It took almost an hour for our food to arrive, and when it did it was cold. Kids fries were covered in pepper, and the grilled cheese (which was bordering on over cooked on the outside) was completely cooled and solid cheese. When we asked for new fries, they took a plate and microwaved the whole thing. No offer to promo anything, either. Hardly so much as an apology. Solid 3.5 stars IF you order the perogies, don't let the appetizer label fool you. It's a hearty meal with all that potato lol. Just wished there was cheese though perhaps it's not a given. But boy, were they generous for the cooked onions and green ones, oh yeah baby! Sour cream also the finishing touch---will order this again! Just wishes they 'offered' water, now that's a given here--- we are not living in Europe! Live band at nite. First time here. Loved the food. I had Vegetable Bread and Sweet Potato Fries (Yam Fried) with Chipotle Sauce. Vegetable Bread was alright but I really liked the Yam Fries. I went to West beach for the first time a few weeks ago. I have been living in White rock for 2 1/2 years and never came across it! The food was alright. I love that they have PBR on tap. I love the vibe of this place. It's very laid back and it looks like this place is the local's watering hole. Staff were friendly and the patrons were even friendlier. Omg! The worst experience ever. We asked for prawn appetizers they brought burned garlic bread which we obviously turned back. They brought back new FROZEN warmed up bread. Just didn't eat it. I asked for a spinach salad with prawns. The prawns were GREY extremely RAW. I just had to reject everything. It wasn't the waitress fault as she wasn't the cook. But I for sure know this is a place I'm NEVER COMING BACK TOO. Extremely disappointed with the food quality. Don't waste your time and money. It's a nice view but don't let that trick you. This was seriously the best. We were looking for a place in white rock, looking at reviews, menus - all while walking in the rain. We remembered seeing this place on the drive up to the pier and decided to take our chances and walk all the way back down. SO GLAD WE DID. $16 friken dollars for a coffee (which was promptly refilled when almost empty), steak (I live in Vancouver and have spent way too much money on steak lately and THIS WAS THE BEST TASTING ONE IVE HAD IN MONTHS), 2 beautifully soft poached eggs and I even asked for a special sub which was caesar salad instead of hashbrowns (it also came with 2 pieces of toast). It was only $2 extra for the salad and it was like a whole appetizer sized portion with TONS of cheese. The server (Devann) was awesome. Super polite, fast and remembered our entire order (including me being annoying and asking for multiple subs) without writing a thing down. She also let us order breakfast after it had already ended which worked out so well for us as we all ended up ordering breakfast. thanks so much for this experience. Have been here twice, both times for breakfast. Good food, quick service and reasonable prices. I highly recommend the breakfast special - two eggs, bacon or sausage with hashbrowns and toast or the breakfast wrap. The sausages are unique in that they are not in a casing and the flavour is really good, they are not greasy at all. You have a choice between shredded or cubed hashbrowns which is a nice option. A good little place for breakfast when in White Rock. read more

A great little pub right on the beach. I love the music on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. They have great beer specials. The yam fries are great. The staff very friendly. My only beef is the $3 per hour parking. read more

Took 25 minutes for a water and menus. Said it was just busy but there are only 8 tables in here and 2 servers. Waitress finally took our menus and immediately handed it to the table beside us without sanitizing (a father and 2 kids). The father saw this happen got upset and grabbed his 2 kids and immediately left. Pretty sure this does not follow COVID regulations. read more

Wow. A bar with a teenage server who did not know the beer selection, did not know the wine selection, screwed up the orders, kept us waiting in an unbusy restaurant for an hour and fifteen for fish and chips and kalamari with no cutlery. And it arrived COLD. The other tables near us all were victims of brutal food and service too. A ridiculous rude manager too who was blind to her own part of the farce. October 9, 2011 Its a lazy Sunday afternoon, Hamied and I are out for a ride on our harley's enjoying another stellar autumn day in beautiful BC. Our meandering brings us to White Rock known for its unbelievably huge out-of-place bolder (we call it the rock!) affectionately painted white. A summer tourist destination and favorite hang-out for those in the know with miles of beach front, restaurants, cruising strip, coffee shops and tourist traps akin to Florida's South Beach. Its a people watching hot spot. Come fall it quiets down and the locals can enjoy their hamlets breath taking beauty and simplicity. Finding food catering to your every whim is not a problem here and this day we break from tradition and tried someplace new, HELLO West Beach Bar & Grill! Our waitress, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing and she tells it like it is. I love honesty and she has no problem working the kitchen to ensure her guests are taken care of... The food, a pleasant and welcome surprise as the owner, chef, and staff were reworking the menu for the off-season. Hamied and I both ordered Caesar salad, Hamied going with the chicken wrap and I had the chicken gumbo. On a cool afternoon with the sun shining upon us sitting on the patio the chef's food was heart-warming comfort food just like mum makes, the perfect touch to a great day. Hamie's wrap was a solid fist full of chicken, avocado and fixin's. My gumbo had lots of flavor, spices, hearty sized vegetables and chicken chunks, a creamy-butter sauce that needed bread for sopping, it was that good. It was serious stick to your ribs yum yum meals. Their dinner menu and breakfast meals I can't wait to try next and watch for the specials! Oh Yea, heels toes, paws nose happy dance! on Fathers day evening my wife and I were very hungry, and decided to get a snack around 8:30pm. So we tried this place, what a mistake . From the beginning we felt we were in for a bad experience. The server came by and asked what we wanted to drink , we replied we were her for food and not drinks, so when we ordered water and fish and chips to be split by the two of us. the attitude went up, the body language was to say cheapskates. After a long period of time our fish and chips arrived they appeared to be quite overcooked, being hungry I started to eat anyway. My wife did not eat hers but waited for the server to return..... by the time she had returned I had eaten most of what was on our plate. My wife pointed out that she could not eat the food she had received. The server then replied that I had ate it and took away the plates and brought the bill. She did not deduct anything for the portions returned. Warning unless you buy beer here, do not expect service or quality food. We do not recommend this place read more

My husband and I took our friends for lunch here yesterday. There was our waitress and another lady behind the bar. She appeared to be either the manager or owner. There was a big sign outside that said Caesar Sunday's as the days daily drinks my husband and I ordered one each. The waitress came back and apologized that there was no Clamato juice to make them. A little disappointed but she suggested a couple options so my husband had a beer and I had a blue Hawaiian. Our food was excellent. My husband ordered the daily special which was clam chowder. Very good and such a generous portion he couldn't finish it all. Our buddy ordered the BLT and my girl friend and I ordered the crab cakes. Excellent and generous portions!! As we were finishing our meal, I noticed a young couple sitting at another table and the young man looked like he was in pain. Then the ambulance came so this drew all of our attention. Our hearts went out to him and his girlfriend. The ambulance was still there as we were leaving. The men walked out to the corner of the street and my girl friend went to the washroom so I waited for her at the door. I asked the gentleman who was standing at the door as well if everything was ok. He preceded to tell me some sad news in which the young gentleman in the ambulance girlfriend had just told him. The lady that which I referred to as either the bartender or owner, walked up to this gentleman and I at the door and rudely said (I can't remember her exact words) but that even though there's commotion going on that it is rude to stare. We were not staring over there. In fact, I was looking over at our men standing at the corner waiting for us. I said to this lady, I was waiting for my friend. She was still rude to me so I said to her "by the way, everything was excellent up to this point, thanks!! " she shrugged and proceeded to be rude. What a quick way to turn a good experience into a 'ya, we won't be coming back here' experience. I walked to where our men were standing and waited for my girlfriend. read more

Sadly the service /food has fallen off big time over the past 6 months. We arrived and waitress walked right past us without even a glance. We sat ourselves on patio waited for 15 mins..went to ask for a menu,waitress said she would bring one and we waited another 10 minutes. We then noticed the Manager talking and apologizing to 2 customers about the long wait ( over 1 hour and 15 mins )and then food was not as they had requested. The table with 4 people beside us all were unhappy with their meal, tiny portions , poor service and long wait as well and told us they would never return. This was at 5 pm and the place was not busy at all!! We left West Beach as still no one came by with menus and went to "Hemingways" a few doors up...we had our drinks in 5 mins and great dinner order done perfectly within 15 minutes. Take a lesson West Beach. This is how it should be done! West Beach needs to get their act together as they are losing customers big time They seem to want to cater and chat to drinkers at Bar as that is where they hung out Manager as well. The Chef in kitchen needs complete re-do of time management and quality of food served. They should have a bartender to make drinks as waitresses spend too much time at the Bar. We have been regulars over the years but are done now with West Beach as sadly this is not the first time this has happened. read more

West Beach has gone way, way down. It used to be one of our favourite White Rock ocean-side eateries, but now the food is insipid and service is lacking. False advertising, too. Their $3 pints of Moosehead are only 16 ounce sleeves, not a 20 ounce pint as required by law. Also, they advertise 1/2 price appies during happy hour. Not so. The best discount is 40%. No thank you, West Beach. We are done with your dishonesty and so-so food. read more

So West Beach bar and grill eh? Came here last year with my wife when it was under new management and the service and food was so bad it was un edible, we had our meals taken care of and only paid for the overpriced drink specials. But being second chance givers by nature (and a new flyer giving 10% off an appy helped too) we decided to give it one more try and boy do they have their shit together now. Our server Trich was awesome. She was fun, knowledgeable and quick. We ordered the tomato pasta with chicken, the fish and chips, and the baby baked potatoes to start. The food came out of the kitchen at a good pace. The baby potatoes were presented neat with smoked paprika mayo or something, they were heavenly. Enough said. The rest was ready to go almost as soon as we were done with our appy (I think for the pasta and fish and chips we waited 10 min!!!) The 'chips' tasted like real potatoes, the batter was crispy and the fish so fresh it melted in your mouth with the stunning tarter sauce. The portion was just right, hit the spot! My wife's pasta was cooked to perfection, with tomato cream sauce and bacon, a full juicy grilled chicken breast on top with garlic bread for 12$!!! You can't beat that. I was so impressed with the quality of service and especially the food I had to meet the man who cooked my meal. A young chef but so full of passion promised great food coming in the summer. Bacon wrapped oysters (or as he referred to them, angles on horseback) are what our mouths are watering for now. Can't wait to go back, definitely our new favourite place on the strip. read more

Tired this place on a Friday worst service I have ever had. First we waited 15min for someone to take our drink order waited another 15min for the drinks to even come my friend than ordered a starter which took over an hour to come and when it did hit the table it wasn't what he ordered. Our server was a darker skinned girl who didn't seem to really care about anything, we weren't checked on after the mix up with the starter weren't asked if we wanted more food. A different server came over to ask if we wanted more drinks which we ordered those took even longer than the first. We finally ask this server who had dark hair for the bill that never came until my friend went up to the bar and asked for it again. Finally when we went to get change for our bill the dark haired server pushed myself out of the way to open the door to yell at someone. All in all worst service I have ever experienced, the ceasers were fizzy and gross and the food we did have tasted like it was sitting at the counter all day.
