Overall I wish I could give this place a full 5 star rating, but I could my breakfast to be a little light on quantity. Both of our meals tasted great for sure but I didn't get enough shaved ham or hashbrowns with my meal. The jalapeño corn bread was quite good, certainly plentiful, but the jalapeño did not make an appearance at all. K's huevos rancheros was very good, and a good sized portion. The London Fog's we had were pretty good, but were not hot enough. The service was very good, attentive without being overbearing. The decor I found very pleasing, quite eclectic for sure, but I liked it a lot. Any place that has a vintage seagull outboard engine gets my vote for sure. We'd most certainly return, I would just pick a different breakfast item next time. read more

The service is great here and the staff are super friendly. The food is HUGE portions, so come hungry, or at least ready to take some leftovers home! Jam Cafe in Victoria may not have started the brunch craze, but it sure put it on the map. I have utterly stuffed my belly full, at all three Metro Vancouver locations & I loved it! The original location here is a pilgrimage to make, when in Victoria. Get here before 9am or you'll be waiting over 90mins to get in - restaurant size is small. There was a brief wait to sit (less than the 20 minutes quoted). Everyone was extremely friendly. The menu is extensive and everything looked delicious. I got the Cracker Jack French toast which had Nutella and bananas. It was delicious. It had whipped cream on the side and a nice side of fresh fruit. Heard a lot of good things about Jam Cafe and that it was highly recommended so decided to give it a try. The interior is really cute and they have a good variety of brunch items to choose from. My one downside is that nothing I ate was that special and all the food items just felt really heavy and over salted in my opinion. I feel like because of the ambiance, nicely plated foods and huge portions, this place is worth trying once, but I don't think this is somewhere I'd come again if I needed a regular brunch spot. read more

Oh man. Jam Cafe is honestly the best breakfast place I've ever been too. Ever since my first time at this location almost 10 years ago, my family has been going regularly to the ones in Vancouver over the years and after all that time, the food is still phenomenal! Even though our male waiter let us know it was only his 2nd shift and he was still learning, he was great. Kind and attentive, and knowledgeable about all the dishes and specials. The French toast bite special sounded so good so I got that and a side of scrambled eggs. I'm fairly confident I've tried more than half of the menu but these LARGE cinnamon sugar coated pieces of French toast were hands down my favorite meal I've ever had here. After I drizzled some maple syrup and the cream cheese icing that came with it on top, they honestly tasted like mini cinnamon rolls. Absolutely insane! The scrambled eggs were great too. Soft and tasty and not over done! The rest of my family all loved their food as well. No complaints from anyone! The thing about Jam is you get a lot of food! Especially those Charlie bowls so my mom and sister probably only ate half, maybe a bit more! But we ended up sharing the French toast bites around the table and everyone agreed they were incredible. It makes me happy knowing I can keep visiting their various locations and the food will always be fantastic and the workers will always provide a positive atmosphere. Thankfully, it was not raining outside while we waited for a table to open up. Heard that it's sometimes a two hour wait but we only had to wait for maybe 30-45 minutes. We had to wait a little while out on the sidewalk before we got a table just before noon on a Friday. It was worth the wait! They had lots of bennies on the menu and all 3/4 of is ordered them. My Blackstone Benedict left me swooning. The candied bacon was to die for! The whole thing was divine. My husband ordered off the specials board-the pear & goat cheese Benedict. He liked it and said he would get it again. Our son tried the avocado and grilled tomato Benedict, saying it was good, and all ingredients seemed fresh and high-quality. Our daughter-in-law wouldn't get the huevos rancheros again, saying it lacked flavor. The tortilla wasn't cooked enough but the pulled chicken was pretty good. She noticed French toast ordered by diners at other tables and wished she would have gotten that or a Bennie. The food is big portions and pretty good. There's always a line to get in but they do a pretty good job moving it as quickly as possible. I've been here a few times for breakfast. The hosts are always friendly but the waitstaff have been a little... Off. They seem a bit stand offish and cold. A stark contrast to the atmosphere and hosts. I wouldn't recommend it or sway people not to go. But I don't think I'll be going back. You do not need to question the popularity of Jam as the line can be over a block long to get into this breakfast haven. We lucked out and got there just as the staff was opening at 8am. It quickly filled up with many happy campers. The music was a wee bit loud at first. Things seem to quiet down as breakfasts came flying out of their kitchen. Poached eggs, maple laced bacon, eggs Bennies were the order of the day. Of course scones with their delicious blackberry jam also crossed out lips! Highly recommend and get there early! read more

I noticed that this establishment boasted the highest ratings for breakfast in Victoria. The line was pretty lengthy, but I probably waited approximately 15 minutes since I was by myself and I was seated immediately at the bar. The inside was very vintage. The arrangement was impressive, despite its limited size. I greatly appreciate the wall decor. The customer service stood above the rest; it was top-notch, with everyone being super friendly and accommodating to any combination of drinks or food that you desire. I tried a couple of mimosas, specifically the classic and lavender lemonade varieties, and honestly, I didn't enjoy them. They were on the light side, both flavor- and alcohol-wise. I mildly enjoyed the huevos rancheros meal, which came with cornbread. I gave it a rating of 2.5 out of 5. The cornbread was decent, but the flavor was lacking. Ive came here 2 times and both times we were pleased. I actually live in america so on our roadtrips, we come to victoria and stop here. The 2nd time we came we specifically remembered to come here because of how good it is. The time we went this year, (2nd time) we came early because last time the line was forming outside the door so we were the first ines inside and we ordered a dish with 2 eggs (im pretty sure i might be wrong) and they forgot to make the 2nd one i dont remember that well and the manager came up to us and said that the chefs were remaking the meal for free. The staff overall are really nice and talkative and inside there are tons of decorations to look at while they are making your meal. I orded french toast sticks for 14 dollars and they brought about 9 french toast sticks about as long as a pencil thats been used a bit but it was twice the size and length as a used pencil! It tasted pretty plain without the sauce they gave us for the french toast sticks but with the sweet sauce, the french toast sticks were amazing. I would most definitely recommend you to come here if youre in Victoria read more

When we entered, we were greeted with a cinnamon scent and friendly waiters. The interior was nicely decorated and welcoming. We ordered a hot chocolate, which came out in minutes. They didn't hold back with the chocolate; it was very creamy and rich and had a homemade taste. Ordered a few plates of food, and then it came quite quickly. The food was amazing and had a lot of flavors. The 2nd time we went, we came 10 minutes early and were one of the first people to be greeted. The waitress came and was really sweet and talkative. Ordered a few more hot chocolates, which came quickly, then we ordered the food. Ordered mainly the same dishes as last time. The food came, and the waitress came to talk to us. She had said that they had accidentally made the pancakes too small and were prepping new ones that were the correct size. Then the manager came over and told us they were going to make the pancakes for free since the ones we originally got were small, which was extremely nice. We ordered ice coffees, blackstone benny, cracker jack and an omelette. My benny was bomb!! The bacon was sweet and a bit crunchy. The muffin was toasty and crunchy, ugh so good! Most muffins with benedict are soggy but this was perfect. My sister thought her cracker jack was just ok, it lacked bananas. My husband thought his omelette was good, nothing special. Lucked out walking by Jam Cafe seeing no line ups, so in we went. Feel blessed. It has everything one needs for a breakfast establishment...great service, good coffee and an amazing selection of items on the menu. The room has a great vibe with the hustle and bustle of the wait staff squeezing through the crowd of patrons. I opted for the Avocado Benny. The presentation was spot on and the eggs were poached perfectly. Hard to go wrong with avocado and poached eggs on an english muffin. My dining companion ordered The Charlie Bowl. I tried it and quite enjoyed the gravy and biscuits. Our server was very pleasant, attentive and she regularly filled my coffee...yeah. Ordered the gravy coupes, which is a big as your head biscuit, a smidge of gravy, crispy hash browns, 2 eggs, 2 slices of pork belly (or some other meat) cover in scallions. The big ol biscuit was dense and dry. The pork belly was too fatty for my liking. The pork gravy had a weird flavor, but wasn't enough to offset the dry biscuit. Oh my goodness, Jam Café is popular. It's THE spot for breakfast in Victoria, so expect to wait in line if you don't show up the first one there. But who doesn't want to sleep in? And honestly, I think you should just sleep in. We attempted to visit Jam Café on a Sunday for breakfast and the line was way too long. I got things to do, yo! But we ended up coming back the following day, a Monday, which was much better. We arrived around 9am and were able to be seated inside immediately, even though we were hoping for a table outside. But those were all taken by the early risers! By the time we left there was a line outside of peeps, waiting to brunch. Holy moly. Is it worth the wait is what you're asking, right? Well, no, I don't think so. I was glad we visited when we didn't have to wait because I am not sure if I would've waited an hour or so for the gravy coops, the dish I ordered. Don't get me wrong - it's a tasty dish. But is it the best brunch I've ever had? No. I ordered the gravy coops, which was a fried chicken on a biscuit with two over easy eggs, sausage gravy and hashbrowns. My partner ordered the special of the day, the carne asada and eggs dish with cornbread. It didn't take too long to get our food, and we both enjoyed what we had. My dish was heavy, as if you didn't get that hint by reading the description. The fried chicken was good and tender. I did like how flaky and soft the biscuit was, but surprisingly, the gravy was a little bland. I chose the sausage gravy and couldn't really taste much of that rich, sausage flavor that you usually get from this kind of gravy. But they make their own hot sauce, so I definitely topped my dish with that, which added some flavor. My partner also liked his dish, but mentioned he wouldn't order it again. Overall, if you find yourself looking for a brunch spot in Victoria, I'm sure Yelp and other search engines will tell you about Jam Café because they do offer a wonderful array of traditional brunch items, savory and sweet. There aren't too many restaurants I visit more than once on the same vacation. We want to the Jam Cafe three times during our trip to Victoria. It was that good! I tried the Pear & Brie Benedict. Such an interesting combination of flavors. The savory creaminess of the brie melded perfectly with the sweetness on the pear. Topped with a very respectable hollandaise and a beautifully poached egg, this was a dish I'd order again. Next visit I discovered that you could order a single pancake with any of their sweet toppings. I choose a cinnamon swirl pancake paired with a pork belly Benedict. The pancake was a delight with plenty of cinnamon punch, and not too sweet. The pork belly was cooked perfectly, but needed a bit more flavor to carry the dish. Benedict can be pretty bland without a boldly flavored meat to back it up. On our third visit, I did the single pancake trick and got a chocolate banana pancake. This was pure dessert, but it was so so good! The caramelized bananas were so good, with little crunchy bits is sugar. The chocolate was in the darker side so it wasn't too sweet. Still, I was happy I got one pancake. I couldn't imagine eating more than that in one seating. I paired the pancake with a half order of fried chicken Benedict. The chicken was boneless thigh meat, so it was nice and flavorful. The corn salsa added zing to the plate. All in all, this was the favorite Benny I tried. All few other notes: I tried a bite of my husband's bacon. Some of the best live ever had! Also, they serve really good coffee. The service on all three visits was really attentive. Decided to write a lighter review as all the previous reviews are accurate earning 5 stars. From the picture you can see the line before opening. When we left at 8:45 there was still a line. As you can see that the line is protected from bad smells from animals. Although, I find the sign objectionable and sexist because it only shows a male dog. In addition Canada is bilingual.
