I selected medium for eggs..not too runny but still soft...great hollandaise sauce. Side of hash browns was crispy on both sides with some grilled tomatoes. Hubby had homemade rosemary biscuit a(nice and flaky with layers), with fried chicken in side and mushroom gravy and two eggs over easy. This place is definitely popular here in Victoria. Not sure why. We arrived about 8:30 AM in order to not wait in line and I believe we got the last table. By the time we left, there was a very long line out the door. For me, it was just really average. The food portions were medium. And the taste of the food was just ok, nothing was outstanding. I had the chicken fried eggs Benedict which barely had any Hollandaise sauce on it. My partner had the cast iron taters skillet. It felt expensive with each dish costing around $22. My drip coffee was $4 (whyyyy it's drip!!) and I ordered a side of country gravy which was about 2 tablespoons worth, they actually charged an additional $3. I don't mind paying good money when I feel like I'm getting a quality meal but I felt a little ripped off by the time I left. Not worth the experience or the breakfast. Not to mention it always feels a little bit awkward when the waitress hangs over you while you tip on the credit card machine. Will I be going back, no. Maybe breakfast foods are just not my jam, but I found Jam Cafe just okay. The service was good, the food was ok and the price was a little high (but you are in Victoria so to be expected). We came on a random weekday morning, so there was no lines and only three other tables being served. I had half of the Blackstone Benny (basically a benny with sugar cured bacon) and my partner had the Huevos Rancheros. Both were okay, but nothing to write home about. They checked vaccine passports and seated us promptly. Overall the service was great throughout. We had an idea of what we wanted; my dad and I wanted the pork belly benny, while my mom took the cold smoked salmon benny instead. My mom loved her food. Myself and my dad? We liked the eggs, hash browns, but the pork belly was extremely tough. Barely chewable at all, They were big, thick strips...but not much you can do if you can barely chew them sadly. I ordered an extra hot chocolate with whipped cream. Came to as expectations. Since we really only had one problem dish, 3.5 stars is a fair rating. Cute little breakfast spot in Victoria. We were seated right away which was great as it seems to be a busy place otherwise . Service was great and our waitress gave us these two recommendations and she was absolutely right to do so as they were both delicious! My husband had the pulled pork pancake and I had the fried chicken French toast. Both of them had the similar sauce with maple and some other spice that complimented the meal. I was impressed at how well the meats went with the breakfast items such as pancake and French toast. I also orders a lavender latte which was ok. But not terrible. I had the bowl - which was a ton of food - pretty hearty and heavy so watch out. Great menu selections - the coffee was excellent. My wife had the day's special, which was a two egg, English muffin fried chicken Benedict - topped with melted Brie cheese, pickled asparagus, Hollandaise and chive oil. She normally only has one egg at breakfast, but this was so delicious that she ate the entire dish. I had to try their chicken and waffles breakfast, which was a Belgian waffle topped with fried chicken thighs (boneless), sausage gravy, and two fried eggs. House syrup on the side, but the waffle had the perfect amount of sweetness so the syrup was not necessary. I didn't expect a Southern US specially to be sooo good in Canada!! Busy and Lively brunch spot! We waited more than hour to be seated, but the fast and friendly staff that made sure the line was moving efficiently. Great ambience with a vibrant interior. The Benedict was assembled perfectly and was such a yummy combination of the pear and brie cheese. The Charlie Bowl was my favorite! It was so warm and filling and every bite was a bit of eveeytni I was a bit disappointed in the omelette. It was more of a an egg wrap than an omelette..the fillings (choose only 3) was just wrapped in the egg itself, it seemed to be cooked separately? Maybe it was just my case but it wasn't great. The chicken french toast also wasn't the best. It was an interesting creation but everything was drowning in too much sauce and it tasted a bit sour, way too many pickled cabbage too. Victoria isn't really known for their brunch scene so the one recommendation that popped up every time for brunch was Jam Cafe. It's the first place I headed to after I dropped off my bags at my hostel. Both the Vancouver and Victoria locations get crazy lineups so I knew what I was in for. Waited maybe 25 minutes in line on a Thursday morning. The tables were well distanced and had plexiglass to further separate the groups. I ordered the gravy coops which is a buttermilk biscuit topped with fried chicken and a hash brown with their special in house sugar cured bacon on the side. The food was insane. I loved every bite. The portions are also huge enough to feed 4 people. I felt so bad leaving without clearing out my plate but honestly I would've had to stay all day to finish the whole thing and there was too many people in line to be that selfish. My highlight was definitely the sugar cured bacon. The BEST bacon I've ever had in my life. I'm still dreaming about it. My waitress was the sweetest and my entire visit was just so welcoming and friendly. I recommend this place a lot, well worth the hype and lineup! read more

We came here for breakfast yesterday.... Yikes what a slam dunk. Everything was on point, the service was prompt and very informative. Fry the prosciutto so it's not just a limp piece of meat. Serve it on top of the eggs. Onions were too sweet for the savory side of it. Brie should be melty-not hard as a rock. Their bowls are particularly unique with a blend of flavours and textures, like the Charlie bowl full of classics or the spicy sour Later Tater bowl. They also have the BEST chicken and waffles I've ever had. Overall, I think their savoury options are a bit stronger than their sweet options. It's no wonder the line is always soooo long, which is probably their only weakness. I want to enjoy my brunch, and the staff are always rushing customers out the door. Ahhh I'm sad!!! I get super food emotional btw and this was our first time at any Jam cafe's. I reeeeally really wanted to like it. Not sure if it was just too hyped up for me or if my expectations were too high :( I love chicken & waffles but I also love French toast. Thought I'd mix it up and ordered the Chicken French toast and it was underwhelming :'( It was sitting in a savoury sauce, the maple bourbon bbq glaze. I just wish maybe the sauce was on the side so the bread and chicken wouldn't get soggy throughout the meal. It said it would've been topped with hot honey (was super excited for this!) but I didn't find enough of it was on, they also did not offer any syrup on the side. The fried chicken itself was ok but very thin. HUGE portions though, so if you're hungry, it's a plus. My fiancé got the Old town breakfast, the sausages had a very strong rosemary taste to them and the egg whites itself were still quite runny. Overall, I wish I liked it more!!! If the opportunity presented itself to try it again, I'd give them another shot but probably won't want to wait 45 min for a seating unfortunately :( read more
