's just trendy and flavorless Their brunch is mediocre but apparently dinner is where it's at. However after the experience with brunch I'm not even sure I would even go back. Come here for the staff eat at your own expense maybe your food will have flavor or not but honestly do what you want and keep it trendy

That is to say: I am not throwing words of praise like "one of a kind" and "phenomenal" around lightly. Both are different and still amazing. Sparrow has a vibe straight out of the 1920s. The decor, signage, use of color, and absence of screens or TV's all contribute to the theme. The music is also appropriate and plays at the perfect volume to be pleasant without forcing one to raise their voice. I tried the Green Daisy and a House Old Fashioned. The Green Daisy was boozy and had some herbaceous notes. A little tartness and a little sweetness helped balance the drink out and make for a phenomenal sipper. I loved the creativity with this one! The House Old Fashioned was also well done, assembled with quality ingredients in balance with one another. Nothing wrong with a well-executed classic. The prices are more or less reasonable considering the location and overall market, with bevies costing around $16. The bar staff is excellent! Very friendly and welcoming! Final verdict: A spot where I can say come for the drinks and stay for the vibe. It's the kind of place where walking in you are transported a century into the past. Everything about the experience, including the atmosphere, drinks, service, and prices, is calling me to return and bring some people with me.
