My friend and I were looking for a place for lunch and saw the rooftop deck and knew we had found it. We to there around 1pm on a Monday and it was mostly empty which does not bode well but it had filled up by 2pm. Sunny (hot) windy day. Serving staff did their best but an umbrella did fall on me but was not asked if I was okay which I thought was weird. Didn't see one smile on the serving staff or hostess the whole time we were there. We both ordered fish tacos - contemplated poke bowl but decided on the same thing so there would be no order envy! The fries were great. The taco was better than I expected except the coleslaw was mayo heavy and soaked through the tortilla shell. But the fish was well fried and the taste was good. The 4 rating was mostly for the view - otherwise I would have given it a 3 - not inspired to go back but happy enough with our lunch. Higher prices due to view I suppose. And warning there isn't a bathroom on the floor - my friend who was on crutches had to take the elevator down to go to the bathroom. read more

The Boathouse Restaurant - Fish tacos (reconstructed fish and chips) - Seafood Near Me - White Rock, British Columbia

Came here and sat at the window , It did not seem that full but servers seemed quite busy to track down. Both of us tried the fish + chips from the lunch menu. They were decent what I expected but not worth it for that price in my opinion, but more worth it for the location and view from inside the restaurant. Might have been better off ordering something different. Inside is a fairly quiet atmosphere but very bright and a good view from every table. read more

I reserved a table for a birthday dinner, and was looking for a place I hadn't dined before, and thought that White Rock would be a nice area. I decided to give the Boathouse a try. Table reserved via OpenTable. When we first entered we were promptly greeted by a hostess who took us to a quieter space in the restaurant, as requested, to have an intimate evening by candlelight. We had our pick of booths so picked the one we preferred and sat down. Our waitress was especially friendly, courteous, prompt, and professional, with a bright smile and a pleasant demeanour throughout our evening. She brought out drinks swiftly and was very attentive. We started with their complimentary fresh sourdough and whipped butter; standard for fancy restaurants and here was no exception. Tasty, crisp, light, fresh. We ordered the Bruschetta to start as an appetizer: cold cheese, soft, charred tomatoes, and toasty, soft bread to lift it all over to our mouths? Delightful. Every bite worked in tandem and was light, delicious, and most importantly fresh. I drank water through the meal as I was the DD, but the birthday boy had a spicy prickly pear margherita. For dinner I ordered the lobster and prawn carbonara. It was creamy, with a crisp pieces of pancetta throughout, large prawns cooked to perfection and the sweetest, freshest, most succulent lobster I've had in years. Not tiny flecks either; they were nice, rounded pieces of claw. Outside of the fact that a good carbonara normally doesn't have peas in it, I'd say the presentation made up for it, and the flavour was popping. For dessert we ordered a crème brûlée to share, but they comped us a mocha pie for his birthday, and surprised us with it- with a candle and everything! All in all our experience at The Boathouse was top tier, and I will definitely keep it on the shortlist for special occasions and celebratory dinners going forward. Great location, great staff, great food, and reasonable prices for a fancy place. read more

When visiting White Rock, this was the first restaurant we chose to dine it. It has beautiful views of the water. The food was delicious (I wish I had taken photos of it). The wait for the food was longer than we would have liked but everything was cooked really well. There is also a lot of variety on the menu. The prices varied so it was easy to find something within my budget. I found the stairs going up a little steep but it was worth it for the views. There is no elevator. The wait staff were very nice and welcoming. There is plenty of street parking and it is also easily accessible by bus. read more

Have some memories of this place from when we were younger: I don't think they've updated it in 20 years. Sunset was great. Oysters were fresh. Rowen our server was awesome. The downside? We tried 2 different beers on tap and they were all flat...and that being the first thing we had, did have us suspect on everything else. Luckily, our server was great and the oysters made up for it. read more

Mixed experience this time. In short, great food, poor service. The Good! Had the Crusted halibut with wild rice and Tuna poke bowl. Both were nicely presented and delicious. Kudos to the chef! Now the Ugly! Booked in advance on Open Table with added note this was our anniversary. The greeter at the entrance was friendly (and we overheard him tell the server it was our anniversary).. After that ....well. we asked for a table on top deck. We were served a couple drinks. A view table opened up so we asked to be moved. The server said, "it was against company policy to move a patron after they are seated" ??? We only had two drinks, how difficult could this be. Never had this at any other restaurant. Outside of that, the server got one of our drinks wrong then was noticeably upset after being asked to correct it. Note to manager, customer service needs some TLC. Also, it would have been a nice touch if the greeter and server wished us Happy Anniversary (it was noted in the reservation). It's often the little things that make your evening enjoyable, or not. read more

I was later contacted by Larry regarding about my experience. I was told they had some issue with their phone system plus due to Covid they were short staffed. They were disappointed on the kfc chicken and they have informed their staff to improve on it. But again Boathouse is a seafood restaurant, so I think it's safe to stick with their seafood menu or their on going items like their cheese burger etc. We will come back again to dine in. I am a Landry Select member, so I do collect points that I can use at any Landry Select restaurants. read more

I would give a 3 star review but this 5 star review is because of the incredible young host who made a great impression. We came last minute as walk-ins at noon on Father's Day Sunday (we expected a huge wait, we were underprepared - bad on us) and it was very busy - the young man was going from party to party, apologizing to guests for wait times and assuring everyone was seated in a timely fashion. Not only did he make sure everyone was seated, he also sat every party in different sections not to overwhelm the servers - all the while with a bright smile the entire time. The food was not the best (slightly overpriced and not fresh) but the drinks and service were good and overall it was a decent experience. The atmosphere is nice enough, typical with any boathouse - nautical decor. But this young man made it almost a 10/10 experience- I wish we caught his name but we can only remember he was the host at noon on Father's Day Sunday - he was more put together and efficient than every staff member we saw on the floor. If I still managed restaurants, he would be my immediate hire. He deserves a raise or a good share of tips. Will be back for him! read more

Service was terrible, many people were leaving their tables after waiting for 40 minutes to get there food. I ordered a fish and chips and they gave me a kids fish and chips with 9 fries after 32 minutes of waiting. Fries had no flavour and wasn't cooked enough. Fish tasted like oil. Would not recommend if you're eating for the food, the view however was amazing. Update: i also ordered ahi tuna tacos which took over 40 minutes, turns out it was given to the wrong table. read more

Boathouse is a year tradition as well as randomly going there on other days. Boathouse not specifically the same location, I tend to switch it up from the Kitsilano one, I have yet to go to the Port Moody one, and I used to go to the Richmond one (which permanently closed down). FIRST time at this location in White Rock. Thirst: Both non-alcohol Mango Mojito (delicious, DEFINITE REPEAT) Spicy Caesar (REPEAT, spicy with a nice kick taste) be prepared for the burn in the lungs. Grub: Crab and Lobster with stuffed Ravioli It's good and sloppy and lots of sauce, but NOT A REPEAT on my personal list There's other things on the list to try for next time. $34.50 Grilled Salmon with seasoned vegetable and potatoes pretty tasty and nice smooth texture of the salmon, DEFINITE REPEAT $33.00 Sweets: Giant Mud Pie REPEAT of course! Complimentary dessert for Birthdays! Service: Great! Erica our waitress was very attentive and checking to see how we were doing with our meals. Parking: In White Rock not easy finding free parking Parked out front. Cost is $4.00/hour. It was a nice change of scenery to go to this location in White Rock. I would come back to this location in the future. read more

Location, location, location!!! The views are stunning from second floor patio. Mind you there's no elevator so if you can't climb two floors for some reason you can sit on the first or ground floor to enjoy your meal but you will miss out on the awesome view!! I decided to have my birthday lunch here coz all this girl wanted on her birthday was to soak in the sun with a cold beer in her hand and delicious sea food ! And man was it good!! Steak with crab filled prawns was absolutely delicious. The prawns were so good that we almost fought over them. Fish tacos were super fresh and tasty but I have no clue why they came with fries (not that I'm complaining, more fries are any day welcome!) . The fish and chips were bland and were oily. Service was great and so was the buzz. Will I go back? Yes for the view and the prawns . Oh yes and the mango mojito. read more

A group of us stopped into Boathouse while visiting White Rock. Happy Hour is offered daily in the lounge from 3pm-6pm. Visa and MasterCard are accepted forms of payment. I sipped on a Johnny Walker Red Scotch for $5 (hh) while looking over the menu. My daughter stuck with water. My daughter and I shared the Ahi Tuna Tacos (qty 3) for $7.99 (hh): raw tuna in crispy wonton shells, white rice, wasabi aioli and mango salsa. These tacos were light and tasty. We also shared the Fried Dill Pickle Spears for $6.99: served with fries, ranch and ketchup. The batter was well seasoned and crispy. The dill pickle firm in texture. A tasty appetizer to share with a group. My daughter and I both grew tired of this appetizer and didn't finish it. I would only order this appetizer again in the future if sharing among-st four people. Service was slow, unfriendly and sporadic. Overall, the Boathouse didn't impress me. read more

Received an email from the Boathouse about a $20 discount off a bill of $60+ until the end of March. Had a shopping date planned with a girl friend so we decided to stop at the Boathouse for a late dinner. I ordered the Seafood chop chop salad but added $12.99 to make it a 3 course dinner and had the seafood chowder and mocha ice cream pie. The starters came within a few minutes and the chowder had a good amount of seafood in it but wish the broth was a bit thicker and creamier. I love the sour dough bread from here but some pieces of it was hard and not edible, which was a shame. Seafood chop chop salad was a good size, had a nice portion of seafood, and was tasty. Would definitely have it again. My friend ordered the coconut shrimp with fries, which was also a big portion. We both took home leftovers from our entrees. Had the mocha ice cream pie to go, as our dinner went past closing time. Size and taste was good but I do like the Billy Miner ice cream pie from the Keg more. read more

Food was fresh and very good, fish tacos and fish and chips. Service was fast and friendly. Stopped by for lunch. Next time will try dinner.

The black cod was absolutely the best I've ever had, and the seafood pasta was amazing too! Definitely coming back.

I wanted to try the oysters on the Happy Hour menu and because I was in White Rock, it was a probability. I got my oysters and they were delicious and so was my beer and so was my hamburger and my family had a great time having our mini reunion in our own private little corner of the patio. For the arthritically challenged there is an elevator. I'd go back for those oysters alone! Our service was impeccable and upbeat and accommodating. The Boathouse is definitely a place I'd recommend for a summer evening out! read more

I'm giving this 4 stars but really its more a 3.5. Patio is great, views are stunning. However, they need to clean it. There is bird poop on the side of the building and where I sat thats what you saw. Sure the ocean is there too but not all seats face that way! Service was great! She was very attentive and super polite. I should have grabbed her name to give her kudos on here! Food was ok. Nothing outstanding. Ordered the Ahi Tuna tacos to start. They are served in a wonton "taco" which was kind of unique. Very light and the tuna was fresh. It just lacked a bit of flavour...maybe a dab of spicy sauce or something? Also had the tuna poke bowl (I was on a tuna kick ok!) . Bowl was a great size but again lacked flavour. On the bland side. But was a decent portion of fish (for $26.00 I would be dissapointed if it wasn't) and had some good topping as well. Overall it was a decent visit but for the price of the food I would expect a bit more. read more

Very disappointed. The first time we came we joined Landry's club and this is our fourth time here. We didn't make a reservation this time and asked for a window seat for four (my husband and I and two kids). The staff asked us to wait for a little bit because they needed to clean tables. The couple behind us who also didn't make a reservation got a table for four before we did and it was a window seat. We didn't get window seat and we were called after them but we came and checked in before they did. read more

this restaurant situated on marine drive in white rock with unobstructed ocea. views truly sucks . The food was actually horrible , i got a replacement mean and it was just as horrible . My wife order leg of lamb and it was hard to chew and cut , it was nasty and costed a mere 42$ ! i ate there 5 years ago with my brother from Toronto and it was just as horrible then . My daughter tells me that it's a bunch of kids from her school that are actually the chefs lol . I went a second time on valentine's day , just to give it a second chance . Well it was another 160$ mistake , couldn't believe it . Don't go there , u will definitely not be satisfied , and out a lot of money to boot ! read more

Loved the clam chowder and pasta. Lovely place great open patio to enjoy the nice weather! Staff was friendly and helpful.

I'm a local . I've been coming here for years . I'm one to give honest reviews and many times I judge over a few visits to be fair . Here it goes . Last three out of four visits were mixed. Service was slower but in all cases very nice servers . Two visits were on middle floor one on the deck . Korean chicken burger was stringy and over cooked with a small bone , small beard like hair under my fries and seafood pasta was tasteless ( but very full of delicious seafood ) and tuna steak was tough and dry . I'm not here to scare people away I'm here to reach out to the management to please , please keep the quality alive and please do not ride on the location as being your strong point . I'm extremely thankful for having this restaurant so close to me but I'm fearful it's slipping . You have the opportunity to blow our minds with great service, great ambiance and an excellent menu . I'm a real person who isn't wealthy. I just know when I see room for improvement and I want to keep this my favourite place to eat in White rock . read more

I think it would be a great place to come and watch the sun set while having a glass of wine or a warm cup of coffee with dessert would be lovely too! Just back from an amazing meal, complimented by the amazing server, Melanie. Melanie made our meal enjoyable, she was always smiling, pleasant, helpful, if she was unsure of something she went and checked. The downer of the experience was that not one of the other staff members smiled, from the front hostesses to the other servers and the food runner. There must have been shortage of smiles when they started their Sunday shift. Melanie was definitely an exception and is an asset to your business. The food runner practically slammed our food down and you could barely hear her describe what she was putting down (hardly, I might add). Again, the biggest asset was Melanie and the food was excellent! read more

What a spectacular view from the Boathouse. I got lucky and saw the whole sunset. Food is awesome. Started with a chowder. It is like I like it, not a plain cream but a nice mix of cream and chunks of fish, potatoes, and croutons. My main was a Wild Sockeye Salmon. I chose the avocado corn relish sauce on top. Excellent choice. It came with roasted small potatoes and grilled zucchini and carrots. They also have the choice of Pico de gallo, salsa verde and mango sauce. My dessert was the mocha ice cream pie. A delicious chocolate ganache with peanut and almonds. The portion was very generous and I ate it all. Service was good. No problems! Have fun! read more

This is a very nice restaurant to have either dinner or lunch. I got the Blackened Tilapia with Key Lime Shrimp which was fantastic. I think they charred it the perfect amount. The tilapia was very flaky. Nothing but compliments. On the other hand, the lobster tails were a disappointment. It was over cooked and very tough. My mom also was disappointed with her add on. She got the Northwest Seafood Pasta which was amazing as well. But her King Crab Legs were not fresh and smaller than average Snow Crab Legs. Well this was my first and last time visiting The Boat House unfortunately. My girlfriend and I went for lunch at 12:30 super quiet only 8 tables of 3-4 people with 4 servers. We waited 10 or so mid. Wrote being asked if we wanted drinks then she asked if we wanted water ( water glasses on table I would expect them to do this automatically). Another 10 mins to takeout order. Food arrived and was pretty good, we had fish and chips ( nicely cooked and crispy) my friend had coconut shrimp and a side of seafood chowder ( shrimp were good but way to much coconut) she said soup was a 6/10. Never asked how our food was and to top it off our second drink a Strawberry Watermelon Mojito which we are pretty sure had no alcohol ( it had Bacardi white rum and watermelon vodka) Sorry but I can't recommend this place at all. read more

First time at this location but was instantly greeted for us to be seated as we made reservations for a group of 10. Had a birthday cake which the hostess took and kept in their fridge for us and no service charge like some restaurants. Seated with a view of the water and sunset was it...just spectacular setting. Our server Kasey was tentative and always readily available. She was great to give us some choices with wine and food recommendations. Food was delicious. Surprised the kids meal which they had fish & chips; 2 large crispy light batter fish which kids loved and fries...great portion We started with a dozen oysters with Kasey recommendation to have half easy and half west oysters to try...great recommendation Appetizer - seafood share platter. Crap dip was to die for...wish had more chips for it. Coconut shrimp was not dry and yummy. Calamari and firecracker shrimp was average, nothing too special. I had the mixed seafood grill for entree. Crab stuffed prawns...great flavour but prawns were small. Prawn and scallop skewers consisting of 2 prawns and one scallop. Scallop was perfect cooked and not chewy. Grilled sockeye salmon was he bomb! Not dry at all which I was expecting but would order this again. Wife had the Wild sockeye salmon with mango salsa and roasted potatoes with vegetables. Again salmon was on point. Some drinks ordered on their menu though were not available Parking is a challenge for a Friday and weekend when it is busy. Will need to pay for parking and some walking but enjoy the breeze from the water as you walk to the restaurant then Would go to this location again and ideally look to have Kasey serve us too read more

The location is best right in front of the beachfront. Two levels of dining. Inside dining is spacious and clean and if you can get a table by the large windows overlooking the beach and the street it's best bro. The top floor is patio seating and it is an even better vantage point of the water and fresh air. Lots of umbrellas and good for groups and social drinking meals. It was busy and happening up there. 4 stars because service could have been better. I kind of felt unwelcome and the host seemed to not care too much or was preoccupied with something when she should have her attention to us. I had the Grilled Wild Sockeye Salmon Burger. This was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It wasn't dry and the ingredients were fresh. Also what was ordered was the Seafood Share Platter. Good for 3 people to just munch out on. It includes Crab Dip w Chips, Coconut Shrimp, Calamari, and Firecracker Shrimp. I felt that the Salmon Burger needed more flavour needed more of that dill tartar sauce. It's been a while since I've been to any Boathouse restaurants but I've always wanted to give this one a try since we always eat next door at Angelina's. During the day, it has a great view of the water and a beautiful dock you can walk along. The dining room was full so we seated ourselves in the lounge at a long table next to another group. We didn't mind since the tv's were nearby and the waitress was just as attentive. Sometimes when you sit in a lounge, the service takes forever, but not in this case! I started off with a Coronita - Corona in a Lime margarita. It was refreshing and huge! I was drinking it all night. We also ordered a dozen Royal Miyagi oysters. They were small - medium sized, fresh oysters from the Sunshine Coast. These oysters are not super meaty nor are they briny. Good ones to try if you are just learning to enjoy oysters. Next, I ordered the 7oz Sirloin steak with a size of creamy mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. The steak was perfectly cooked to rare and crusted with the right amount of seasoning. My date had the steak as well and added the crab stuffed prawns. They gave him 4 lightly battered fried prawns that were savory and crispy. We finished off the night with the Mocha Ice cream cake. It was huge but not too overwhelmingly creamy as expected nor was it too sweet. I only wish it was colder and not as soft like a mousse. Overall it was a delightful dinner with wonderful company! read more

We ordered a 12 pack of oysters , mixed seafood grill and a 7oz steak. We asked for medium rare, and got medium well. The mixed seafood grill was a lot smaller than I was expecting. It was more of a bowl type of dish. The crab stuffed prawns didn't taste fresh. They tasted almost frozen, like a freezer taste (if that makes sense). The salmon was cooked pretty nicely though. The oysters were a disappointment... I was most excited for those. The presentation was very boring. Only came with two sauces. One was a cocktail sauce the other was a thick sesame oil. I had to ask for horseradish. I'm used to the traditional cocktail sauce, mignonette sauce, horseradish, and lots of lemon. They only gave us one slice of lemon for 12 oysters. Overall, the service was good. We had a nice waitress. The best part was probably the view, we sat on the roof top closest to the sunset. Our bill came to $160.. Not worth it read more
