Our quick beach walk was pleasantly interrupted when we got hungry. Nothing better than fish & chips. Fast service, large portions and a terrific view of the ocean. Light battered cod, plenty of lemon and crispy fries Decent prices and full stomachs. Definitely recommend this little beach spot. read more

Little surfer hut along the beach. Tourist spot with tourist prices. That said - the food is legit. Nice fresh piece of fish and fries were tasty. Is it worth $25 for one piece of fish? No, but when you're hungry and in the area this is a nice spot to unwind and look at an incredible view. read more

Love the location. The butchers burger just wasn't good. Tasted like an old frozen patty, even a little fishy. Worst burger I have had in a long long time. Go for fish and chips. My mistake. read more

Food is good, but not great. Apparently when you're the only restaurant on the beach you can charge whatever you want. $29 for a hamburger with cheese is more than what Gordon Ramsay charges for a significantly better burger experience. $12.50 for about IPA on tap is a bit much, but not as egrigeous as the other prices. Enjoy the great view, you're paying for it. read more

Hooked Fish Bar - Crescent Beach You can never go wrong with good fish and chips! The restaurant had strong "ocean side" vibes, with metal tables and surf boards. The batter on the fish was really crispy, and not claggy or greasy like a lot can be. The fries were also very fresh and crisp. 2 piece cod and chips (with a Kilkenny beer) - 8/10 - a really tasty meal and exactly what I was craving! Everything was very fresh, and came out quickly. Cod Burger - 7.5/10 - also very fresh and crispy. Perhaps a bit heavy on the mayo, but that's me being really picky I would definitely come back! Oceanside views, the smell of the water, with fish and chips and a cold beer is really hard to beat some days! read more

terrible food, terrible service fish had zero flavour paid $45 for 2 single fish so my son could have extra as the kids meal which was $14 was not going to be enough so my sons meal ended costing $14 plus $45 for 2 singles cods no sides Aperol spritz was flat and watered down fries were good $14 for a small stew like clam chowder coeslaw already was turning colour oysters came with jarred horseradish and nothing else and paid $45 for 6. tipped the server $30 which was 20% even through my Aperol was spilt within 2 minutes of being served and she charges me for a replacement but worded it like she would replace it at no charge. the only good thing was the view and the fries read more

I went here with some friends and the servers where really nice, but the food was very bland for the price. I got the fish tacos and the only good thing about that dish was the two little pieces of fish that was top of the taco. The only good food was the fish and chips. This place is ok to go to with it being the only option here. read more

I went to the beach for some seafood : Fish N Chips to be specific and I believe I ended up at the right place. My partner and I were greeted the moment we walked in and sat in the inside but you still got the breeze (WHICH WAS GREAT) There was so many choices but I feel like there weren't enough seafood choices on the Menu for a restaurant by the beach.. which was quite disappointing. I got the Fish N Chips and substituted the fries for the coconut rice (WHICH IS TO DIE FOR - IM SERIOUS ITS A MUST TRY) It comes with a lemon wedge, tartar sauce and lots of coleslaw (which I think is great because I actually like coleslaw.. LOL, right? I'm one of those) BUT they did have seeds in them which I did not like so much.. It comes with two pieces of fish - They have the BIGGEST pieces of fish I have seen anywhere yet! And let me tell you that hard to find. Needless to say service was GREAT, prices were OK, portions were BIG, food was DELICIOUS, scenery was BREATH TAKING what more can you ask for? If you're ever in White Rock and want some Fish N Chips stop on by this little gem. Because I defiantly sure will again! read more

Decent food. Friendly service. Just a little hut along the beach. Not much to look at inside.

First sunny spring day and the patio is full. The kitchen is under pressure so the food is not cooked through. SO DISAPPOINTING. The sunflower seeds in the Cole slaw are rancid, the fries barely brown and the cod under cooked. GO DIRECTLY TO THE KITCHEN. BUY THE STAFF A BEER. Ask them to regroup. Take a breath and send out the food ONCE IT IS COOKED PROPERLY. read more

CONSISTENTLY APATHETIC SERVICE. Mediocre food. Not a safe space. If you are a single woman dont go. You wont spend enough to be treated with even a thread of customer service. I've tried time and time again over 6 years and this was the last straw. Horrible customer service consistently. Go next door, to fabulous Cotto. Pay more and be treated with respect. Came for lunch and drinks. The usual is to be hidden in a dark corner as a solo. Check. There were many free tables. NEVER again. If you want fish and chips go to ANY place in WHITE ROCK. If you want exquisite food and service, go next door to #cottoalmare it is worth it read more

I really love this place on a warm summer evening! The patio is a lovely spot to sit and look over the ocean as the sun sets right before you! My two recommendations from the menu would be the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Taro Root Chips with Salsa and Guacamole. My husband's go to is the Fish and Chips! You can also order take out and have a picnic on the beach! We've done that before too with the Taro Root Chip...yum yum! This is a great option if it's a busy night in the restaurant! Parking can be tricky in Crescent Beach but the good thing is that it's free parking! Crescent Beach is the kind of place that makes you relax instantly, take big breaths of the sea air and enjoy! Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Watch out! They charge a 18% service fee for table of 8 or more. Even if an adult doesn't eat or if you have a couple of babies who doesn't eat solids. Absolutely no service at all when they know that's what's coming. read more

Really lovely spot for lunch on the beach. I had the oyster po'boy and a salad with a cup of chowder. My uncle had the fried cod and my aunt the baked. Everyone's food was really nice! Service was great and it came out fast. The menu is actually full of great stuff to explore but what really makes this place is it's phenomenal location. They also have a to-go window (see picture) you can order from. Hooked is definitely a must if you're in the area! read more

This beachside restaurant has a great view, which is good because you may be looking at it a long time while waiting for any service. We had a large party (12) who all arrived at different times. The waitress was wonderful to bring us cups of ice but never brought us water. Some of us were able to order drinks, but others at our table waited over an hour for drinks. The restaurant was not busy and had lots of staff so the slow service was clearly the restaurant's service systems. There is no bartender, each waitress had to make drinks for her table. Our waitress had two large tables and was obviously overwhelmed. There was easily enough staff to have one bartender and four waitresses. The food was ok, coleslaw had too much dressing and the fish and chips had no seasoning. Tarter sauce had no zing, tasted like mayo with pickles cut up in it. The fish was super fresh and cooked well. The waitress was so overwhelmed she over charged our table and wouldn't let the last couple to leave until she figured it out, which she never did. We all paid for what we ordered and ate. read more

Table was dirty & smelled like dried alcohol. The 'Clam Chowdah', though pretty good, is literally 8 spoons... the Fish&Chips (2 piece) wasn't deep fried properly & the skin pretty much peeled off the way KFC's fried chicken does too. The Salmon Burger was alright. 2piece Fish&Chips+SalmonBurger+ClamChowdah+pintofHookedLager+RaspberryMojito= $60 Raspberry Mojito was awesome. read more

This is such a lovely spot ocean front at crescent beach but but the food has been terrible. Rubbery overcooked fish and coleslaw that was so old wilted snd runny if should have been tossed . I've had 4 visits to this place and had one successful meal out of four. The service has been good. So I give it a star for service and a star for location. Hooked is a great location to enjoy the lovely scenery of crescent beach and have a bite to eat. I find the prices a little high but I believe your also paying for the best view of the beach. My go to order is the fish tacos which always taste quite fresh as well as the dip fried pickles. Hooked is the best place to try deep fried pickles for the first time and are an 100 percent must try. I have never tried the fish and chips but another member of my party said they were quite tastey as well. The service is always friendly and I like the casual and beach atmosphere since you can come directly from pier jumping or a beach day and not feel underdressed. I definitely recommend trying this spot. read more

Beautiful little place out by Crescent beach in White Rock. My famjam and I came here for a little late lunch and my sister and I split the fish tacos and fish and chips. Their white fish is on POINT. The fish tacos were a touch spicy but that's just how I like 'em. They also make a mean caesar with all the fixin's. The menu here is moderately priced and full of delicious looking seafood. Every time my parents have come here they have a real nice time. Definitely will be coming back! read more

I had the baked cod, my friend had fish and chips. The fish was AMAZING, the quality was top notch. The battered fish was not too heavy or greasy and the tartar sauce was amazing. The coleslaw was fab too. It's a small place and it is winter so we'll be back in the summer, they have a great patio and large sliding doors that will open up when weather permits. Next time would like to try the fish tacos read more

Right off the bat, the restaurant looked appealjng before yelping it as it was very close to crescent beach. We ordered the fish tacos (special for today) and the oyster po'boy sandwich with poutine. Both dishes like appealing but we both enjoyed the fish tacos more. However the fish tacos didn't come with fries even though it was under "fish and chips". The oyster po'boy was ok as it was too fried and the tzatziki sauce tasted more like mayo sauce. The poutine was decent as it had cheese curds melted well with the gravy sauce. The fries were a bit too crispy for us as if it was deep fried multiple times before. The server told us the new cook made a mistake and made the poutine a bit larger than it should but we were not charged for it. I would recommend it! read more

Love coming to Hooked Fish Bar! I can walk here from home, and it's absolutely delicious! Can get a bit busy as it is summer, but can usually always find a seat on the patio. Good fish and chips, and have had a number of their other seafood dishes including their fish tacos, mussels, and calamari. Only downside, is that their closing hours aren't set, so it's tough to know if it's a little late in the evening that they will be open or not. read more

Probably my own fault I was disappointed. For the price & location I had higher expectations for the food. The fish tacos, while ok in portion (not a great value by any means), were too spicy to really taste anything else. The white "Chowduh" tasted like mushroom soup, according to my kid. And the 2 piece fish and chips were mediocre (& again, not a great value). While the location is great if you want to sit in the restaurant or patio, we opted to grab a spot on the walkway mear the water. For that, we will grab take-out from one of the other nearby establishments. Oh, server at the window was pleasant & helpful. read more

Went to Hooked for their Seafood chowder. It is one of my favourite dishes and I have been going to Hooked for years. My wife and I walked in and although there were lots of empty tables we noticed that the cushions on every chair were filthy and the floor was disgusting. We decided to order take out instead of eating inside. My wife lost her appetite so I ordered one seafood chowder and an order of fries. The bill was $17.00. The chips were cold and the chowder was tasteless. That will the last time we visit Hooked! What a shame, it used to be so good. read more

Walked in and were told to sit anywhere so long as our infants stroller wasn't in the way. Pulled pork had that thick orange grease running everywhere and immediately slid off the soggy bun. Fish wasn't worth the price and was soggy by the end of it. Worst of all my margarita was missing the alcohol! I can get better fish and chips at the airport. read more

Apparently this restaurant just opened under this name, and I hope they stick around! Grab a seat on the patio overlooking the beach, a cold beer and some great fish and chips, mussels, and crab cakes, and enjoy the sunset or simply people watch and you cant go wrong here.
