We booked a Mother's Day dinner reservation at The Ocean Beach well in advance and were really looking forward to the evening. When making the reservation, we were told that the patio could not be reserved. However, when we arrived, there were three empty patio tables available. When we politely asked to be seated there, we were suddenly told those tables were "reserved." That made absolutely no sense, especially after being told patio reservations were not possible in the first place. To make matters worse, the two young women working at the front were exceptionally rude and dismissive when we tried to understand the situation. There was no effort to accommodate us or even explain the contradiction in a professional manner. Needless to say, we decided to leave and went next door to Charlie Don't Surf instead, where the staff were warm, welcoming, and immediately seated us at a beautiful table facing the water. The difference in hospitality was night and day. Very disappointing experience at The Ocean Beach, especially on Mother's Day. Hospitality and customer service clearly need serious improvement. read more

We liked this place so much we ate here twice while we were in White Rock for the weekend. The chicken sandwich is a MUST! The fries were perfectly crispy and delicious and they have some interesting beers on tap. We sat inside every time so we could watch some playoff baseball which they had going on every TV. There must be at least 10 TVs in this place because no matter where you sit you can see one. It was heaven! They also have Golden Tee and vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle video game machine. Armed with complimentary gift card in hand, the fiancé and I went to The Ocean Beach for date night. It had been a few years since I last visited, so I was curious to see if the place had changed since new management took over. I fell in love with the restaurant from first impressions (and arriving in time for Happy Hour certainly helped too). The seating was spread out and spacious, with lots of upscale plants and greenery. The ambiance was lighter than I remember, leading me to feel like this was a cross between a pub and an upscale lounge. There was a mix of sit down and high top tables. We have gotten into the habit of trying out either Calamari or variations of Deep Fried Cauliflowers whenever we see it on the menu. We were pleasantly surprised with the Parmesan Crusted Cauliflower. Being used to differently sized deep fried mounds, Ocean Beach gets top marks for presentation for the Crusted Cauliflower. They were (to me) mouth watering vegetarian crab cakes. They were perfectly breaded and fried, and all the pieces were carefully pressed to be the same size and thickness. For a split second, I thought were given the wrong appetizer but I was mightily impressed from first bite to last. For the entrée, I ordered the Ocean Beach Burger and the fiancé chose the Beef Dip. I'm unable to comment on the Beef Dip (because he inhaled the sandwich), but I can safely say I enjoyed the Ocean Beach Burger. Delicious beef (sorry vegetarians), melted gooey choose, an interesting blend of sweet caramelized onions and sour aioli. I'm not sure if it was the brioche bun in itself, or the mix of everything in between, but I thought the bun was sticky and sweet. An interesting combination when I was always used to savory burgers, but it was well worth the try. Pro tip: make sure you have extra napkins on hand. Verdict: Fancy enough for date night, but nobody bats an eye if you stroll in there for a drink with the guys. Worth a return visit when the weather is warmer, so we can sit on the patio and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. read more

My boyfriend and I found ourselves in White Rock one afternoon and was trying to find a place for lunch. We eventually ended up selecting here for the beautiful patio and wide range of items on menu (bf doesn't like fish). We didn't have high expectations because nice view doesn't always mean good food but we were amazed with how delicious the food was! We both got the crispy chicken sandwich but with sweet potato fries and he got a house salad and it was all delicious! The fries definitely were the better selection because they were perfectly crispy but the salad was still really good. The sandwich was very well sized, perfectly crispy, and loved that it had bacon on it! We would definitely come back again next time we find ourselves in White Rock! read more

We didn't know who our waitress was for like 10 minutes. She was even harder to wave down when we wanted our bill. Wasn't pushing for drinks, or appetizers, or anything, and wasn't overly hospitable. Couldn't get a seat at Uli's restaurant and wanted a restaurant with a view so we settled for this. I prematurely ordered the ceviche. Would've never ordered it had I known it would be shrimp cut up into small pieces. The taste was pretty off putting. The lime juice didn't taste fresh and the ceviche sauce was quite sweet. The seafood tagliatelle pasta dish had no flavour and a lot of oil. HOWEVER, the fish and chips was quite a delightful dish. Service was standard. I do have to say the place and food is great but the service was actually disgustingand dishonest. The waitress Rylee told us her shift was ending and needed to bring us our bill. Asked if we wanted anything else to drink. I told her I would have 1 more beer but water for my friend because she was clearly intoxicated and had too much to drink. However, she went to my friend and told her I'll bring your bill and proceeded to whisper in my friends ear...you want another beer don't you? Obviously she said yes. She brings us 2 beers and our bills. I enter my tip and tap my card which was declined because my bank was down. So I return the debit machine to the waitress who then gives it to my friend to tap but while the waitress was pushing buttons on the machine she doubled her tip I gave her. My friend clearly not noticing cause she was so intoxicated tapped the machine with her card. The waitress thought we were both hammered and took complete advantage of us. But surprise Rylee I'm just naturally high on life and noticed every nasty thing you did.**Edit** I have a copy of my declined receipt which shows the amount I tipped and the approved copy receipt with the new tip she entered herself. If the waitress had to enter the tip again in the machine give me back the machine and let me do it. Dont assume you know how much i want to tip** read more

Ordered the OB Burger which was excellent! You can tell the kitchen is taking pride in every plate. Service was very professional, even with Covid precautions in place.
