Snapper - Grilled - Lemon Garlic Sauce - Side of Fries ($17.95) - yummy

Fish Cafe has been around for quite a while. I like that there's a healthy (well if you don't choose their deep-fried option) fish place in Kerrisdale. You order a type of fish and choose how to make them (deep-fried or grilled), choose a dipping sauce, and choose a side (I forget what options they have but I got fries). I like to get their fish grilled with their lemon garlic sauce. I tried their lemon caper sauce and it wasn't as good. Also tried their tartar sauce and apparently they make it themselves in house. Lemon garlic was still the best. They also do fish burgers and clam chowders and calamari for other options. Their calamari is not as crispy as I'd like and quite expensive for the size. Service can be slow as they usually only have 1 server and 1 cook. It's a small business so be patient.

Most popular finger food in Vancouver is fish and chips. It can be found everywhere and no need to drive all the way to Richmond Fisher Terrace or White Rock to have a piece of fish and chips. Fish café is the one on Open Table reservation. Just a bit surprised of small café would take the rsvn. It's small and cozy café, the menu is simple and on the wall. Soup was bland, fish and chips was ok, the fish burger was tiny with a lot of fries. If craving for fish and chips and collect points for open table, this is good choice.

The platter is amazing! And what a good deal, in addition to the platter for 2 (scallops, prawns, calamari, steelhead, char, fries, salad) we also each got drinks and a carrot cake, came out to be just $100! Marcus even gave us some extra smoked salmon belly that tasted incredible.

Seafood restaurant in Kerrisdale area of Vancouver BC. Menu includes salads, chowder, calamari, crab cakes, a variety of fish including halibut, snapper, trout, steelhead and ling cod. Two desserts to choose from. Wine and beer selection. Meter parking available on the street in front of the restaurant. Small patio with three tables.

Food was tasty, tad on the oily side. Restaurant could be cleaner, service staff was good.

Our table for 3 ordered: - Seasonal Mixed Greens…read more - Seafood Tasting for 2 - Hamachi Kama - Halibut Tataki - Haida Gwaii Sablefish - Western Pacific Yellowfin Tuna And for drinks, a Dutch Mule. We were STUFFED, for the price you're paying the portions are very fair and quality you can't beat! I've had seafood in the Bay Area, Boston, and even across countries in Asia, but I was SO impressed by Blue Water Cafe. It is a MUST if you're in Vancouver. Everything was honestly a 5/5, the only dish I would pass on is the Yellowtail, I just wasn't a fan of how much it was wavering between raw and cooked fish, along with the char. It's just not for me, but my parents enjoyed it. Nevertheless, some of the highlights was the sablefish, oh my gosh melt in your mouth. Sablefish is Vancouver locally caught, so very fresh and it has a sweet undertone with the soy and sake marinade. This was my favorite along with the Seafood Tasting for Two, which features scallop ceviche, Dungeness crab salad, albacore tuna tartare, and smoked sockeye salmon terrine. You get a diversity of fishes and flavors, which is most certainly worth the price point. It's the gems of the appetizers put into 1 order. Halibut was also noted to be locally caught, the slices were thin and a perfect app. Hamachi Kama is yellowtail collar, which has a rich, succulent meat. It tasted buttery and was also melt in the mouth. The Dutch Mule was a ginger ale with sorbet. Absolutely delicious mocktail, I held back on ordering a second. The service was also amazing!!! Our waitress welcomed us warmly to Vancouver and even gave us a complimentary dessert to welcome us to the area, even giving us tips where to go near the area and what sights to see in Vancouver.

one of the best restaurants we tried in vancouver for sure…read more honestly, i would skip most of the main courses and just order off the happy hour menu because that was easily the highlight for us. the carpaccio was insanely good! super savory, rich, fresh, and packed with flavor. it had that perfect balance where the meat practically melts in your mouth, and every bite tasted bright, salty, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. definitely the standout dish of the night. i also really enjoyed the poutine. the melted cheese curds made it extra comforting and indulgent, and the whole dish felt way more elevated than standard poutine. the drinks were also amazing. both the mocktails and cocktails were genuinely well made and memorable instead of feeling like an afterthought. the only misses for me were the short rib and the steelhead trout, which both really needed salt. the risotto was also pretty mid and not very memorable compared to the other dishes.

I'm not sure if I would say it was "jumbo" but delicious nonetheless. Parmesan Truffles Fries - The fries were standard, as was the aioli it came with. Organic Beet + Arugula Salad - This was a happy hour portion. It was a good salad, but I wish it came on a bigger plate for easier eating. Service: Service was friendly and quick. The food came out of the kitchen pretty quickly. I was asked more than once if I wanted a drink since it was happy hour which was a little awkward but not too bad! Sandbar has been on my list to try for a pretty long time. Somehow I never got to dining here until…read morerecently. I didn't want to deal with parking and weekend crowd and generally being lazy to drive all the way here on weeknights. The stars aligned. My friend drove and she wanted to explore Granville Island as it had been a while since she last visited it. We got here around 5 pm. We missed all the happy hours. So parking is free from 6 pm which was a nice surprise. $4/hour for 5-6 pm. We had an hour to browse the shops and market. The shops mostly catered to the tourists with lots of Vancouver and indigenous centric items which would make nice gifts. Back to Sandbar, it's located a bit away from the market area since it's at the Creekside area. We walked along the perimeter by False Creek. The big boat is our guide. From there we found out the dining room was upstairs. There was also an elevator, great for people with limited mobility. It was close to 6 pm when we arrived with no reservations. It was not that busy then and we were seated shortly. By the time we left an hour later, the place was bustling with people waiting for a table. It was good to see restaurants thriving on a Monday night. Our server was wonderful. Very attentive and made great recommendations. Our water glass was refilled constantly without being asked. The food was excellent. My friend enjoyed the grilled arctic char. I tried a bite and it was tender with perfectly crisped skin. I had the seafood hot pot in coconut red curry broth. I substituted the bread with rice. Good suggestion by our server. Coconut jasmine rice. The whole dish reminded me of Thai food. I was worried it would be too spicy but the heat was just right. Not overpowering and it went well with the rice. The pot was filled with plenty of seafood - mussels, prawns, squid, scallops, cod and salmon. Nothing was over cooked and rubbery. When we left, we noticed The Sandbar was part of the group which included Tea house at Stanley Park and Seasons at Queen Elizabeth Park and Cardero which all had equally good food. I'll be back again to try other food here.

We got our main dishes when we were only 3/4 done our appetizers. And they wanted to serve dessert the moment we were done the mains. The seafood itself was good but the vegetables were slightly overcooked and really salty. The rice was also somewhat overcooked. The salmon burger was okay, didn't have proper tartar sauce in it. Service was a bit weird. Waitress did a nice job, but we had some other wait staff also ask us how the food is and stuff so we had to answer questions multiple times. View is nice as long as you're not sitting facing the cement factory or the bottom of the bridge.
