Excellent quality of food freshly prepared with very friendly service. The restaurant is small and quaint with a simple quiet and romantic ambiance. We had hoped to enjoy Sunday brunch but we missed it and had to come on Sunday evening-- the restaurant recommends reservations but our timeline was uncertain. We accepted 2 seats at the bar where we were afforded personal service. We loved the food and highly recommend this restaurant for the overall experience. We enjoyed artisanal bread with cheese spread, a plate of pickled vegetables, jagerschnitzel served with spaetzle snd sauerkraut. The sauerkraut was thickly shredded and freshly fermented and perfectly salted. Ordered an extra side we joyed it so much!! Evaschnitzel has earned its rave reviews one meal at a time. Excellent experience for someone who has never had schnitzel (esp for Gluten Free)! Waiter was very helpful and accommodating to recommend items and include substitute items for dietary needs. It was also DELICIOUS! Great time and so fun to try a new cuisine. read more

We are visiting from Washington State. We stopped in Eva Schnitzelhaus while visiting Chinatown. It was completely unexpected. We ordered from the Brunch menu. What a treat! I was really surprised to find this small snitzel house 300ft from China Town but I'm told the area is becoming more of an international district. It's not very big so may fill up fast. The server was very polite and welcoming. I got the 3 course meal and was not disappointed. I could not decide between traditional and Jagersnitzel so he recommend the gravy on the side and that was a great choice. I took apple dessert with me for later and it was also very good. We have been here three times and the food and service are consistently very good. I particularly likes the pretzel and pickles as starters. They have some unusual beer and cider choices and the servers give good descriptions and recommendations. My husband and I have gone for varying schnitzels each time we have gone and been happy. This restaurant is great! The food was awesome, very authentic. We did the three course price fixe meals and the offerings were great. I will dream of the Apple cake with caramel topping until my next visit. Wow!! We stumbled upon this restaurant in Chinatown and it did not disappoint! The vibe was great, the food incredible (the best sauerkraut I've had in my life), get the schnitzel you gotta try this delicious dish! Oh and service is the chefs kiss on top!! We had a wonderful evening at Eva with the entire family. We sat outside on the patio with two young kids, it was spacious and they had room to play on the benches. Our server Cole was super friendly and attentive. He helped us with all our decisions. The wine selection was great, and they even had one of our favourites from Else Winery. The Schnitzel was delicious (and enormous) as is to be expected since it's their signature. What really surprised us was all the small bites and plates. Our favourites were the chicken liver mousse, Tartar, and the pretzels/pickles were a hit with the kids. Overall a great experience and an opportunity to try delicious German food in a great setting. We'll definitely be back, maybe to try brunch, since it's a family friendly spot that hits all the right notes. read more

Our waitress was super helpful telling us first timers what to see and where to eat in Victoria. We ordered 3 different types of schnitzel and were pleased. The quantity and quality of the schnitzel along with the sides were appreciated. I shad the regular schnitzel with sauerkraut and the german style potato (the potato comes in cubed similar to Mcdonald's but much better). 3.5 stars really. Servers need more training on the menu. I wish that mine had told me that the eggplant in the eggplant schnitzel is a slice so thin, it could have been created with a mandoline. So barely there, I couldn't detect its taste or texture. Roesti was a fairly greasy block, no sense of shredded potato. Pleasant enough surroundings, my companions seemed to enjoy their pork schnitzel dishes and the table next to us loved their appetizers sampler. read more

Well, I must say, I really had my doubts for a decent schnitzel while visiting Victoria, but I was wrong as the food was great. I had the classic with lemon and if you do it that way I highly recommend using some of the Mustard butter ask for some I am sure they will accommodate. The sauerkraut or cabbage as one sides are a must to complement every bite. my wife had the Ham and Emmenthal and it was fabulous the ham was just right with a wonderful flavor and the sauce was perfect. I have yet to try dinner service at Eva, but I did go for brunch and it was sooo good. Really yummy German-influenced brunch, awesome service and well priced! This place is such a good addition to Victoria. My only suggestion would be that they fine-tune their music approach to create a better atmosphere, the first time I walked in (could be a fluke) there was no audible music and it felt awkwardly quiet despite the tables being full. We actually decided to go somewhere else because it changed the energy so much. But that's a super easy fix! Definitely recommend trying. read more
