Shoutout to the Saltwater Cafe for being one of the few long lasting places to get lunch, brunch, coffee on the Point! They just hired a new chef which elevated lots of their food selections - we had some of their French toast and it was really good. Overall SW Cafe is a great spot for hanging out, having a coffee meeting or just grabbing a bite to eat en route to lighthouse park, etc. Service was pretty good, they are pretty nice and the place is chill for sure. Adorable atmosphere with friendly service snd delicious food. What's not to love? Inside and outside seating, whatever floats your boat.

This was our first visit to Point Roberts, and we arrived hungry. The menu for the Saltwater Cafe looked good, and did not disappoint! It is an "order at the counter" sort of place. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delivered to our table, along with utensils and napkins. They "checked in" for additional water, more coffee, and so on. I had a spinach salad with goat cheese, pecans, strawberries and added chicken. Everything was fresh and tasty. My partner decided on breakfast, served all day, and enjoyed a bagel with lox and cream cheese, garnished with red onion and capers. There was a soup of the day and a variety of sandwiches, but we were saving room for one of the many pastries on display. While we enjoyed our desserts, a couple of fellows came by, on a mission to satisfy the sweet tooth of family members at home. The cafe is rustic and charming, with seating both inside and on an outside deck. We were there on a sunny summer day, but the inside would be cozy on a chilly day as well. We were extra appreciative that they agreed to serve us even though the kitchen had technically closed minutes before we arrived. We had a delicious reuben panini and a cup of soup. Came to town for a short visit and finally made it to Saltwater Cafe this afternoon. I was immediately greeted by friendly, warm staff and a display of amazing pastries. The raspberry powered donut was good and had a jelly ring inside, but the absolute show-stopper was the apple pie cupcake! It was moist, soft, fluffy, and flavors were on point. I'll be heading back tomorrow for another one of these beauties, and will try to resist stuffing my suitcase full of them for the plane ride home. I've always wanted to hit point Roberts, and glad we did. This cafe has high ratings with cause. The day we were there the owner was also opening her new restaurant nearby, so breakfast menu was limited, however luckily the bagel with lox is what we wanted. Come here to be generally eye rolled, watch as the owner rules a kingdom she's built mostly so she can huff and eye roll people, get the wrong order and generally be tut tutted. I'm not feeling good about this place. Sunday morning with a decent crowd. Owner was less than friendly and refused to take my speciality coffee order. She said she was too busy and too far behind-got water instead--I needed some coffee! Ordered ham and cheese croissant with a cup of clam chowder. Should have been about $14 plus, but she undercharged me. I told her about the undercharge and said it should be at least $6 more. She argued with me and said it was only $3 under. Whatever. It's your business if you want to undercharge me. Nice guy from the kitchen brought out my croissant which was surprisingly good. Clam chowder was another story. Think wallpaper paste with a hint of bacon a few clam pieces and some extremely stale croutons. Got down to the last bite of my croissant and found a short brown hair underneath. Yeah-not good and not mine. I know there are few places in Point Roberts to eat. Not sure if I'll come back here anytime soon. read more

The setting is delightful. Cute little cafe with lovely outdoor deck. We went shortly after their 9:00 opening, so there was no wait. Food was good but not exceptional. The chocolate croissant looked fabulous, but lacked flakiness and tasted like just about any store-bought croissant. The baked eggs Florentine was solid, but a bit dry on one end as if the oven heats a bit unevenly and the ham, while tasty, was a bit too salty. The yogurt parfait was excellent and all food came with lovely presentation and a nice side of fresh fruit, although one of the raspberries had a bit of fruit mold that should have been noticed by the kitchen before serving. Wait staff was delightful, and the British accent of one of the wait staff was a plus. Gave the place a true international feel. We'll worth the visit, but have reasonable expectations. read more

This is a little coffee shop in Point Robert's, Washington. Before we went(4 of us) I checked out the reviews. Most of the negative reviews were about the poor service from the owner. Our waitress was just learning the ropes and was very eager to serve us. I wanted the curry chicken soup but they were out of that soup. I had the tomato basil soup which was really creamy and hot. Best I have had in a long time. The shrimp Caesar salad was great and they offered in a half portion. We all had the specials that are listed on a chalk board. My fault I didn't take a picture of it as it had all the food listed. I cannot say enough about the taste, quality and presentation of the food. You go to the till to pay for your food. One reviewer loved the apple tart/cake. I asked for it was told they were sold out. We were there for dinner so most desserts were done. They have a wonderful variety of homemade baked goods and their coffee selection is really nice. There is also a local restaurant and the patio outside. You're not going to get fat off the portions, and it's a wee bit $$$, but the quality of food is excellent and their espresso beans make some of the best coffees I've had. It's a lovely little place to get away to, maybe 100 metres from the water, and sunny most of the time. The Florentine Egg Bake with Prosciutto and Asiago cheese was excellent and my wife loved her Baked Egg on Croissant Sandwich. Friendly staff and good food. Favourites were the soup of the day and the beer selection. Least favourite was the kettle chips because we assumed "gourmet potato chips" would be made in-house and not just a bag of chips. Shouldn't have assumed I guess! A bit on the pricier side but with limited options in town, that's to be expected. Recommend upgrading POS system. Came here a few times over the years. The service has always been a bit spotty. Cappuccinos with too much milk, hot drinks luke warm etc. This time was different. I came in thirsty for a Kambucha after a long walk/ bike ride and decided to stop in. Point Roberts has limited cafe options and less places to go and get good service. I love walking in and seeing people I know and love in my community working hard. There hours could be a bit longer but staffing here is nearly impossible. I ordered the lavender Kambucha, the most popular and a raspberry scone, my friends favorite! The scone was delicious, not to dry full of flavor. I suggest stopping here to read a book and enjoy the smell of the ocean or even having a afternoon pick me up before checking out other Point Roberts attractions! read more

Ick, ick, ick! I know it's a small town, but oh my gawd! I am thinking the worst sandwich I've ever had! Burnt, tasteless, the worst quality meat. Do you know how you grind your teeth back-and-forth to get through through gristle or a tough cut? DON'T do that here, you will have no teeth left. Two bites of the chard sandwich the rest just had to be set free. And that's not the worst part... The little cherub at the cash register was pocketing all the tips. To the joints defense, they were very busy. Staff were working pretty hard, albeit clearly disorganized. I was picking up a package with a friend over the Canada Day / July Fourth long weekend and decided to explore Point Roberts a bit. When driving through a residential area, someone recommended recommended this place. It was great. Good service and the food was delicious. We both got mimosas. I got the BLTA without tomato and Maui onion chips while my friend got the grilled cheese and spicy dill chips. We both got some macarons after (only 85 cents which is pretty unheard of in Vancouver) which made the place that much better. read more

We called ahead to see if breakfast was served with no breakfast menu on line to peruse we decided to try it for our Saturday breakfast. A nice environment but a very limited menu. I asked if the waffles were made in house and was assured they were, I was not interested in a frozen warmed up product which is just what I was served. The waffles were dry and doughy and did not meet the standard most restaurants serve. My husbands bagel with lox and cream cheese was very good and he enjoyed it. Gave my son a severe allergic reaction! My son is allergic to egg. We told them this when we placed an order for kids grilled cheese. They checked ingredients and stated that the grilled cheese did not contain egg. My son became very sick and on inquiry they told us that they had put mayonnaise in the grilled cheese. We were appalled and my son was very sick. They apologized and said they would refund my sons meal as some kind of gesture but having checked my credit card, it seems that this refund did not even happen. I'm disgusted with their inability to deal with a simple allergy request - allergies are serious potentially life threatening situations - and sheer ignorance of food ingredients and allergy content. Be carful when paying. The price they charged us was not the price that was post on their chalk board menu. We were charged $8.95 for soup that was posted as $3.95. The price posted on the chalk board for a panini was $15.95 but without asking they added $2.00 to the price for a 1/4 of a pickle which they listed on the bill as a vegetable. As it turned out they no longer had the soup and refunded our $8.95 but kept the 18 percent tip. The Salt Water Cafe is partially self serve. You order at the counter no one comes to your table. You get your own drinks, glasses, cutlery and napkins. We seem to have forgotten that tips were for good service. When you're asked to tip at the point of sale before knowing if indeed your are going to receive good service or at the very least with pricing transparency maybe hold off and tip appropriately with cash at the end, or don't. They can certainly charge whatever they want but I felt like someone was pulling a fast one on me. read more
