Stopped by for a belated lunch and left with a generally positive impression. The setting is a highlight--the view adds a lovely touch and makes for a relaxed dining experience. Food-wise, it was solid. I went with the schnitzel, which I'd recommend overall. It arrived nicely prepared and paired with spätzle (think German-style mac and cheese), which was rich and comforting. That said, the schnitzel leaned a bit on the salty side, so your mileage may vary depending on your preference. Service was fine but didn't particularly stand out, and the pricing felt slightly elevated for what's offered. All in all, it's a good option if you're in the area and craving schnitzel, but between the distance and parking situation, I'm on the fence about making a return trip. read more

Uli's is one of many restaurants looking out on White Rock Beach. Some friends took me here. I didn't know what their cuisine was, so I was surprised to see a table with people dressed in Oktoberfest clothing. But, I soon figured out they were celebrating the festival, as all the servers were dressed accordingly! (Also, there was an Oktoberfest menu at the table.) We got seated promptly by a friendly happy server. As it turned out, there was a special on burgers if you also ordered a beverage, so we all got a burger. We also ordered a charcuterie plate to share. The charcuterie plate came with thin cracker bread. It was competent, nothing amazing, but a good selection. The vinegared Enoki mushrooms were perhaps the highlight for me. There was also stone ground mustard and what I think was their BBQ sauce for drizzling over your cheese or meat. The burger I got was described on the menu as having a potato bun, 6oz fresh all beef patty, blue cheese, blackened seasoning, BBQ sauce, pickled onion, garlic aioli, arugula. Blue cheese was a dominant taste in the burger, but the airline gave some garlic punch, the BBQ sauce some sweetness, and the blackened seasoning on the burger gave a solid neutral base. But I neither saw nor tasted pickled onions. The patty came cooked medium rare without asking, which I really appreciated as it's my preferred doneness. It was quality beef. The shoestring fries were amazing, the best I've ever had. Crisp but not crunchy, and perfectly salted. And their house made tomato ketchup was a tomato umami bomb! I could drink a coffee cup of it. The salad was nothing remarkable, with a pleasant raspberry vinaigrette. The decor is pub with a nice view of the water if you're seated outside on the patio. I would definitely return to try other menu offerings! read more

What a pleasant experience we had. The cocktails were delicious. The crab cake could have been a little hotter. The paella was full of goodies and tho meant for 2 could have easily served 4 with a salad. The almond cake with ice cream was a great way to end the evening. Except for it being a little loud, it was the perfect evening ( but totally acceptable for a Friday night). All of the staff were amazing. read more

We visited Uli's on a winter's Saturday for lunch. We had no reservation and the restaurant was nearly full, so definitely consider making reservations at busy times. We sat outside in their semi-enclosed seating area, which afforded quite a nice view of the water. Service was prompt, which was impressive for how busy they were, and the staff were very professional. Top marks. We had mixed feelings about our food. Uli's specialty is high quality ingredients, and the menu reflects a Germanic influence (with a separate menu of Spanish specialties). Seeking to avoid heavy sauces, I went with a Vienna Schnitzel, which is breaded thin pork. It was impressively moist, and though it looked quite exotic, the flavor was very subdued, surprisingly so. I was hoping for a bit more flavor, though it was perfectly prepared. It came with a side of potato wedges, which were very tasty, and a small salad which was very fresh though overly dressed. She had a vegetarian patty on a home baked bun, which she pronounced very very good, though just a bit spicy. Her sides were French fried potatoes and the aforementioned salad. A beautiful day and a beautiful meal. That's what our trip to Uli's provided us as we met up with Michelle and Myron who were also in the Vancouver area. Always so great to catch up with family and in a cozy and quaint setting where we could here each other talk. It's just what we love in the Sos home. After our lovely server took our order, we sipped our Canadian ice teas which are a favorite of mine and caught up on the last little while. Suddenly the smell of food floated over and we remembered how hungry we were and out come the right sized burger and fries. Chloe took most of the fries from me but I enjoyed the burger. Similar in flavor to my wife's recipe which I absolutely love. Myron did not enjoy his schnitzel. Apparently overcooked and rock hard. Melanie loved her salad with grilled chicken added on. Uli's is a nice long-running establishment on the White Rock strip, adjacent to the boardwalk. We went here on a busy Sunday brunch so the kitchen and the servers were having to work a little overtime. Waited about 20-25 minutes for our food and had to follow up twice for our bill. Our server Olivia was the nicest though and she was definitely doing her best and kept things friendly and professional. Shout out to Olivia! We didn't really get to interact with the other servers but as they passed us by and everything, they all sounded pretty stressed and overwhelmed and had to lend each other a lot of emotional support through the lunch shift. I get it though - it's still a pandemic and it hasn't been easy for the restaurant industry. I really enjoyed their Caesar cocktail - probably one of the best I've had! They use a local BC spicy vodka. The Big Mac inspired burger was good! Love how they have a en extensive burger menu. I had the vegan jackfruit bowl - huge portions! Wonderful place - good food, service and the patio is delightful. We sat on the patio overlooking the sea and it was just lovely - sun and a slight breeze. Our server Suzanne was friendly, attentive but not overbearing and gave great advice about the menu. The food was excellent! We shared the carpaccio to start, it was tasty and with lovely accents from the capers and mustard. I had the Bohemian Salad with an added duck leg and my husband had the Forester Schnitzel for mains. The salad absolutely does not need a protein, but the duck was also an amazing compliment and beautifully cooked. Schnitzel with spaetzle and cabbage was spot on with a rich, tasty sauce. Returning to Canada from Bellingham, Washington, always wanted to try out this White Rock Gem!! No better time to do it when its on my way home! Arrived at around 4ish, and its during their Happy Hour ( 3 - 5:30 ), was going to try out several appetizers but changed our mind last minute and decided to have an early dinner instead. Starter: Calamari - Buttermilk marinade, spicy chipotle yoghurt, green onion; Calamari was cut from a large sized calamari steak, yet tender and well seasoned, with a squeeze of lemon it makes a very good starter with either your wine or beer! Main #1 : Cobb Salad (someone is still on diet) - this interpretation focused on the freshness of all the ingredients; all the vegetables were crisp and sweet, especially the red onions! Dressing was creamy, they use buttermilk and feta cheese and both complimented each other perfectly without being too heavy or salty. Good way to have a light dinner! Main #2 : Uli's Burger 4.0 - Potato bun, onion relish, bbq sauce, smoked cheddar & aioli..learnt from the Server that their burgers are made from well aged steak and can be done "medium" to "medium rare", took his recommendation and went for medium, the burger came with a side of fries or salads, and I opted for salads. One bite into the burger, you will taste the intenseness of the beef flavour and all the juiciness that comes from a good piece of steak! I am happy that I decided to have the burger instead of my favourite pasta which is also on their menu; the Vongle, guess I will come back to try that sometime soon! Another favourite restaurant in Vancouver. They make possibly one of the best burgers I've ever had and the waitress I had was extremely friendly and went out of her way for me. By far my favorite spot in White Rock. All the foods are thoroughly prepared, the chef and staff work hard to keep the quality, freshness and flavor of the food always consistent. I enjoyed a great evening with my family with a stunning view of the sunset. White wine, calamari, focaccia, for starters. For main I had a nice crispy fish and chips all cooked to perfection, all their sauces and dips are made in house (that home made ketchup is a must try). For desert we order the most delicate desert, the toasted almond cake, a Rich texture with a delicate almond buttery flavor, covered in a delicious strawberry sauce with a secret ingredient... can you tell what it is?? Took my daughter and wife here for lunch today.Uli's has been my daughter's favorite restraurant for years.Everything was good until after we ordered and then we seen our waitress on the outside deck with a customer and she was patting and touching the customers 2 dogs who were on the restraurant outside table on the deck. Brunch/ Lunch was not worth the money. The prices are far too high for what really is just pub food and now looking at the Boathouse a block away (which is known for being a slightly higher priced restaurant) I would of had much more value for money and my bill would have been less. So lets start. My co diner is sialic, so Uli's offers gluten free dishes, which is great, but....... We ordered the Bison Carpaccio and were told the crostini for my friend is a gluten free version, what she received was gluten free crackers out of a packet, hmmmmm! Onto the main course. COLD FRIES. I ordered the Vietnamese style burger which was OK but nothing special. For a $25.00 burger at lunch I was hoping for something really great. The dish was served on a small wooded platter which meant that much of my food would start to fall onto the table. To stop this from happening I had to move my uncut salad onto my side plate. Yep uncut, so just a bunch of whole green leaves. My co diner ordered the beef dip on gluten free bread. The regular sandwich comes on a baguette but gluten free just has a soft bun, maybe a gluten free baguette would be a much better option especially as we paid an extra $2.00. There was a small bowl of what the restaurant called Jus but this was actually a dish of tasteless, cold fatty water. Her fries were pale and undercooked. Now onto the staff. I swear our server was hung over or she just didn't care. She was nice enough but just not that on it. We noticed a chalk board pillar inside the restaurant by the kitchen with specials listed, this was never mentioned to us. I was a little undecided about my order so I asked our server about the burger I was going to order and her reply was, "It's OK I guess" or something along those lines. Not very inspiring. I was going to ask her what she suggested but didn't bother as my instinct was I would not get any kind of helpful answer. Maybe I am wrong here but probably not. The atmosphere is like being in a crowded pub with the tables crammed in. We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing evening along the water in White Rock, BC. Uli"s was a highlight. Celebrating our anniversary with our son and daughter-in-law, my wife and I shared a generous plating of paella. It was excellent, perfectly seasoned with a generous amount of seafood. This restaurant was terrible overall, other than the wait staff being friendly. We had relatives come from the US to visit, and they had been to Uli's a few years ago and had had a good experience, so we made this reservation. We drove all the way from downtown Vancouver for this experience. Our server was lovely and friendly, so that wasn't the problem. Two of us ordered the TWENTY NINE DOLLAR crab cake benedict, and they were bad. Really, really bad. The crab cakes were all burned on both sides, the hollandaise sauce already had a skin on top when they arrived, pretty much cold. Totally flavourless crab cakes, and/or any flavour they may have had was overtaken by the creamed corn underneath, which is odd to begin with. The hollandaise sauce was also flavour less. The whole plates of food were just mushy and unappetizing. The portions were minute for the price, totally not worth it (and I'm not from the USA where portions are big, so not making that comparison). One of our party ordered the paella, which she said tasted good enough, but the rice was soggy and it had no "crust" like you would expect from a real paella. They also had no clams, so they had to sub other seafood. It was not authentic at all. One of our party ordered a 5.0 Burger and it was decent in flavour but the fries were ice cold. Lastly, but importantly, one of our party ordered the beef dip and when it arrived it had a massive long hair dark woven through the sliced beef in the sandwich. When it was sent back, the server (different than our initial server) left the au jus on the table while the kitchen "remade" the beef dip, like they expected the customer to use old, cold au jus with a new beef dip. We asked for a new au jus to come with the new beef dip. Shouldn't have bothered because the new beef dip came to the table ice cold; we were pretty sure they had just taken the hair out of the old beef dip and sent it back out to us. We said we didn't want it anymore, and while that customer was now grossed out and no longer hungry after hair and ice cold beef, they said they would give him something on the house. He ordered the chicken thigh appy, and it was "meh". While we were there on the patio, they had the plastic siding open, but when it started to rain harder two of our party were getting wet so we asked for it to be closed. It took quite awhile for someone to come close it, so those customers were damp. As a last note, one of our party of five was in a wheelchair so I had called ahead to ensure they could accommodate a person sitting eating in their wheelchair before making the reservation, which they assured me they could. The table they gave us did have a space with no regular chair, but the customer's wheelchair could not be pushed in due to the table legs being in the way, so the customer had to get out of her wheelchair and sit on a regular chair which was very difficult and uncomfortable for her. Other than the sweet server we had for most of the sitting, who seemed pretty mortified about the beef dip, this experience was abysmal. For the prices Uli's charges, we would expect a decent experience so we were sadly disappointed and felt super ripped off. There are other restaurants on the White Rock boardwalk that are excellent, so we will have to pass on Uli's. Never again, Uli's, never again! read more

It was a little cold since we chose to sit outside and one of their heaters were broken but the waitress was very considerate and offered us blankets.
