They use Pollock for the all you can eat fish and chips, but it is $20.99 whereas a 2pc cod dinner is already $23.99 (and increasing in price for haddock, halibut, salmon). After the first plate of fish and chips, you can ask for just fish or just chips to refill. They also included bottomless pop. I usually go to Pajos for my fish and chips but I actually felt this was better. The batter was thin and crispy, freshly fried and not oily, and the fish inside was so tender and flaky. Although pollock didn't have as much flavour, the texture was on point. It was a great choice compared to the few other fish and chips places around the Horshoe Bay Village. My family ate here while waiting out a bad storm for the next ferry. The staff graciously stayed open late for us and then went way above and beyond... My son left his backpack in one of the booths with all of his clothes and Xmas gifts. They not only kept the bag but delivered it to the ferry so we could retrieve it on our way back. This place is quieter than the pubs that serve fish and chips in terms of noise so you can actually talk to your friends while eating. The restaurant is bright and lit up with a lot of natural lighting due to all the windows. The fish and chips might not be as gourmet as the other bars around here advertise but they will do and you can't really complain for all you can eat for half the price what other places charge around here. read more

There are only two restaurants delivering a reasonably consistent serving of freshly made fish and chips in the Lower Mainland: Cockney Kings, and C-Lovers; the rest are all pretenders. Even in these two restaurant, one must make an allowance for an intermittently inconsistent serving, as after all, employee turnover in such establishments is legandarily frequent. That out of the way, C-Lovers has successfully maintained a high standard in an industry not noted for setting the bar particularly high. The servings are fresh, and lavish, and a two-piece single serving will definitely prove to be a challenge. The staff have never been anything but congenial. My only complaint is that they don't have a restaurant on the Sunshine Coast where I live! read more

We stumbled upon C-Lovers Fish & Chips when we were in Horseshoe Bay to take the ferry. We were looking for a quick place to have lunch and hit the jackpot! My husband and I shared the two-piece haddock plate and a bowl of the chowder. It was the best fish and chips we had had in many years! The breading is light and delicate, which allows the fish to be the star of the dish. It was mild, tender, and so tasty! The tartar sauce tasted homemade and was the perfect compliment. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp without being soggy with dressing. The service was so friendly too! We were served quickly and felt very welcome. When I think of a fish and chips experience, I think of fresh coleslaw that's not sour, moist fish with a crispy batter, and dense chips. After a bike ride from Downtown Vancouver, we ordered a 6 piece halibut combo since the 2 individual orders of 2 piece halibut and chips were only $10 less. Coleslaw and tartar sauce is included. The halibut was moist and crunchy. Piece were roughly the size of a chequebook, no complaints here. In my opinion, the chips were pretty salty even before any seasoning or sauces were added. For two people, I'd suppose that it even came with too many chips. The coleslaw was a bit sour. I don't usually enjoy coleslaw. On my next visit to Horseshoe Bay, I'd like to give Trolls a try to give a balanced perspective on the fish and chips options available in the area. read more

I never thought I can eat so much Fried Fish at one sitting.. On a recommendation from a friend, we came here on a Sunny Saturday for lunch. We were told the AYCE Fish and Chips are good. The price is very economical $12.99 for all you can eat Fish and Chips with Bottomless Pop. Its $15.99 if you choose beer as your beverage. We were served with 6 nice pieces of crisp, lightly battered fish and crispy fries to start. AYCE Fish is not Cod or Haddock,its Pollock - a hardy white fish. They also have regular menu items with Cod, Haddock and Halibut. The staff were super friendly and refill the pop without asking. They were attentive and made sure we were happy with our meal. Large bottle of tartar sauce and ketchup were brought to the table. We did have to ask for lemon wedges as it does not come on the plate. It came with a good portion of coleslaw, hand cut fries, and 2 square pieces of halibut which was slightly thin but the batter was nice and crispy. We added gravy for a twoonie and a coke to wash it all down. The service was quick and we were able to walk into the ferry with time to spare! I really like the unlimited tartar sauce that they give you in a squeeze bottle and the proper portion of coleslaw. So many places will give you a little cup of tartar and you have to beg for more and maybe even get charged. The coleslaw is a crucial side dish that compliments the plate. I always feel ripped off when they give you a little metal bowl that's actually meant for dipping sauces. Also the components of coleslaw are quite inexpensive so it doesn't make sense to be stingy. C-Lovers is very generous! The decor was comfortable with some booths and tables. They have a to go order window so I'm assuming that's a big portion of their business. They also provided two different vinegars, salt/pepper, and ketchup at each table. They bring the bottle of tartar so they can keep it in the fridge until it's needed. Batter was limp and greasy. Chips were bland, frozen, typical boring and not worth eating. Batter was not fully cooked so there was a layer of wet batter next to the small piece of fish.Cannot remember what type of fish it was, it was unmemorable. How this place can claim "Best" fish and chips is beyond me. Should be fined for false advertising. Went once and will never go again. Trolls nearby is definitely better, although far from the BEST, as well. At least Trolls has friendly service, good crisp batter and large portions. It was a toss-up between here and Trolls, and since this place looked faster we came to C-Lovers. The all-you-can-eat was about $12 with pop or $15 with a beer; I obviously chose the latter. The AYCE came with pollock, which was not available on the menu otherwise, but if you like pollock it's a no-brainer (I think the closest alternative was one piece of cod and chips for $10). The fries had been recently transported from the Sun, so be careful not to burn your tongue. The fish was good--not too thick a batter--although the pieces were small. Typical fish and chips joints offer pieces that can be mistaken for my forearm. Unfortunately the service wasn't great, so it took a while to get my second helping. Ditto for refills on the drinks. If I was back in the area again, I would probably come back to C-Lovers. read more

we wanted something easy to eat while we were in the ferry to bowen island and saw C-Lovers. ordered the haddock/chips and they never made it inside the ferry, we ate in the ferry waiting area. it was nice to see them go old school with the newspaper but after unwrapping it was just for nostalgia, the fish and chips were in light butcher paper. great fresh tasting haddock and the fries had a nice salty-sweetness (light) about them. i don't have issues with fish & chips where the batter and chips is no longer crispy, but it would've been nice to eat them the restaurant because it was true english fish and chips. read more

Definitely the best fish n chips in the area. The portions are huge and prepared well. I don't care for their style of fries, but everything else is just right. I exercised the option of adding a few onion rings. They were monsterous! They're also very generous with the fresh coleslaw.
