I have been here a few times now and the food is always wonderful! The service is friendly and efficient and the ambiance is typical of the beach area. It is nothing fancy, in fact it's always a bit cold and with wooden chairs and tables. I believe it was a "Post Office" at one time? That said, you can't get a better meal! We both had a bowl of their Cream of Broccoli soup and it was arguably the best I have had. I also had a Caesar Salad which I love but this one had a Balsamic reduction. I wasn't sure how they would do it but I tried it. Not a fan! The salad was fresh and wonderful but the sweetness of the reduction just didn't belong in my opinion. Some chefs just need to try to improve great receipts but some need to left alone. lol Again, my humble opinion. Only complaint was that our table was sticky... Not a big deal and I was aware of the salad but tried it anyway. Want to come back and try the Mussels! read more

We typically come every Monday evening for our window table (and their wine special tbh) but mostly for the consistently delicious food in a quaint and rustic atmosphere served by their wonderful staff. My husband enjoys their garlic prawns and steamed mussels nearly every visit and the rest of us often have their roasted garlic & goat cheese flatbread, caesar salad or their delicious mushroom soup when its on for starters and for mains the rest of us love the stuffed chicken, herb crusted halibut, walnut crusted steelhead, flat iron steak or the ale braised beef short ribs. We haven't tried everything on the menu as they always have a special mains for the evening. The chef is very accommodating for those with allergies....particularly those with gluten free needs. The little two bites of Cod was beginning to turn, ammonia smell. Fries seemed from frozen. Cole slaw was dry on top like it had been sitting, flavourless, I had to ad vinegar to get some flavour. Tea wasn't very hot. Friends garden burger looked overcooked and dry. When we were leaving there were no pleasant, thank you, please come again. The girls were very good waitresses. Disappointed with the service here after taking the family out for lunch. Although the atmosphere was quite nice, portion sizes were quite small. Cabin burger patty was way over salted. The pasta dish off the kids menu was $15 and was so small consisting of just pen noodles and plain red sauce. I ordered a clam chowder and Caesar salad with steelhead. Unfortunately the salad came without the fish. After bringing to the attention of the staff it took a while before I could eat. Family was practically finished their meals by the time I could eat. While it is understandable that it takes time to cook the fish and accidents do happen. What I found surprising and completely unacceptable was that there was no compensation in any way for this error. The server should have offered to take the salmon off the bill at the end or at least comp me another beer or something. In the end, I recouped this cost by not leaving a tip. Unfortunately I recommend skipping this place if you're considering eating here. A trip to Wendy's would have been better! read more

We went for Mother's day dinner, four adults and 2 children. Excellent service, and food, freshly cooked, attention to detail. They even adjusted meals to lower sodium, and gluten free, and egg allergy. Very impressed. Will definitely recommend and go again. read more

The Cabin Restaurant is my new favourite restaurant, for a nice meal. The setting was comfortable, the food was very good, the staff were particularly nice, the prices were fair, based on the competition. The good; Service was very good. The food was unacceptable in terms of preparation/ taste/ and most home cooks would have done a better job. Pricing for portions were ridiculous: i.e. a cabin salad priced at $13.00 CAD comprised of 2 cups of lettuce ( I kid you not) and not much of anything else. Our jaws dropped at what was presented and we questioned this? 2 piece Halibut and chips- haha, fish was the size of 1.5 Inches width x " 3.0 inches length each and fries, which all where Burnt. Looked like fried in very old oil. I commented on size of fish and they said they go by weight. Well, the weight is about 75 gm/ or 0.165 pd/ or 2.64 oz for $25.00 . This looks like 2 pieces of fish the length and size of a normal pinky finger. My replacement meal was Seafood Linguine- the pasta was cooked mush. Total bill came to $300. CAD for 5 people. Great food in a cozy environment (feels quiet even when it's not that quiet) with unique set up. Fair portions, although not cheap, not pricey and it's worth the extra bucks compared to any other place around. No doubt it is the place to go in Crescent Beach. The decor of this Crescent Beach restaurant is shabby-chic and the bare floors and walls plus loud music mean it's a little loud. The service was fine - I was a little put off when the server sat down on our bench while we ordered our meals (that's a pet peeve of mine) - but she respected our distance after that. Our food was good, but not anything outstanding, and the portions were healthy...not American over-sized, but more along the lines of what a person should eat. I enjoyed the coconut-infused rice, which had a subtle flavour...but I suspect that part of the seasonal vegetables were frozen (green beans). read more

Very dissatisfied with not only the food but with the Owners Attitude Went for dinner and asked her advice on my 2 choices a Steak or The Spicy Chicken Alfredo she suggested the Pasta Firstly the Chicken was NOT Spicy at all and Secondly the Alfredo sauce was completely Bland like a mixture of Flour and water I suffered a few spoonfuls and left an almost full plate I told her later she might want to check with her chef/ recipe as I did not enjoy it at All I wasn't expecting anything and I wasn't disappointed I didn't even get a Sorry or any kind of explanation just Oh that's too bad maybe the next time you come you will be better off with your own choice ( Nice PR job) the Bill came and I would have been happy if they knocked $5 off the bill purely as an acknowledgement But not to be that's OK I paid in Full and did not leave a Tip and as we left she was standing by the cash register and gave us a feigned smile as bland as the Pasta sauce you could read the face as I had not Tipped Why should I? Food was delicious (lobster ravioli , seafood hot pot) but service was really poor. Were in for dinner around 5pm on a Sunday so the restaurant was fairly empty. Started out with a waitress who wasn't so sure of the specials (totally forgivable) but lead to never being checked up on while we were eating and no refills on drinks. Our glasses were empty when our meals were delivered , no request to refill. Then we wanted to ask for a refill but our waitress never came by. At the end of the meal we waited a long time until she came around and then she never asked if we'd like to see a dessert menu. Overall , hats off to the chef who deserves a 5 star. 1 star goes to the service. read more

We were referred to The Cabin by our local B&B hosts and are so glad we went. This place has a super cozy ambiance with awesome food. We had the poke, halibut and the cod- all fresh and delicious. I also had a fantastic drink I've never heard of before; I can't remember the name of it, but it had gin, Sauvignon blanc and St. Germain. Soooo good. The tables were a bit too close together; we were pretty much in the conversation of the super loud and annoying guy next to us and his poor date. Although the restaurant obviously can't control patrons being inconsiderate, it would've helped for our table to be further away from them. Also, the music playing at The Cabin was loud oldies from the 60s/70s... Great music, but didn't at all match up with the rustic decor. Not a big deal, but just a bit strange and incongruous. They owner served us, we hardly ever saw her and gave up on waiting to order another drink, when the birthday cake was brought in they charged us $2.00 a person to bring out the cake. Oct. 12, 2019 Dinner for 6 was well below average. Turkey dinner was not carved from a bird as the waitress confirmed it would be. Cesar salad was half the size that it normally is. The severs response to our question regarding the salad proportions "The size of the salad depends on who makes it". Service was well below their usual standards. Pasta dinner was bland. They are amazing. I found them on line when I looked for a fancy restaurant. As with Covid many restaurants are still closed. We went there to celebrate my daughter's Grad and they were great even when the ceremony went overtime as we were 30 min. late. They were very accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was wonderful having both casual and fancy; having the a rustic cabin feel. It was quite relaxing. They have a kids selection that is not listed on the website menu. My son who is incredibly picky ate everything with a thumbs up. Not many restaurants can do that. The food was right portions and flavours were delicious. Every thing was great - the chicken, seafood, pasta and steak. We all left satisfied. The location is just a few minutes walk to Cresent Beach where we watched the sun set and views from the beach breathtaking. This place really made a special grad for the girls. What a lovely evening it was last Sunday, especially sitting in the front open window, catching the ocean breeze at the Cabin Restaurant. Our food and service were superb... A very casual and welcoming place. My husband & I keep thinking back on the excellent meal we had and raving about this memorable evening. His rack of lamb was done perfectly, his mashed potatoes to die for and freshly cooked green beans and carrots al dente. As for my lobster ravioli, it was stuffed with chunks of lobster and topped with prawns and a buttery sauce. Rich but sumptuous. Its been a long time since we had such a treat as was offered that night. My husband & i kept trading plates because they were just both so good. We will have to return soon. This was a spot I've been wanting to try down at cresent beach for sometime. I love beach bistro places and lets face it, whiterock beach has no selection of half decent places. I had the veggie burger (I'm not vegetarian) and it was very good. I substituted fries for the clam chowder soup which was delicious, thick and hot. There's a Rock In My Mashed Potatoes I was at The Cabin this past Tuesday for the first time to celebrate a birthday. I ordered the clam chowder to start and for entree the braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The clam chowder was very good. The braised short ribs tasted fine however in a mouthful of mashed potatoes there was a black stone a little over a centimeter in diameter. Since the ribs were braised and dark the rock went undetected and I was very close to chomping hard on it and causing some severe dental damage. Quite frankly it was awful and actually embarrassing to pull a sizable rock from my mouth at the dinner table. We immediately flagged down the waitress and showed her what was in my mashed potatoes. She was unfazed, non-empathetic, and offered that it was charcoal they use that must have fallen into my meal - like that's even ok if it was charcoal. Clearly it was not charcoal. I tapped it against my glass for her. Yup, no doubt, a rock. She was very short with me when she asked if I'd like a new plate. No, "are you ok? Are your teeth ok?" from her. I also expected an explanation on how a rock could get in my meal as I got no satisfaction from getting a new plate which I presumed had more of the same mashed potatoes that had a rock in it. Going through my mind was what else had gotten into the potatoes? More dirt or other things? This situation also warranted an apology from the chef to also acknowledge the egregious error and try and win back my trust. Or did the waitress not let the chief know what I had found in his food? Who's knows, they acted as if it didn't happen. The restaurant ignored their error and there was no offer of any kind to try and win back my future patronage. I really thought I'd see the chef - that would have been enough to know they did care about their patrons and what was coming out of the kitchen. I've never reviewed a restaurant but this was such a potentially dangerous situation that was never righted by the restaurant that I feel compelled to post this. I will never be back to The Cabin because this was a very dangerous situation that they didn't even try to make things right. I caution anyone going there to be careful with freely chomping through your food - there may be a rock in it. read more

this used to be Beecher Street Cafe and it was recently acquired by a new owner and fully renovated. As far as we are concerned, this place is our "go to" place to eat in the south surrey area. Depending on the time of day, you can have a very quiet time to yourself and a couple of other patrons, but dinner can get very busy. If you have never been to Crescent Beach in South Surrey, this place is a gem. We have NEVER had bad service here and we have been here about 8 times in the past 2 months, either with friends or just a quick dinner when we didn't feel like cooking. The signature drinks are often discounted and sometimes a selection of wine is also discounted. The food is fantastic and presentation is as good as any upscale restaurants we have been to in Vancouver. Our favourite appetizer: Tomato and Bocconcini salad Dry Ribs Our favourite entree/dish: The Seafood Hotpot - this is a full meal in itself, so don't expect to have room for desert after, but go ahead and indulge if you must. Our favourite drink: The Sangria is fantastic and so is the Phil Collins, heck all of the drinks are great and the wine selection is decent. read more

Took a group of 10 customers here for dinner. I was very impressed at how well the wait staff took care of our group. We started with crab cakes, the goat cheese bruschetta and the clam chowda! Went here for a late lunch yesterday at around 2PM. We were the only ones there, and we were attended to and ordered quickly. The food arrived in a good amount of time. I ordered the burger, and my girlfriend ordered the fish tacos. The burger patty was cafeteria quality, as if it had been left in a warmer after being cooked 6 hours earlier. Rubbery, and difficult to cut into pieces even with a knife. The bun and condiments were good quality, which was a shock in comparison. The fries were over cooked brown, as if they were cooked twice; leftovers from lunch they decided to flash twice. Absolutely the worst patty and fries I have ever been served. The fish tacos were way over seasoned and fishy, which led me to believe they were not fresh. I brought up my dissatisfaction with the quality of the burger since it was inedible, and the chef told the waitress to tell me it was that way, not because it was frozen (which was my suspicion), but because they didn't use fillers! What is this, dog food? And the worst part is, she asked if I would like it packed up, and tried to bill me for it. I would avoid this place and find somewhere else for lunch. The decor in this restaurant is vintage and it's cozy open feel and knowledgeable server helped us identify some of the antiques and choose a lovely Lemon Drop Martini. It was later on in the evening and we were both hungry, so we settled on seafood dishes. I had the pepper crusted Ahi Tuna which was a seared Ahi Tuna steak and absolutely delicious. My friend had the Seafood Pasta dish with chunks of Steelhead, which you don't usually find in traditional seafood pasta! He was delighted by the surprise of finding somewhat local fish in his dish! We loved the tender Calamari, and expensive though it was, it was worth every penny. I'll go back to try other dishes at The Cabin. We had dinner there tonight, while I understand that when I had done the reservation that our sitting was from 6-7:30PM. What I didn't expect was the gestapo like attitude of the manager, standing over our table at 7:30. A member of our party was still in middle of sipping her tea and finishing her dessert, but pushed out to leave. While in the middle of dessert, our bill was dropped of and our server stood at table indicating she wanted to be paid. We complained regarding the creme brûlée, and yet nothing was done. This is a beautiful location in Crescent Beach, however it's a shame the egalitarian attitude of the management and staff isn't reflective in the pristine beauty of the surrounding. Food was really good, but unfortunately we felt really unwelcomed by our server Tracy. Right off the bat, we felt like the service was rude and almost biased. We noticed when our server went to other tables, she was evidently nicer. My sister found a short light brown hair BAKED into her food, which wasn't so much of a big deal to us as we know things like this happen. But when we were trying to get our waitresses attention, she rolled her eyes and scoffed. It was shocking. When she came to our table, we informed her about the hair. And as she was walking away, she commented quote for quote "well no one in the kitchen even has hair soo..." insinuating that we placed it ourselves and were lying, although it was CLEARLY baked into it. We were appalled, and we didn't wanna assume that it was because we were the only people of colour in the restaurant. However as the night went on, it became hard to think otherwise. We even tipped to not feed into her narrative of whatever she was thinking about the situation. But I think it was necessary to write this review as we were VERY uncomfortable. read more

We went here on a quiet and rainy Thursday evening. I enjoyed the casual, retro decor, which fits into the Crescent Beach area. The service was excellent, though the server didn't wait for me to finish my meal before she cleared off my husband's plate. Since this is how things are now done in restaurant-land, I'm not deducting a point...simply pointing out that I'm old enough to prefer the now antiquated practice of clearing off all the plates at once, after the last person has finished. Sigh. The food was great, the product of a creative cook. We each had the shrimp tomato bisque, followed by a salad for me and a pasta dish for the husband. The salad was listed in the appetizers but functioned as a meal, what with the garbanzo beans, quinoa, and cheese it featured. Absolutely delicious. My husband's pasta looked well-made--someone in the kitchen understands emulsifiers, because there wasn't the sauce/water separation that often happens. (At home trick: use a bit of the pasta water in the sauce.) The verdict: delicious. I ordered a cocktail, which was neither too strong nor too weak, and was made with fresh ingredients. If I could give it zero stars I would. My family splurged and ordered a meal from them last Thursday. The Door Dash driver pointed out to the staff that the order was wrong but the restaurant wouldn't fix it. The tacos were mushy. The chicken was ice cold. I asked for no salsa but got salsa dumped on it. We were short a chowda and the yam fries were so crispy you couldn't eat them. I tried to contact the restaurant twice since but they have not acknowledged my email. I'm so disappointed. Horrible food. Horrible customer service. read more
