The food here was fantastic! The wait staff (or owners??) were fantastic! The location, fantastic! The ONLY reason for the loss of a star was honestly, the cleanliness of the condiments. The salt and pepper shaker/grinder are made of wood and FILTHY DIRTY on the table. The white(ish) vinegar containers also, dirty. When I say dirty, they are BLACK with use. Tip - spend $20 and get some glass or plastic items that can be washed. NOT sanitary in ANY which way! Now, the food - the fish (ling cod in this case) was delish! Very light batter that was well cooked (no squishy oil soaked mush under the golden crust) and not oily in the least. The fries tasted as home cooked as (I assume) are.... no oily taste here!! The coleslaw was meh. It was fresh, but nothing to write home about. Overall, after the second visit in as many years, this is our favorite place to go!

Quite a few bad moves - we sat outside, but after no one showed up I walked up to the counter to ask for service, and the lady there said "yeah, I saw you when you came in but then I didn't know if you sat down or you left". Seriously? When the guy who served us showed up, he dropped the menus on the table rather than hand them to us. We ordered a chicken burger, deep-fried pickles and a portion of fries. Fries and the burger showed up, but the pickles they forgot and we had to remind them after we ate our food. Once they showed up they were dripping with oil. Coke and the ginger ale were served in a can and they still charged the same for each can as they do for a portion of fries. I guess having a good location is enough for this restaurateur to stay in business

Having fish tacos at the Fishboat. They taste great. Only negative is that in a hot day they have the non-alcoholic beers (1% alcohol).

It my first time at white rock , when we parked near the beach , we saw restaurant and we decided to try fish boat. Me, my husband and our 2 kids we order 3 big boat , it's comes with 2 pieces of fish with tarter sauce and fries , and it's good portion . We absolutely loved it , the fish is juicy and we finished the plates ,even my kids loved it . The price is reasonable 14,99 for the big boat plate

Generous portions and good fish and chips; also by the ocean. They have ice cream, too! Highly recommended.

    Review Highlights - Fishboat Restaurant

The batter has a bit of a kick to it and if you live dangerously they serve it with a jalapeño on the side.

Knowing it would be a busy day, I made a reservation in advance, which I'm glad I did. This restaurant had fairly good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, I was a little surprised. The restaurant was much more casual than I expected, and the ambiance felt a bit dated. We ordered the half dozen fresh oysters, spinach salad, seafood linguine, and the Creole chicken. Unfortunately, the oysters were disappointing. They weren't as plump or flavorful as the fresh oysters I've had in Vancouver, and they were served with tobiko, which I've never seen paired with oysters before. It wasn't a combination I enjoyed. The spinach salad was good, although I thought it was a bit overdressed. The seafood linguine was also enjoyable, with a generous amount of seafood, though I wasn't expecting it to be made with pesto sauce. It was still a tasty dish. The Creole chicken was just okay--the chicken breast was a bit dry, but the sauce helped make up for it. Overall, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food and the casual atmosphere. It may be a good option by White Rock standards, but if this restaurant were in Vancouver, I don't think it would stand out. That said, the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided the best part of our dining experience.

I have been a long time customer of DHOC. We love our oysters! The highlight of the dinner was to have Adam from DHOC set up am oyster bar at the party. It was the focal point of the dinner and a tremendous hit with our guests. Adam served, cooked and shucked raw oysters. They were all fantastic! I cannot say enough about how fun it was to DHOC at this party. We will definitely have them back again this summer. If you are hosting a party, add oysters to menu! They are the difference between a simple party vs. a fun culinary experience for your family and friends. Our friends are still contacting us to rave about the oyster bar! Thank you, Adam, for making this dinner extra special! We appreciate your hard work and excellent service! I wish I had pictures to share but I forgot to take them!

I appreciated being able to sample the dressing before ordering as I would not want the taste of anchovies to be too strong. The grilled sourdough bread was a nice finish to the salad. Moby Dick's is obviously a busy place in the summer, being right across from the waterfront -- but…read morein January, it's a sleepy area and the restaurant is active, but not too busy. We found the food unremarkable - standard fish, standard chips, standard coleslaw, standard tartar sauce. All fried food is pretty standard, pretty greasy, but not any better or worse than many fish & chips shops. So why a 3-star rating rather than 4-stars? First, there is there menu and pricing: What is called a 1-piece fish & chips comes with 2 pieces - all identified fish comes with one extra piece. It's a gimmick, and mostly just annoying. 2nd, there is a charge for everything -- Want tartar sauce? There are three sizes, three prices. Want to substitute onion rings for the fries? Can't do it, even with an up-charge, though you can order fish and you can order onion rings, each separately, each with its own price. Coleslaw? Yes, but not instead of fries. And the coleslaw is pricey - a good sized portion, but a substantial price none-the-less. The portion sizes are reasonably large, but the incessant a-la-carte with each item with a price - one feels nickled and dimed to death. The atmosphere - ok, 1950s-ish, nothing special. The staff, friendly and attentive, but young and inexperienced. And then there was the problem with the cooking -- we got 5 pieces of fish (ordered 2 and 1, which is really 2+1 and 1+1 = 5). Four of them were pretty standard. One was undercooked - cooked on the outer edges (under the fried batter), and raw and translucent on the inside. Yes, they took that off the ticket, so I didn't have to pay for it, but biting into a piece of raw fish with the outside so hot it almost burned my mouth and the inside uncooked - not so pleasant. Moby Dick's gets good ratings from many Yelpers, but in my view, it's not worth going out of your way for.
