She waited in line since 11:30am and got seated around 12pm... We were ALL greeted upon entry. The hostess explained about some items that are sold out for the day... CORN & POTATOES: 10/10 I enjoyed the side items the most. The potato and corn were cooked perfectly and had a very nice flavor when consumed with the sauce included in the bag... KING CRAB: 7/10 For $90/lb it should have NOT been overcooked and there should be a good amount of sauce. Because it was overcooked it was so dry and chewy. We were hungry so we ate it anyways... SNOW CRAB: 8/10 The snow crab was a bit more moist than the King crab but, it still could have been juicier. Even the BUFFETS make it juicier. The food has gone down hill it seems... SWEET POTATO FRIES: 8/10 Thin and crispy. It was edible but, we didn't finish it... BANG BANG SHRIMP: 9/10 It was flavorful but, I could not eat more than 2 pieces because I have to watch my CHOLESTEROL level... ONION RINGS: 8/10 It came out sour for some reason? We recently dined here after dining at the rosemead location for years and had a frustrating wait. We placed a simple order: no appetizers or anything complicated just 1.5 lb shrimp, some potatoes and corn, but ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food. 3 tables that sat down after us were served w their food before we were. The table next to us, who arrived after us, had already received their food and eaten more than half of it before we got anything, which made the wait feel even longer. It honestly seemed like our order may have been missed or something. That said, our first server left during our visit, and the second server we had was great and very kind. I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. While eating, I found a hard rock/plastic-like object inside the food. This is a serious food safety issue. I have photos and video proof of everything. This could have caused serious injury if swallowed. Very disappointed with the restaurant's quality control and hygiene standards. Great eating experience! We had 1 lb of shrimp and a shrimp basket. The bags of food can be emptied onto the table top and can include other sides in the bag. Boiling crab was a fun experience. We got mussels, clams, shrimp, potatoes, sausage and the catfish & scallop fried baskets. Cajun fries are the best thing here. Seafood was ok. The shrimp was a little overcooked but fine. Unfortunately, the catfish and scallop were not fresh. Scallop especially had a very rubbery texture. The sauce is unmatched, fries are always so crispy and delicious. There's parking on the street and on the side as well as a parking structure close by. On a Friday night in late June, I was craving for fried oysters do my hubby and I went there for dinner. Luckily we found parking in front of the restaurant. We got a table right away near the kitchen. Our waitress was nice and took our drinks first. Hubby got snow crab legs of $44 by pound which means 5 legs in she bang sauce. We ordered fried oysters and 2 fried catfish with fries. The food came out fast as we were watching the adopter game. Inside all the tables was filled at 5:10pm. TLDR: Good food, good service, and always a fun time Every few years, I'll remember this restaurant chain exists and make my way over to one. Going here has always given me a wave of nostalgia from when I would go with my whole family on special occasions. I took my friend here for her first time time just a couple weeks ago and was again hit with those same feelings of excitement and anticipation. It's so much fun to just make a huge mess while eating for some reason. Good thing there's a sink both in the bathroom and outside of it for this very reason. We parked in the nearby structure then walked over. We added our name and phone number to the waitlist and walked around a little bit while we waited for the restaurant to text us. Still not having received a text message, we decided to wait inside the loud and busy restaurant by the front door. I thought that they would call our name in person so I stopped looking at my phone, but I guess they don't do that here. When I checked my phone, it said that our table was ready and that we were taken off the waitlist. The host was really nice and understanding when we told him this. He found us a table and had us seated immediately. The waiter was pretty nice and came to check on us often. We ordered half a pound of shrimp and half a pound of crawfish in the garlic butter seasoning. We also got a side of cajun fries and some gumbo. We later ordered some lemon pepper hot wings as well. Don't forget to shake your bag to spread the seasoning all over the food otherwise it all pools to the bottom. All the food was delicious. Today we called because we were trying to get on the wait list on yelp but it wasn't working after troubleshooting from multiple phones. After speaking to the manager I came by again to place a togo order. Everything was made well and quickly. Ordered 1lb of shrimp / 1lb of clams whole shabang mild and triple x fries. It was about $45 for everything. The fries were cooked perfectly for my family and it was 3 mins instead of their usual 4mins, still fried and crispy but you can taste that potato! The shrimp and clams were pretty good! I think the sauce is still lacking in flavor now compared to over the years but it didnt taste too plain. There is no additional sauce in the bags so youd have to order more on the side. They also provided extra lemons salt and pepper. I've been a fan of Boiling Crab for 10+ years and I am soooo glad this location has adopted a yelp waitlist since their wait times are my biggest issue and my main reason for not visiting. I was able to join from a distance away when their wait time was 120-150 minutes long. My go to order is a lb of shrimp, while shebang medium and a gumbo without sausage or rice. The service is hit or miss. We didn't know who our server was and they'd disappear for a while. The space is very large and clean. I had a rude experience off the bat . I went in there a day after valentines and I understood it would be busy . I have worked in customer service so I knew coming in I would have to be patient . I asked if I could make a reservation or how I could put my name on the waiting list . Look even if they told me I could go online I would have done it .i didn't expect them to do it for me but the attitude I got from the young girl was just very rude . Then I put my name on the waitlist and walked around and waited . Well another issue i had was certain parties were allowed to just get a table . There was a party ahead of me and I was abt 6th in line they were fifth now on the wait list and the guy said something the young girl looked around and said don't worry abt it , I will put you guys next . Well when we went up there to ask if we could do the same they told us in a nice way to wait our turn so we did . Then after all this when we did get seated again not really complaining abt the wait time as we knew it would be busy and they did warn us right . We had horrible service . So I did a phone order for take out (on Valentine's Day) around 6pm. They said on the phone it would take about 45 mins. i get a text saying the order was ready for pick up, I head on over. Then I have to wait in the "pick up line" for another 40 mins just to get my food. People in this line were so upset. (Including me). I have actually never seen that many upset people at a restaurant. You should tell people who do phone orders that they will have to wait in a much bigger line to pick up the food if you are busy. That way they can just cancel the order on the phone or at least head over there 30 mins earlier to wait in line so that their food isn't cold when they pick up. I recently ordered boiling crab to go and had to call twice. They don't let you call in ahead of time to order for a specific time. They ask you to call 30 mins before pick up time. I asked the person on the phone can you just keep my long list of order and when I call you to remind you to place the order it will be easier? She said no so I had to call back to place my long order again. After placing the order through the phone with her repeating my order I went in to pick it up. Upon pick up, part of my side orders were missing. What is the whole point of repeating my order when half of it is missing? On top of that, the shrimp is never cooked correctly. All mushy and gross. Our seats were ready around 7:30pm. Parking in the structure the next street over. Very convenient. This was my first time ever getting seafood boil so I was excited! I got the half pound shrimp with all the seasonings and corn. Mixing all the sauces was the way to go!We also got sweet potato fries and Cajun fries.
